281  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 2TH/s, Batch 1 on Sale this week, shipping before Sept. Ends on: September 18, 2014, 11:33:43 PM
I will save you some wasted times: You're in UK, you're not gonna make any money by mining.

Because I am in the UK? I rent a property from a friend and I am fortunate enough not to have to pay for electricity.

I understand the current difficulty, but I would still like to give it a go.

Yes, even with free electrity....(btw dont call your landlord a friend when you're clearly ripping him off).

I've seen suckers like you come and leave so many times.

4 months from now, you will become a hater and troll this forum.....Use that money and spend or invest into something you really care about.

I only wanted some help with my question about import / duties cost per S4.

Sometimes I wonder if new miners / newbie posters are afraid to post or ask questions
because they may not fit in with people that have more knowledge / posts.

Go to the S3 thread and ask any UK buyers what they had to pay for 2 S3's and that should give you an idea and some will be glad to give you an answer.
282  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: September 18, 2014, 11:27:53 PM
Ok, so since I formatted my hdd in my laptop like two weeks ago. I lost some of my favorite links.

Can someone post me a ink on the new firmware I have with the stuff to edit so I can get 243.75 added back in. I think it was removed when this (the S3) got reset.

Ty.

Bitmain's site has the firmware:
https://www.bitmaintech.com/support.htm?pid=007201407180243004432lBQW28O0633

I use Cygwin to ssh into them then use vi editor.
U can also download putty to ssh in.

Don't get me wrong the idea itself isn't bad just it will never happen on a scale large enough to have any effect.
284  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: September 18, 2014, 01:12:08 AM
So lately iv been watching the diff prediction rise.    It started at like 31 its now 35-38  and I have a feeling when it comes for diff ride it will be at around 42-46.   I thinks is on have like 5 levels in 28hrs or less.   And by the looks of it, its not going to drop, slow down or stop rising anytime soon.

The higher the diff, the more miners people add,   and the so called "only way" to lower it is for miners to be turned off.
So this is why i have a feeling it'll be 42-48 by the time it finLly changes.

I'm not loosing hope.  The hope is there, just loosing hope of it dropping or stopping anytime soon.

My theory is,  with your own miners  everyone who runs more than 5th/s turn off ur miners and reduce the speed to 1-5th/s and keep ur miners ready for when and if price rises or diff shootsnthrough the roof.

Instead of adding more and more and more miners to keep up with diff,    turn half your miners off so diff drops thus doubling your profit(I'm pretty sure)

We here at slushs are a family.   And as a family were strong and were lucky.    But diff won't drop or slow down anytime soon with more and more people turning onnmore miners.

Thanks.

You do realize there is 248 TH PH thanks typo on the network, it will never happen. Enjoy while you can as home mining will be nothing but a hobby in the not to distant future. Just the nature of the beast.
285  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: antminer s2 firmware upgrade problems on: September 16, 2014, 06:39:01 PM
I upgraded the firmware on my s2. I can login to the web ui with my password, but cannot change the password in the web ui. it says password invalid.

cannot SSH into it either... password invalid. I tried all the firmware listen in GITHUB.

whats the damn problem??? I need to ssh into it.

Try downloading the latest version from bitmain's site and re-flashing again. remember password for ssh is admin not root.
286  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: CLOSED] ASICMiner Tube Group Buy #2 on: September 16, 2014, 02:42:05 PM
Has anyone had this happen:

Put unit together, powered up with power supplies that had been running another tube for about two weeks, about 10 minutes and POP!

Now the first tube is back in that spot hashing nicely.  The one with this bad chip is elsewhere hashing on three boards. Tongue

Does anyone have any experience with the RMA process?

If you bought from Canary PM him and send him the board. I just got a bad board back he sent in for me and was a pretty quick turn around about a week  1/2 or so.
287  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: September 16, 2014, 12:32:30 AM
Cripes,I'm dumbfounded,, I left CEX to come here about 3 months ago and was making over 6 dollars a block.
At that price I needed 2+ blocks to cover my power costs.  now I need just over 4 blocks to cover my nut.
When the hashing skyrocketed a few days ago I  would have need 10 blocks to break even.
With the historical average being 4-5 or 5-6 depending on whos doing the math this place has suddenly gone by the wayside.
With just over $3.00 a block there is no way I can make money here anymore.

So unless BTC jumps dramatically I'm afraid our days are done here.

My suggestion to everyboby here is to take a good look at your costs and be honest with yourself.
Are you REALLY making a profit or just hoping things will get better.

If the huge hash jump last weekend is any  indication as to what is about to happen when these monster machines come on line next month
I think you better start getting your E-bay ads ready, I know I am.
Later
Bob

As long as btc is as low as it is nobody is making money unless you have free gear and free power. I mine for speculation and the fun of it. I look at it if 5 years from now btc is trading at 1500 a coin it was a hobby that made me some good money, if it tanks I had fun doing it. My biggest problem is controlling the urge to keep buying hardware. I started with 2 red furys and have 9.2 th now.

Bob pm me and I will give you a pool I ran across that you might be interested in trying.
288  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: September 14, 2014, 02:11:56 AM
So a quick question the mining calculators make it tough to decide is it possible to still make a profit if I add a cointerra iv there is one available for 950$ I'm gonna try and get it for 850$ or btc equivalent anyone that has one does it hash consistent around 1.6 th/s also what is the stock power draw? Huh
I personally haven't had any experience with their hardware but there is a lot on ebay for around that price. Power I think is 1200 w but I would read through the thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=269093.2460 before making a decision.
289  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: mining.BitcoinAffiliatenetwork.com - we're giving away 1 Antminer S3 every day! on: September 14, 2014, 12:38:26 AM
I can say I am real check my post history, I had mined here early on when it had some problems (actually it was undergoing development hence the reward for the added risk) and I did leave to give the pool the opportunity to get the bugs worked out. When I left I didn't feel the need to make a big deal of it or bad mouth anyone as THE POOL WAS AND STILL IS UNDER DEVELOPMENT.  I simply checked back frequently to see how it was progressing.

I decided to give it a shot several days ago when my primary pool (one of the first created) had some problems. Yes, all pools at some time do experience problems. I have been mining here the last several days and can say my payments have been on time, correct, and YES more than I could make anywhere else.

For those real, puppet, or whatever that feel the need to keep posting about the S3 giveaway over and over I as well as  OTHERS GET IT and since we are mining here obviously don't care. I didn't come here because of S3's and sure am not going to leave over it. So please give it a rest. I mine for btc payouts and as long as those continue to be correct and timely I have no problems here.

I would like to thank sobr on his work here and as I said early on I felt this pool had potential and it is now starting to show it. Keep up the good work and know there are those that do appreciate and support your work, unfortunately as in life those voices often aren't as loud or heard as often as the voices of the haters.

CK, know you visit various threads do you have any insight / speculation on the sudden appearance of the 3+PH here? As said thanks for that and other explanations it really does break it down and helps educate a lot of us.
291  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [5000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: September 12, 2014, 10:51:54 PM
I wondering where it came from all of a sudden. I have looked at other pool forums and I don't think it is failover as all pools seem to be up. 3+ PH is a lot of hash to throw around wonder if a smaller pool is mining us I know multipoll.us jumps from pool to pool but I don't think they are close to that size.
292  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [5000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: September 12, 2014, 09:01:55 PM
Free beer and t-shirts at ghash.io!!! You make double the bitcoin there and the guy who ownes it is a saint. Pool hopping actually works good there as long as you hop between ghash and Eligius(not Slush's). You just have to go try it out. All the hashrate there is from happy customers that they respect so much and not from a huge bitfurry farm that has led to the end of home mining making any profits. I respect all the smart people who kept mining there helping ghash make the profits to keep buying more asics for their farm. People talk bad about them sometimes but all they did in the past was intentionally double spend payments against the system but they admitted it - so that's ok. See you there!  Go ghash Smiley

You got me a free beer and t-shirts........They really need to work on the "Evil Empire" logo though.

Phwner, is the front end down for maintenance?

Yep, sorry about that, we'll be back ASAP...

You have an eta I need to add 2 workers? Can you add them from your end?

Workers will auto-add as long as in the format [poolusername].workername
Thanks

Just can't wish this gets fixed any faster.   Luck to all

Sure you want to leave this hanging out there?

Been gone for several weeks to let things get sorted out but my primary pool was having problems last night so thought this would be a good time to try BAN again. Pointed my 8 TH here and payments have been coming in right on time at what I calculated they should be. Looks to me a lot of the issues have been fixed, good job sobr and the support team. Think I will let them mine here a while and see how it goes.

Check your reward for block 320231 mine was way off (low), I don't think it is/was just a front end problem.
299  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [5000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: September 12, 2014, 12:24:37 AM
I resettled my miners, and everything seems to work.

Total pool hash still off which I think pulls from backend, and last block reward was definitely low. I moved mine just until I get reply back from support to be on safe side.

I just checked my support ticket status and they are working on the issue.

How do I submit a ticket? Don't see a place to do it.

http://support.bitcoin.cz

It keeps saying invalid email or password. Great here comes 30 minutes of pool switching, 13TH leaving now Angry
