121  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: January 23, 2015, 07:55:22 PM
Has anyone that has upgraded to firmware 2.6.9 seen slightly slower hash rate? I've flashed 6 SP20's and everyone of then is  10-20GH/s slower vs firmware 2.6.4. Just curious if anyone else is seeing the same.

choose auto at a fixed upper voltage without adjusting maximum voltage (let it find the sweet spot), then you will get possible maximum hash at a lowest fan (after ~10 min)-to me this gave better numbers while underclocking  than 2.6.1 (did not compare with 2.6.4)

BTW-congrats to zvisha and team-this is a great addition to prior software.

I somehow missed this, upgrading one now to give a try. Thanks.

So for me, to buy say the equivalent of a SP35 and host it myself vs cloud mining it

SP35: $2235 + $150 shipping = $2385

5TH Cloud: $2232 + $2230 (5000 * 0.446/gh) upfront maintance fee = $4462

The difference is substantial and thats if you pay it up front.

The "daily charge" of $0.0015/GH works out to $7.5/day or $228/month for 5TH

Just have to compare that to the hosting fees you pay. For me its too close. Cloud mining should be much cheaper than hosted because of economies of scale.

On a final note, I'm not bashing Genesis mining, I think they are, truly one of the real cloud mining providers with real hardware and hashrate to back up their business model, also having Guy and Spondoolies vouch for them goes a long way in my book, its just that for now, for me, cloud mining isn't the solution. But I'll keep an eye out.

Biffa, thx for your calculation. I think it is very important for everybody to crunch the numbers and feel comfortable.
Unfortunately I cannot follow you on this line:

5TH Cloud: $2232 + $2230 (5000 * 0.446/gh) upfront maintance fee = $4462

Can you please elaborate where the 2232 USD are coming from? Much appreciated.

MS

If the .47 under the 469 isn't the on going maintenance fee and is a breakdown of where the 469 is coming from what is the maintenance fee discussed after you pay the 469 per 1000 GH/s activation fee? I also was confused as to how it is presented on the web page.

with very bad luck, the share may not even get paid once - if it is more than 500% before the next block i.e. an unlucky block that is over 500% Diff%
We've so far only had one block over 500% - it was 525%

This is looking like one of those very unlucky blocks, almost 32 hours.  Sad

5 Ph and one block per day ?

And if you look at the previous solved blocks we are still well above what would be expected. http://www.kano.is/index.php?k=blocks

https://blockchain.info/address/1KzFJddTvK9TQWsmWFKYJ9fRx9QeSATyrT?filter=2#
Try looking at this, should show unspent amounts in green by pool address, click the hash and it should take you to the block.
Payout confirmed, I'm now preferring blocktrail.com
https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/tx/7077df6f0da400b44eed24fba5154b61669f1534f2a62829dc45a392b56c58f9

Blockchain now shows txn ...

Edit: blocktrail also shows our pool - whereas blockchain still doesn't show the pool more than 2 months after they got the pool coinbase information in their git.

When you read keep in mind we have been mining 32 hours now without a block (currently 287.60%).

Thank You
Now I Know that I have to lose at first some money (reneted rig for 0.4 btc for 7 days) to get average profit .
Anyway when I  stop mining I will still get some money for certain time.

If you are going to rent hash you might want to check out CK's solo pool. Who knows you might get lucky.

I know this solo pool and I am watching everyday  how user ads2003uk is playing .
I am going to do it the same way but renting rigs for 3 hours for 5 btc (2PH) is to much gambilng for me at this moment.

Too rich for my blood also, but he has had some insane luck.

Well our S5's are up and humming!!

Not to bump an old post - but I do still have a number of both $30 and $45 S5 Coupons left.

They are good until 2/4 - one coupon per miner.

PM me if you're planning to order and I can send you info. They will save you money on your order.

Best,

Strato

Pm sent

Thanks for the pool all the hard work that goes into maintaining, sent.

If you use your miner to maximal settings in hot envoronment don't use the auto - auto is only good when you are under-clocking.[/color]

Thanks, that part works well, I have one under-clocked a few feet from my desk and Auto has taken the fan down to 19%.
132  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: January 19, 2015, 08:49:16 PM

Added auto-fan option in 2.6.6.
You can select "Auto" from the fan menu in settings.
It's experimental, please give your feedback.

First 5 minutes the fan speed set to 60% and can not go down, then it starts going up and down based on temperature.
The algorithm goes up very fast (10% every 10 seconds) if some ASICs above 120c, and down very slow (1% every 10 seconds) if all ASICs under 115c.

If it misbehaves for you let me know.

Also appears that it won't take the fan any higher than 80% on Auto. I have one I was running at 90% fan and set it to auto and loop 4 is yellow 120 and the fan has been at 80% for a while now.

Also, fan speed displays 0 on main page. would be nice to know what the setting it settled in on is.

My SP30's hosted at SPTech is reported by slush to have a 24-hr hashrate of 3.007 Th/s.
This seems totally wrong seems the advertised speed is at 4.5 Th/s for SP30's.

I have SP31's running somewhere else but that's being reported at 4.7 Th/s (advertized speed 4.8 Th/s)

Is anyone else's SP30's running a 24-hr hashrate of 3.0 Th/s?

It's been a long time since I've heard anyone say anything good about slush's pool.  Everything I heard recently is you want to avoid it, because it has a flawed payout mechanism.

Maybe try Kano's ckpool?

I switched from slush to kano myself

Left Slush well over a month now and haven't looked back.

Quick question for those that have had SPT Miners for a while. I have one SP20 that when you try to go to home page you get a 404 page not found. The url that displays is the Miner's IpAddress/cgi-bin/luci . The miner works fine otherwise and I can access the other pages setup etc just by putting the url for that page in directly. I have tried updating firmware and that didn't fix it. Has anyone had this before and is there an easy fix or am I looking at a recover or flash? Thanks

Looks like all miners are back home now, site is down but miners are submitting now.

LOL

Wow...  You weren't kidding.  211 TH/s

EDIT:  They're coming back.
Yes if you look at the stats page you can see most have already switched back - but the pool stats is slower to adjust ... as it should be.

My miners are still not connecting back to the pool. I've cycled them twice but they show the pool as dead. Anything else going on?

Same here.

Pool went down unexpectedly for 95s so most people will have failed over.
It's back up of course.
I'll be working on moving the shift changes live later today which may help with the cause of the above short outage.
I'll post here when those changes are happening.

Thanks, I was just going to ask as all mine have indeed have moved to backup pools.

Congratulations to the winner, it was good exposure for the pool which gave others to see just how good this pool really is. Hope you all stay, spread the word, and help it move forward growing it even larger.
