I fixed the x on the asic in the gui by removing the heatsink and reapplying thermal paste.  However I had the opposite issue others have reported.  There was not enough paste.  Looks like someone got a talking to about using too much and is now being too conservative.  There were large areas of pretty much every chip that had clearly not had any paste on them at all.  I applied paste with an exacto blade to all the chips on both blades and put it back together and now the x is gone.  I'm not sure the hashrate is any better though, still only doing about 430 but its only been a few minutes.

On the bright side it saved you the time of cleaning them up. That took a bit of time for me the other day. Hopefully they will get to 441 for you.

Aah I spoke too soon.  The x is back.  Same chip.

first what clock?

second what psu?

I tried OC on both but too many HW errors.  So they were both back to stock.  Since this one that had the x went to a - I tried OCing it again and it seems to work at 225 with zero HW but still can't even pull 430 hashrate.  These are both duds.

Forgot to mention the PSU.  Corsair CX750M.  One per miner.

did you re-flash the firmware it brought my 420 up to the 440's with stock setting?

Someone put the whammy on Slush , cant find a short block anywhere, cripes, this isn't even covering the electric bill.........

I don't know a 16 min block is pretty quick. Did you check the luck, as someone reminded me a day or so ago we have been pulling 100% or better for the last several weeks which is pretty good?

Having trouble setting up a static connection. My gateway is 192.168.0.1 but antminer is on 192.168.1.131 now that I changed it but it won't connect when I connect it to the router.

I see that I needed to have router ip in the wan settings on the miner. I changed that bit is still not connecting.

What am I missing?  Should I change the miner ip to 192.168.0.131 to being it on board with the router?

Your miner has to be on the same network . yes.

Changed it and now I can connect to the miner via the router and my pc. Its still not hashing though. I have all my pool info entered okay. I think my wan settings are off now. It's there anything else I would need to set? Otherwise I think I need the correct wan settings for a 192.168.0.1 setup.

I have it set to static
Ivp4 192.168.0.131 seems right now that I can connect to router and connect via pc
Ipv4 mask 255.255.255.0 seems right
Ipv4 gateway 192.168.0.1 I entered my routers default
Ipv4 broadcast not sure with this I have 192.168.1.1
Custom dns I had 192.168.1.1 and I'm about to try 8.8.8.8

DNS need to be the routers ip address 192.168.0.1 or Open DNS or Google DNS or your providers DNS servers all will work. Broadcast is 192.168.0.255 in your case. Gateway will be the routers ip address 192.168.0.1

If your S3 is not performing at 440 GHs, may be worth a shot to re-flash it.

Download the firmware here:

https://bitmaintech.com/files/download/antMiner_S320140711.bin

This was from the S3 thread and not sure why I didn't think of this instead of playing around with the freq's - but it worked. Got my unit I had to set at 212 freq to get 420 up to the 440's at the 218. Anyone with under performing units might try.

I placed order in the first 5 minutes of S3 B1 release.
But still waiting for delivery. Look at the below image.
Its not a customs issue but due to the invoice/label/declaration from bitmaintech.

I would contact Bitmain that order deserves some compensation.

Yes it deserves compensation! Scheduled Delivery date put on UPS website at first was 19th.
Now the delivery date Scheduled Changed to 24-July-2014 if they could resolve invoice mismatch issue.
Bitmain can you do anything to get me out of this issue?

I was early batch 1 and I got mine last Thursday, that appears to be a mistake on sender's end. By the time you get B3 orders will probably be delivering. That appears it is a valid complaint.

Just got my first 2 Antminer S3 up and running :-)
2 more coming tomorrow.

Got my 2 last Thursday, wishing I had ordered more now. Hashes less than originally expected but very well built, runs a lot cooler, and not nearly as loud.

OC those bad boys! People are reporting ~500 Gh/s and an increase of about 40 watts when overclocked

Unfortunately those are few and far between if you have been following the S3 thread. More are in the 420 to 440 range and having to drop to the 212 freq. I did manage to get one that was averaging around 420 up to the 440 to 450 range by re-flashing the firmware.

Dude way to go, so simple I should have thought of that instead of playing around with the different freq's. I had one struggling to keep 420 re-flashed and it is pulling between 450 and 460 on the 218 freq. Somebody buy this man a beer.

Any word on B4 sales?
Id be will to bet they won't start until the 1st of next month at the earliest.

why?  I would think they made solid money with the first four batches. So why not sell more?

I have a question about this just building on the previous post about my S3 pre-order from http://www.bitmainantminer.com/

I opened a Paypal dispute querying how legit this company is as its all bit suss (e.g. no order email confirmation, another domain registered under same address selling mining hardware, no experiences posted on forums about this place) although intensive google search reveals no complaints or signs of scam. These might be brand new and just collecting cash and then disappear but who knows.

Now I contacted them and asked them, how come they are saying they are selling batch 4 which they will ship out 30th July since you guys here on forums are saying that there is no pre-orders opened at all on batch 4 yet. I received this reply:

"We're selling batch 4. Batch 1 was shipped July 10, Batch 2 on July 20, Batch 3 is currently shipping. We're not sure why Bitmain has not released batch 4 on their website yet but we've been told it ships on/before July 30 and we've taken hundreds of orders for Batch 4. You can contact them to verify this if you'd like."

so I sent an email to Bitmaintech directly asking them about this seller, hopefully they will reply soon.

Any thoughts on whether any of this is the truth ? Are there other official mining hardware sellers here on forums that can confirm if Bitmain batch 4 pre-orders are open to them? Thanks in advance.

112bit.com is the largest authorized reseller for bitmaintech I know of and they aren't selling batch 4. If anyone had the pull to I would think they would.

You guys realize that we have had 4 straight months of exceptionally good luck in this pool, so don't say even out cuz that would mean to get bad luck for months.

Not particularly superstitious but did change to "pick back up" see if that helps.

anybody seen Lady Luck, if so tell her we are still here?

Get some popcorn and a comfortable seat, we often get a 10 block day after bad luck like this.

Your gonna jinx us with talk like that,, LOL  Grin

Too late, I think he did. Like I said earlier anyone seen Lady Luck if so point her back this way.  Smiley

Ouch. Maybe I did. I did not know I had such power, LOL. I'll shut up for a bit.

No need, just looking for something to blame this dry spell on  Grin. Like you said earlier it will pick back up it always seems to pick up out over time.

20 mins so far and i'm not getting more the 210

Take it down to 212 and see if that helps.
497  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 21, 2014, 10:04:35 PM

It works, just set as S1

what freq do you use?

I ask because you have 428 gh on one of them and 445 gh on the other.  if you are at 218 and the 428gh one stays at 428 gh  you may want to down clock it to  freq 212.5

I did this and  I use less power with better rejects.  I still get 430gh

Thanks, the one that is around 435 - 440 is at 218.75 and the one at 428 is at 212.5.

Do these heat up the whole room to be like sauna just like the S1's did?

Almost the same power dissipation (watts) right? Close to? Regardless if it's an S1 or S33 350W of heat energy being dissipated in a sealed room will result in a sauna.  Smiley

The key is to move hot air out and cooler air in, which is easier said than done once you have 10kW in a small room I might add.

I am running 2 in a small office with Central AC and shut the door at night. Still cool when I come in in the morning. I couldn't run 1 S1 or S2 in the office as it was hot the next morn. I am the SE US.
