281  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Work in progess] Burnins Avalon Chip to mining board service on: August 07, 2013, 10:00:35 AM
FYI where the chips could be. No proof at all but sounds like a reasonable story.
If its true, our chips will take a lot more time to arrive than thought.

What are the actual expected temperatures for the BTB?
The 60C did seem to suggest it was near it's limit coz it basically got NMW's forever not long after that at least once

Yifou stated that they did run those Chips at ~78°C and i think he stated they still were okay. (I cant quote the video source right now so dont take this as fact). He also said, that they died somewhere up to ~100°C.
I think a max cap should be somewhere at 57°C ~ 60°C to guarantee a longer lifetime.

EDIT: Found the video, watch yourself. He states, stable till 85°C and with 110°C stable for like 10 mins. But that wasnt our board and not sure how they did measure those exactly. Its just a statement.
(Check yourself, im not sure if i understood him the right way.)

Is fan control possible with just messing with the voltage when it's a 3 pin 12V fan?
(I've no idea of course - but from what I've read, I think it should really only be hard on or off)

Yeah its possible, but it depends on the fan if it starts at a certain voltage or not.
For example if people use custom fans, their working voltage could be totally different from the origin one.
On Off shouldnt be good idea. If you do this you could create hotspots which could be problematic at higher oc.
284  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [CLOSED] Avalon ASIC chip distribution on: August 01, 2013, 07:22:10 PM
Indeed. If they dont deliver by the end of august ALL chips, they shouldnt bother to ship at all, and should refund.

with interest.

Not even sure that end of august will be alright. Bitfury looks like to ship in mid august and i they will add a hell lot of hashing power. Also does KNC Miner look like they are able to ship there devices at september. Those units are far more competitive if you take watt consumption into count.

Lets hope they will ship really soon, otherwise were fucked ?: )

Hi Burnin

Any updates today? sleeping on the production floor? Listening to the sweet humm and ticks of avalon chips being stamped? :-)

Are the first boards coming off the assembly line stable / happy?

Update:
Production is now in full swing.
There were some problems that held us back on the first 2 days but now everything is sorted.
I tested two boards over night, they were stable, even with overclocking.
Until delivery cgminer and the firmware will contain everything needed.
Even though the customers from batch 1 might have to perform a firmware update right after unboxing.
Instructions for assembly and firmware updating will be provided next week.

I am still terribly busy organizing everything, its like whack a mole, one problem/request solved another 2 pop up.
But there's light at the end of the tunnel.
I can currently only process a few customer service requests per day, so be patient.

Thanks for the update!

Where can i send the pizza?
Awesome idea to be honest : ]!
I would be freaking happy if people send me one for my hard work.

How come nobody is buying this offer?

Looks like that the market capacity is at its current end.
All people at the board invested their money in mining hardware from different companies.
Everyones waiting now to get some reward Smiley

Question of the week: will batch 2 arrive this week ?.
Who knows, we dont know. : )

Lets try a little linear interpolation of shipping dates, just for personal interests.
Last known AVALON B3 order is somewhere #95xx, so lets assume last B3 Order was #5599;
First Chip Order would be #9600 then. First Chip order, i know of,  was shipped on July 15 ?(http://)
Our first order was shipped on 22.July with #9725 this would be 125 Orders delivered in 7 days.
(125 / 7) =  17,857 = P

Zefir B2 : #9921 -> deltaOrders: 321 Orders difference from first Chip batch.
(deltaOrders / P = deltaT [in days from first delivery])
 321 / 17,857 = 17,976 Days ~ 18 days from 15. July

Now more precisive for the whole batch (i rounded up)
Zefir B1 22. July
Zefir B2 02. August
Zefir B3 09. August
Zefir B4 13. August
Zefir B5 15. August
Zefir B6 16. August
Zefir B7 16. August

Now that the boards are for sale is the schematic going to be released? I know it was mentioned previously in the thread but haven't seen them yet. I think having them to look at may answer a lot of questions.

I cant quote burnin directly right now, but his statement towards this question was that he will release them after a reasonable profit was made.
Burnin surely had a lot of work done and needed to invest which should at first returned bevor releasing those data.
289  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Work in progess] Burnins Avalon Chip to mining board service on: July 26, 2013, 02:25:56 PM
mick25 and solari  i agree with you.

I would also throw Something into the bottle. Even im not a big investor at all.
CGMiner is a fine peace of cake and i really would love an implementation for the Bitburner boards included.

What exactly would need to be added ?
The screenshots showing from burnin did show cgminer software, am i right ?
What would be different from the version burnin uses ?
290  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Work in progess] Burnins Avalon Chip to mining board service on: July 25, 2013, 02:21:12 PM
I couldnt find a answer to this:

Do i need to buy a micro or mini USB ?
Looks like mini to me, but i want to be sure.

Order no. 44x worked as it should.

Is the heatsink under acessoires the same one which is delivcered on the complete package ?
292  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Work in progess] Burnins Avalon Chip to mining board service on: July 23, 2013, 10:02:19 AM
Sorry for the late post..

My order worked, get also the Order receipt and paid already.

Nr. 33x

So that means around 50% of the estimated 600 buyers already got through.
Thats really annoying and i dont think its fair at all. But well see how fast assembling boards will be.

Hi,

Unfortunately the order website seems to have some
bug that other peoples order turn up in their shopping carts.
I am working to resolve those issues.
If i can't resolve them in the next hour the launch will be rescheduled for tomorrow.
Existing orders will be checked.
If you have an error in an existing order please let me know so i can correct it.

cheers
Martin

The man has spoken.

Give us some rest today.
Good night.
294  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Work in progess] Burnins Avalon Chip to mining board service on: July 22, 2013, 08:15:09 PM
Everyone else wait and we can coordinate who gets to take a turn ordering.

No that would be totally unfair. Restart the whole thing.

Its totally buggy and you cannot be even sure to order the things you want.
Due the time you clicked on buy, other people could lay things into your cart.
295  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Work in progess] Burnins Avalon Chip to mining board service on: July 22, 2013, 08:08:20 PM
Please be professional and close the shop. its not able to order the right way. While all people share  the same cart.

People can delete my own orderings, and every 10 secs there are new things in my own cart. But they are not from my adress.

296  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Work in progess] Burnins Avalon Chip to mining board service on: July 22, 2013, 08:05:50 PM
Shops not responding the right way. people can change my own shopping cart.

297  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Work in progess] Burnins Avalon Chip to mining board service on: July 22, 2013, 07:57:56 PM
The price difference between without heatsink and with heatsink+fan is 8-9 EUR.

Why not just make a comment in the order to not send a fan if you don't want one?

An extra product type is a massive hassle in fulfillment. To save a couple EUR per board on your money printing machine sounds unreasonable, to say the least.

Depends on the quantity of your boards.
298  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Work in progess] Burnins Avalon Chip to mining board service on: July 22, 2013, 04:44:13 PM
So I have a manufacturing question, will the chips and boards be tested before they are shipped. I ordered 150 chips, my question is if I opt to get just 7 bitburners, can I opt to have the last 10 chips used to replace any defective ones before it ships to me?

Also I am not sure about how I would like to do shipping, will I be able to pay for shipping separately?

Yes all boards will be tested at the factory, any defective chip will be replaced by me free of charge as part of my service.
(The chip failure rate should be low, as they are factory tested as well)

Some teasers for the stacked BitBurners:

Which heatsink will be delivered ? The big black or the tiny silver one ?
299  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Work in progess] Burnins Avalon Chip to mining board service on: July 22, 2013, 04:18:04 PM
Hey guys,

what exactly means without cooler ? Without heatsink or wothout fan ?
Are those stacking pins included in every package  ?

Regards.

One module is about 45mm high with heatsink, 92mm fan.
Much higher OC would be possible with the 10 Chip version because it can supply the whole 60 Amps to 10 chips.
At 450Mhz the 20 chip modules are already close to the power limit of the voltage regulators .
Probably already exceeding the 60 Amps design spec but with good cooling they should be able to push up to 80 Amps.
The upper voltage limit is 1.8 Volts  Shocked.

I thought the overclocking test was done with a fully assembled board and the production voltage regulator. So is it possible to run a bitburner XX at 450MHz and 1.3V?

Read the thread more carefully please.
Why shouldnt it be able to set a higher clock on the Avalon chips ? Could you explain how and why the chip should be locked to a 450 mhz frequency ?

edit: The 450 mhz clock cap was a statement from the avalon designer yifu. But all he said was " the number youre looking for is 450".
Maybe its the max what it is originally designed for, but well see.
