2801  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitfinex not responding on: October 09, 2018, 11:05:33 PM
Given the amount of complaints lately and the striking similarities with fiat withdrawals, it's probably not a far fetched idea to say that they are insolvent at all.

You're more likely to get an answer from them if you posted on their reddit, or twitter. I doubt that anyone still actively monitors bitcointalk from their end. But I reckon the only thing you are able to do at this point is just wait, and hope for the best. I think they're likely still return your funds, but time is a factor.

I would certainly warn against all users who are looking to use bitfinex presently and in the future, you're taking on a risk that they are indeed insolvent and have to deal with constant fiat withdrawal and deposit delays.
2802  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Fiat deposits with no KYC? on: October 09, 2018, 11:00:25 PM
Do you know any exchange which accepts fiat money deposits without asking for KYC and AML procedures? I know only virwox but their fees are outrageous...

Most regulated exchanges will be legally obliged to ask for your KYC, which is why you see so little options when it comes to this.

The only two options that I would say is viable for you is Localbitcoins/Paxful/any other p2p trading site, or an exchange on bestchange.com which may not be as trustworthy as the major ones, but will usually offer certain trading pairs without the need of verification.

Again, you're not going to get good rates. Expect a 5-10% cut at least, but if you're buying with cash deposit on Localbitcoins this spread could be lower. It's certainly a lot lower than Virwox after all the fees, though.
2803  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10-02]Bitcoin Price Stable around $6,600, CEO of deVere Group Forecasts BT on: October 09, 2018, 10:58:19 PM
Fear of missing out on what is the real question. You can't just say that prices are going to go up because people will FOMO buy bitcoin, they need reason to FOMO buy first. And ain't no one having the fear of missing out in a bear market.

Personally, I see prices potentially staying at this level for some time longer, and we won't see bullish outbreaks until probably next year when the recovery would most likely start.

There could be short term price swings though, that could always happen. But that's not an indicator of actual overall market sentiment shifting.
2804  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10-02] Cryptocurrency Scams Are Successfully Growing Thanks to Web Marketi on: October 09, 2018, 10:54:28 PM
Are crypto scams necessarily increasing because of advertising? Also, who said that they're increasing? Sure, they may be increasing in volume but I think that less and less people are actually buying into these ponzis/scam ICOs because of the saturation in those fields.

Ultimately, I think that it's still the greed and immaturity of the investors that are causing this to happen. Not advertising.

Especially in last year's bull market, people's attitude towards the market is completely bullish and thus they are likely to take more risky investments, which explains why Bitconnect was as successful of a scam as it was.
2805  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is it true that the market usually rises before the end of the year? on: October 05, 2018, 11:59:42 PM
Is it true that the market usually rises before the end of the year?
If so, why do you think it happens?
I spoke with few people that already said that in the last 5 years the market became really bulish

Well, is it true for the past 3 or so years? Yes. Prices have generally been on the rise at the end of the year.

But then you have to ask yourself why. Is there a particular reason why it's doing so, or are prices simply coincidentally rising because of the fact that the past 2 years have been pretty bullish?

Potentially, end of year could provide a change in market sentiment especially on the emotional aspect of trading, leading to this bullish outbreak at the end of the years of the past few years. Other than that i see no rational reason for this to happen, which means that it shouldn't be a trend that should be relied on imho.
2806  Economy / Economics / Re: Malta PM at UN General Assembly: Crypto is the Inevitable Future of Money on: October 05, 2018, 11:53:59 PM
Malta has obviously been extremely supportive of bitcoin within its regulations, and this can obviously be reflected through the comments of the Binance CEO whose company if I remember correctly has moved its HQ to Malta.

It's good that they are providing this environment for crypto businesses to operate in and they will see benefits for themselves as well in the long run.

Though, don't take this too positively as they have not specified what kind of crypto they are going bullish on in the long run. Whether that's bitcoin, or other decentralised cryptocurrencies, or government backed, centralised cryptos. It's similar to Venezuela being supportive of crypto, but only those that support its own agenda.
2807  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10-02] China’s Longest-running Tech Publication to Accept Bitcoins on: October 05, 2018, 11:49:26 PM

This might not be significant at face value. It's just another business that is starting to accept bitcoin.

Although, this is happening in China, which is a country where the government has not been very supportive of bitcoin at all in recent times and with bans on a lot of areas of bitcoin trading and transactions.

A magazine of such longevity accepting bitcoin despite these government policies could be something major. Not only is it signaling adoption of bitcoin in China, it's also furthering the legitimate uses of bitcoin in China.
2808  Economy / Speculation / Re: Q4 prediction for Bitcoin? Time to buy now? on: October 05, 2018, 11:41:02 PM
Even though it may seem like a trend, I think that all of these charts came from years which are bullish, or have been the start of a bull market.

If you take a look back at the charts of 2013 you might have actually seen a huge dip at the end of the year which signalled the start of a bear market. Similarly, the markets of the Q4 of 2014 were relatively uneventful as well.

I don't think that it's necessarily a trend that will follow this year given the bearish sentiments that still ensue within the markets. Sideways movements plus some occasional dips to test the $6k support until the end of the year is very likely.
2809  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10- 03] From Pizza To Lambos: Charting Bitcoin’s First Decade on: October 05, 2018, 11:37:58 PM
Ten years ago this month, Satoshi Nakamoto published a paper online introducing the concept of a “purely peer-to-peer version of electronic cash” called Bitcoin. But it wasn’t until May 2010, when software developer Laszlo Hanyecz swapped 10,000 Bitcoins for two pizzas, that the virtual currency became a means for buying real-world stuff.

Suffice it to say, you can get a lot more than two pizzas with 10,000 Bitcoins these days.

Here’s a look at how the purchasing power of that original transaction has changed over the past eight years, running the gamut from iPads to Lamborghinis (or Lambos, in industry parlance) as early adopters, true believers, Wall Street financiers and retail investors all jumped on the Bitcoin rollercoaster.

Full article and great timeline can be found here: https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2018-bitcoin-anniversary/

It's actually very simple economics.

The amount of adopters have increased drastically while the supply of bitcoin has been relatively unchanged and inflated at a controlled manner (unlike some fiat currencies which are currently undergoing hyperinflation). The result of this is a rise in purchasing power.

I think that it's an interesting article which puts everything into context. However, i'd have to say that even though it may seem like that right now we're experiencing some volatile markets, in the long term scheme of things it's definitely just short term background noise over anything else.
2810  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Ciervo Trade - SCAM - Plagiarism on: October 03, 2018, 11:55:02 PM
Well.. if there are similarities in the words in the white paper, we will fix everything.
but we never felt take or cheating on someone else's project, we immediately fixed it and sent the correct link to this page.
thank you

If you know that you did nothing wrong, why are you fixing anything?

THat simply doesn't make sense. You clearly understand that this is plagiarism, not only is that in itself immoral and unethical and probably would break some copyright laws in certain countries, it also proves that you are a complete scam of a project.

Only when you have no experience or real development to speak of would anyone resort to plagiarism, and this is what you've done.

Also, please let us know where your team is at and what members they compose of, and what experience they've got. Either way though, I think it's safe to label your project as a fraud.
2811  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10-01] Massive 'Inevitable' Bitcoin Prediction Made By Malta's PM on: October 03, 2018, 11:27:56 PM
Very interesting in the fact that this is a country which is actively trying to cooperate with crypto businesses and proactively working with them in terms of regulations, instead of just restricting access to these services in the case of countries like India.

I think that in the long term future this is what will benefit countries themselves as their positive regulation will lead to investments within the blockchain field, and ultimately lead to more revenue for the government.

Quote
“I passionately believe technology revolutionizes and improves systems,"

That's what it ultimately boils down to. The prime minister seems to see a big future in crypto, so it's no surprise that the nation welcomes these businesses to relocate.
2812  Economy / Speculation / Re: When will the price of Bitcoin break below the $6,000 support level? on: October 03, 2018, 11:18:35 PM
If you look at the chart of the Bitcoin price, it has formed a clear descending triangle with support at about $6000. Resistance is keeping the peak of each bullish run lower than the previous one for the past few months.  If I can find a good chart to post, I'll add it in later.

I believe that this is a bearish signal that the price could likely break below $6000 soon.

Do you agree and if so, when do you think it will drop below that key support level?

I agree. Even though $6k has been upheld as support for the majority of this time that we've spent in the bear market, it's hard to say for sure that it's going to continue to be that way in the medium term future.

For me I'm looking at a potential breach of the $6k support by the end of the year. It's not guaranteed, but if it was to happen, it would be in the next few months.

You really can't be more specific than that. All we know at the moment is that prices are very near bottoming and recovery is probably going to go underway some time mid to late last year given the last bear market's trends.
2813  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Be careful of Phishing Sites that fly Around on: October 03, 2018, 11:16:21 PM
I think that all this post proves is that kkcoin itself should be considered to be extremely shady.

I see no signs of td.kkcoin being a phishing site per se. Perhaps it's supposed to be a kucoin ripoff but at the end of the day, it's still under the domain of kkcoin. And based on the pretty outrageous promotions that they are doing, I wouldn't be surprised if the entire exchange was to be a scam altogether.

That doesn't mean that anyone should be less cautious of phishing sites, as they are still extremely common as a problem. But this site itself looks to be real shady.
2814  Economy / Economics / Re: Executives are selling off their company's stock at a record pace on: October 03, 2018, 12:05:09 AM
If these things are indeed true - if executive are selling their company shares and dumping their portfolios of investments, it could seriously be a sign of what to come.

The growth in some sectors may indeed going to be slowing down, and those who know it best may be acting now to get rid of their stake in things and cash it out before a recession of some sort strikes or whatnot.

The point that stock buybacks are only used to hype prices up for dumping their own shares is also interesting, although unconfirmed.

The stock market is due for a major correction. Considering the pro Price Earnings Ratio stocks are massively overpriced.  From what I've read most economists think another major crash is imminent in the near future.

It's hard for me to believe in a company's success if their own executives are selling large amounts of stock.

I echo this sentiment, stock markets are bound to head for another crash sooner or later, but whether sooner or later, we're unsure. All we can do at this stage is wait and see what happens, and especially what would result for the crypto markets. Would they be affected just as much as the stock market? I personally don't think so.
2815  Economy / Economics / Re: China moves further towards cashless society on: October 02, 2018, 11:56:35 PM
From what I've heard, places in China have increasingly started to even reject cash as this article demonstrates.

Is it really a good thing given that now people are essentially forced into either Wechat or Alipay for their groceries and all that? Even though theoretically, paper money is still legal tender, but in practice, we may see people discriminate against that form of currency increasingly.

It's interesting how fast China has undergone the cashlessness-isation process, though. I think it's because of the cheap and convenient nature of their payment processors that allow this to happen, unlike Western counterparts like paypal with the huge fees and chargeback concerns.
2816  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Buying gift card with Bitcoin on: October 02, 2018, 11:50:13 PM
I have heard it is possible to buy gift card with Bitcoin or cryptocurrency.Today i wanted to buy playstation network gift card with bitcoin but not finding any reliable website to buy.Do anyone know a legit website that i can buy PSN gift card from?

The only confirmed legitimate site that does this is probably eGifter.

As far as I know, Gyft only does Xbox and not Sony Playstation.

I would not really recommend buying from anyone on paxful at all because it's just too risky. Most cards that are traded on there are fraudulent, and if you're not experienced with managing such risks, you can easily end up with a carded PSN gift card.

Potentially you could find a trade on the forum, but again, be extremely careful. I'd stick to eGifter, or convert my BTC to fiat first, then buying the card.
2817  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is expertoption.com a scam? on: October 02, 2018, 11:41:19 PM
anyone has any idea if this website / app is a scam?

i wanted to try it but after reviewing on google i saw a lot of negative feedbacks if it's really not legit can someone refer me to any other legit app
that i can use and deposit money in it and win?

i need wallet to wallet deposit and transfer if there is ..

thank you so much

I'd be extremely careful with using them.

They are based in Vanuatu and if anything goes wrong, they are nowhere near the jurisdiction of your country's regulators (probably) and it's very unlikely that you'll be able to track them down and actually get anything back.

There aren't any very positive reviews about them from a google search either. Even though there is no definitive proof for this site to be a scam, it's way too risky for me personally to ever use.

I would only stick to trading sites which are regulated by your country, that are located within your country preferably. Don't just hit up random sites and expect them to be legit.
2818  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Poloniex keeps my funds from me : ( on: October 02, 2018, 11:38:06 PM
Poloniex support team is awful!
I have been a legacy user with 2000$ withdrawal limit... Afterall Poloniex froze my account without a chance to withdraw... I want to notice I made my intentions clear before deadline (Circle issue)...

Poloniex ignored their promises, their official statements, their art.17 of User Agreement.. And now they are ignoring me as their customer... So awfully inequitable situation it is...

Dear users, good ones, help me please to spread the word...[/i]

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/9j6hts/poloniex_support_team_is_awful/

Unfortunately, their policy of not letting legacy accounts withdraw has been in place for some time now, at least half a year.

I've withdrawn all my funds way before then, and stopped using poloniex. Their customer support was just too terrible for it to be a viable exchange to be regularly used.

Your issue seems to be that you don't want to complete KYC but still want to withdraw your funds after the deadline for legacy accounts. Unfortunately, even though you may have notified them earlier, they most likely will just cite the deadline as non-negotiable. Their support is bad, but the only chance you have of getting your funds out in my opinion is most likely to complete verification.
2819  Economy / Speculation / Re: The price of capitulation on: October 02, 2018, 11:28:33 PM
As you all know, we are in a multi-year bear market, very similar, in form and content, to the one of 2013-2015.

Recently we had bearish news in CNBC, which indicates a capitulation is near. Perhaps we are already in capitulation phase and the sheeple are already selling and going back to their hyper-regulated stock markets.

I created this pool to collect some opinions.

We're already past the panic and fear stage of the bear market, so I think it's safe to say that we're near the capitulation stage.

Thus, we are definitely very close to the bottom of this bear market, and the price floor is probably somewhere between $3-5k depending on how the market moves in the short term over the past few months. But as such, buying right now definitely is a great opportunity to accumulate for the long run.

Mainstream media seems to usually be indicative of where the market sentiment is at right now. You're spot on with the comparison with the 2013-15 bear market as well, I think it will be fairly similar this time round with 2020's halving being a major milestone for recovery this time round as well.
2820  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam - EXSPACE ICO - Fake Team & Ponzi scheme on: October 02, 2018, 11:23:41 PM
Look no further than their front page where several traders are touted as some form of investment plan. This is targeting newbies with no past experience with common scam tactics.

Not only does this plan structure does not make any sense, no legitimate business would ever offer you the so called "deposit insurance" on any investments, especially when the yields are so high. If they do, then they are either trying to con you and/or they are a ponzi.

You really need to look no further than that fact, but the fake team images are just another indication of their complete scammy behaviour. Even though not all photos are verified as fake, I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of them are.
