2802  Other / Off-topic / Why Gumroad should support bitcoins. on: February 21, 2013, 08:51:49 AM
I sent this email just now Thread will be updated with response

Quote
Will gumroad ever support bitcoins, it seems that your platform for micro-transactions is a perfect use case for the digital currency. Not only does your service require a minium amount of funds to be withdrawn, which I am guessing is because of the fees on your end. This could be under cut with bitcoins, a user that wants to withdraw could be done at any amount of funds since it takes pennies to send small or large transactions. Another issue that could easily be solved by bitcoins, is that you only support 190 countries. That means you are clearly missing some countries, bitcoins can be used by anyone anywhere. I think it is in your platform's interest to at least follow up with my email and check out bitcoins, I think you and your users would be happy with a bitcoin option.

Here are some links.
bitcoin.org
weusecoins.com
bitpay.com

Thank you

Gumroad is an easy to use platform to deliver digital content for a price. They have share/like button to buy now and support anything from $0 to $1000. I am hoping they support bitcoin.

2804  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should casual users avoid the Satoshi client? on: February 20, 2013, 08:20:40 PM
99.9 percent of the people out there are not going to want to, or care to know how bitcoin works.  Whether you think that is smart or not doesn't change that fact. If you want bitcoin to be adopted on a large scale, it is the average everyday person that we need to convince in adopting it.  That will not happen if you expect them to understand the minute details of cryptography and peer to peer networks.  The average person doesn't care.  They just want it to work.  The average person has no idea how banking works and they don't care.  The average person won't know how bitcoin works and they won't care.

I disagree most people know how a bank works especially in today's day of age. I think when your dealing with money people want to know how it works, when it is an email they don't care.
2805  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: max addresses supported by a single wallet on: February 20, 2013, 08:19:23 PM
I'm planning on building a marketplace service, thus in order to be scalable I'd like to know how many addresses the wallet can support. Otherwise I suppose I should add in logic to reuse stagnant addresses.

I wouldn't even worry, worst cause if your wallet gets too big (which is in 100's of millions) then you just create a new wallet.dat and sweep your funds into one address in there.
2806  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should casual users avoid the Satoshi client? on: February 20, 2013, 07:56:50 PM
Dancupid,
That's rediculous.  You sound like a former computer geek who would argue that if someone didn't understand DOS there is no reason anyone should be using a computer.  The goal is to get everyone to embrace bitcoin.  If you expect everyone to spend a couple days to understand the block chain and how bitcoin works you're an idiot.  You don't need to understand the physics of an internal combustion engine to drive a car, nor should you have to.  The same is true of bitcoin.  That is unless you want bitcoin to remain a fringe economy so that you can sit in your lonely corner telling everyone how superior it is if they would only spend a week to learn why.  Idiot.

What is different from understanding how banks work? You don't walk into a bank and just leave your money with them, you learn about the interest, about different accounts, Bitcoins should be no different. Bitcoin client should be at least tried by the new users, it is a full node, so it helps the community and teaches them a lot about how bitcoin works. I think sir you have no clue what your talking about.
2807  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cosmetic Surgery Crowdfunding @ theperfectboobs.net on: February 20, 2013, 06:30:16 PM
I honestly can't say anything, but where can I donate to get some of these girls therapy, they need help, not to be enabled to get more surgery. This actually is making me kinda sad for them.

Obviously this service is not for you. Please move along.
Those girls have friends and family and co-workers and doctors to tell them when their behavior gets out of hand. I don't think it's your or my responsibility to say whats right or wrong in this case.
While you're at it, think of all the tattoos, piercings, jewelry and all other kinds of body art, those people need help too?

Anyway, i didn't post this to get into a conversation about this, feel free to start a discussion about this on our forums.
I'm just announcing the service for people that ARE interested.

Do you not realize your enabling them. LOL and doctors telling them when it is too much, yeah ok, doctors are just as greedy as the rest of the world, they rather have money, then tell a patient not to do it. Yes I believe tattoos and piercings can go too far in the same way plastic surgery can as well. You see some of the girls on your site, they look unhealthy and look like they are crying out for help. This is why society is messed up people like you that help enable them.

It is just me or does it seem like suddenly there have been a lot more hot-tempered, immature, impatient, and reactionary people trying to acquire bitcoin recently than in the past?

I love when people are flipping out over bitcoins that means the price is up, and we are all richer

2810  Other / Off-topic / What if Satoshi Dice got a patent on how the game is played? on: February 14, 2013, 08:28:06 AM
I think this should be Erik Voorhees next move for his company, it would be great for him to take down and own all these gambling sites that can't think of original idea. I think this could make Bitcoin entrepreneurs in the casino/gambling niche take a more creative path to their games and fair provability. This could really turn the community into a better place, instead of a lot of people ripping off his idea. He clearly has enough money to start filing lawsuits, this would also be good for his investors.

While the question remains whether or not you should be eating Domino’s pizza at all, a clever service now allows you to pay for your pie with Bitcoins. The service is far from an official Domino’s app and is instead a gateway or broker between the world of pizza and the world of popular virtual currencies.

The site, PizzaForCoins, asks for your address and then brings up pizza places near you. You place your order and send over your coins – the exchange rate is “APPROXIMATELY $0.50 Cents less then the current Mt.Gox Rate,” their emphasis – and wait for your pizza. Then you eat it.
2813  Economy / Lending / Re: looking for 3btc loan on: February 12, 2013, 02:44:53 AM
How could I be sure you would not default on the loan  Huh

Do you have any reputation anywhere? I may be able to send this level of BTC to you if you can convince me of your legitimacy.

I know that he's legitiment because I bought a gift card off of him earlier today. In fact, I paid upfront and he could have easily taken my money and ran, but he didn't. Trustworthy dude IMO.

I hate when Jr Members vouch for each other, cause you have no rep either...
2814  Economy / Services / Need Help Lending, do you want to lower your risk? on: February 12, 2013, 02:32:52 AM
So lately their has been a lot of people getting scammed here on the forums and on the site btcjam.com. I attributed this to lack of knowledge and people wanting to get the best interest rate which isn't the best every time. I going to open up this little service of mine, you send me 1 BTC and I will help research the person. Leading to a better chance of you not to be scammed. If the person defaults I will send back your 1 BTC and a free research. I put my entire reputation and my excellent loaning experience (have yet to be scammed on btcjam.com)

Also if you want to use my service alot, I would recommend paying 10btcs for 13 research sessions.

Get on this while I have the time...

Remember this is suppose to help you learn how to loan your money it should only take one session to pick up on how to loan your money properly.

WoW bitcoin is becoming like the real world, let me guess anzy is from china, where ideas are to steal others. I hope the mods remove this copy of a stupid idea, which made it even dumber.

2818  Economy / Digital goods / Re: litespeed web server 2-CPU Owned licenses on: February 09, 2013, 07:40:36 AM
it means enough people are ignoring you for pointless or annoying posts

Look everyone that has good ideas on here have some ignores LOL some the smartest people on this forum have ignores as I said means nothing.

maybe I know nothing. i mean running web services with google analytics listing "3,081,125,454 page views 08-12" 5-10 TB OUT DAILY every bit of which was PHP dynamic pages (proxies.. PHP loading every thing down to images embedded into pages)

or maybe some well respected webhosts like to just spend money pointlessly on useless software

http://steadfast.net/blog/index.php/general/deploying-litespeed

nginx maybe can compete in some cases if configured perfectly but to say apache is remotely similar LOL

not sure anyone can take you seriously

Litespeed is built on apache so apparently you have no idea. I doubt you run any web site that has that many hits but ok I give you that. Then you would have realized that running apache as the load balancer with nginx as the end point for a request is probably better for a 3m uniques / day, not that I would know cause I never worked on apache systems LMAO Dude just stop your a person that probably brought it thinking you were going to run a great site, you didn't now you don't want to pay for the $400 for the license. Anyone stupid enough to buy that shouldn't have any web site. BTW they only power 90,000 sites, that is like nothing... So you messed up did some bad research and now your just mad I called you out on it, it is ok dude, like just own it, you got to.
2819  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just lost 190 bitcoins through Mt. Gox on: February 09, 2013, 02:37:09 AM
Your twisting my words again. How is the risk too high? If you follow security protocols you have no issues, even average people can figure out a 2 factor auth system. Also you said no serious investors will actually invest, yet I have seen a number of articles of day traders and stock people investing. Plus Fred Wilson VC has invested in a bitcoin company and in bitcoins. So your pretty false on those claims and your very off track.

I am not trying to twist your words but you just *keep* missing the point. NO GUARANTEE - got it yet?

If my 2FA key from my bank gets stolen I *can still* get my money *refunded* - you *cannot* do this at any BTC exchange (and won't *be* able to for very good reason as we all know well).

WAIT a second, you verify your ID, just like you would have to at a bank. Now lets look at the real point how many people are going to use Mt Gox. Only investors and day traders, and we have proven that many of them are on Mt Gox today! So while there is *NO GUARANTEE* people are fine with it and adapt to the security needed.
2820  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just lost 190 bitcoins through Mt. Gox on: February 09, 2013, 02:16:45 AM
TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOURSELF, I THINK TOO MANY BITCOINERS DON"T UNDERSTAND IT and frankly it is boring to keep iterating this point to people.

Your point has been made clearly again and again - and sadly *this* is *why* Bitcoin will *never* be used by average people *ever*.

Average people want *government guaranteed* money that will be refunded in the event of *theft* - so I think we can see clearly where the situation stands (and why no serious investors will actually invest a serious amount of money in BTC - the risk is simply too high).

Your twisting my words again. How is the risk too high? If you follow security protocols you have no issues, even average people can figure out a 2 factor auth system. And lets be honest, how many people are going to buy bitcoins to trade on Mt Gox.
