I chimed in with my 2 cents towards the cause in your thread as well. I just don't see a reason for them (theymos, mods) not to do it honestly...
If they added a physical crypto subforum in the Goods section I truly think most people wouldn't even notice, unless they were already interested/involved in the physical crypto community on here.
I agree also on adding the section, but obviously the powers that be do not. I suppose if we get a section then everyone else will also want a small section and it will get out of control. |

Mine also has a few imperfections. These were very inexpensive so I was not expecting a perfect bar though. I can say overall I am happy with mine.

Too funny...I remember when Mike originally listed this orange B for sale on EBAY. I actually bid against you for it Blazed. Seems like ages ago in Bitcoin time...never ceases to amaze how time and rarity create collector value. He listed an unloaded 1000 BTC bar for charity around the same time as well.

Was the box all smashed up? When I shipped them out they were already wrapped so without opening the factory packaging I had no way to actually see the bars. The box was intact, no dents or anything, and the factory packaging wasn't opened. The coin itself was wrapped in bubblewrap and another layer of protective material (see picture). To me, the BTC has little value, but the signature does.

I just received my f*D bar and it looks and feels amazing. However, it's scratched quite badly and has a noticeable dent. Not very happy about that.

I do not think it hurts the value, but it does make the coin harder to sell in my opinion. The extra 1.6BTC is pretty much trapped/useless since we never actually redeem the coins.

Well I should probably clarify my conversation wit him a little more. I was supposedly texting his brother as Maidak could not physically be at his phone. His info is very public so nothing to really dox here...shame if he does not try to fix this.
Did his brother not give any information about his whereabouts ? If he did take someones money before any incident, then he should atleast have someone leave an update on here unless he is in a very bad accident. There is no other reason not to. Brother and accident are more than likely excuses just to buy time. Surely maidak's brother could have returned the funds but haven't there been other scams in the meantime? How many people were scammed and on what dates? I have no idea honestly...I just sent a text to his phone and got that reply. He told me where Maidak was currently and said just tell everyone 2 weeks. |

This sounds very similar to how #bitcoin-otc authentication works, but bitcoin-otc also supports PGP signing as well as bitcoin signing. I'd be supportive of this idea, however the one issue I'm able to think of possibly arising would be that if someone's bitcoin private key was stolen, then they could potentially lose access to their account, and would have no way to truly prove that they're the account owner, since there could be someone else signing messages with their private key as well.
Well #Bitcoin-OTC allows you to use both Bitcoin and PGP signed auth. If you loose one you at least have the other to get your account back. |
