I will make a few bets later on on the NRL R9

Rugby Union - URC

I have two piddler bets on Rollbit

Munster v Cardiff Rugby - ML Munster @1.09 - Amount Taken: $2.00 - Potential Payout: $2.18

Cell C Sharks v Connacht - ML Cell C Sharks @1.22 - Amount Taken: $1.50 - Potential Payout: $1.83

My two small bets on the United Rugby Championship came in Green which is
nice to balance all the losses in the NRL.

There is one round remaining in the URC before the Quarter Finals and  there
is currently 3 Irish teams, 3 South African and 2 Scottish teams making up the top
8 which probably wont change after R18.

I'll also make my bets for the final round later.

Some others would certainly like to have thought similarly, because there are a lot of them who have lost their private keys and everything that those keys controlled.

Exactly, we have seen many times where people come to the forum requesting help to
retrieve coins from wallets where the keys have been lost/forgotten/discarded.

Its good practice for all the reasons in the OP to keep everything secure, in good order
and accessible by the owner at any time.

I have all mine apart from some worthless $hitcoin ones.

Private keys would only take up bytes on a memory stick, there would be no need to
delete them.

How often do you all check your old addresses to see if anyone sent anything to them?
2843  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Support type for the passphrase on: May 01, 2022, 04:47:43 PM
There is a new project that I found out on another forum that uses steel but has a very unique way of storing it. You can know more about it on their website.

I have seen such steel plates and templates before, I do not think there is nothing special or unique about them.
Almost all types of the cold storage products sold online were put through a stress test by Jameson Lopp. You can see the results here: Metal Bitcoin Seed Storage Reviews

I use a Stainless Steel stamped plate for my seed phrases similar to this one >

Stainless steel Bitcoin Recovery Seed Plate

I made a similar one myself because I have he metal cutting and shaping tools
myself. Stainless Steel doesnt corrode, its water proof and being steel wont catch fire and
if its thick enough wont melt too easy apologies for the non-scientific descriptions!

It can also be attached anywhere you want with the peace of mind it will remail intact
through all eventualities.

2845  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: May 01, 2022, 08:51:25 AM
Live right now Fokina vs Tiafoe
Nice tennis match its like a pleasure See both playing.

Again Tiafoe was able to recover a match that seemed irremediably lost.
I have the impression that his "jester" style is always an excellent excuse to win the pubblic graces and make opponents nervous and distracted.

Too bad for Fokina that he completely lost his concentration in the final parts of the match ... he was not able to close the match and results changed from 5-4 to 5-7 Roll Eyes Embarrassed

Yes I watched the 2nd and 3rd sets, Korda was cruzing to a win in the second set,
4-1. Tiafoe repeated his performance against Fokina. He is a jester, the audience love
it and he gets energy from that.

Let's hope that this is the beginning of Raducanu's return to the top of women's tennis   Grin
I was a little surprised by the news that she changed coaches again, only after a few months:
Source:   https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/61226768
I thought that it was discussed before, that's why I didn't post about Raducanu changing coach again for the N time.

It tells me in a way about her insecurity in a way.
Does anyone follow this sad story about a once great tennis champion who went bankrupt, broke the law and goes to jail?
A sad ending for the great tennis champion and role model for many young tennis players.

Source: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-61276378
I'm familiar with Boris Becker as has a great career as well. If I'm not mistaken, he was even hired as coach of Djokovic (correct me if I'm wrong). He has great battles with Ivan Lendl and other great tennis player in that era. So it's sad to see this kind of story about how he turn out to be after his tennis.

Ah yes I remember Boris playing too. In the Tennis world this is rare IMO for a former
number 1 top player to be in so much trouble. I would hazard a guess that he possibly
didnt have the right people around him at certain stages.

I'm now three wins from six outings, so I've taken a hammering as well.

Well I'm 2 from 6, so a hammering is an understatement ok I know I'm betting small but its all relative

Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs v Sydney Roosters - ML Sydney Roosters @1.17 - Amount Taken: $2.50 - Potential Payout: $2.93

Parramatta Eels v North Queensland Cowboys - ML Parramatta Eels @.27 - Amount Taken: $2.00 - Potential Payout: $2.54

St.George/Illawarra Dragons v Wests Tigers - ML Wests Tigers @2.43 - Amount Taken: $1.00 - Potential Payout: $3.65

Newcastle Knights v Melbourne Storm - ML Melbourne Storm @ 1.07 - Amount Taken: 0.1mBTC - Potential Payout: 0.11mBTC

This in a way is good for the competition, there are two rock solid so far teams, Panthers
and Storm, there are unexpected losses by the Rabbitohs, Eels and Roosters, there were
some unexpected wins by the Wests Tigers for example.

I think I will be reducing the amount of games I will be betting on the next round.

2848  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is your bitcoin hero (excluding Satoshi)? on: May 01, 2022, 07:03:08 AM
my hero is a friend who first introduced me to bitcoin, because I believe everyone has their own hero and perception, where as you mentioned is a hero for those who know bitcoin and how many times have you been to a party not to me
but it doesn't rule out that theymos is also my hero because he who gave space here provides a lot of info about bitcoin and other alts

In a lot of cases particularly from pre 2019, friends have been influential in introducing
others to Bitcoin especially as these introductions have proved very good advice.

I want to add "Family" to the list, My Brother who is a serious Bitcoiner introduced me
to Bitcoin back in December 2016.

He is the unrecognised equivalent to Michael Saylor, if anyone asks him about Bitcoin
they better be prepared to have their ears burned!

he had an account here a few years ago but is not active
2849  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is your bitcoin hero (excluding Satoshi)? on: April 30, 2022, 06:10:51 PM
Seeing as Michael Saylor is on the list, I'll back him, I  follow him on Twitter and get
numerous tweets per day from him.

I really admire him, he is a Bitcoiner on another level. He transformed himself from a
critic to pretty much all in.

Really everyone who has been nominated already are truly worthy along with all the Bitcoin
developers.

I took physical delivery of my coin today, really happy with the result

I took some photos with some "warm" lighting, I might add some more
using some studio lights.

/\

sounds like a big shake up,

Aere there many other people who would be thinking along the same lines as this in terms
of introducing relegation?

IN a little under five hours the Auckland Warriors will take on the Canberra Raiders - the Auckland team will *probably* win, but after their sixty point loss to Melbourne I'm beginning to lean back the other way and think Canberra might be in with a chance even though both teams are in the #NRLbottomSIX .

It turned out to be a very close game and as we have seen a few times so far in the
early stages of this season a field goad seperates the winner from the looser on 82"

Another very strange scoreline from todays match between the Eels and the Cowboys,
The cowboys gave the home side a right thumping, I just find that scoreline hard to
comprehend, The Eels just scored once....

After todays games, I am 1 from 4 games played

2852  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-04-29] PANAMA ASSEMBLY PASSES BILL REGULATING BITCOIN on: April 30, 2022, 07:44:37 AM
I've read something yesterday on this topic and imho it worth getting quoted here. Basically the "no capital gains for Bitcoin" part is not something so special in Panama.

Quote
Panama is a territorial tax system. If you're already a tax resident of Panama, you only pay taxes on assets that are physically located in Panama. This means that crypto assets like bitcoin or ether are not subject to capital gains tax because they do not have a physical location, they live on the internet.

https://bitcoinmagazine.com/business/interview-discussing-panamas-crypto-bill-with-architects

Good point, but I suppose many people would not be aware of that, its good
to have both points no capital gains TAX on crypto, or any investment highlighted.

the article states over 50% of the population
do not have a bank account.
This could be great for BTCitcoin [assuming that their president doesn't veto the bill], but I don't think it'd have a significant impact [for now] with the internet penetration rate of roughly 66%!

They would have to look at and I'm sure they are increasing the infrastructure.

It looks like very slow progress... Its easy to forget that not every country is as
developed as Europe, The U.S or Australia for example.

Quote
In Panama, internet penetration has been growing steadily over the past couple of years.
In 2019, approximately 63.6 percent of the Panamanian population accessed the internet,
up from 40 percent recorded in 2010. As of 2020, Panama's internet penetration rate
was still below Central America and Mexico's average.
2853  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Bitcoin & Other Crypto Cold Storage Bank Notes on: April 29, 2022, 09:05:34 PM
There will be a lot of people here who will vouch for Polymerbit, they are the market
leaders in crypto cold storage banknotes.

Its interesting to hear you want to create some notes of your own design, for the
stock Cotton/linen mix it sounds quite specialised which mwans you are going to be
looking at outsourcing the production.

Keep us up to date on your progress.
2854  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union | League // Super |Sixes|Sevens | Pro14 | Cups & Tours | Olympics. on: April 29, 2022, 08:39:27 PM
I havent seen that tournament listed.

10 years is quite a long time to try and develop the professional game, why are players
still amateur? is there not enough finance in the game?

The most famous Argentinian player in my country is Felipe Contepomi who played #10
for Leinster and scored 1225 points over 6 years. He is still currently with Leinster as a coach.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felipe_Contepomi

Sorry for replying so late.

Look what happens is that here the sport that monopolizes everything at a popular level is soccer as it is public knowledge.
The rest of the sports are played a lot but as secondary sports.
In the case of rugby, here in Argentina only middle or upper class people play it.

This leads to few people watching or following it in such a way that it is profitable on television (although the main tournament is broadcast by ESPN) and sponsors certain big brands.

Yes obviously I know him, if I remember correctly he is the top scorer of the team (national team) or now they passed him and this second I don't remember well.

In these years the emigration of many young players to Europe for wages is even greater. Even those who are bad travel on their own, for example, to a country that is starting to want to get into the world of rugby like Spain and play there for money.

No problem @darxiaomi

In Ireland where I am from Gaelic Games monopolises the sport scene, Soccer is
second followed very closely by Rugby Union. Gaelic Games has such a dominance
that we could partake more competitively in other disciplines but we dont.

All of our talented soccer players end up in the U.K. Support for U.K soccer teams
massively outweigh support for the national club soccer teams.

We really punch above our weight in terms of Rugby Union. It used to be seen here
as an upper middle class sport but that has changed over the last  20 or so years
since the game turned professional, its a slow process but more and more "average"
people are getting behind the sport. Hopefully it will happen for Argentinian Rugby
too.

Rugby League Australia

I managed to pick up the last two wagers for round eight:  (two from three this week so far)

Brisbane Broncos - Cronulla Sharks      Money Line   Cronulla Sharks @ 1.25   Taken Amount: 0.10 mBTC   Possible Payout: 0.125 mBTC
South Sydney Rabbitohs - Manly Sea Eagles   Money Line   South Sydney Rabbitohs @ 1.60   Taken Amount: 0.10 mBTC   Possible Payout: 0.16 mBTC

Gold Coast Titans - Penrith Panthers   Money Line   Penrith Panthers @ 1.09   Taken Amount: 0.10 mBTC   Possible Payout: 0.109 mBTC
Newcastle Knights - Melbourne Storm   Money Line   Melbourne Storm @ 1.07   Taken Amount: 0.10 mBTC   Possible Payout: 0.107 mBTC

At half time, the Titans led 4 - 0 against the Panthers (during half time the price of the Panther's blew up but I wasn't able to get online quick enough when the prices flipped 10+ for the Panthers and 1.09 for the Titans.  By the 70th minute, the price had returned to favour the Panthers (should have put more on the game Wink ) - In the end I'm happy to pick up the small win.

Next week I've locked in the Rabbitohs to win over the Broncos.  The game should be on par with tonight's block buster Rabbitohs Vs Sea Eagles game.  The Sea Eagles lost a player in the ninth minute for a dangerous tackle/throw and had some good playing over the 80 minutes.  The first half really seemed to last a long time, but that was how exciting the game plays were, not a lack of play if that makes sense?  In the end on Full time, the Rabbitohs scored (but didn't convert) to win 40 -22 .

South Sydney Rabbitohs - Brisbane Broncos   Money Line   South Sydney Rabbitohs @ 1.29   Taken Amount: 0.10 mBTC   Possible Payout: 0.129 mBTC

Also next week, the Sea Eagles play the Easts Tigers.  For the moment, I'd like to say my monies on the Sea Eagles, however, I'm going to hold off till Monday or Tuesday before I decide.

I am 1 from 2 2 games played ATM

Rollbit

Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs v Sydney Roosters - ML Sydney Roosters @1.17 - Amount Taken: $2.50 - Potential Payout: $2.93

Parramatta Eels v North Queensland Cowboys - ML Parramatta Eels @.27 - Amount Taken: $2.00 - Potential Payout: $2.54

St.George/Illawarra Dragons v Wests Tigers - ML Wests Tigers @2.43 - Amount Taken: $1.00 - Potential Payout: $3.65

Nitrogensports

Brisbane Broncos v Cronulla Sharks - ML Cronulla Sharks @ 1.25 - Taken Amount: 0.06mBTC - Possible Payout: 0.08mBTC

Gold Coast Titans v Penrith Panthers - ML Penrith Panthers @ 1.08 - Amount Taken: 0.1mBTC - Potential Payout: 0.11mBTC

Newcastle Knights v Melbourne Storm - ML Melbourne Storm @ 1.07 - Amount Taken: 0.1mBTC - Potential Payout: 0.11mBTC

I didnt bet on the Rabbitohs v Sea Eagles game, I havent been confident too much
on the Rabbitohs. Sea Eagles losing a player early on ith a Red card was always going
to spell disaster but the score line was even enough until around 50 minutes.

Thats really the only way to bet on the Panthers and Storm, wait for them to go behind
and the odds to change otherwise its hardly worth betting.
2855  Bitcoin / Press / [2022-04-29] PANAMA ASSEMBLY PASSES BILL REGULATING BITCOIN on: April 28, 2022, 11:30:25 PM
Panama with this news seems not to have gone as far as El Salvador but they are
certainly moving in a similar direction.

Panama definitely see Bitcoin as being a very large entity in future economy and
are looking to tap into the technology while providing their citizens with an alternative
to the traditional banking system because the article states over 50% of the population
do not have a bank account.

https://bitcoinmagazine.com/.amp/business/panama-assembly-passes-bill-regulating-bitcoin-crypto

Some extracts

Quote
After the president’s signature, the bill will regulate the usage of bitcoin as payment in the country.

Quote
The bill seeks to provide regulatory clarity for the optional usage of cryptocurrencies
as payment in Panama, Silva added. Moreover, the goal is to incentivize foreign companies
to open offices in the Central American country as well as to foster local entrepreneurship in
the cryptocurrency services business.

Personally I like this aspect:

Quote
There will be no capital gains tax on bitcoin investments.

OMG, I know I asked the question if the Broncos could retain their ladder positioning,
but not really believing they could.....

Well done to them, the result is not good for our bets. My confidence level for the Sharks
is getting less and less, not to score in the second half is very poor.

Are there other teams which could qualify and be competitive in the NRL? I know this
comes back to the conversation regarding relegation.

From a Wiki page I see and didnt realise there were so many teams from NSW.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rugby_league_in_New_South_Wales

Quote
The headquarters of the National Rugby League (NRL) is in Sydney. Greater Sydney
is home to 9 of the 16 National Rugby League teams: the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs,
Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, Manly Warringah Sea Eagles, Parramatta Eels, Penrith Panthers,
South Sydney Rabbitohs, Sydney Roosters, and Wests Tigers, as well as being the northern
home of the St. George Illawarra Dragons, which is half-based in Wollongong. A tenth
New South Welsh team, the Newcastle Knights, is based in Newcastle.
2857  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ATM Installed in Mexican Senate Building !!! on: April 28, 2022, 09:48:53 AM
Well, it is a clever plan to install it inside the Senate Building, because it shows the rest of the decision makers that "Bitcoin" is a household technology and also that the concept can work. The Senate will not be positive towards Bitcoin, if they do not see that Bitcoin can become a "currency" and that there are support for it.  Wink

Well Done... to Senator Indira Kempis for making that move, let's hope she can change the President's mind on Bitcoin becoming a currency, because a lot of remittance are being done between Mexicans working in the USA and their families in Mexico.  Wink

Its a clever plan and very much an "in your face" plan but I'm not sure how effective
the ATM alone will be. I'm sure at this stage any of the decision makers will be clued
in to Bitcoin or at least have some knowledge at this stage.

Maybe indeed it is an effort to normalise Bitcoin, to show how accessible it can be,
regardless of the inflated fees by using the machine

The remittance utility which Bitcoin can offer is definitely viable.

Update on the tournament in Munich, Top seed Zverev has been beaten in the Round of 16
by Rune with what seems like an easy enough win 3-6, 2-6.

Zverev has really gone off the boil since probably his outburst and loss of self control
at Mexico earlier this year.

Well done to Rune though with what seems like a fantastic performance.
2859  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hardware recommendation on: April 27, 2022, 10:29:57 PM
Wouldnt a big consideration be monitors?

Ideally or at least twin 24" curved LED monitors and obviously a graphics card to drive them.
You will want to be able to see full width charts and data below or as much data as possible
without having to scroll especially from side to side.

If you are going with 4 monitors like Rikafip suggests, you will need some sort of Monitor Arm,
I can vouch for the Humanscale M-Flex 8.1. All 4 arms are independently adjustable and dynamic
without the need to release levers to adjust them.
