2861  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't trade your Bitcoin like Laszlo Hanyecz on: May 22, 2022, 04:03:43 PM
Well, today is the main celebration of the Bitcoin Pizza day. May 22 marks the 12th anniversary of Bitcoin Pizza Day, a day when the cryptocurrency was used in a real-world transaction for the first time.
Actually, today is more like a Laszlo Day. Attention should be on him for making Bitcoin transaction believable. Many of us think (as it's today and now) that Laszlo was wrong to have made that deal because it would've worth a lot in today's world. Truth is that Bitcoin was worth what it was exchanged for then. Not many a people believed then that Bitcoin could be worth a fraction of what it's worth today and that was why it took Laszlo some time to even get his buyer at that exchange. I've read several articles in the past where Laszlo said he didn't have any regret doing what he did then. So, I think we shouldn't cry more than the bereaved on that issue. Yes, quite alright the value is worth a crazy figure now but I don't believe Laszlo would've kept his stash till date and had that benefit. He would've sold off during one of those FUD days before 2017.

Now, that's scary. I've never thought in that direction, and you're right.
It's not just about data security on the device, but also about protecting our privacy - although jealous women (but also husbands) don't mind peeking into their partner's device from time to time.
You know, the smartphone I use has this feature that I can activate that makes my phone unlocks itself whenever I'm around a certain area. However, it scares me to activate and use that feature till date. It's because of incidence like you've described that hasn't made me come around to using it. Device manufacturers want to make life easier for their users and then thieves want to beat users to it. It's good to know and select what features we should activate on our devices so as to further strengthen our security and not the opposite. Once again, thanks for the insight.

2864  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Pizza Day 2022 on: May 22, 2022, 02:02:08 PM
Same as I've been doing for the last 4-5 years, gonna bake my own bitcoin themed pizza. That is, If I have enough time. Worst case scenario is just ordering the pizza, but its not the same thing as making your own.
Definitely, this is one of the reasons Bitcoin has continued to remain relevant in spite of the negative press on its back. We've got so much love for this phenomenon and its creator, the maverick Satoshi. Your idea and practice to mark this day has given me an idea too. I hope to do something similar next year. Felicitations to all who has love for Bitcoin. Greater felicitations to Laszlo Hanyecz for making today a possibility.
2865  Other / Meta / Re: Biased or brainless moderators? on: May 22, 2022, 05:42:07 AM
It might be worth mentioning that making self moderated threads offering services here while you're a newbie might raise suspicions with both the mods and the people you're looking to work for - you're better off just waiting for mods.
Yeah, you're right. I wanted to say that in response to Lafu's comment on the OP going the way of self moderation. It's a no-no for a noob account.

Again, like The Pharmacist suggested; OP needs to tougher up and stay on their lane after reporting the issue to mods and not head over to the offender's thread to start a war. Doing that gives the offender a cynical pleasure that they're getting at OP's emotion.

2867  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide] Factors to consider before joining paid signature campaigns. on: May 21, 2022, 08:52:31 PM
Signature Campaign is Distraction to the  Member Rank.
When I first came I was focused, concentrated until I joined a campaign then my focus and concentration was diverted.
I tried hard to understand you from the perspective that you felt those in campaigns hardly put in more time in their postings than ordinarily they would do because they've post count to beat/meet. So, they just post to meet weekly quota? Well, except you don't post much weekly I don't see how that can distract your need for research on Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. For instance, if your weekly post count when you aren't in a campaign meets the average 25/weekly post requirements of most campaigns here I don't see how that would be a problem to you being in a campaign and churning out constructive posts.
2868  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I'm officially not a newbie anymore!!! on: May 21, 2022, 05:32:37 PM
Fortunately for me I was glad when I first achieved the tank of a newbie
What do you mean by receiving the rank of a newbie? Newbie is the ground floor rank of every newly registered member. You don't left a finger to achieve it.
2869  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Phones on mobile wallet becoming riskier on: May 21, 2022, 10:44:08 AM
~
In case someone forces you to unlock your smartphone that way, you won't have too many choices - either you'll do it voluntarily, or you risk losing your finger (or your whole hand).
This one cuts across every security feature we put on our devices, not just on mobile phones. Be it password, pincode, facelock or fingerprint, people can be coerced into unlocking them at gun or weapon point. However, the best preventive method is not to carry such a device that holds out treasures around. I try not to take the smartphone phone  I've important stuff on along whenever I embark on long journey or during unsure movements. By unsure movement I meant in territories inhabited by touts and hoodlums or late night outings.

Quote
Furthermore, if you are sleeping or in a state where you are not fully aware (drugs/alcohol), someone can use it and unlock your device.
Now, that's scary. I've never thought in that direction, and you're right.

I work more accurately when it is short term.
It's good you've developed a pattern you work with. By long term you mean trend change or timeframe? Also, are you highly profitable using this method of making analysis based on a short term? Can you twerk your pattern to see if it works long term also? I asked those questions because I've done short term timeframes and have seen how it can mess up one's mind. It will seem easy and profitable for a while but during chopping market the strategy is likely to collapse. I'm all in for longer term strategy. It gives me enough room to plan and do other stuff offline, and also keep my mind at rest.
2871  Economy / Speculation / Re: Best time for me to buy on: May 20, 2022, 11:32:02 PM
I never have a special target to buy and sell, if I feel I have money then I will buy or vice versa will sell if I really need cash, of course there are many things that I feel, I once bought Bitcoin when the highest price is 2017 at the price of $ 18k Then sell only $ 6K and in 2021 I bought Bitcoin at a price of $ 52K and sold the beginning of the year when the price of $ 44K.
Go and learn Technical Analysis (TA). If you continue with guts feelings alone to make trade calls, you're going to wreck yourself sooner than you would know. Only gambling works on mere feelings, not trading. That's what makes the difference. Except you view trading as gambling, and that would be wrong perception too. Just take a look at when you bought and sold without any navigation and what consequences you were faced with in loss. Take time off, go learn TA.
2872  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Phones on mobile wallet becoming riskier on: May 20, 2022, 09:03:44 PM
This is one thing I don't fancy about those who go on live video cast to talk about how much they invest and what ROI they expect or make from such an investment. It makes them vulnerable to attacks.

Naaah, what makes you think that a desktop PC is safe from malware?
PCs have become like mobile phones in developed countries where almost everyone owns and carries one around. It's in underdeveloped countries that PCs are seen as an exclusive acquisition of the rich and only a few carry it.

What is most risky that I do not like about phone is that people are using fingerprint for everything they want to access, making the risks of this kind of coin theft to be high
How so, please explain I urge thee. I would think a fingerprint feature on a phone or any other device is tough to break. I use it on my phone and it's seamless to use.

You lost $28 from your $75 investment and you freaked out. It's even less than 50% and they already sold. That's not how cryptos or Bitcoin works because it's not a get rich quick scheme. Besides, you said you bought this Bitcoin which you sold off in panic of loss three years ago. That should be in 2019, right? That was in the thick of bear season which prolonged to 2020. By last quarters of 2020, the bull season returned and Bitcoin went from as low as $3,200 to $64k+. If you had heDl, you would've been singing Bitcoin a sonnet by now.

Unfortunately there are always some people who introduce bitcoin to others as something you can buy to make profit! But bitcoin is not a money making machine. It is a currency that is decentralized and is meant to be used as an alternative payment system to the existing centralized payment systems that are filled with numerous issues.
You don't think the belief of a turnover is the major reason most people buy Bitcoin? Certainly, truth be told, that's the main reason most people hodl – the investment potential. Maybe there are a few who see Bitcoin as a payment channel but trust me, most see it as an asset and may not even know what decentralization is all about. This informs why people invest in Bitcoin, including institutional investors.
2874  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie! I've learnt to always start somewhere! on: May 20, 2022, 04:54:43 PM
I have always thought Cryptocurrency is a complex subject meant for a specialized set of people who are intellectual, smart, financially buoyant, very careful and so on.
This isn't to scare you but the part of your comment that I bolded is true. Cryptos involve meticulousness. Every little detail is important and relevant. You may not cherish that until you overlook a few letters/digits and make a wrong transfer or you unwittingly expose your wallet details or log on a phishing site. Don't jettison your belief of cryptos requiring carefulness. While every other items you listed there could be taken as a myth, carefulness shouldn't. It's important.
2875  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: indicators on: May 19, 2022, 06:26:47 PM
im new to trading im using RSI and bb for indicators. I was told when the candle stick hits the lower bottom of the boliengor bands, and is under 30RSI it's going to go up, but how do i find one of these before it happens? i've been watching the same coin for 21hours and nothins happen yet.
I believe so many veteran traders started that way by using BB and RSI to preempt the market on where price is headed. Over time, you will realize that those indicators repaint and aren't reliable on their own. I used "repaint" in the sense that those indis adjust to price and aren't firm in relating with price. For a better prediction, add a line indicator of support and resistance to those two you mentioned. Again, bear in mind that there's nothing like bottom and top in the real sense of trading. So, waiting or aiming for a top or bottom is a wrong move.
2876  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Did you live through the last bear market ? If so, what did you learn ? on: May 19, 2022, 12:24:45 PM
Assuming we are in a bear market, what can we expect ? Let me first just say that this is my first bear market, so I feel a little unprepared as I lost a huge amount of money ( I'm still in the green fortunately )
It's better to tether your profits now if you're still in green. Bear season isn't that palatable a thing to witness. It has wrecked a whole lot of people who kept thinking price would revert and they became profitable again. Sadly, price levels don't seem to hold during bear season. Everything keeps crashing.

The only thing I do know which I learn from the past mistake is never to hold any crypto when halving is already done, sell and secure your profit since mostly after halving the price dump just like what we see nowadays.
It's true that price takes a beating after halving but that's a year after. I also learnt that a year to halving price picks. So, I will say from experience that one year before halving and one year after it are better times for Bitcoin. Anything else, is a trade risk.
2877  Other / Meta / Re: How do you feel when someone gives you MERIT? on: May 19, 2022, 10:09:23 AM
Merit ruined my life.
The merit that ruined your life, let it ruin mine also(lols). I want to experience how it feels.
LoyceV already explained what that comment from hilariousandco was all about in a post above. Don't take it seriously for it was just pure sarcasm. 👇

"Merit ruined my life" is something shitposters used to say. It confirms the Merit system works.
2878  Other / Meta / Re: How do you feel when someone gives you MERIT? on: May 19, 2022, 06:46:05 AM
How do the people I have given merit feel? Do they have the same feelings as me like being happy and feeling valued. or each level has a different feeling.
I guess everyone here then felt the same way receiving merit the first few weeks/months it was instituted. Now I can say the feelings are different. Some users don't care any more whether they receive it or not, especially if they're highly ranked to legendary.

When I saw merits on it which were 4 from different senior members I felt like someone that just won an academic award. And seriously that even affected my mood throughout the day and was where my love for the forum escalated.
This is reason enough to merit any newbie who has meaningful posts out there. You never can tell how that makes their day. This is why we all have to share love, life doesn't end in this forum.

To merit or not to merit, that is the question.
... And curiosity merit also ruined his life in that drama.
