2881  Economy / Speculation / Re: Possible Local Bitcoins 800 BTC hack or exist scam on: April 26, 2015, 04:54:39 PM
People are posting "scam confirmed". Pretty sure they are just shorters CUNTS.

'people' would be a bit of a stretch for some of these entities...

...SCUM CONFIRMED!

800BTC for a scam?
That's like robbing a bank for the candy and pens, not a whole lot in the grand scheme of things. I'm sure it's a tech issue and will be resolved. Shorters are just talking their book like usual spreading bs to get their orders filled. Bitcoin is still fine and dandy.

I don't think they have not scammed .... maybe they have only transferred the bitcoin to another address (only for a security purpose).

I DON'T THINK YOU HAVE NOT READ THE POST.
clearly the issue was already resolved yet you still post your nonsense for sig campaign.

I have read the thread and I only wanted to say my personal opinion (and reply to those users). If you don't want to see my signature, use the grue's script (you can find it here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1003570.0) or maybe better, use the ignore function. Have a great day.
2882  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Advcash - a new "anonymous" prepaid card [Recharge it with bitcoin] on: April 26, 2015, 04:34:11 PM
ordered mine 1 week ago

I have received my card in less than 10 days, I think you will reiceve your in 1-2 weeks.

I have received mine and I tested it in a store yesterday. Completely flawless, first Bitcoin Debit Card I have ever used.

Perfect, thanks for the feedback!
2883  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Is Mass Bitcoin Adoption Still Not Happening? on: April 26, 2015, 04:19:44 PM
Because it is not 'user friendly' some people have never used a credit card, or they don't have any knowledge about internet or how to use a smartphone or pc. For the moment I think bitcoin needs a real killer app... and it should be more user friendly (most important it should keep the decentralization).

Exactly, user-friendlyness is an important problem to solve. PC-based and also web wallets are still very hard to use for non-techies. Smartphone wallets are on a good way, but can still be improved. And security is another issue - I would still not recommend BTC to people with standard Windows PCs.

Exactly! Bitcoin will stay only a valid alternative for send a large quantity of money (but also a little quantity) without spend a lot of fees.

...
I think in the future we'll not even see addresses as we see them now. It's just not intuitive having to copy paste all those long ass alphanumerical strings. I think Andreas mentioned this in some speech. Bitcoin may change a lot in the following years from now, before it goes mainstream.

Maybe it could be implemented a sort of alias system (like the nxt one).

....
you know that copy-pasted is not needed right? there is the adress book...you can simply choose the address by clicking on "choose previously used address", so this is a non-issue for adoption...

it strange that it doesn't work if you put only the label, this should be fixed

But you should copy at least one time the address before save it in the personal address-book. However the problem, like I said previously it is only based on a 'non user-friendlyness' nothing else.

I need 1 BTC ASAP .

Thank you

Scammers seem to be getting lazier (and greedier) these daysSmiley

... as always, how much time (the scammer) spend to create a new address + forum account? I think less than 20-30 seconds, but the problem here is : they don't understand that it is really useless try to scam (no one will give you 1.30 btc and especially without provide a valid collateral).

Nah, I think you are wrong... you are not looking for 1 btc, you are looking for a lot of negative trust. No collateral , no loan.... come on .

Hello,

I am thomas, a 36 yo french.

I am turning back in France after a while spent in UK.

I'll start a job this next month.

Loan amount required: 1 btc
Term length: 1.5 months
Interest: 0.3 btc

My BTC wallet :

1GrZj7N1YDCd7Aypcu6wtKtVAsdUJTskfM

And collateral?

Prepare for an huge wave of negative trust  Roll Eyes, no collateral no loan... (it is not a rule, but it is better to provide a valid collateral - also because you are a newbie user who has registered only today).

I think OgNasty expressed a valid point, also if the forum staff will put a rule don't you think a lot of users will 'bypass' it?

Yeah, some would. Some rob houses even though there are laws against it. But not as many as would if there were no such laws.
 Smiley

Yes of course, but if there will be a rule here in the forum the 'forum staff' should work x2-x3 try (en)force them to all the forum users. I have read some mod. that it will be really annoying and stressful for them.

I think OgNasty expressed a valid point, also if the forum staff will put a rule don't you think a lot of users will 'bypass' it? This is the unique reason why buying & selling (or have more than one) forum account is not forbidden... because it is impossible to stop this practice.

You can answer my one question? What benefit does the forum get from multiple accounts (especially those accounts created using one IP address)? Any good reason why is it allowed?

Also regarding members going against the rule. Laws are as well broken. That means there shouldn't be any law? Saying that as well does not make sense. Rules can atleast TRY to stop it.

Then if you think you are in the right side, send a PM to theymos & open a thread here in the meta section (something of more articulated, not like TerminatorXL did with this thread).
2891  Other / Meta / Re: Contribute To Bitcoin Economy... on: April 26, 2015, 02:02:58 PM

Don't blame the forum.  Blame the people buying old accounts and paying spammers to participate in signature campaigns.  They're the ones funding this nonsense.

Why shouldn't I blame the forum? The forum rules have flaws and I am a member here. If I have an issue, I can't speak about it? The forum is letting people to create more than one account and hence inviting spammers to spam and scammers to scam. When the latter happens, the only thing is said "Scams aren't moderated."

If the rule of creating more than one account and selling accounts is stopped, then that will be a positive change else everyone should just bear the flaws as of now.

2892  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Adnormal very large transcation fee on: April 26, 2015, 01:59:59 PM
maybe another hacker that want to transfer asap his fund, into another address?

the bitstamp hacker used 1 btc as a fee, 89 is another story, but it could be

No I do not think it is for the question of a fast confirmation of the transaction. Also with 0.01 only btc you are sure that your tx will be included in the first block, 1 btc it is expensive and also 89 BTC. Like I said previously, it is only a mistake and here you can find a lot of information:

...Buy a bitcointalk account!
Or sell one. Judging by the "Auctions" & "Digital Goods" subs, it's the hottest thing for 2015.
And most of the credit, I must add, rightfully belongs to the forum staff. Thanks, guys, for making this place what it is today. Satoshi would be proud.

Another thread whining about forum policies, rly? You bet. Salty locked my last one, bitch to him.

Oh my God, another thread ... amazing! Now, what is the purpose of this (new) thread? I think SaltySpitoon had some valid reason when he locked your previous thread.
2894  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Adnormal very large transcation fee on: April 26, 2015, 01:21:52 PM
Could this be a mistake? I can't think of many wallets that would actually confuse users into sending such a transaction. Could this actually be a generous individual?

Yes of course, it is only a mistake.

Same thing happened before and the block founder pool was ghash.io and they returned the amount
Check here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=602152.0

This guy is lucky that he came across to good will pools.

wallet apps are user unfriendly, it is one of reason that Bitcoin could not get popular.

But what app would make it confusing enough for someone to mistake the transaction fee with the amount to be sent? Wouldn't someone that owns so much BTC already know the difference.

I do not think it was intentional, who is so intelligent to put 85 btc as fee?

High transaction fee is almost useless. It does not make next new block generation be faster, but just affects miners whether to include your transaction into next block to be generated. I think high transaction fee should be disallowed in wallet app to prevent  money loss from typo or other careless mistakes

In that case I agree with you, maybe a double confirm before send the bitcoin transaction. I think it is really necessary and can prevent this type of mistake.
2895  Other / Off-topic / Re: If BTC goes to $1000 or more, what would you do? on: April 26, 2015, 12:32:28 PM
If bitcoin will go 'again' to 1'000 dollars I will surely dump all my bitcoins and buy again when the price will be less than 900-800 dollars, but I want to be sincere ... I do not think the bitcoin price (not value) will go back to 1k dollars * bitcoin.

2899  Economy / Lending / Re: House Broken Into - Need Loan for Monitor and CCTV Camera Replacment (BTCjam) on: April 26, 2015, 11:15:57 AM
How much BTC are you looking for? Do you have any collateral?

You haven't verified two important things, income and bank.

Yes these are my 2 biggest issues with my account, the reason i have no bank verification is that the Barclays UK option will not go through, seems to be an issue with BTCjam - The barclays international goes through but the UK link does not work.

In regards to my income verification, Im classed as self employed in the UK and did send a bank statement to prove my income, but pay slips were needed something i do not have as im self employed.

In regards to collateral would you want it to be physical or digital ?

As im happy to put any property I have against the loan, but not sure how this would work for an international lender, or im happy to give some proof of income with bank statements etc if needed.

If you let me know what sort of collateral would be needed i can see what i can get.

Here all the information:

What is considered collateral?

Collateral is something that can easily be resold to cover the loan value plus interest should the loaner default on the loan.

- The best collateral is another crypto-currency, such as Litecoin (also written as LTC).  Coins must be moderately traded on multiple exchanges.
- Some digital wares such as domain names can be considered as long as the user cannot recover it.
- Small valuable items that can be shipped though the mail - i.e. gold, silver, iphones, etc.
- Large items, such as a motorcycle or guitar can be used if you live close to the person giving you the loan.  Try localbitcoins.com

What is not considered collateral?

- Items not in hand.  Don't trust a user that promises to give you something *when* they default!  Tracking numbers only show something has been mailed - it could be an empty box.
- Future income.  You can prove you'll make xx coins in the next few days, but nothing forces you to send those coins to pay your debt.
- Identification.  So what if they can prove who they are.  Are you going to spend more money and time taking them to court on untested legal grounds?  You'll probably just walk away, like everyone does.  ID is useless.
- Games codes or similar.  To verify the collateral you need to use the code, which destroys the collateral.  Consider this a purchase, not a loan.  (Post in Digital Goods instead)
- Most new alt-coins or alt-coins that trade for satoshis are not good collateral as they can become worthless overnight.
- Paypal should never be used - they are anti-bitcoin and will rule against you 100% of the time.  Escrow can't even help, as paypal charge backs can come over 6 months later!
- Most valuable online accounts can easily be recovered by social engineering (the user contacting support to say they were hacked, and regain control of the account)

When should you use Escrow?

 - Never send collateral directly to a low activity/post account offering you a loan, as they are likely to take your coins and disappear. (Escrow Scam)
 - Use only "Hero Members" or "Legendary Members" for escrow - they have a vested interest in the community with the time they have spent here.
 - Do not use a third party escrow service unless hero members can vouch for it - it's too easy to create a website, do a few escrows then disappear with a big balance.  Rinse and repeat.

When considering the trustworthiness of a user, ignore "Posts" as there are schemes that pay a user per post.  A person can make 1,000 useless posts in one day and contribute nothing to the community.  Instead look at the "Activity" number - that gives you a more accurate tally of how involved the user is in the community.

Ignore the sob stories that users post - it's just a scam to get your coins.  If a person really is in such a situation, they can turn to family, friends or other social circles they frequent.  They are just posting in our community because the payment is anonymous and irreversible.
Lastest scam sob story: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=908707.0

Finally, do not encourage scammers to come here!  Giving out loans to newbies with no collateral, or loans to people with negative trust from "OldScammerTag" are likely to get you negative-trusted by other users, like me.   Smiley
