If 8 people answered "Undecided" those are somewhat joining the other 387-55 peoples. Bitcointalk doesn't know what to do!

Well "it's barely enough to keep cryptos afloat" heavily depends upon the critically high inflation of cryptos. Somewhere 10% Inflation for Bitcoin had been mentioned (due to mining new coins) and staggering 30% for Litecoin, which I would not dare to touch as an investor.
(Can someone deliver precise numbers, or locate the posting that pronounced these? 25*6*24BTC a day against Total Supply, similar calculation for LTC mining.)

Vorsicht vor BlockNET und allen beteiligten Coins. Sehr merkwürdige Dinge machen grade die Runde.

Again, on bittrex when I click on the BTC-CND order book on the top, I can see a green and a violet part, both representing sells and buys of course. How should I read this ?
Those are subscripted with *Uses the top 50 levels of the buy and sell orderbooks
displaying the orders, which are a hint if people are currently in a mood to buy, or to sell. Bullish or bearish situation.
You get that in a more reliable way by a single glance at the candlesticks diagram.

Basically Jimmy Zed hit the nail. Microcaps, smallish coins are like featherweigth in the winds.

What do you think about pumpgroups, is there any that is trustworthy and good ?
Since their inner core rips off part of their members, they have to continually attract new investors willing to participate. This looks like becoming more difficult. Earlier groups charged a membership fee (which they used as pump capital, of course!) just that has diminished from this "market". Now they do pump announcements for free...

Firstly, note that the outdated firefox browser was the weak link, an implementation issue which led to the knowledge of 'TOR usage'. This type of discovery would likely place your IP address at a high enough 'score' to record data.

Firstly, note that the "was outdated" excuse got installed after Snowden blown the lid of. Firefox is infected purposefully and on a whole. Each and every version.

Second, everybody who is a human "scores". You are a suspect regardless of your action. Labor camps are still due to construction.

2887  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 1 Uro coin = 1 tonne of urea on: October 31, 2014, 06:15:48 AM
My friend, your doing it wrong then Smiley You buy , then you hold, do not sell at a loss, if you see the price is going down and you decide to sell, then do it but buy and accumulate more and then hold.. sell after a week or more then you get your profit.

Exactly, going short. The "traditional" pump'n'dump mechanics begin to show fatigue against pegged coins and in all honesty ... have not brought cryptocoins anywhere, at all. Definitely the exact opposite of market adoption.

The groups show fatigue, too. Since their inner core rips off part of their members, they have to continually attract new investors willing to participate. This looks like becoming more difficult. Earlier groups charged a membership fee (which they used as pump capital, of course!) just that has diminished from this "market". Now they do pump announcements for free...

2888  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: HDD Proof of Capacity Mining, is it Viable? on: October 30, 2014, 04:15:10 PM
HDD Mining is now possible through a coin called Burstcoin. While there are ways of mining Burstcoin using PoW methods, BurstCoin is meant to be mined using a unique proof of capacity algorithm.

Prior to mining, miners generate segments of data known as plots that are saved to the hard-drive.
...

Do I have to write them to disk? Since you generate them yourself based on an algorithm, couldn't you just seek into the data by generating them on the fly? Aaaah answer: No, since the algorithm is that time costly that storing is the only viable way. That ... could work up to the moment somebody owns a computing cluster that generates the data on the fly, without need of diskspace.

Back on energy efficiency: PoS can do that, too. Inflation? Defineable like 1%.
Whenever BTC goes down, people everywhere all over the forum are complaining about Inflation due to newly emitted coins mined using PoW principle, block halving and high emittion curves  Smiley

No, due to lack of a next Bitcoin bubble.

"Such an attack could expose the identity of a bitcoin and Tor user, and allow the attacker to meddle with the victim's transactions, they said."

Can anybody located in between meddle with transactions? I think not, due to lack of keys.

For example the Metal traders were moving Metal from Warehouse to Warehouse and manipulating the markets. This is the extent that these companies will go to. They will do it to this market also. 10% would be more than enough to play with based on Free coin during mining.

Metals that tends to rust slowly. What is the expected impact of a commodity that rots away even faster? What of a corrosion free item like gold bars?

Just curious, observing!

Whatever the measure, it is too high for a pool to have more than 50% of total hash rate. I am comfortable for any pool to have less than 25%.

Rather saying, http://monero.crypto-pool.fr/ has 3.31 MH/sec of Network Hash Rate: 14.25 MH/sec - join it with
https://moneropool.com/ that has 9.95 MH/sec of Network Hash Rate: 14.27 MH/sec. => we obtain nearly 100% +- 30% total network power depending on network hash rate computation accuracy.

Even if they compute hash rate with some errors, till +-30% or 50% accuracy, ***this is ABNORMAL!!!***

Furthermore, if we look at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=583449.0 (this thread first page),
there are NO moneropool.com LISTED in recommended pools at all!!!!!

Who can explain, WTF happen with Monero?!!

Nor do they list dwarfpool.com which does 3121.874 khs just now. I asked upon that pool missing from the list before.
2895  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: An old investment method that works well for long-term crypo investments on: October 29, 2014, 01:43:16 AM
Not picking coins, but technology.

Means if you allready got Bitcoins, is there any reason to fetch Litecoins too? Maybe as a hedge, but then you allready stocked up enough in this field.
Cryptonote coins are another codebase. Picked XMR and BBR.
Then some of the mixer based coins that focus on anonymity.
Last comes coins that promise to get in touch with real trade, hinting at the URO (besides I still believe that one is a scamm).
Still considering concepts that use a new approach on mining. Staking, HDD mining, such. Just Microcaps are much research work and little volume.

This list is not complete. If you can think of "a class of it's own" coins, feel free to expand on my list.

Your approach totally did not mentioned selling coins. You need two sides of the same coin. Sometimes maybe it is the better investment approach to sell like 10$ a day?

2897  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: October 28, 2014, 03:27:54 PM
I'm already in full Monero and I'm stuck with these low prices. I wish I had more Bitcoins to buy Monero. It's clear it's a buy time.

And 30~29 clearly was a time to go short. Just daytrader economics do not work out here, mentioning that "self fullfilling prophecy" again. If everybody sells to rebuy lower, they will surprisingly discover the lowest bottom beeing 0.0000001 BTC

Two sane advises:
  • Only "invest" play money into cryptos
  • If situation turns out to become uncanny, just sweat it out. Twiddle thumbs, poke your nose, sit and watch.
Honestly, on the long term the simple approaches do work out. At least something to take from former Bitcoin history.

Where can we find the definition.  Of digital or crypto currency trading platform?

Maybe we can create one based upon

Quote
Once labeled a money transmitter, a business wishing to continue operating must pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to become licensed in each of the 50 states. And that’s only the beginning of the regulatory costs and legal hoop jumping.

Like "a crypto currency trading platform is something beeing located outside of the 50 states". Who would qualify with this definition? BTC-E, BTC China, BTER, Yunbi, even Kraken so I think this will need further pondering. But basically the toplist downwards allready falls into this definition pretty much.

Dark/Ducknote has promised PoS in a cryptonote. I don't see how this is really possible, considering that if you reveal to the network the amount of coins you're holding (and possibly how long you've been holding them) how you/your address remains anonymous, but they're implementation is supposed to be revealed in the next several months, so...we shall see.

Some will just refuse to reveal, others beein absolutely open on their wealthes. And all in between, so a variable slider for participation in the staking process would be a requirement. Or a simple on/off switch since one is allowed to own two wallets Cheesy
edit: remember you can create/transfer wallets anonymously.
Btw Duck was quacky, shouldn't have changed their name. Another argument for keeping things running on their path, once started.

Apologies guys - I fell asleep last night as I was about to post it (product of jet lag). I'm at the airport in Dubai, and as soon as I've managed to sit down and pull my laptop out I'll post it.

At least you are now a part of Igor Cassini's jet lag class. So let us keep the price up, or fluffypony cannot afford the backflight ticked having to settle down in the desert. 17 is hardly enough for a tent.
