Actually, my argument is quite sound.

Your rebuttal is flawed in the fact that Mt. Gox is not a decentralized crypto currency and is a private for-profit business.

You are grasping for straws, because I hope you realize my point has validity. If you don't realize that, you are dumb or a troll.. I'll let everyone guess which one..  Wink

Try again.

Notice how I asked for Abstract Coins and was even the first to confirm the genesis block, but the OP did not send me any coins?

He already had a list of friends/insiders to send coins to ready to go.

This is just another take on a premine or instamine scam, except it is done in everyone's faces nonchalantly.

I hope no one gives this real value...
2883  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [LTC] Litecoin Core Development Fundraising on: May 30, 2013, 12:57:10 AM
Read the above post very carefully, I make a very strong point for this thread being stickied.

It is something ANY ALT coin user should approve of for the reasons I stated in that post alone.
2884  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [LTC] Litecoin Core Development Fundraising on: May 30, 2013, 12:55:56 AM
I notice that you didn't rage when Terracoin/Feathercoin threads were stickied, but now because it's Litecoin you all the sudden have a problem with it?

Like it or not, Litecoin is the most valuable and widely adopted ALT coin. It deserves a sticky every now and then IMO.
There was no "fundraising" (this is begging BTW) thread stickied for any alt coin.

Litecoin is not the most valuable alt coin, and just because something is the most popular it does NOT deserve a sticky because of it's popularity. Stickies should be awarded based on importance, and chain forks are not the same as begging.

Begging is what bums do on the street, they then go buy Booze. Soliciting donations is more of a proper term for what they're doing. The Litecoin development team will improve Litecoin with your donations, which is mutually beneficial to Litecoin and all ALT coins (and then maybe buy some booze afterwards). But, the point is that everyone is actually reaping the benefits of donations, not just one guy that goes and gets drunk.

Why is this mutually beneficial to all ALT coins? Let's face it, Litecoin is the ALT coin golden child. Every new coin is striving to be like Litecoin and imitate the success Litecoin has had. The more successful Litecoin is, the more likely more people are to speculate in other ALT coins, and with deeper pockets too. If Litecoin is successful, it is a gateway to more people getting into the ALT coin community, and developing other coins.

I am trying to explain the same effect Bitcoin had for Litecoin. You think Litecoin would be worth 3$ right now if Bitcoin hadn't gone on a huge surge in value and adoption? Think again. But, it's obvious you're going to argue until you're blue in the face about this so I will just leave you with this:

TradeFortress - "Litecoin is not the most valuable alt coin."

With all due respect, do you even have basic reading comprehension?

THIS IS NOT AN IMPORTANT FORK ANNOUNCEMENT. ACTION IS NOT *NEEDED* ON THE PART OF USERS. IT IS A COMMERCIAL ADVERTISEMENT.

Action IS needed on the part of users.

Litecoin will die a slow death without further development and innovation, just like Terracoin/Feathercoin would have died if they were 51% attacked.

Yea the big QR codes!Looks like btc/ltc works for tpb.

Total Received   213.3924135 LTC    0.50658917 BTC   Undecided

It seems they change the addresses daily for privacy/legality reasons.

I only checked the Bitcoin address, but notice that all transactions into that address happened today.

TradeFortess:

Other ALT coins in recent history have been given stickies in this sub forum for important threads.

So, you're saying Litecoin shouldn't be given the same opportunity because it's unfair? That line of thinking actually sounds quite unfair to Litecoin to me.

I notice that you didn't rage when Terracoin/Feathercoin threads were stickied, but now because it's Litecoin you all the sudden have a problem with it?

Like it or not, Litecoin is the most valuable and widely adopted ALT coin. It deserves a sticky every now and then IMO.
2890  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [LTC] [ANN] Physical Litecoins by CryptoVest (Coming soon!!) on: May 29, 2013, 11:45:45 PM

If you want to make the coins more collectible, you can change the design every so often (every year, for example). You don't have to fake an error. That's a dumb idea.

This is what I am planning on if this is a success. I will only make a certain amount of coins in the first batch, and this design will never be minted again.  Smiley

I can haz silver rounds upon release?

People really like their silver, many people have asked me this.  Smiley

Perhaps I will do preorders for silver coins, as they are a little bit out of my budget to make them on my own dime.
2891  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] The digitalcoin marketplace and advertising platform - Surprise! on: May 29, 2013, 11:37:58 PM
I might use this if you accepted other currencies and prices were tied to the US dollar. Selling stuff... no thank you to tying the price to BTC, which can fluctuate $100/coin a day. Also, no thank you to you making me buy a currency that I don't own just so I can use the marketplace. Due to those two factors, this is going to have very little traffic.

I get it... you're trying to promote/develop Digicoin, but I think this purpose is already served just by the name of the marketplace. No need to make everyone use Digicoins to actually use the marketplace. I for instance, will not buy Digicoin just so I can use your marketplace, I'm sure there are many others that feel the same.

I would rather use Bitmit, where there is a much larger user base, and I am more likely to get more $$$ for things I sell and sell in more volume. But, if you supported other ALTs, I would be inclined to support your marketplace even though I don't use and haven't invested in Digicoin.
2892  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: *** [BMC] New Alt Coin | NO PRE-MINE | +++ MORE *** on: May 29, 2013, 11:04:38 PM
But wait... there's more! If you point your miners to BMC in the next 24 hours, we'll send you two coins for each coin you mine!!

Annnd, we are also including a free.... That's right, FREE, one gallon tub of Oxy Clean when you commit 1MH of rigs or more to the network!
2893  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [LTC] [ANN] Physical Litecoins by CryptoVest (Coming soon!!) on: May 29, 2013, 06:36:44 PM
Don't forget to put in an error in printing the first version, so that it becomes collectible.  Grin

I hope they become collectible regardless, however I cannot promise to mimick the error in the original casascius coins. First of all, I am a bit of a perfectionist. Secondly, I feel like its time for Litecoin to part from the image of being Bitcoin's little brother. Inherently this stigma will stick with Litecoin for a long time, but it is time we start looking into the future.  Smiley

I do think that would be funny though.  Grin Cheesy
2894  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [LTC] [ANN] Physical Litecoins by CryptoVest (Coming soon!!) on: May 29, 2013, 06:31:57 PM
So when can I give you my money!?!?!

 Grin Grin Grin

I may do preorders, but I am not certain yet. My original intent was to fund the project myself, however there have been unexpected expenses that I did not account for so this may not be possible. I will let everyone know soon.
2895  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [LTC] [ANN] Physical Litecoins by CryptoVest (Coming soon!!) on: May 29, 2013, 06:29:35 PM
So, you want to create a physical currency, to represent a digital currency?

Correct  Smiley
2896  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [LTC] [ANN] Physical Litecoins by CryptoVest (Coming soon!!) on: May 29, 2013, 06:27:34 PM
Crosspost from Litecoin forums..

After much thought, despite there being a few people that don't like the designs, I am going to continue into production using either Likehero's or Zinodaur's design (I have not decided yet which one). No matter what design I end up using, there will always be people that don't like it. Everyone has different views and opinions about what looks good and what doesn't, or what a physical Litecoin should look like.

The responses to this thread and others I have made were somewhat disappointing (in a sense of how many people actually responded with their opinion.) I can't make people give me their opinion, they have to submit it willingly. The fact is that I and others have expressed that they like Zinodaurs/Likeheros designs, and the people that have stated they don't like any of the designs are somewhat of a small minority in comparison to those that do like them. If this assumption is wrong, then I do not feel like it is my fault. More people should have spoken up and expressed their opinions about the designs.

I have already cut into the coin production budget quite a bit by getting these designs made (I was originally going to use my own very simple design,) and for website design/development. As is, I will not be able to make the quantity or variety that I was originally planning on making. Any more funds spent on designing the coins could potentially cause them never to be made, or me abandoning the project because it is too expensive. Just because a few people don't like any of the designs, I am not going to let that hold the project back.

For those of you that don't like the designs, as long as the first batch is a success, I am planning on making different designs and coins in the future. Hopefully these will be ones you like, but I'm afraid you will have to wait for this to come to fruition, as I am going to use one of the designs I've already had made.

Thank you all for your opinions and interest, and I'm sorry I can't accommodate all of your druthers when it comes to the coin design. I don't like how you jumped to the conclusion that if I use these designs then that means I am just doing this for the money and profit, it is simply not true. Nor am I ignoring the clientele or customer base, but honestly the negative feedback has been small compared to the positive feedback. I want to see Litecoin developed and adopted to its fullest possibilities, and this is just a small step in reaching that goal. I think if each person in the community were to do a project for Litecoin as I am, there will be nothing standing in the way of the "end game" goal that I think most of us share for Litecoin.

Cheers,

Ch

Digital industry, stop being silly.

Just because someone is privy to FINcen, and possible consequences of not following US laws, it does not mean they don't believe in freedom. It means they are well educated on the subject.

um.... you are advocating closing down an exchange for a decentralized currency in a different nation .

on a forum called "Bitcointalk.org" while supposedly supporting Bitcoin.

**
I’m just going to leave that there , and let that digest.

I am not advocating anything you idiot, stop putting words in my mouth. I hate FINcen just as much as anybody, but it is a reality and it is here to stay. There is nothing we can do about it short of lobbying for a change in government policy, which if you know anything about American politics, it is doubtful that anything can be done, the US government wants their cut.

Noobs ITT are in denial.

It is clear to me BTC-e is in violation of FINcen. If the US government wants to shut them down, they will.

Again, IMO its not a matter of IF, but WHEN. And no they are not exempt from US laws because of they live in a different country, they still serve american customers and therefore are subject to US laws.

Thanks for the quick run down. It seems like the address thing could of been an honest mistake.

I still haven't decided where/how I'll get my chips on a board, I guess I'm going to wait and see how all the assembly companies develop and await their progress reports/evidence.
