@suchmoon. Agreed. Washington Natives might be a better team name hehehe. They keep the team’s identity and also avoid to be offensive.

In any case, I liked the team name when they were calling themselves the Redskins. However, is that term redskin really offensive, almost similar to calling African American people a n?

Not for me to judge what's offensive to someone else, but I always found the Native American themed team names weird to the point of cringy among other teams named after animals or abstract concepts. Never sure if the idea was to imply that "Indian" is a type of animal or a made up thing.

Keeping with the animal theme, Kansas City Cocks should be the next NFL name change.

Would the Cleveland Indians also need to change their team name?

https://www.mlb.com/news/cleveland-indians-change-name-to-guardians

Another baseball team that might change their team name is the Atlanta Braves if they are forcing teams to remove the native American theme. There are some generic words of objects in the native American culture that are considered racist. It appears using the word wigwam is racist for many people. Martin Scorsese removed the word in The Wolf of Wall Street movie to call one character’s hairstyle. Wigwam’s usage was funny in the book.

The skeptical me thinks that there are some people who want to manipulate language to manipulate our thoughts. Has anyone read 1984?

In any case, we are offtopic. What are your NFL superbowl predictions? I saw an article about halftime propbets hehehehe. I am shaking my head.

2982  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trezor implements Address Ownership Proof Protocol, more regulation less privacy on: February 04, 2022, 03:13:43 AM
I am surprised that wallet want to involve in address ownership proof protocol, is it hard than individual to give their address to the exchange they are using? Noncustodial wallet should remain noncustodial wallet. What I see about this is a marketing strategy for trezor for people in the country to buy their hardware wallet, or may be trends or what is currently going on in the country but trezor should not have done anything.

Trezor’s Address Ownership Proof Protocol was only trying to make address verification easier for Swiss users. I reckon the community on Twitter was only upset over nothing. It is head shaking because much of them are not living in Switzerland and none of their anger has made Switzerland change or remove the travel rule. This anger the community has over Trezor is pointed to the wrong people hehehe.
2983  Bitcoin / Press / [2022-01-27] Bill might give Yellen unilateral power to ban BTC and crypto on: February 04, 2022, 02:30:46 AM
This news was unnoticed, however, it might be important for the community to be informed of this and what the Biden administration is doing. No one can be certain what their real agenda is anymore. Is this really to ban bitcoin? Are they copying China’s own strategy of making the miners and exchanges leave their jurisdictions? I speculate that they are only using bitcoin as the enemy to expand their power because if it is not bitcoin, the enemy might be something else.

America COMPETES Act of 2022 ‘Disastrous’ for Crypto

Jerry Brito, executive director of Coin Center, a D.C.-based think tank focused on the public policy issues facing cryptocurrencies, warned about the “America COMPETES Act of 2022” in a series of tweets Wednesday. The bill was introduced in the House of Representatives on Tuesday.

Noting that the America COMPETES Act of 2022 “will very likely pass in some form,” Brito explained that it contains the “special measures” provision proposed by Connecticut Congressman Jim Himes “that would be disastrous not just for cryptocurrency but for privacy and due process generally.”

Firstly, it would “Add ‘certain transmittal of funds’ to the list of things that can be banned by the Secretary.” Secondly, it would “Eliminate all public notice and comment requirements.” Moreover, it would “Eliminate the 120-day limitation for measures imposed without regulation.”

He warned that “If adopted into law, this provision would be disaster not just for crypto but for privacy and democratic public process related to *all* types of financial transactions,” elaborating:

It empowers the Secretary to prohibit any (or indeed all) cryptocurrency transactions (or any other kind of transaction) without any process, rulemaking, or limitation on the duration of the prohibition.

2985  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for Feb on: February 03, 2022, 02:29:06 AM
Feb is a positive month from what I can see so far.    Its been moving nicely for many days now and doing so in a consistent way seems to indicate a reasonably strong move.   I wont say new highs or a greater price target but it would seem Feb is positive as a fair prospect.
If this trend of gains breaks then perhaps be on guard but its done well so far, perhaps a large regular buyer was taking advantage I dont know the reasons just the chart reflects a continued rise :

I voted I don’t know, however, it appears to be a dead cat bounce after the most latest dump. The market is presently in full control by the market makers who might want to create another liquidity cascade.

Also, I am not quite certain if you considered that bitcoin has been dumping since the beginning of November when you drew your trendlines. It looks like this if you draw a trendline from November to February. This is clearly very bearish.

2986  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: State Senator Introduces Bill to Make Bitcoin Legal Tender in Arizona on: February 03, 2022, 01:38:40 AM
@kryptqnick. There are also people in social media who are beginning to question if it is constitutional to make bitcoin as legal tender. They argue that there are laws that specify only gold and silver can be made legal tender. There is also the Federal Reserve act on 1933 that also included all United States coins and currencies issued by the Federal Reserve as legal tender. I might be mistaken on this, however hehe.
2987  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2022-01-26] Europol report on cryptocurrencies on: February 03, 2022, 12:40:14 AM
I shake my head on why Bitcoin continues to be the most popular coin in those darknet marketplaces. Also, that Ethereum is also being accepted hehe. I reckon it should be the responsibility of the vendors to teach their customers about cryptocoin privacy and security. They should tell everyone to use only Monero.

In any case, this will also protect drug dealers from their careless customers who might not really know or care about privacy.
2988  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: State Senator Introduces Bill to Make Bitcoin Legal Tender in Arizona on: February 02, 2022, 07:03:27 AM
I don't think it even has a chance of passing the Arizona legislature, let alone surviving the court system after it were to get challenged. This senator isn't the only U.S. politician to say they want to legalize Bitcoin, there's been plenty before her -- they know they can't do it, it's just to pander so they present themselves as being outside of the establishment. We've all heard the script before.

Also, if it was passed and the governor of Arizona signed it into law, I reckon it would not make a difference. Arizona also made gold and silver legal tender during 2017, however, are the people there really using gold and silver as money? There might be less than 3% of people in Arizona that own bitcoin.

The skeptical me thinks this might only be for the Senator to get more attention. Midterm elections will be on November hehehe. However, what might be good for bitcoin as legal tender in Arizona is the removal of the capital gains tax.

Arizona Governor Approves Bill HB2014 to Make Gold & Silver Legal Tender

The moment that Arizona precious metals investors have been hoping for finally came this week, as Governor Doug Ducey signed Arizona House Bill 2014 into law. The bill eliminates state capital gains taxes on income “derived from the exchange of one kind of legal tender for another kind of legal tender,” which specifically includes specie, or coins with precious metal content. In other words, gold and silver coins will be treated, at least for Arizona state tax purposes, purely as money and no longer as commodity assets.

Source https://www.sbcgold.com/blog/arizona-governor-approves-bill-hb2014-make-gold-silver-legal-tender/

Seems like you're right. I was under the impression Bitcoin as legal tender would operate as a new currency, but if they can classify Bitcoin as a commodity perhaps they could get around the constitutional barrier. But again, as you alluded to, these sort of attention grabbing headlines are designed to give these state senators some publicity. It doesn't take any effort to introduce a bill, anyone can do it. Then the state senator can go back to his/her constituents and brag about how pro-crypto they are citing the introduction a bill that went no where in the legislature.

However, it should operate something similar to a new currency because if bitcoin as legal tender should be treated more as a medium of exchange like cash, why would there be a capital gains tax for cash? Capital gains tax should be imposed only for speculative investments similar to commodities and stocks.
2989  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: February 02, 2022, 04:27:59 AM
It appears those articles that were published about Tom Brady’s retirement were fake news hehe. However, the skeptical me thinks that there might be something being planned behind this. Does Brady want to leave Tampa Bay and force a trade somewhere with warmer weather for his last season? Is he not from the Bay Area hehehehe?

My speculation, Jimmy Garoppolo will be traded to Tampa Bay, Tom Brady will go to San Francisco. NFL experts, is this out of the question?

A report broke Saturday suggesting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback would retire from the NFL after 22 seasons. That report was refuted by Brady's father, and questioned by members of the Bucs' front office, who said Brady did not speak to them about his decision.

Brady's agent, Don Yee, did not refute the report, but said Brady would be the one to announce his plans.

Source https://sports.yahoo.com/tom-brady-breaks-silence-on-retirement-rumors-im-still-going-through-the-process-003825766.html

That's not happening.  It's more than just moving his family.  It will he a brand new coach, brand new coordinators, plays, players, etc.  Tampa is a perfect situation for him.  If he continues to play it will be in Tampa.  I'm sure every team that doesn't have one of the top 5 qbs on their te right now are hoping TB wants to go to their team,  more than welcome to play a season on the giants.  Smiley

Yeah I do not get all of these conspiracy theories about Brady going somewhere else. Why on earth would you leave warm weather Tampa and the greatest receiving core ever assembled (though no longer having AB may make this debatable now).

That said Tom just announced on his instagram that he is officially retiring. So sad to see the legend go, but what a career he gave us!

This is because conspiracy theories and speculations about where Tom Brady might be going during the off season would have been quite amusing hehehe. There will also be nothing to do for 6 months after the superbowl.

In any case, are there conspiracy theories and speculations on where Aaron Rodgers might be going? It appears the Denver Broncos is always mentioned in news articles last year during off season and this year again.

Perhaps the most important task for new Denver Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett is finding a quarterback for a team that has struggled at the position since Peyton Manning retired after the 2015 season's Super Bowl.

Does Hackett know any good ones? Like maybe a veteran coming off a likely MVP season who has left open the possibility of starting anew and avoiding a potential rebuild with his salary cap-addled current team?

Hackett, of course, is coming from the Green Bay Packers, where he was the offensive coordinator the past three seasons.

It’s why this hire isn’t just a hire, but throws the Broncos into the mix for Aaron Rodgers, or at least speculation about Rodgers.

2990  Other / Archival / Re: FTX - Derivatives Exchange. My Review on: February 02, 2022, 02:51:20 AM
FTX’s valuation has reached $32 billion after the exchange received $400 million in series C funding. I reckon their valuation is almost as big as Coinbase’s valuation which presently might be $38 billion. This is very good for them! FTX has less than 200 employees compared to Coinbase which has more than 1000 employees.

However, did Binance reach their size with only a funding of $15 million from their ICO? CZ’s accomplishments presently continues to be the most impressive.

Cryptocurrency exchange FTX saw its valuation swell to $32 billion in a new funding round announced Monday, highlighting continued appetite for the sector even as investors grow wary about a sharp pullback in crypto prices.

@DaveF. I am afraid that you are mistaken. Market capitalization does not measure the market’s liquidity, only the volume and the health of the orderbooks measure liquidity. Tether has more volume than Bitcoin and Ethereum if you add their volume together. Also, Tether is being used by much of the exchanges in the cryptospace in their orderbooks and also by the market makers. If you add all volume and compare USDT and USD, Tether clearly also has more volume and liquidity.

https://coinmarketcap.com/

I am not quite certain why the hyperdollarization of the cryptospace by Tether remains arguable for many people.

^ Let's just move on about the fighter payments because we can not do something about it Dana White is controlling it and if he wants to just give this small amount to his fighter then that is what is going to do because he owns UFC,

My Early Picks for the UFC Fight Night: Hermansson vs. Strickland, Highlighted in gree are my picks

Jack Hermansson VS Sean Strickland

Sean Strickland has a good record than Hermansson, Strickland only lose to Santiago Ponzinibbio, Kamaru Usman, and Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos but even though he lost to Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos he won 5 consecutive wins but for me, Jack Hermansson has a game with his ground submission that may be caught Strickland by surprise but I think that Sean Strickland has a solid game with his striking, and Jack Hermansson is easily get pressured by those striking and he can have a great defensive takedown Stake odds 2.75 for Hermansson and 1.44 for Strickland, I am still not sure if Jack Hermansson can make a takedown because he can easily be pressured by his opponent striking so I think Sean Strickland can win this,

Hermansson is way more powerful than Strickland whichever it may be. From ground to boxing, he'll face it. Remember that its often the underdog that wins.  Grin

We cannot be quite certain if Jack Hermansson is more powerful or better than Sean Strickland, however, I agree that this might be another storyline in the UFC where someone with more experience is being underestimated again. We have witnessed this in the fights of Ngannou versus Gane, Kattar versus Chikadze and Lewis versus Daukas, Aldo versus Font, Teixeira versus Błachowicz and many others to mention hehehehe. I am for Jack Hermansson with high odds.

@OgNasty. Agreed. There are people behind the SEC and also those people who control the SEC who might not want this now, however, they might want it years from now when they have filled their wallets full of bitcoins already hehe.

In any case, this has not discouraged VanEck from creating other cryptoinvestment products for their clients of institutional investors. VanEck included Tron in the basket, however. Is this a serious investment product hehehe.

Just last week, the firm’s European arm marked the launch of a new Exchange Traded Note (ETN) on the Deutsche Borse Xetra and SIX Swiss Exchange that allows investors to invest in a selected basket of the largest cryptocurrencies with the greatest liquidity. The ETN currently tracks six of the largest crypto assets, including bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana.

As the firm continues its work to eventually make a U.S.-listed spot bitcoin ETF a reality, product innovation in Europe has continued at a torrid pace, with the firm now offering ETNs to European investors that provide exposure to the spot prices of:

Bitcoin
Ethereum
Polkadot
Solana
TRON
Avalanche, and
Polygon

Much of the people who replied appear to think it was only fud without considering the actions of Tether, iFinex and Bitfinex. Some of the others might be in denial.

Also, very many of them cannot accept the reality that Tether’s liquidity is supporting much of market. They also have an argument that if Tether is taken down, the market would pump because USDT holders would buy bitcoin. They did not consider that no one would sell for a taken down USDTcoin. This is very head shaking hehe.

2997  Economy / Speculation / Re: Market sentiments ? on: January 31, 2022, 03:32:05 AM
@btc_angela. I reckon in this type of market where much of the retail investors have no more or less money because they have lost it or they have already withdrawn their profit, this is where market makers have complete control. If they want a liquidity cascade, it will certainly occur. This cascade will also cause marginal sellers to dump and this will decide how low bitcoin’s price will be.

I speculate the marginal sellers of 2022 will be the institutional investors who thought they can hold their bitcoin investments through this next bear market. I predict they will not because their losses in their investments in stocks and bonds will force them to sell first the most unimportant assets in their portfolios. This will be bitcoin and other cryptocoins.

Also, there will be more news similar to this during the bear market.

Paul Krugman Says Bitcoin Resembles Subprime Mortgages.

For those who weren't paying attention during—or were too young to remember—the 2008 financial crisis, subprime mortgages helped kick everything off. In a nutshell, lenders gave complicated loans to people who couldn't afford to pay them over the long term. Most of these mortgages had low initial interest rates that ballooned over time, the rationale being that homeowners could refinance with better terms when they had more equity. After all, home prices only ever went up, right?

But home prices stopped going up and many American homeowners defaulted on their loans. Compounding matters was the fact that Wall Street had turned these subprime mortgages into investment vehicles, and seemingly everyone had exposure to them. The dominos began to fall on the U.S. and global economy.

While Krugman contends that crypto markets aren't large enough to cause a global crisis, he does think the same groups of people targeted by lenders in the leadup to 2008 are being preyed upon today.

2998  Economy / Speculation / Re: Goldman Sachs projection regarding BTC on: January 31, 2022, 02:39:13 AM
News update.

It appears Goldman Sachs is beginning to have a similar prediction as their banking cousin Morgan Stanley on what might occur for this year of 2022. This might be the beginning for those $100k laser eyes bitcoiners to accept reality. The margin sellers might have not yet sold and it will be certainly those margin sellers that decide how low the dump might be during the bear market.

Goldman Sachs Warns Bitcoin Increasingly Vulnerable to Fed Rate Hikes

Global investment bank Goldman Sachs published a research note Thursday detailing bitcoin’s increased vulnerability to the Federal Reserve hiking interest rates.

Zach Pandl, bank’s co-head of foreign exchange strategy, and FX analyst Isabella Rosenberg explained that as mainstream adoption of bitcoin increases, so does the cryptocurrency’s vulnerability to Fed policy. They described:

Over the last two years, as bitcoin has seen wider mainstream adoption, its correlation with macro assets has picked up.

Noting that higher bond yields have affected technology stocks in recent weeks, with the Nasdaq 100 index falling more than 13% for the year, the analysts noted: “Bitcoin and other digital assets have likely suffered from the same forces … These assets will not be immune to macroeconomic forces, including central bank monetary tightening.”

The markets now expect the Fed to hike interest rates five times this year. Goldman Sachs believes that the Fed could raise interest rates at every meeting this year. The post-meeting statement from the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) last week did not provide a specific time for when the increase will come, though indications are that it could happen as soon as the March meeting.

@DooMAD. Did you see my thread in the speculation subforum? There is much information there that would make anyone shake their heads in wonderment why tether, iFinex and Bitfinex are not yet taken down. However, I am not certain why some people were saying it, they told me that everything was only fud but the information is clear that we should be skeptical.

In any case, tether would have found a real use case if Jack Mallers continued his original roadmap for his Stike application. It would have only used bitcoin as the underlying infrastructure for the usage of USDT in El Salvador and hyperdollarize the country without depending on America and without owning a money printer. This would have been an exciting experiment hehe.

The news broke earlier today; Tom Brady is retiring:

And "Rodgers to Tampa Bay" rumors start immediately.

Which is probably about as likely to happen as "Rodgers to Detroit".

Which players would give a more realistic storyline on becoming Tom Brady’s replacement?

Players that might want to be traded to another team or their teams might want to trade them are Jimmy Garoppolo, Russell Wilson, Derek Carr and also Baker Mayfield?

Free agents who are available are Teddy Bridgewater, Tyrod Taylor, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Covid Cam.

It appears Brady’s replacement will be disappointing if it is not Aaron Rodgers hehehehe.
