Wow, the price has been going up since BCX made this announcement.  Talk about falling flat on your face.

I think this service stopped updating on May 24.  Look at the litecoin chain for an example.
304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCEMENT] Litecoin Faucet Open! {litecoinfaucet.com} on: May 25, 2012, 05:28:02 AM

We have made a block worth an extra 2.5 LTC from trans. fees apparently: http://abe.liteco.in/chain/Litecoin/b/138978 Smiley Still don't understand where some of those numbers are coming from though, seems a bit odd lol

You should use the sendmany command or the add recipient button.  I imagine that you are spending freshly spent coins, and that might be the reason for the fees.
305  Economy / Economics / Re: Greece mulls Euro exit on: May 19, 2012, 03:29:27 PM
and be the first of european nations to have sound money.

First?  Remember the pound, also called the pound sterling, as in silver.  The pound USED to be this sound money you speak of.
306  Economy / Speculation / Re: To Roth or not to Roth? on: May 17, 2012, 12:33:16 PM
If you're under 50 I would suggest no Roth.  I look at Argentina and actually think that could happen in the US.  When they run out of money they'll be looking to take it from somewhere.

Don't put all your eggs in one basket.  Gold is cheap now.

And of course you have expenses of running the website.  It's not pure profit it went to cover expenses.  IANAL and I don't live where you do.
309  Economy / Economics / Re: Price stickiness at $5 USD/BTC? on: May 14, 2012, 11:54:56 PM
I don't think that the replacement cycle will make too much of a difference.  Remember Moore's law is not set in stone.

If there is a delay in replacing GPU's today there was the same (or similar) delay 18 months ago.
310  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ł as the litecoin "symbol"? on: May 14, 2012, 11:43:38 PM

It's nice to know that even casascius doesn't view litecoins as a hostile cryptocurrency and is open-minded to the idea of an alt-chain, unlike SC/MC which the entire community has a consensus that it is a scam.

That's because it is.  LTC has the source code available.  That makes a huge difference.

I didn't know about the meatspin part.  That's stuff I want to know.  Thanks.
312  Other / Meta / I'm really annoyed by the Bitcoinica thread in the discussion part of this forum on: May 13, 2012, 09:56:35 PM
I can't believe how many people post silly things in the Emergency announcement part of the discussion forum.  A lot of people think they are more important than they are.  There are even posts that say "+1" and "sub."  I have news for you... no one cares.

There are even people making claims of fraud with no evidence.  I would not want to censor such a claim, but please people; could you start another thread to discuss that there.  If you post there ask yourself one thing:  Is there content?

I don't care about your opinion.  I want to know updates from people associated with Bitcoinica,  I want to know that the hacker has sent an message.  I do not want to know everybody's opinion about other peoples' speculation.  I do not wan to know your feelings at the moment.  Start another thread if you must, but please be respectful towards the people who want facts and make sure that you include facts, or post in another thread.

Thank you,

It's Bitcoin 0.6.0.6 - beta. I didn't install any patches.
I've setup now 0.0001 BTC fee. I didn't expect that lack of fee can make so much trouble Sad

I've had this issue.  I sometimes have to wait until the client catches up before the transaction is broadcast.  It was not the lack of fee that was the hangup.

314  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Wallet just got emptied on: May 11, 2012, 03:17:57 AM
notme beat me to it.  I wrote:

You'll need to do more than re install the client.  Your system must have been compromised somehow.  If you install another client, encrypt your wallet and only use addresses after encrypting.

The fact is that there is a more serious issue.  Somehow a malicious program was run.  If you have a malicious program on the computer than you can't rule out that you have a keylogger which would compromise the encryption.
315  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Wallet just got emptied on: May 11, 2012, 02:46:56 AM
Do you see all the transactions in and there is a transaction out?

Shot in the dark:  Do you use any other "virtual currency?"
316  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crash!!!! on: May 11, 2012, 02:30:19 AM
I'm pretty confident in saying virtually nothing is heading towards bitcoin.

...  and they're increasingly hating UST's.

I'm sure this is true.  This is why there will be QE3 and once QE3 happens, next year I guess, then there will be a long slow rise in gold to over $2000.

Thanks pla, that was really helpful!!!
318  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WTF is this guy up to? on: May 11, 2012, 01:28:15 AM
Just call them centibitoins or move the decimal three spaces and call them millibitcoins .  There's no reason to change anything in the block chain.  In fact I think you can set the client to display your balance in millibitcoins if you want.

For me:  I say,  too soon.

When we switch to mBTC one only needs to change the presentation of the client.

He's not 12.  I thought he was 12.
320  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoins--Dead or Alive? on: May 10, 2012, 03:22:29 AM
I too am running into this type of issue.  I just need the website to verify that funds have been sent.  I want to keep the wallet on a separate machine.  I figure that I will need the server to run a full client to verify payment.

Does anyone else have an answer to these type of questions?
