...and resources harvesting and processing would be nutrition and metabolism, currency the blood circulating, communication the nervous system, then... wouldn't government be the brain?  Shocked

More like a brain cancer, or a parasite. Alters the behavior in unpredictable, and often self-destructive ways.

Not even that - I think hookworms would be more accurate. Start off small, leech a little... eventually grow to the point that they kill the host.

Almost?  Wait a while, you'll see.

Don't care about supporting an organization whose name is a lie in itself and will likely mislead people - with the high probability of this being intentional.

Damn that national science foundation, and their monopoly on science.
Yes! Did you notice how centralized the science has become? NSF this, NSF that.

Well the bitcoin foundation shouldn't be taking tax money.

Do you want to bet that people will be misled by this organization's name?

It may very well be true that people are misled by the name "National Science Foundation," but those people are stupid.

278  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The political structure of Bitcoin on: September 27, 2012, 08:43:15 PM
There is no vote on the block reward.  It's determined before the first hash.

The minors don't "vote" on which transactions to accept.  Each minor chooses to accept a transaction or not.  There is no need to have a majority.
279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are people thinking? on: September 26, 2012, 07:43:47 PM
People are coming up with other ideas all the time.

R u going to stop the progress? Smiley

It's the nature of the humankind - try everything to reach obscure (maybe non-existant) goal.

But they're not good ideas, or even new ideas.
280  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / What are people thinking? on: September 26, 2012, 07:05:05 PM
I don't think people understand the actual brilliance of the problem Satoshi solved.  People are coming up with other ideas all the time.  They don't see the issues with their "new" idea and show complete ignorance of why the idea won't work.

Bitcoin, namecoin, and litecoin, which all use the ledger solution of Satoshi, have had some success.  Other designs don't seem to know why the ledger is needed.

The next issue is the bootstrapping problem.  This is also non-trivial.  There are a lot of people who enjoy wasting time around here.
