301  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [20+PH] Kano CKPool kano.is 0.9% PPLNS US,DE,SG,JP,NL,NYA on: February 16, 2017, 12:17:42 AM
Well if you compare to a PPS pool, they are 100% minus the pool fee.
So, e.g. if they charge a 3% fee, then their payout is 97% PPS

Gotcha. Plus, most do not include transaction fees in the block reward.

Of course it's not an exact PPS value, just the average for "the block count" or "the month", since we're PPLNS not PPS Smiley
So if you've mined the whole month with the same hash rate you should have got very close to that PPS% number for the month.
The actual amount can be above or below it depending on when you mined, your hash rate, the pool hash rate and luck during that.

I think I'm picking up what you're putting down.  I don't exactly understand the role of luck beyond a "measurement" or "evaluation" tool.

It's simply "mean txn%" * "luck%" * 0.991

As a way to try comparing PPLNS with PPS, but not necessarily payments because of the complexities of factors - such as my little S3 went down last night for seven hours.

Thanks for your accessibility and responses. I really like the 5n system - once I figured it out. I think I'll point my S9s here once they arrive from BITMAIN Huh and give PPLNS a go.

This is good. The starter on the truck just crapped out.  Cool

Stupid automobile and social engineering.  That starter would buy part of an S9.

It has been under 95% once - December - in all the monthly data shown there for the last 7.x months.

I had a typo.  I meant to say 99.1%, but your reference to 95% would lead me to think 95% in the CKPool is equal to 100% PPS in other pools because of including fees in the block?

Block by cobramining!  This is your 15th Kano block and our 1st of the day!  Cheesy

And 2 payouts just hit the wallet!  Cheesy

YEAH!!!!

Yes difficulty increases - pretty much every diff change every ~2 weeks (2016 blocks)
That's called 'more miners'

Can miners or pools be subject to attack?
305  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [20+PH] Kano CKPool kano.is 0.9% PPLNS US,DE,SG,JP,NL,NYA on: February 15, 2017, 06:22:45 AM
Think 30 days at a time .  Not daily .

Good to note.  I must say this 70 hours between blocks gets a little ... unpredictable on the short.

Or leave a small pool go to a big one.

It looks like a lot of people have done that since October when you look at PH/s.  It also looks like PPS% was well below 91.9 the last few months.  As a small novice who believes in the idea of CKPool, and decrentralizations, I'd like to include others to join.

It's good to know it takes a longer time span. It does seem to take a little while longer than I would expect to hit a block.

The point is I want to know more about Bitcoin. The difficulty just increasing and the lucky is unstable.

I think difficulty has to do with the number of miners and luck has to do with something on the blockchain.  I'm with you.  Good question.
306  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How do you power an Antminer S9 in USA / Canada with 110v? on: February 14, 2017, 04:41:53 AM
Wow!  It seems like mining has more sunk costs than anticipated.   Shocked I do know an electrician who may take a look.  It almost seems like running 220v is the way to go, even if I do an ATX supply at first.  It would give me room to add an additional S9 before reassessing.  I only have two unused breaker openings.  Oh boy ... this is kind of like it would be like to buy an old VW bus.

I assume you mean using 2x of the ATX supplies to run the 2x miners right?

Yes.

As for the outlet, since each s9 will draw around 1,350w that puts the  combined load the outlet sees @ 2,700w. Fuses/breaker WILL trip in a heartbeat...

Bummer.

In case of modifications, I would suggest a qualified electrician to inspect the existing wiring first.

Listen to him!

@ op  not to be insulting   but your questions indicate you are new at this....

Yes.  I am new. I purchased my first BTC in October, bought an S3 in December and two S9s the end of January.  I am totally new to mining.  I did take electronics in high school - which was a while ago - and remember enough to know I will hire.

Each antminer will need to be on its own circuit.

Even if I do 210/220v?

Ideally, you want the power draw to be as close to the source as possible, simply to have less that can go wrong in the end.... but its not 100% necessary to do that.  Just a smart thing to do.

This is possible in my situation with a partially finished basement.  I think it's possible.  The only problem is the breaker is in the finished part of the basement.

This is why a small conduit and outlet near the main breaker is what people often do.

On the outside?

These guys are giving good advice.

It's much appreciated. Wink

Thanks for all of the input.  I think I will probably go with an ATX and not server PSU with your help.

It looks like people may run a single circuit, even 110v, for their miner(s).  I'm trying to save money as I only have two S9s that I want to turn into a multi-billion dollar business (don't we all  Grin).  I have a limited budget.

Is there anything wrong with plugging two S9s into an existing outlet using a 1600W ATX?  If spending additional money, would you either put the money into the efficiencies or dedicated circuit?  Any chance of blowing the hashboards if not done correctly?

Thanks a BTC!

NOTE: I've added a poll and appreciate any submittals.  I admit, I currently have my S3 plugged into a power strip  Embarrassed
308  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How do you power an Antminer S9 in USA / Canada with 110v? on: February 13, 2017, 06:32:20 PM
Like Phil said, there is Rosewill 1500W for example
Rosewill TOKAMAK 1500W Full-Modular Power Supply (80 PLUS TITANIUM Certified)
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182384

And also there is EVGA SuperNOVA 1600 G2 120-G2-1600-X1 80+ GOLD 1600W
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438033

Thanks! I've had my eye on the EVGA and LEPAs. Any noticeable difference with price paid per month per unit in electricity with higher efficiency PSUs?

::Advice::
Run the antminer on it's own circuit.  I.E.  Not just one Outlet;

Hmmm... I have two S9s with the Feb 20th shipment.

Thanks for all the details in your response. I'll have to read carefully on your experiences.

Yes. That is why it is in most cases to give the job for a professional electrician who knows what he is doing.
I'm glad here in Finland laymen are not allowed to do electrical installations.
You need here a qualified electrician to do the installations.

I agree with safety. Where I live, it's not only my house but also my neighbor's that we concern ourselves with when it comes to fire.  In the countryside you can basically do as you please in Montana. In the City, we are allowed to do certain aspects of wiring on our own, e.g., running cable that will be reviewed, but must it be certified in order to be compliant.

309  Bitcoin / Mining support / How do you power an Antminer S9 in USA / Canada with 110v? on: February 13, 2017, 05:14:48 AM
Huh Huh Huh

I bought one of the BITMAIN psu units and realized it's for 220v and I do not want to hire an electrician.

I've looked at the ATX power supplies like EVGA 1600 series, but have also seen / heard server power supplies work.  Is this true?

What do you think is the best way to power the Antminer S9 using 110v?

¡Mucho gracias!
310  Economy / Speculation / Re: Economist predicts Bitcoin $25,000 on: February 12, 2017, 10:36:32 PM
... the reason he presented is too vague.
He said, bitcoin is good, limited and good as store value, therefore it will go high, no details whatsoever.

That's how economists think.  It's theoretical.  Those ingredients are there and the author referenced tulipomania, as a similar psychological bubble that would push up BTC, but the limited number of BTC makes it different longer term.

It will take many years of great returns to remove the current skepticism on digital money.

That's good news for us acquiring BTC assets because digital currencies have pragmatic advantages!  Internet shopping took a while. Now, you can buy toilet paper in Amazon pantry.   Wink

Sure  but can you tell me just how small the small miner is?

26.5 TH/s

That's very close to what I run. I have been averaging ~0.6 BTC/mo figured over the last 45 days. All that said, it can vary significantly. That's before power cost.

That looks like about .1 higher than Antpool.  Are the "significant" variations outside .1 range?  Ever had a point when you couldn't pay the electric due to these unexpected variants?

Thanks!

I recently learned about the CKPool from a YouTube video, BitCoin Master I believe.

I like the shared fees, not-China and as a hobby miner with an S3 who is waiting for two S9s I think this is a better model than Antpool.  However, I do not understand the payout percentage.  I am sure this has been covered, but can somebody please provide the argument for a small miner using the pool and the level of predictability for payments?

Thanks!  I am happy to be joining the BTC world.

I don't see "t" in the equation.
Nevermind. I see it.

Great Answer! ----^

I don't see "t" in the equation.  This is interesting to consider a larger farm. What is bitmain's power rate?

I'm totally new and this is not a "newbie question" but certainly helps a newbie see potential.
