Thanks kano, flashed the controller and MM firmware and it went with no problems. I was worried that DHCP mods would be overwritten,  but there was an option to save the configuration. Pretty happy that I can play now with the voltage offsets.

I recently learned about the CKPool from a YouTube video, BitCoin Master I believe.

I like the shared fees, not-China and as a hobby miner with an S3 who is waiting for two S9s I think this is a better model than Antpool.  However, I do not understand the payout percentage.  I am sure this has been covered, but can somebody please provide the argument for a small miner using the pool and the level of predictability for payments?

Thanks!  I am happy to be joining the BTC world.

Sure  but can you tell me just how small the small miner is?

100gh
1000gh
2000gh
5000gh    are all small in my book.

I can make a good argument   to mine here if you are 1000gh to 5000gh  or larger.

But if you are tiny  no  don't mine here.

Under 500gh  and you are close to dust.  If dust you won't be paid  for  years ??   or maybe never.

but 2000gh  and you would be paid.

That's very close to what I run. I have been averaging ~0.6 BTC/mo figured over the last 45 days. All that said, it can vary significantly. That's before power cost.

To infinity and beyond...on two 741s and one of only 3...nope, make that 4...full nodes in Hawaii...on <30A. (I have other gear on the Hoth ice planet)

That looks like about .1 higher than Antpool.  Are the "significant" variations outside .1 range?  Ever had a point when you couldn't pay the electric due to these unexpected variants?

Thanks!

In this pool the transaction fees are included in the miner reward minus pool fee of 0.9% of the total value of the block.  The antpool does not include the transaction fees.  That is the difference in the payouts you get here.  As always you can reasonably expect 100% everywhere you can point your miners but most places do not give you those transactions fees.  On top of that, PPS pools charge around 4% so your expected earnings drop to ~96% maximum.  Variance can be high here sometimes because of our small size but it is usually measured in days and not over longer time spans so it has never affected my operating costs (electricity, hosting fees, etc).  I've been at the Kano pool for the past 1354 blocks and I have been able to grow my hash from about 20TH to 120TH along the way.

One other note, we do not get daily payouts and most new folks can't seem to wrap their heads around that issue.  We get paid by the block hit based on this explaination found on the Help/Payouts page:

Quote
The block 'Status' must first reach '+101 Confirms' on the Blocks page, and then is flagged as 'Matured' before the reward is distributed.
The block reward transaction is created manually before the block matures, and sent out automatically a minute after the block matures.

The payout uses a zero fee transaction, so we will confirm it with the next block we find after the transaction is sent out.

We have 3 blocks in the queue waiting to be paid out.  As soon as we hit our next block, we will receive all three payouts.  Grin

Edit: corrected grammar usage... Cheesy

Over last 3 months our average reward (after pool fees) has been 13 BTC per block, and 12.9 BTC since the halving. That's an extra ~4% in the pockets of everyone mining here. It may not seem like much, but over the last 1000 blocks (42.5 weeks) it added 1 full BTC extra in my pocket. Pools like Antpool keep that for themselves. Yes the blocks are more frequent there, but the reward is far less. So, if you are in it for the long term, this is the place to be.

Yeah but it was actually a bit shorter than that - from the last block of November, as you said, but only up to the 745% block on the 16 December.
19 blocks and 1 orphan.

The CDF[Erl] for those 20 blocks
20 Blocks with a mean difficulty of 202.028% - yeah way high.
Gets: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=CDF%5BErlangDistribution%5B20%2C+20%5D%2C++2.02028%5D
= 0.999859 i.e. 1 in 7092 of being that or worse - sooooo very unlikely even for a very short run of only 20 blocks.

I've included the orphan in the block count since it was a valid block found and even sent out to the network first, but due to a complete double failure in the relay network at the same time as a GFW blockage sending it into china, it was orphaned by a block in china.
In that case, being orphaned was a systematic problem, not related to determining the CDF[Erl] when evaluating the probability of the data.

The whole month of December is 42 Blocks with a mean difficulty of 139.638% (again including the above orphan as a block)
since the remainder of the month averaged a mean difficulty of 106% for the last 21 blocks which is well within expectation.

Oh also it was a 19s network block so was not a lot of (good paying) transactions available and the smaller size as I mentioned before 88,888

Once again, I've been very busy so haven't been here in over a week & this morning I saw that almost 70 hours with no block. So I grab a cup-o-Joe and catch up on reading everything here and bingo! block!
Guess I should check in every day so we don't have bad luck again. Sorry,  my fault  Wink

Mine on!

I am using an S3. So far block payouts have ranged from 0.00027 - 0.00031. Payout Frequency runs from 3/day to 1/3 days with the average a bit better than once per day. By comparison, AntPool does a bit better than 1 block/hour, but is 25 times the size in terms of petahashes/hour, so it's probably equivalent, not counting fees. Maybe more consistent in terms of payout. I think they use a one payout/day model. I haven't mined with them.

Block! Does the new block is based on the old block? If we find the block too fast, the next one seems very difficulty.
And if we find the block too difficulty, the new block will be easier?
