Number of zombie nodes is becoming higher. We could use good old CAPTCHA for non-marked nodes, what do u think, guys?
Sounds like a good plan

Not really, if u connect to 30 nodes u have to solve 30 captchas.
Why suggest it then?
Because a solution is badly needed?
3022  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 12, 2013, 06:18:13 PM
I've come up with a proposed change to the mining algorithm
At the time moment the mining algorithm is not a problem. Lack of the transactions (and, subsequently, lack of the fees) is a problem. We should concentrate on a creation of a services for Nxt.
Amen!
3023  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: MasterCoin Buyer/Seller Thread on: December 12, 2013, 01:46:54 PM
Hello guys,

As most of the people here I got really interested by mastercoin features in the recent months, however the google doc "order book" is not an very simple solution to trade mastercoin, and I feel that neither is the buymastercoin website which for many reason seems like the official recommended solution.

Thats why we have started developing an "real" exchange (where people can set up their own prices) for mastercoins / bitcoins which should be ready hopefully in a few days. Most of the development is done and we are just testing the system right now. So until the distributed exchange is there we will be offering a convenient way to trade mastercoin, hopefully helping in the price discovery process and proposing a fairer price than the current easy to use solutions.

Ps : I am not in any way related to the mastercoin fundation or do have any mastercoin. Also note that we are doing this project outside of any official mastercoin bounty.

Thank god someone is finally doing this.
+1

The foundation should have done it in parallel since day 1, at least lobby Cryptsy/Bter etc to add MSC too. The latter is happening now btw...

thanks for you pre-trust and you are right, i am also against vaporware.
i will make an announcement tomorrow, when i have seen the api.
it's up to the community then, to decide if nxt want and need this client.

I, for one, think the community seriously needs a stable, reliable, native (non java) client that is easy to install and operate.

I'm glad your working on it.

i am not working on it now, first i have to see the api and specs.
then, if the community has decided, i could start on 3.january.
it would take me ~4 weeks, to code the client from scratch,
optimized for all nxt advantages.

btw. today i will quickly add some basic graphic/charting to block explorer
to visualize some data. there was more planned but when this is done, i will
stop adding more features due to client, which is far more important i think.
so if there is any must have feature you need, please tell me now.
Still have not tipped you - I wait to take over the giveaway after bybitcoin pass me the coins. You will be awarded what you deserve man!
3026  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 12, 2013, 11:23:32 AM
Now time for bad news.

BCNext is becoming more and more angry coz of stakeholders who don't help Nxt. They don't run their nodes, they don't support bounties, they don't take part in Nxt promotion. He can't force them to do all these things but he can quit this project and join other cryptocoin, no matter if it's called ClonedNxt, and contribute his ideas and code to a competitor of Nxt...

My personal opinion: This guy doesn't care about money nor how much 1 NXT will be worth, I'm 100% sure he will do what he said. I think that Nxt clone will have the same problems and decision to quit Nxt would be one of the worst decisions, but he has his own opinion.
Edit: If stakeholders don't change situation they should sell their coins before price drops below ZERO.

03/Jan/2014 is a very good day for the launch.  Exactly 5 years after the launch of Bitcoin.  The genesis block and software will be published much earlier so the community will have enough time to check and test everything.

Tell me the IP of your server, please.

The problem is BCNext didn't stick to his original plan. He got spooked by eMunie and jumped too early before a sufficient number of people had contributed to the genesis block. The client wasn't ready for launch either. It looks like BCNext regrets the launch date decision now, but complaining about the actions of the people who did take a gamble on NXT seems very immature and counter productive.

eMunie will succeed because its founder has patience enough to launch when he knows his product is ready. With eMunie it's quality and professionalism all the way, and that's why eMunie will be a huge success when it is launched.

Nxt has been pretty successful so far, so I'm not sure what the problem is anyway. Patience man! It's still early days, but you have damaged NXT with your threats and dramatic antics.

I have a much larger stake in NXT than I ever imagined, but that's because BCNext launched nearly 6 weeks early with too few investors, and he needs to take responsibility for the concentrated ownership as it's entirely his fault. I didn't commit to any specific actions when I sent in my BTC back in September - I'm not so much a stakeholder as an investor/gambler. I'm grateful to those users who are actively doing things to support NXT, but was there an agreement we signed? Everyone is following their own self interest.

My intention is to wait until the NXT exchange is finished and then enter the market. I'm not going to be a hoarder.

Well said!

Woohoo.  Welcome to the quark party BTC38!

Ow sh..t party is started but where are buy/sell orders?
Ok, apparently it is just pre-added.  They planned to add it on the 13th, maybe they just need to switch on trade tonight.
A good sign anyway.  Bill Still is still spreading the word too. Not sure if is famous in China though!
We need Kill Bill, Chinese version.

cannot deliver colored coins and looking for an exit.

Hehe, wanna bet for any amount up to 300 BTC on that?

So, do we just keep restarting NXT in order to collect everyones BTC over and over again?
NOW YOU SEE BCNEXT WHAT YOU DID?
You make idiots look smart - I am sure you don't want that!  Wink
3029  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 12, 2013, 10:06:00 AM
I've got a private message from one of the stakeholders who asked to remove my post about bad news. Sorry, guys, BCNext asked me to post this and it will stay there.

I see 2 scenarios there:
- Stakeholders will start doing anything and Nxt will grow
- Stakeholders will sell their coins to those who do something and Nxt will grow

Both scenarios look good to me.

Umm.... free market?

BCNxt is obviously either mental or cannot deliver colored coins and looking for an exit.

The latter is what I suspect is going on.  Booo!
Truth is anything is possible but you forget CfB has looked at the code and actually CC was already ready before he modified the code for the networking.

And I trust CfB - on the other hand you seem to be just an evil troll hehe Cheesy
3030  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 12, 2013, 09:56:10 AM
I think BCNext should understand that he is also responsible in a way.
The client is not the same technology as all the other coins - that makes it a bit more difficult to have it up & running plus I cannot leave more than 8h my client mining without getting stuck and frozen.
Also you almost do 1 update/day - not all people who invested here should be miners, or tech nerds or have the time to follow this close!

And he should focus on the good guys and not the bad - this is ridiculous I am not accepting that kind of behaviour from anyone, I have invested 2-3 whole fucking weeks of my life in this 24/7 (like you CfB did), brought people here and convinced them to invest etc.

No one promised him the project would not have obstacles - if he does another clone he really thinks only with differerent engineering will solve all the problems? Especially of social nature..

Please grow up everyone - let the 5-10% of stakeholders bring this forward so it will become valuable for the rest to dump their coins and get free from their inactivity!

I now you are involved and dont blame you, you are the only one who donated.

We did tons of work and in my case I received 1000 NXT for it, that is 0.007 BTC think I am not alone,

also the people who run the forum like optacil, come from behind etc... have invested lot of time and money,
dont know how many they did receive for it.

Time for others to step up, you already did a great part !
Problem is if BCNext don't show 1000000% commitment how can he expect even 75% commitment from the followers?

He did a social engineering fault by giving early adopters too much power maybe - now he is thinking of solving the mistake with another one!

If he abandons this how can he expect people will take him seriously in his Next project? Tongue

Brilliance is a double edge sword I suppose...

Actually, those top stakeholders are participating Nxt. They are just mining for profit. Too greedy.

If they sold 80% of what they have now, the price will climb and the wealth they own doesn't decrease.

The bad news has effect on the price. Now the price at DGEX jump from 800 to 500.

http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=40

Only 10% r mining blocks.
CfB I am sure you know them - did you try to communicate with them?

sorry guys it may be something as simple as a mad rush overload - just a bit ago I made a post on another fairly large forum that I frequent about NXT.  It may be lots of folks hitting nextcoin from there.

Though unless dgex and nextcoin are ont he same system, it wouldnt explain it.

I guess if we see a mad rush in volume in the next 2 days you'll know who to thank
Hey I made 50 new members today in my FB group because of the giveaway!  Tongue

@klee: thanks bro, yes we should help Nxt get further Smiley

@Pouncer: this was another part of the idea, we will need soon to put aside a funding source to support techies and devs working on Nxt core development.
We have a funny situation here, some +5M stakeholders have nothing more to do than spamming, and people like Jean-Luc and Nextren are contributing a lot and get nothing to keep their motivation alive. It becomes more tragic when nextern offers a part of the donation he receives to supply my giveaway (which I refused and advised him to keep them for his own uses) but not a dime from.... well I don't need enemies.

The +850K I secured already is for supplying the already posted bounties (video-articles-whitepaper). With the 600K neer.gh promised more, we can be aasured that we are able to pay the remained 400K to Cunicula when he gets the paper ready (he already received 600K) and run the giveaway a bit longer.
But we need another pool and more donations to support the core devs progress. neer.gh has promised 4M Nxt first to supply the giveaway and bounties but in a recent pm I asked him to keep those 3M for himself and only donate us 600K more. I did this because it is not fair that only one person pays 4M while they cost $4K atm and all the others just sit back and wait for the dumping moments and keep spamming (yes I mean you bahamapascal)
I can donate for devs too! In fact I am trying to convince ex coworkers (worked 10 years as software dev - I hate coding though Tongue ) to contribute and I will pay them..

3038  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 11, 2013, 11:31:26 PM
Bybitcoin, I have a proposal for a productive use of the bounty funds.

One area I think needs immediate attention and will go a long way towards greater adoption and helping secure the network is realtime technical support. Many users struggle to understand the Nxt concept & to run the Nxt software. Most are in no position to spend hours struggling with it only to start all over again when a new version is released.

CfB is busy with dev and at the same time being inundated with level 1 support questions. I propose setting up a dedicated thread (or even a support ticketing system) where we give a bounty to someone for manning a real time support desk. He/she should be competent in java, server setup, security and all the basic tech stuff that most users struggle with now. The tech support needs to understand basic functionalities and behaviour of Nxt, but need not be in the dev category (these ppl would be more productive actually going the dev).

The idea is that if we have 2/3 ppl on this support desk, we will have 24x7 personalized realtime tech support and users in various time zones don't have to post a problem/bug and wait for 12 hours before CfB responds and then wait for another 12 hours for the next feedback. This team will liaise with the dev team for L2 support and bugs feedback, who will in turn liaise with the invisible BCNxt for L3 support.

Because Nxt is brand new software and brand new concept, such professional tech support will go a long way to making it the Nxt bitcoin - fast!

I'm a big supporter of this idea.  I've been patrolling the Nxt Forum and offering help where I can, as well as trying to keep the wiki up to date.  I'm getting a little bitter about collecting a total of 100 Nxt in donations (current market value: $0.81USD) for all the time and effort I've been putting in (aside from my own [small!] BTC investment) -- especially when I see peer nodes on my network sitting on 19 million, 32 million, and 40 million coins.

I'm HAPPY to help people install, run, trade, etc., but just can't continue to do it for a pittance when I know people are sitting on millions of coins and contributing nothing.  Investing 1 BTC into a fundraiser has worth, but so does the investment of my time.  I will offer my services as a support person, but not for zero return.

Many people are offering help.  What's sad is that there are GAPS that these people are filling that have NOT been asked for, so no central entity is monitoring that effort and rewarding it.  And that's unfortunate, because the kind of help people like me and opticalc and Johnycrypt and drexme are providing is critical to the future of Nxt.

Documentation, communication, and tech support are critical functions.  You can build the best crypto that will ever exist, but if nobody understands it, hears about it, or can use it -- it's dead.

I also struggle with my ability to authoritatively answer questions because I very rarely get to look "under the hood".  I *think* I understand forging and hallmarks and other details, but to beuild that understanding I have to rely on snippets of gold dropped by CfB and others in forum posts.  I wish BCNext had a published design spec (or formal white paper) that was authoritative.
When bybitcoin will pass me the funds for the giveaway thread you will be awarded good mate!

Hey guys, I already gave 31 people 250NXT each in my FB giveaway!
I am also helping them with the installation etc.

The interest is huge, especially from China, India, Israel and some Muslim countries!!

My node works more stable with enabled hallmark protection. Hey, stakeholders, only 10% marked their nodes. R u interested in success of Nxt?
They wait to dump their coins @Cryptsy  Sad

It's rather good than bad. More they dump, more new Nxters we will get.
My issue here is that it seems it is the only thing they care for!
It is a free market, let the price discovery run on it's own  Smiley

But they don't care about Nxt - they don't even care in what you just said, that dumping will help the network. They just want to sell when they can en masse..
No, some of them also care about spamming the thread by saying this is excellent or that is terrific while keeping a Canadian singer DG lady photo at their logo, but not a hand of help or a single dime of donation.. amazing!

Sorry klee for the delay, dude I still have problem with the client, will send you 200K to let you continue the giveaway ASAP.
Just for the public to know, I already received 400K from Pouncer, 400K from Neer.gh and 97K from klee, which I keep to supply the posted bounties (video-article-whitepaper) and the giveaway (which shall run until the end of 2013). Neer.gh promised me to donate 600K more to secure the source for paying the bounty awards.

I have an idea: perhaps we can invite stake-holders to offer to the community their interest to fund some partnership projects. For example let's say I post a proposal in the bounty thread offering 3M Nxt to anyone who can create or bring a poker platform running in Nxt, so he/she and I may become partners and start a business together and share the whole ownership and future profits at let's say X% and Y% profit (it was just an example, I am not really proposing this personally), or a digital good shop. This has a lot of benefits, enlarging Nxt marketplace and popularizing it, distributing the initial investment fund into that economy and finally benefiting the stake-holders more and last longer than with a raw sell-dumping at this or that target price. This will also creates jobs-funds for interested developers to use their muscles into building the blocks.
What do you think?
Great idea too Pouncer!

Personally I would love to have some more stakeholders fund part of this:
