3041  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crypto Market begins to spike to 7,400$ possible breakout until 10,000$ on: July 19, 2018, 04:49:22 PM
It id bullish rise but not will start a bull run like the one in 2017, it can easily go back to $6000 after going up to $10.000 or $12.000 .

if the trend is reversed and the rising starts (not just a jump to $12k in one day but a solid rise that takes longer) then the lows also increase meaning after rising back up to $8k if a drop happens it won't be down to previous low ($5700) it will instead be higher. then when $9k breaks the low will grow higher again and again...

in other words after reaching $12k since it is after the major resistance at $10k it will become nearly impossible to go back down to $6k
3042  Economy / Speculation / Re: Digital Currency Group's Silbert says bitcoin has 'hit the bottom on: July 19, 2018, 04:05:55 PM
And as you can see, the whole market is in the red again.
It's okay, red again as you say?

Red = Bitcoin @ $7,300 that was one of the best red that I've seen again. Color is just an indication but taking a look at the market and it's price makes it more convincing that we really hit the bottom.

Like I said, it's more convincing and believable that we finally hit the bottom but still don't be overwhelmed.

Barry's words are encouraging, love it.

I agree, it certainly is looking like a bottom has been found. We have continually tested $6k and even briefly fell below that. The bottom was about $5700 - $5800. The market violently ate up coins in that range and we rebounded back above $6000 within a day. I'm certain with this recent push above $7000 that the bottom has come and gone. If only I would have boughten some coins at that time...

well in bitcoin the "bottom" is not the minimum price that was reached. the bottom is where the support is strongest. which is at $6000. a strong support can also be broken hence the minimum which is lower but since it is strong it bounces back up super fast which is what happens when we try to artificially push the price lower.
3043  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can the lighting network eliminate most of the cryptocurrencies? on: July 19, 2018, 02:34:35 PM
no it will not and it has nothing to do with what LN is, but it is all about what altcoins are.
there is only two purposes for an altcoin to exist in my experience:
1. a useless hyped up thing to be pumped and dumped so that the creators/pumpers/etc can make profit
2. an alternative way of exploring the blockchain technology and try out new things that are not possible to add or try in bitcoin.

both of these will continue to exist because with or without LN or any other future addition/improvement to bitcoin they still have their own purpose to fulfill.

3. 1 Million Bitcoin Was Pre-Mined By Satoshi Nakamoto (4.75% Bitcoin Max Supply)
nonsense.
there was no pre-mine. there was only mining and it was not Satoshi alone who were mining, there were also others that joined in the early year. and 1 million is a rough guess at best about what Satoshi might have earned from the blocks he mined over a year.

Quote
4. 90% Bitcoin On The Circulation Is Owned By 1% Richest Address
nonsense again.
even if you purely look at rich lists the addresses having large amounts don't even reach 40% of total supply not to mention that majority of those addresses belong to exchanges and services not persons.

14. Since Genesis Block 5 Hard Fork And 2 Block Halving Has Occured
i only know of 1 hard fork in bitcoin what are the other 4? can you list them?
remember that creating a shitcoin like BCash out of bitcoin is not a hard fork for bitcoin it is a fork from bitcoin to create an altcoin.
3045  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC climbs as Congress decides TODAY if crypto is really 'MONEY' on: July 19, 2018, 02:08:56 PM
waiting for this is ok and all that but let us not forget that for a decentralized system such as bitcoin, the approval or disapproval of the government should not matter at all.
Satoshi didn't create bitcoin so that in a couple of years bitcoin users wait to see whether the "congress" gives it green light or not.
3046  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do we really get the whole idea about digital currency (bitcoin) ??? on: July 19, 2018, 02:05:00 PM
i do believe that pure speculators don't last long in the market. they either go away or start learning more about bitcoin and realize the true nature and potential of it as a decentralized currency.
for example these past months that price has been falling the market was cleansed of most of these type of speculators.
3047  Economy / Economics / Re: Government regulation on cryptocurrency, GOOD or BAD? on: July 18, 2018, 04:05:49 PM
it is not possible to say if it is good or bad generally without studying each one of these countries and their regulations on a case by case basis. and also some time has to pass so that we can see how they work.

it can be good in the sense that it can create some sort of confidence among investors that they are investing in a regulated market not an unregulated one. which can in turn increase the adoption of bitcoin and its price.and eventually the regulations wouldn't matter as people learn more about bitcoin and understand what "decentralized" really means!

but it can also be bad since some regulations can be restrictive and bad. for example taking huge taxes, or the fact that exchanges are still risky places even if they are regulated. so we can still see the same downsides.
3048  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is Your ETF Expectation? on: July 18, 2018, 03:37:18 PM
ETF news has been around for a while now. it started back in March with Coinbase. and the peak of it  was in last week of June as CBOE proposal for a new ETF was presented to SEC and SEC was seeking comments on it.. if you take a look at 10 days ago topics on the forum you can see it was filled with topics talking about the big rise that was about to happen back then  but never did.

what i am trying to come down to is that this rise has nothing to do with ETF. maybe now that price has gone up above $7k and the news sites are hyping it again with somewhat of super positive attitude, it can start causing a rise from now on but so far it wasn't.

so if it is accepted we can see a huge jump because it will be surprising and unexpected. but if it is rejected the negative effects shouldn't be that hard.
3049  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Parsing unix timestamp from CLI response with jq on: July 18, 2018, 03:20:26 PM
Not sure if you can use this but if you simply want to convert that to a readable date, you can use:

Code:
date -d @1440604784 +'%d.%m.%Y'

The output would be:

26.08.2015

i think you have to multiply the Unix time by 1000 because Unix time is in Seconds but the "date" takes milliseconds.
also the output should also contain time 08/26/2015 @ 3:59pm
3050  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you remember not so long ago... on: July 18, 2018, 03:04:24 PM
asking such questions on a forum like this is wrong in first place. the answers people get is either trolling or bag holders trying to achieve their own goals, at least that is 90% of the replies if you are lucky.

i always say it is your money, you should be the one making decisions about it and then live with those decisions. learn from the speculations and analysis of others and ignore the trolls and those who spread FUD. visit tradingview.com more and look at the charts. and one of my favorites is to watch the live market in action during times like this, you can learn a lot.
3051  Economy / Economics / Re: the life of the society venezuela depends on crypto on: July 18, 2018, 02:54:59 PM
i don't think this is quite correct to be honest.

what i know about Venezuelans and bitcoin is that it started as hyping up the government-created cryptocurrency called Petro. their government wanted it to become successful so they started hyping it up. in this process they also started teaching people about the technology and unintentionally they taught them about bitcoin and its decentralization.
obviously people became interested in bitcoin (maybe even more interested in bitcoin rather than Petro) so they started buying bitcoin.

i wouldn't say their life depends on it, and i seriously doubt they are using bitcoin to escape hyperinflation. but they certainly are very interested in bitcoin.
3052  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is best wallet for long term bitcoin holding? on: July 18, 2018, 02:34:10 PM
you want something that can be considered cold storage while it is resilient. my favorite is encrypted private key etched on a piece of metal. which is basically an improved version of paper wallet. it is a cold storage (if you create it right, meaning offline on a clean computer). and it is encrypted so no one can just read it and use it. and also it is on a metal (you can use stainless steel which is easy to find and cheap, or Aluminum) so it is resilient to fire, water,...

stay away from web wallets like the suggestion the first reply above gave, that is the dumbest way of long term storage! not to mention that an account on coinbase doesn't give you your private keys so you don't own a wallet you only own an account!
3053  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the best your favorite website of bitcoin news? on: July 18, 2018, 02:25:12 PM
Do you have your favorite website???
in my experience all the crypto related news sites are bad. the difference is that some of them are worse and naughtier than others that they start creating news instead of just reporting it!!!

Quote
where you can learn all about bitcoin like learning bitcoin trading, bitcoin mining,
you don't learn these from a "news site". a news website is a place where they publish news.
of course there is the exception that is Coindesk which has other helpful articles which you can learn from but my favorite source is always going to be the bitcoin wiki and the developers documentation.
3054  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could India push bitcoin to the MOON ? on: July 18, 2018, 02:21:19 PM
I think it's a difficult for Indians push bitcoin to their moon, because lot of people are belong to below of poverty line.one thing more crypto currency is still banned in India.

but there are billions of them and majority of them are already online! it is actually funny how many of them have a computer and access to the internet even with all their poverty.
and cyrptocurrency is not banned in India, stop spreading nonsense when you don't have enough information.
3055  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: For this reason, wouldn't ETH be the future of all crypto? on: July 17, 2018, 03:29:37 PM
there are many good projects under the Ethereum blockchain (ERC-20 tokens)

your whole argument is based on a flawed assumption that is wrong. there are not "good projects" and there can not be any good projects using this platform.
the idea of it is pretty awesome and in theory it looks great but when it comes to the real world there is absolutely no usage for them as we have been proven in years of shitty ICO one after another.

what you call "future" is now! ERC-20 tokens weren't created yesterday. ETH has been around for years and nothing has come out of it apart from pump and dump.

make sure you are watching the full chart and at least 6 months trade history for this specific Coin.. probably

This is the one and only useful tip from your entire post.

sometimes you have to watch the whole chart, sometimes only a small part of it if you want to focus on what is happening at that moment. for example the hourly charts or even with more accuracy at 10 minutes can show you pumps and the build up some of the altcoins have before getting pumped which you can't get without zooming in...

People, who don`t even trade cryptos post tutorials and tips about cryptocurrency or forex trading.

it is not such a terrible thing to share the experience that you have gained from trading with others, even if it is so little.
3057  Economy / Economics / Re: Monetary crisis on: July 17, 2018, 02:36:17 PM
Is your country experiencing a monetary crisis?
What about the basic need to continue living with your family?

as someone who has experienced it let me tell you that what you want to turn your money/fiat into something that can hold its value. in other words invest it in something and you have to make sure to act fast.
in situations like this we see a bubble in many assets because everyone is rushing to exchange their fiat for goods. for instance gold prices can skyrocket in said country. of course there are different assets which require different amount of money. those that require less and can be bought or sold easily like gold coins for instance, will rise faster and end up in bigger bubbles. even turning it into another currency like USD can work. but other bigger assets like real estate grow slower but still big.
3058  Economy / Speculation / Re: Before Complaining, Knowing Factors That Cause Bitcoin Prices Down on: July 17, 2018, 02:07:14 PM
For the past 2 months uncertainty has dominated the market and that affect the investments into cryptocurrencies market.  Bitcoin itself has been receiving very serious attacked from hackers and people are afraid of buying cryptocurrencies from some exchange and that affect price.

i wouldn't say "past 2 months" because when you go back in time you can see that the downtrend was at strong. you may not have believed in it or weren't able to explain the reasons for it but there also wasn't any uncertainty about where it is going to go.
then we hit the bottom and the uncertainty began because people knew $6k was the bottom but weren't so sure about it. finally as it was tested again and remained strong that uncertainty also started to fade away. right now i say there is not much uncertainty in the market.
3059  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 29% of Germans are interested in cryptocurrency as a form of investment on: July 17, 2018, 01:55:15 PM
this is not 29% of the Germans, it is 29% of a very small group of Germans who participated in this silly survey and answered its questions. otherwise if 29% of the population of a country like Germany were already investing in cryptocurrencies then bitcoin price should have already been above $1 million.

and i doubt that 29% is even remotely accurate.  a much larger percentage is interested in cryptocurrencies as a form of investment. specially when you include altcoins.
3060  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dethrone Bitcoin? Nope not now! on: July 17, 2018, 01:47:12 PM
I predict that Ethereum will never compete with bitcoin, now it's very popular, but the price is in that range alone, and never reaches up to at least 35% of the bitcoin price.

the argument here has nothing to do with the price. otherwise there actually are altcoins that are worth more than bitcoin, in fact they worth A LOT more than bitcoin. for instance google 42coin or simply go to coinmarketcap.com and visit the "all coins" section and sort it by price.

it is always about adoption and having a real price. otherwise a pumped up or a fake price isn't competing with bitcoin!
