2521  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So not only bitcoin, Technology Stocks like Facebook, Amazon.. have declined too on: December 16, 2018, 04:35:34 PM
there is no connection here though. try not to read too much into what is most probably just a coincidence. because if you look at the history you can't really find any serious case when bitcoin price moved alongside the stocks market prices.
in fact it is known that bitcoin is always a separate market from all the rest of the markets and that is why it is considered as a good option for diversification by many investors.
2522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC Parity with Gold? on: December 16, 2018, 04:24:09 PM
gold and bitcoin have not much in common to reach any kind of parity. you might as well compare price of thousand satoshis with a course of meal and say they reached parity Cheesy

if this was hundreds of years ago where gold was also being used as a currency then you might have compared it with bitcoin but gold has lost that usage. not to mention that bitcoin is a global currency which is fast. you can't compete with that with gold.
2523  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I have had enough of "bitcoin is dead" FUD *VOTE* on: December 16, 2018, 04:16:33 PM
it is not just the whales, in fact i don't think that many whales would bother with forum spam. the time is best spent manipulating the market for real instead of wasting time here.

those who spam are mostly idiots and what they spread, we may not even call FUD. most of them are just butthurt because they have lost money to making bad decisions and selling when it was too late and the drop was at an end.
2524  Economy / Economics / Re: Arthur Hayes: Who is this guy? Why is he making so much noise in the crypto? on: December 15, 2018, 05:22:45 AM
like anybody else he too is advertising his own business. the more noise he makes the more people will hear him and find out about his business and because of that the will gain more customers and earn a lot more money.

what these people do is not called prediction, what they do is that they look at the ongoing trend and market sentiment and then throw out a number based on that.
for example if we are on the rise and money is coming in they call for $50k. it is not a guess, it is not a speculation nor a prediction and it has nothing to do with knowledge. they just see the trend and go with it. if we are on the drop side they call a low number which is equally worthless.
2525  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Reason why beginner mustn't invest all for ICO on: December 15, 2018, 05:02:33 AM
i wouldn't say this only to newbies but to everyone that they should try and stay away from investing in ICOs. it is not just a very high risk investment anymore it is a losing game which is also damaging the whole cryptocurrency market. ICOs aren't really doing anything, they are not developing the technology, not producing any useful product, not offering any service, .... they are just tokens created to take money from you!
2526  Economy / Speculation / Re: Weiss Ratings reveals this is the best time to invest on: December 15, 2018, 04:44:08 AM
I doubt they mean EOS is a better project than bitcoin itself, the idea of a rating is not to promote a currency or even rank the greatness of it neither. The point is the potential and if you look at the potentials bitcoin needs to make about 6x or so to break the previous all time high whereas EOS requires a lot more and when the market goes up it usually goes up all together and remember last time bitcoin broke its all time high and reached 20 thousand dollars all other coins broke their all time high and reached new highs as well. This rating only shows that if bitcoin can go up than EOS can go up even faster, yes bitcoin could be x10 one day (hopefully) but when that x10 happens EOS could do x50 at the same time, thats why Bitcoin is C and EOS is A, not because eos is nowhere nearly as good as bitcoin.

you are wrong because if you check the criteria the these ratings use they are not using price among them at all! they are basically calling it "technology" under different characteristics which they compare and then rank the coins. for example one thing they consider is the smart contracts and if a coin has that option it automatically gains a higher rank!
(i don't need to go into details of how this is flawed because you are comparing apples and oranges)

besides when it comes to rises, altcoins are known to rise in short term and then get dumped hard. not to mention that their star burns bright but short. meaning they get pumped this time, many will disappear after this and be replaced by new ones that get pumped in their stead.
2527  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin bottom could be around the corner ! interesting chart ! on: December 15, 2018, 04:30:24 AM
It's almost scary how similar the post 2013 bull run correction is compared to the correction we're going through right now.

it is scary in my opinion too but not because the two drops are similar (since they have absolutely no similarity) but only because the chart of these two times looks the same!
which makes wonder about the reason why we ended up seeing the same chart when the situation today has nothing in common with the situation back in 2013.
2528  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin vs. Gold, Fiat and Altcoins (Updated: Traits of Money) on: December 15, 2018, 04:16:00 AM
a bear market, which many are crediting to alt-coins....

i don't think anybody is crediting the bear market to altcoins. there have been times when the massive dumps of altcoins has initiated a drop in bitcoin and placed some pressure on bitcoin price but they are not the whole reason.

Quote
To include Alt-coins along with bitcoin
the image is wrong simply because you are including one column that says "crypto". what the hell is  "crypto"? cryptocurrency or altcoins consists of more than 2000 different projects! and you can't categorize all of them in one column and then compare THAT with bitcoin.
it is like comparing gold with elements instead of comparing gold with platinum, aluminum,...
so for example when you say High for fungability which coin do you have in mind? i can think of hundreds that aren't and dozens that are.
or when you say low for decentralized again i can think of dozens that are decentralized while many aren't.
2529  Economy / Speculation / Re: IS BITCOIN STILL BAE on: December 15, 2018, 04:07:38 AM
what do you all think would happen to BTC come 2019?. are we ever going to still experience a bull run or is this the best time to abandone ship?

how is this a this or that option? if we don't see a bull run it is not equal to abandoning the ship! you abandon something if you think it is sinking or dead. do you think bitcoin is dead?

Quote
do you think bitmex shorts are a good thing for btc health or what?.
you can't stop things like this. it is a free market. the rest of the market needs to be strengthened so that shorts can not cause a problem for it.

Quote
and what do you think would become of ico's future.
ICO is bullshit so it will die eventually. when and how is not clear but we can see that its death spiral has started a couple of months ago.

Quote
after all this decentralize talk do you really think we are ready to rule our self yet?
being decentralized has nothing to do with the price though.... and all you talked about was price here.

Quote
and if you check google trend you would see that activity is dying down slowly
google trends is not an indication of anything. it just shows how many newbies are freshly coming in.
2530  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does bitcoin hold the answer to the many challenges of fiat currency? on: December 15, 2018, 03:57:54 AM
Some of those are not issues for fiat anymore, most fiat is in electronic form so the cost of storing it or moving it are low,

no, fiat is still in physical form (cash) and that has not changed. it just happens to also have an alternative form which is digital but still is backed by that physical form.

i somewhat agree with @magneto. the problems that OP mentioned are the small and secondary things that bitcoin can solve. the main feature of bitcoin is that decentralization that it has and all the benefits that come from it.
2531  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which Countries Are Leading in Bitcoin Adoption? on: December 15, 2018, 03:41:30 AM
i think it is hard to say, there are so many countries that are obviously adopting bitcoin more than others such as Japan that was mentioned and a couple of more like Germany, Switzerland, Australia,... but then we see some big adoption cases in some other countries that you don't think is possible. like the Venezuela or many of the African countries and some other third world countries in the middle east. so it is hard to say which one is in the lead in my opinion.
2532  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Many Countries Government trying to stop bitcoin, what reason ....... on: December 11, 2018, 02:16:06 PM
"Many Countries Government"? where is the reference for that?

as far as i know and the legitimate recourses tell us only a handful of countries have actually tried to stop bitcoin. countries such as Bangladesh comes to mind. otherwise majority of the world has not been trying to "stop bitcoin" at least not publicly and not on big scales. there has been a lot of talk though mostly in the news which always exaggerates everything.
2533  Economy / Speculation / Re: Investors are not to panic - game is on? on: December 11, 2018, 02:07:49 PM
Investors is a brand term, investors could mean anything, people who trade, short, long, margin, hold, etc. Investors have been making the most money off shorting recently, shorts are at All time Highs for a reason. Investors don't just buy at one price and sell at higher.

most of the shorts were performed by the whales who caused the dump in first place. they did it to make a lot of money while making the price crash like this and then bought back over the counter.
then came a lot of newbies who rushed in to short after the drop was over and started losing money like they always do.
2534  Economy / Economics / Re: Who thinks that current situation has to do something with mining? on: December 11, 2018, 05:24:50 AM
i think people are overthinking things about mining these  days only because it was brought up this year and not in the past as much as today. if you look at the charts you can see that the hashrate has been going up and down for as long as bitcoin has been around.
price rises then the hashrate rises with it. then price falls and the hashrate falls after it also. it has been like this with any major rise and fall of price!
there really isn't any more to it than profitability for individual miners.
2535  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Billionaire Investors Still Remain Positive on Long-Term Trend of Crypto on: December 11, 2018, 05:11:25 AM
you shound't remain positive about future of bitcoin because of some arbitrary cycle or because of something that happened in the past!!!

instead you shuold be positive about bitcoin only if you know the potential of bitcoin as a decentralized payment system which works globally and has a limited supply. combine that with the growing adoption and you can see the chance of growing a lot more than this is quite high that justifies investing in it.

otherwise if you just base that on some cycle that happened before then you have to also invest in a lot of shitcoins that are dead today because each of them had pumping cycles where they went up quite high then got dumped down 80%-95% and then went up again. but eventually since there was no real potential they simply died.
2536  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto donations on: December 11, 2018, 05:02:06 AM
the fees and all that are good but one important thing that is overlooked for bitcoin donations is always the transparency of it. for example one of the problems with charities is that people always to know what the charity did with their money. did they actually spend it on what they were supposed to or did they waste it or worse stole it!
with bitcoin you can keep track of where the money has gone and how much and where it was spent.
2537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC market dominance: why it doesn't matter on: December 11, 2018, 04:53:12 AM
I don't care either, because all alts pumped (even shitcoins), last year just because BTC was rising, now that alts again following BTC albeit with down trend, people are mad.
They just follow bitcoin for investing on any other coins so when the bitcoin is not at its best more people lose interest on investing on crypto and few of them moved to shit altcoins into bitcoin that is why the dominance increased but its nothing to do with the future of the crypto currencies.

the only reason "dominance" decreased in first place was because of a big suge of shitcoins in the market that were coming out nonstop each having millions of useless token which then increased the total market cap by a lot.

so obviously when they got dumped that fake market cap vanished and "dominance" went back up again!

2539  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price Manipulation, the impact of Bitcoin SV. on: December 09, 2018, 02:13:11 PM
I wouldn't mind if that split just spells the end for both of them. That whole BCH community is so toxic. Pretending like BCH is Bitcoin and whatnot. Even the BCH developer who recently wrote an article about how BCH devs screwed their blockchain with bad choices in the wake of the split pretended that BSV is Bitcoin. I have a few BCH but I wouldn't mind losing that money and seeing both BCH offshoots shrink to nothing - and seeing that charlatan Ver lose much of his crypto riches would be hilarious, dude is a plague on the crypto space.

this is not the first time someone tried to take over bitcoin. it is just a new way of doing it. in the past there has been numerous attacks against bitcoin and there will be  a lot more and as bitcoin grows the number of take over attempts will only increase.

their split only increases the drama it won't kill either of them. simply because they are not some newbie created shitcoin! they are shitcoins backed by people with money and mining power and that keeps them alive and a nuisance.
2540  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What percentage of bitcoin buyers at the higher prices are still holding? on: December 09, 2018, 01:32:35 PM
a lot of people are investing in bitcoin instead of day trading it.

Trading requires a lot of skills; ability to read charts and make analysis from your research and attempt to predict the future price from a couple of hours to weeks. And it most times forces you to also engage in altcoins when looking for more options.

Investing just requires you understand the foundamentals, invest as much as you can afford to lose and hodl.

that is true but remember it is not all about skills. there are many skilled traders that don't want to trade because of the situation with exchanges. after all you have to trade on exchanges!
to put simply many don't trust them. specially those who have been around to witness or even experience some of the exchange scams in history of bitcoin which are now devastating since they lose large amounts of bitcoin to these scammers. so they prefer to now only buy bitcoin as an investment.
