2241  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Best way to store physical copy of Key weather & tamper proof on: May 08, 2019, 01:51:23 PM
I was considering sealing the paper in epoxy and add a paint layer which you have to scratch.

that does not add any security though because it can easily be scratched!
if you want to protect it even if it was stolen or someone simply saw it, then you have to encrypt it with a strong encryption technique. usually all the paper wallet generators and wallets offer these methods such as BIP38 or AES which you should use instead.
2242  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just because It’s on GitHub. It doesn’t mean it’s safe> on: May 03, 2019, 05:25:08 PM
i have been saying this for ages. these are good methods to assess the "risk" of a project on github:
1. number of starts and number of forks. which shows the popularity of the project and how many people are looking at it. having lower number or nothing at all shows a risky code but having higher although doesn't mean safe but it is a positive sign.
2. number of commits. which shows the activity of the project, a scam project doesn't have that many commits. usually scammers make the malicious code and put it up, that's it!
3. having no source code! GitHub is basically a place where you upload stuff. a lot of these malicious ones use it to only upload their binary or a compressed rar file and not share the code at all.
2243  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wow! Bitcoin Price is Jumping, Here's why I think it jumped today! on: May 03, 2019, 05:01:35 PM
I disagree that those reasons you've said were what caused the pump. Personally, I think it's most probably because of Bitfinex's insolvency. Though I haven't confirmed if the statements I've read are legit, I've read on some Reddit threads that you couldn't withdraw fiat on Bitfinex. So instead, for people to be able to get out of Bitfinex, they have no choice but to use their USD and buy BTC, then withdraw the BTC. Hence the almost $200 price premium on Bitfinex compared to other exchanges.

but that only explains the high price that is available on Bitfinex not the higher price in other exchanges. people who are buying on Bitfinex are obviously doing it to exit, and many of them want their fiat out so they may even transfer that bitcoin to other exchanges and sell there causing a sell pressure and drop. but as we see the rise is going on.

in my opinion it is the continuation of the rise that started a couple of weeks before the Bitfinex drama even began.
2244  Economy / Speculation / Re: Another uptrend has shaped up trying to break $5600 again on: May 03, 2019, 04:35:02 PM
there seems to still be some sort of fear in the market that is preventing that FOMO from happening and pushing the price up above the $6k. probably it is (at least partly) because of the recent bitfinex stuff with their Tether issues but also it might be due to the large scale FUD that has been circulating over the past week with lots of "fake speculation" talking about drops just because they had placed a bunch of shorts which they wanted to fill Cheesy
2245  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi Website Triggers Countdown to ‘Live Unveiling’ of Bitcoin Creator on: May 03, 2019, 04:07:19 PM
this market is filled with lazy newbies who want to make money but they don't have any ideas for monetization. so what happens in 90% of the times is that they copy other scammers like themselves.
when BCash was created and they saw how profitable it was to copy bitcoin and use the name, a wave of similar shitcoins started coming out. we saw more than 100 bitcoin forks!
when CW scammed and gained popularity and also made some money by stealing Satoshi's identity everyone else started using the same tactics. this is one of many to come.
2246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin be considered a Religion? on: May 03, 2019, 03:51:57 PM
According to Google, the term "Religion" means the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods. This becomes true especially when many Bitcoin followers believe that Satoshi is some sort of "god". Hence, if Satoshi would reveal himself to the public, many people will follow him.

there certainly are people who think Satoshi is a know-it-all and his design was flawless but i don't think the number of these "fnatics" are that many, enough to make "bitcoin" into a religion.
this is like the same old question of "is bitcoin a criminal money" that is asked by some people who saw something when they were in the darknet and thought that is all bitcoin is. but these cases don't define bitcoin!
there are also idiots who think earth is flat but that doesn't change the round shape of earth Tongue
2247  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop chasing the "next" bitcoin on: May 03, 2019, 03:41:40 PM
most of them aren't really at fault. they are just poor newcomers who entered a big market and were suddenly bombarded by a huge wave of advertisement which were promising them riches beyond their wildest dreams so they ended up buying a ton of useless tokens which have been continuously losing value
2248  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: To hodl is not to neglect on: May 02, 2019, 03:53:01 PM
being a bad advice doesn't depend on volatility of the market, it mostly depends on the coin they are suggesting  others to (bag) hold. for example over the past year there has been a trend that everyone was encouraging newbies to bag hold the ICO tokens they had bought and kept promising them eventual big returns. obviously 80% of them are already at zero as these tokens keep dying on them.

when you are telling someone to hold you are suggesting them to do a long term investment. and to do that successfully you first need to choose wisely. choosing any altcoin will never end well for anyone.
2249  Economy / Exchanges / Re: scam exchange on: May 02, 2019, 03:42:53 PM
having fake volume doesn't make the exchanges scam, not exactly anyways. because if it did then all of the exchanges would have been considered scmmers. what it does is that it makes them dishonest and although it is bad but still not as bad.

the reason for all that is competition so that they don't seem dead in comparison to other exchanges that do fake volume and give unrealistic numbers.
this is different from actual scam exchanges where the place is made purely to empty the pockets of ttheir victims.
2250  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto thefts, fraud hit $1.2 billion in Q1 report on: May 02, 2019, 03:33:42 PM
it is interesting to know that although the number here looks huge but it is a total of a much smaller number of theft cases. in other words the sum is big not the count. for example every time you see an exchange is hacked they lost millions of dollars but when a user is hacked he loses $500, $1000 and smaller amounts. and the number of exchange hacks is big enough to overshadow the user losses.
that makes you think about where the problem comes from...
2251  Economy / Economics / Re: Mining vs Masternodes - How do they compare? on: April 28, 2019, 01:16:02 PM
In your opinion, whales who control most masternodes can control the supply or float? Why would Whales really hold a masternode unless they believe in it tho?
[..snip..]

i didn't say whales control most masternodes, i said whales will end up owning a large amount of that coin which then will give them a huge profit for free.
and don't forget that a whale only believes in profit otherwise they wouldn't have become a whale in first place. so what happens is that they come in, make a huge profit, then dump and go out.

and it is not just about whales and control. it is about basic economics and the fact that this type of distributing "free money" is not a good design.
i know a country that banks are ruining the economy by giving high profits (up to 25%!) which is the same as staking rewards. guess what the inflation rate is? hit: it is above 100%
2252  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin - Will We Get a Strong Trend Reversal Signal? on: April 28, 2019, 12:59:08 PM
And for now we have not been able to ascertain the actual market trends because the movement is still in a normal state with a slight increase and also a slight decline and not too hasty with it that we still need analysis or by waiting for an extraordinary movement, investment must continue by utilizing very cheap prices and on the verge of being good for the future, don't worry about setbacks and I also don't see a deep decline, stay calm to enjoy each process.

if it was so easy to figure out the market trends in their early stages, specially when we are talking about a trend reversal, then everyone would have been successful in trading and were making millions per day!
the problem is if you wait for that "strong" trend reversal signal that leaves no doubt that we are on the rise, then by that time it is already too late to make an entry.
for example take a look at what happened in the past couple of months. we saw the reversal after failing to break below $3k and have been "reversing" and rising ever since but those who waited have already missed on nearly 70% rise.
2253  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will Hit 6000$ Before april last date ? on: April 28, 2019, 12:48:24 PM
although a big FOMO rise like this is easily possible with bitcoin (specially at this point when  the market is very eager and ready for the rise with hundreds of traders waiting to FOMO buy) i don't think it will be possible before April ends. there is just too much negativity being spread by those who were left behind by the latest rises who are now desperately trying to delay the inevtiable rise.
2254  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin stops bank runs - own your keys! on: April 28, 2019, 12:37:24 PM
A scandal that huge and we only see a 5% drop. This just shows that bitcoin has become much stronger, stable and the holder more diversified. A few years ago, if the same scandal happens, we will see a massive dump. It is different now. There is no bank run because there is no bank. Except for those who still trust centralized exchanges, most hold their bitcoin in their own wallets.

true but also there is one major reasons that prevented the drop.
* this is the most important reason in my opinion. and that is the fact that drama or FUD like this can only cause a big drop during the bear market or basically whenever the market is leaning towards a downtrend. nowadays we are seeing a trend change and market is leaning more towards an uptrend so the FUD is against the market direction hence is ineffective.
2255  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The ugly side of Bitcoin on: April 28, 2019, 12:23:49 PM
unless you have any new solutions to fix a problem that you are pointing out, your topic is low quality because it is the repetition of something that was mentioned a hundred times. and there is no point in repetition unless you have something new to add, which should be the "solution"!
2256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Indian Govt thinks Bitcoin is a ponzi scheme on: April 28, 2019, 12:19:53 PM
i wouldn't really take this seriously since it is a clickbait website and it is calling it "Indian lawmakers" to be as vague as possible. probably some dude that doesn't even have any government ties made some statement and these sites are reporting it as an official statement.

in any case things in India has been strange as it is. half the time they are negative about bitcoin while the other half they seem undecided and sometimes even positive. and all the while the people are still buying bitcoin.
2257  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Golden Cross on: April 23, 2019, 02:41:47 PM
But i think lot of money is coming from LTC BCH recent pumps and BSV drama

based on what i have seen, majority of traders trade altcoins with bitcoin not with fiat. which means when they dump that altcoin they are dumping it in its bitcoin market (in this case for example they sell it in BSV/BTC market) which means "money "is not coming in bitcoin, people are just getting their bitcoins back after a loss.
even if they sell their altcoins for profit they are still selling it for bitcoin not fiat and their profit will be in bitcoin which either goes to  their cold storage or goes into the next coin getting pumped.
2258  Economy / Economics / Re: Craig Wright sues a podcaster for saying Craight Wright is not Satoshi Nakamoto on: April 23, 2019, 02:25:32 PM
nowadays we keep reading how Craig Wright is desperately thrashing in the waters while being drowned and keeps on suing different people because they make the most obvious statement: "Craig Wright is not Satoshi Nakamoto and instead he is a scammer".
but i am mostly wondering what the results of these legal actions are? i mean are the courts finding these people making such obvious statements guilty?!!!

and most importantly why has nobody yet sued Craig Wright for stealing Satoshi Nakamoto's identity yet?
2259  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is heading back to $6k on: April 23, 2019, 01:55:22 PM
Wow, the bitcoin is very bullish today.
It appears the bitcoin price is heading back to $6k.
although i already have a topic about the fast rise (aka FOMO) and i believed it will be like that but this doesn't seem to be a fast one to me. it seems mostly like the 2015 rise with a slow and steady rise without any back tracks.
so $6k will happen but it will take a longer time like a week instead of in a couple of hours.

Quote
The entire cryptocurrency market adds about $12 billion within the last 48 hours.
that is only because bitcoin price went up and although all the altcoins got dumped today, they still are being reported on coinmarketcap against USD which doesn't make sense for 80% of them. as a result that unimaginable supply multiplied by the small rise creates a fake total market cap.

Quote
    * BTC Dominance = 53.02% - Up(0.4%)
that means absolutely nothing Grin
2260  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Golden Cross on: April 23, 2019, 01:40:35 PM
So it is something to celebrate and be careful because many shorts can appear on 5.8 k to 6.k

actually it is something to cry over not celebrate, as currently a lot of traders are crying. because this only tells us that the days of cheap bitcoins at $3k level (lowest price that we will ever see) are over for sure and from now on we all have to pay higher amount of fiat to buy the same amount of bitcoin.
