3101  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: is 10% a week posible on: July 10, 2018, 03:01:08 PM
first of all it depends on how much BTC we are talking about here. if it is 10% of 1000BTC then no it is not possible. but if it is a small amount then earning it is easier.

Should I invest in small cap coins, coins with high volume. Invest in one coin a week or to different trades each day.
What would you recommend and is it achievable long term

market cap doesn't matter at all.
the only thing you should be looking at is the volume and if it is decent. it doesn't have to be a high volume, just high enough to show the market is not dead and high enough for you to be able to make profit from it.
also you should be investing in coins that have a rise coming to them. conversely coins that are about to be pumped. and that is the hard part.
3102  Economy / Economics / Re: What are your plans for the next 5 years in Finance? on: July 10, 2018, 02:48:31 PM
doing 3 main things:
1. earning money
this is from my day-job, also you can say the profit i make from my investments. but also from other things i do, like trading, designing and some other micro jobs that i have been doing for 10 years now as a secondary source of income.

2. investing that money
obviously the money i earn is not enough ever Cheesy
so i invest it to increase it by making profit. the investment is a small amount in stock market, sometimes i trade gold, and i am starting to enter real estate too. and of course my other big investment is in bitcoin which i then use to trade altcoins to increase my bitcoins even more.

3. setting up some passive income sources.
this needs more work and i need more ideas but this one is an important one for me since it is passive and i want it to be risk-free (at least nearly).
3103  Economy / Economics / Re: stupidity is so close to poverty on: July 10, 2018, 02:30:52 PM
if you are stupid then you will also be poor even if you start out super rich. but if you are poor it doesn't mean you are stupid. the other way doesn't work because the first reply mentioned there are more reasons for being poor than just being stupid. there are a lot of unpredictable things in life that can lead to bankruptcy for instance.

in any case we are seeing cases of "being stupid leading to being poor" every day in the altcoin market as newbies stupidly give their money to pumpers and ICO scammers and lose it just like that!
3104  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Bitcoin Prices Down? on: July 10, 2018, 02:13:42 PM
these exchange hacks are the best things that can happen to us. it is teaching the newcomers not to trust exchanges, more like reminding everyone. and also it is cleaning the market from the weak hands and on top of all that it is bursting the altcoin bubbles since each time the altcoins get dumped hard.

i also agree that this fall is an altcoin-induced fall. and you can clearly see it on the rate that altcoins (more importantly ETH that was hacked) is falling compared to the rate and size that bitcoin has been during the same time frame.
3105  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Hype Has Barely Even Begun on: July 10, 2018, 02:00:04 PM
news of banks and financial institutions looking incorporate blockchain technology and invest in cryptocurrencies;

this has hardly anything to do with bitcoin and its hype though!
the banks and financial institutions are interested in the technology and want to use it for their own benefit which usually translates into them creating their own altcoin which will most probably be closed source and surely centralized.

as for their investment, no bank is ever going to invest in cryptocurrenices. they may end up adopting bitcoin because it is a currency and they are working with currencies. but that would be about it and it may not happen for at least another 10 years.
3106  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crypto Markets Seeing Red, Total Market Cap Down Almost $15 Bln on: July 10, 2018, 01:45:20 PM
well that is what happens when a big shitcoin with a huge supply like ETH gets dumped. today Bancore was hacked and they stole $12 million worth of ETH according to the news.(some sources say $23 million) and as they started dumping it and a lot of its tokens the market cap started declining and pulled the price of all the market down with it.

a 12% dump of ETH is equal to nearly $600 million market cap going up in smokes. that is how fake market capitalization is.
3107  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Guys please no more talk of Bitcoin better than gold on: July 10, 2018, 01:19:55 PM
a certain level of comparison will always happen. it has always been with us from day one, so it is not new. people have been on the "parity watch" for a long time.
so logically some people would take it so far as talking about "replacing" gold, specially with how the media sometimes refers to bitcoin as "digital gold".
3108  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you actually use Bitcoin? on: July 10, 2018, 01:11:31 PM
your conclusion here is based on what you hear from others or read online. and the source of that is from the most vocal group which is the investors who care mainly about the price so you think people aren't using bitcoin.

the fact is there are a lot of people using bitcoin. you can read about the stats that sometimes the big businesses release the best one is from Bitpay which is a payment processor. if what you said was true then their stats should have been a lot lower which was $110M+ in bitcoin payments per month in 2017 https://blog.bitpay.com/bitpay-growth-2017/
3109  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do older people like investing in Gold/Silver? on: July 09, 2018, 01:11:00 PM
i wouldn't say people "like" investing in precious metals. it is more like they are "accustomed to" investing in them because they have been around for thousands of years and for the most part of it they all had some value. so whenever people are looking for an investment they first thing of these metals.
additionally it is thanks to the fact that these markets are global and big and also regulated so you can easily go in and out and trade them anywhere.
on top of all that these specific metals (gold and silver) have more than just one use as investment. you can use them as jewelry. for example you buy a gold necklace, it is both for using and as a good store of value. if someday you needed money you can easily sell it and get the money with its profit.
3110  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin volume is still rising ? on: July 09, 2018, 12:50:37 PM
Bitcoin volume is still rising ?
Do you think Bitcoin still on the rise in terms of market capitalization ?

i think you are confused about what "market capitalization" means. it is a meaningless number that is acquired by multiplying supply and price. it has nothing to do with the volume. for example every day about 1800BTC is being mined so market  cap of bitcoin is increased by 1800 * price which is about $12 million increase in market cap. and that is exactly why it is meaningless.
things are alright in bitcoin, when you go to altcoins things get out of hand. you see a coin that in one day releases 100 billion new coins and increases its market cap by that much!
3111  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Price correlation on: July 09, 2018, 11:20:31 AM
there is no direct correlation really but i have read a theory once which i think is the closest thing to possibly what happens:
bitcoin price goes up, BTC-ETH is worth for example 0.071BTC that means the value of ETH is increasing in USD so you have the illusion that its price is rising.
additionally that rise creates an arbitrage opportunity (a 3 way arbitrage one) BTC/ETH ETH/USD USD/BTC. and this method of arbitrage brings the price up in all markets to reach a balance: decreases the higher one and increases the lower one to reach the balance. that is why ETH goes from 0.071 to 0.0716 for example while its USD value (as i said above) is rising in a fake manner so it reaches $486 just because bitcoin went up.
3112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Big news for bitcoin and crypto currency on: July 09, 2018, 11:05:45 AM
this can only be a big news for bitcoin if this new exchange is created as a stand alone platform and also allows investors from all around the world. if they limit their customer to their own country or a couple of other countries then it won't be that big in my opinion, it would be some new centralized cryptocurrency exchange in one country which is good but not "big".
3113  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin or Property? What might be the best investment? on: July 09, 2018, 10:55:45 AM
that is a tough choice to be honest. if you don't have the money to buy a house then obviously you are left with smaller investments such as bitcoin and gold. but if you have the money for it then it is  not such a bad idea to buy a house even if it is a small one. there is good potential in that. of course like any other investment you do need to become familiar with its market, you can't just jump in and make profit randomly. that would be a gamble.
3114  Economy / Economics / Re: Uganda Bans VPNs To Prevent Users From Dodging Its Absurd New Social Media Tax on: July 07, 2018, 03:59:41 PM
I really don't understand why people are turning to VPNs.
If that picture is right, the monthly cost for access is 6000 Ushs , that's 1.5$, there is no way you're getting a real VPN for that money, more like an add invested piece of ...

this is indeed a pretty weird amount of tax their government is asking for. i mean it is too low you should ask why bother?!
but the reason people are moving towards VPNs may not just be the price they have to pay but instead it may be to protect their privacy instead. i mean nobody wants the government snooping around in their private affairs even if they aren't doing anything!

and VPNs aren't really that expensive either. a good one which also has SSH is worth $8.2 per month and if you buy a yearly subscription of it, price will fall to $5.2 or 0.0096BTC for a whole year... (good thing about having SSH is that packet sniffing won't work so they can't block it Wink)
3115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will be more valuable when the altcoin bubble bursts on: July 07, 2018, 03:09:58 PM
Altcoins won't disappear until trading Bitcoin yields higher profit margins than trading altcoins. Pump and dump schemes are synonymous with altcoin trading. It's easier to earn more trading volatile altcoins than stale Bitcoin. I think the altcoin bubble isn't going to burst any time soon.

so you admit that altcoins exist only for trading aka speculation and they are pump and dumps. so you also have to admit that pump and dumps can not last forever. there is an expiration date for every single one of them. when some pump and dump altcoin is overused they will put it aside and replace it with a new one, a fresh not-yet-pumped coin that can be pumped big time.
so the altcoin bubble should pop sooner or later.

looking back that has been the case. every now and then we have such a huge altcoin pump that they all go into bubbles then it pops and disturbs the whole market.
i said this once before, i say it again. a big part of this bitcoin drop has been because of all the altcoin dumps.
3116  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin Restore it's Place in the Market? on: July 07, 2018, 02:55:20 PM
bitcoin has never lost its place on the market to want to restore it now! it is the same place it has always been... on top as the same scarce decentralized currency that everyone wants to have more of.

as for its "glory", nothing has changed. it is just your views that have changed because price is not constantly rising now. so you are surprised now to wake up each morning and see price is still $6k instead of being $7k, $8k, ... every day!
3117  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHAT HAPPENS WHEN NO ONE SELLS BUT HODL? on: July 07, 2018, 02:36:47 PM
first of all that will never happen because market is not just 3 person that you want to convince not to sell or hold. it is millions of people each doing a different thing so there will always be some people who are selling, some who are buying and some who are holding to sell a long time in the future.

also HODL doesn't apply to everything! you hold something that is worth holding meaning bitcoin. it is obvious that when you hold any shit....coin that you can get your hands on you will become a victim!
3118  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Zebpay Disables Rupee transactions on: July 07, 2018, 02:06:38 PM
I think they have announced this way ahead and given enough time to users to withdraw any rupees they have in platform before they will stop supporting it
that happened a while ago (if i am not mistaken it was either 2 weeks or 3 weeks ago). they gave the warning and let everyone withdraw their fiat if they wanted.

Quote
because only trading crypto for fiat is illegal in India right now.
do you have any prove for this or are you making a random guess based on FUD topics you read in here?
3119  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Where do you monitor live chart?? on: July 06, 2018, 03:42:20 PM
use the same exchange that you are trading on, everything else are third parties that are showing you the same exact thing in a different interface using that exchange API services. for example bitcoinwisdom that others introduced and sometimes there may be delays (haven't seen on this site yet) or bugs that has happened in the past.
3120  Economy / Economics / Re: India choked its cryptocurrency ecosystem to near-death on: July 06, 2018, 03:34:13 PM
when reading this news you have to understand one thing: Indian government has NOT banned bitcoin or trading of it or any other cryptocurrency.
what has happened is that an Indian bank, RBI (Reserve Bank of India) is banning accounts of exchanges including Zebpay and that is causing drama on the internet with articles like this which OP is posting: https://qz.com/1321076/bitcoin-ban-how-rbi-choked-indias-cryptocurrency-ecosystem/

there is a lot of petitions and pressure on the Indian government at the moment to resolve this issue and meanwhile people are happily trading in a p2p manner.
