3141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PoS/MN] Gentarium (GTM) | Masternode hosting platform | Shared MN service on: September 04, 2019, 11:31:04 PM
I just read in the GTM discord that the team have been working on a new platform and that they are almost ready to launch very soon, they are just doing some final touch ups with texts and translation. I'm interested to see what it will be as we all know that the team need something to move this project forward into the future.
Great news for Gentarium enthusiasts, but at least I don't like the kind of silence in the ann thread. For old investors, Gentarium enthusiasts, it is likely not a matter, but silence and inactivity in ann thread will hinder new investors because they don't see reason to invest in a project that has been inactive in ANN thread for too long. Just my two cents. I don't think guests in the thread with first impression about it, will join Discord group to find out more.
In Gentarium, I believe that they can become huge again.
3142  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Halving Countdown and Other Data on: September 04, 2019, 02:02:29 PM
Hashrates relate to difficulty, and difficutly in turn relates to mining profits and price of bitcoin. When difficulty hits peaks, price will fall, then weak miners capitulate. After weeks or months, when there are only strong miners stay, price will rise again, then difficulty rises too. That cycle repeates over and over again in history of bitcoin. For all reasons above, I disagreed with your statement.
3143  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Halving Countdown and Other Data on: September 04, 2019, 06:36:18 AM
It's getting exciting to those that have endured all of the painful days of the bearish market and can still hold bitcoin on their stash. Numbers don't lie and to those who have witnessed all the past 3 halving can figure it out that the same effect would come after the next halving next year or someone who are relying to the charts.
History can repeates itself, and we all can patiently wait for it with next halving next year to enjoy coming bull run of Bitcoin back to its all time high first, then taking off to the Moon in late of 2020 or early four months of 2021.
Quote
But it wouldn't be on instant. The halving for Litecoin didn't do that much but I look forward for bitcoin's halving as it shouldn't be compared to alts because it's greater and incomparable.
Halving effects, if occur, can only occur and maintain over months for Bitcoin. For altcoins, if halving effect occur, it will not last for too long, because basically price of altcoins in general seriously affected by bitcoin price. Hence, when halving effects coole down after weeks, and bitcoin forces altcoins falling, altcoins will fall despite of how powerful halving effects are. That is exactly what we saw with Litecoin last 8 months.
3144  Other / Meta / Re: A wave of bans: 400 yesterday, 300 the day before. What changed? on: September 04, 2019, 04:48:16 AM
@loyce, it has been a while, can you give me list of ban again after July, 21st until now?
Sure!
There's probably a small overlap with the last data dump. Assuming modlog stores data for 7 days, my list should be complete.
I've removed Newbies and Brand new accounts (those are missing in the numbering). Total: 1939 Autobans.
Among 1939 Autobans between July, 21st and September, 9th, there are 76% of them are Brandnew/ Newbie accounts.
Around 1.2% are Hero Members and Legendary members while Sr. members and Full members account for about 6.4%.

Legendary: 6 (0.3%)
Hero Member: 17 (0.9%)
Sr. Member: 40 (2.1%)
Full Member: 82 (4.3%)
Member: 182 (9.4%)
Jr. Member: 108 (5.6%)
Copper Member: 30 (1.5%)
Brandnew/ Newbie: 1474 (76%)

Total Autobans: 1939

This is helpful to support vocabulary and grammartical errors while non-native English speakers type their posts. Whenever a person fall in love with grammarly.com, it is hard to stop using it, that is very convenient.
3146  Other / Meta / Re: Reporting Effectively Infographic on: September 04, 2019, 03:30:28 AM
Agreed.  And holy crap, OP has 66 post and 191 merits--that's quite a ratio there.
OP is a genius in infographic making. He earned most of those 191 merits from three infographics, this one and those ones:
History Of Bitcoin & Bitcointalk Infographic [Long Gif Inside]
Member infographics [Taking Requests]
Correct me if I am wrong, but it is my first time I see a user whom can earn significant amount of merits. Once again, as we see, creative ideas and high quality works developed from those ideas can make different things.
3147  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Draft page - Pros & Cons on: September 03, 2019, 07:00:19 PM
When there is limited time/resources to implement new features, a work around is probably the solution you are going to be offered. I don't believe the administration has a lot of people working on coding new features.
Admin, theymos, is the only person who codes the forum, this one, and Epochtalk (new forum software). As theymos said, he is more familiar with the forum, after years, and he has not yet really wanted to move our forum to Epochtalk due to some risks when making data transitions.
None of these ideas are new to me. Even if I don't respond to suggestions, I do read them, and they float around in my mind going forward. If it's not already done, then there's some reason why. A big possible reason is that I'm the only person who does development on the current code, and my time is limited. Another big reason is that this is a huge forum with complex dynamics, and even small policy changes can have big effects which need to be thought through very carefully.
I started the topic because I saw lots of people think that they have to click on Preview button to save their posts in Draft page. Then, I discovered theymos announcement about Draft page long time ago, that clearly states that users don't have to do this, clicking on Preview button is just one of triggers for Draft page.
3148  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I earn $1 worth of bitcoin everyday? Please help! on: September 03, 2019, 06:46:03 PM
Faucets are time-wasting nowadays, and I don't recommend you to waste your time to hunt for faucets. It was a good way to get bitcoin, but very long time in the past.

There are some ways in the forum to get money, if you are good users and want to improve your knowledge, and skills over time. If you are lack all of them, you won't have chance to get extra money here. Thinking of money instantly after joining here will hinder your progress in the forum, and it is not good for your long adventure here.

If you want to be here, as a good user, you should read forum rules: Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ
Newbies - Read before posting
Writing a welcome message
Don't copy and paste others' works, if you don't want your account get permanent ban
[TIPS] to avoid plagiarism

Without knowledge on forum rules and related things, without knowledge on blockchain, you will nearly impossible to earn a single merit, that will help you to become a Junior Member. That rank is a lowest one that can give you rights to wear signature and join promotions through signature campaigns.

3149  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Halving Countdown and Other Data on: September 03, 2019, 06:23:36 PM
There is a price chart, with line breaks on halving days. There is interesting fact that on halving days, bitcoin price does usually not surpass it previous all time highs, but I do hope bitcoin will change its history with halving in 2020 because it seems bitcoin has stronger communities globally and bigger demands as well as blockchain and crypto currencies have not yet strange terms for people.
3150  Economy / Gambling / Re: BSpin.io | Bitcoin Casino | Instant deposits | Slots, Games and Lottery on: September 03, 2019, 06:11:07 PM
Hi,

I create account today, but mistype my email address, how to fix it?
And, after creating it (with wrong email address due to a minor typo) I don't see log out at Account tab, what's wrong?
Furthermore, do I have to correct my email address for later withdrawals?
It means I want to know that on BSpin.io platform, withdrawals require confirmation from emails or not?

Thank you.
3151  Economy / Gambling / Re: Loteo - Daily & Weekly Lottery | Instant Games | Instant Transactions on: September 03, 2019, 03:52:56 PM
I just wanted to know if your gambling site accepts other altcoins besides Eth?
For now, you have only three options, with Bitcoin, ETH, and Loteu, but I think over time Loteo team might add more altcoins for their site's payment gates. Some good candidates are Dogecoin, Litecoin, Stellar, and Ripple. In my opinion, among those coins, Dogecoin is the one I would like to see on Loteo's platform at most, because it is a basic coin on gambling platforms.
For now, you can make payment with Bitcoin, ETH and Loteu
3152  Economy / Gambling / Re: Cloudbet | Bitcoin Casino & Sportsbook | The No.1 Bitcoin Gambling Site on: September 03, 2019, 03:39:15 PM
Hi,

Can you give me which point in your ToS, that mentions about the accepted locations from which users will be eligible to use Cloudbet?
I read months ago from one Cloudbet users' complaint) that Cloudbet only allows non-USA-citizen users, right?
3153  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Draft page - Pros & Cons on: September 03, 2019, 03:17:29 PM
Who can access this data? I think that only administrators have access to such data.

I can confirm that users don't have to click on Preview button to save draft version of their posts.
Please don't make me laugh if you actually don't know that page.  Smiley
Everyone can see their draft pages through the link (after log-in): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=drafts
Quote
I think you need to either click to post or preview in order to save draft. The forum does not do this automatically.
You can also extend the duration and add a link to the topic through some source user scripts.
I don't check about PMs, but for posts, I checked it myself. I created the thread, just to checked it will be saved in draft page without clicking on Preview button or not. Result is without Preview button click, Draft page saved it. You can check it with your next post.
Honestly, I read other people said that clicking on Preview button is mandatory thing to have saved posts in draft page, but it is incorrect, from what theymos wrote and from my experience.
I think that this draft page is almost useless the way it is.

Auto deletion after 7 days, lack of manual deletion, and so on. We are all basically forced to use a third party editor, even having a native draft page here.

I created a topic about it in meta with suggestions of improvement, but nobody seemed to care, the answers were like "just use an external editor"....
But it at least can help if you delete your posts, and want to get it back within 7 days. As I wrote in OP, for important content, it is always better to compose, edit, save in external text editor. Draft page only should be used in the case we don't save texts in external text editors.
In reality, I think most of us rarely use draft page, and it is one of reasons why draft page has not yet been upgraded. Mainly due to lack of interests, and real usecases.
3154  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies - Read before using exchanges or investing on: September 03, 2019, 06:37:48 AM
Another thing to always do is always make a test deposit first. Then your larger deposit afterwards. You should probably make a test withdraw from the exchange. This can be bothersome though if they withdraw fee is high. If you dealing in a large amount of crypto then you definitely should do a test withdraw. Always check your address and the address you sending to. This is also another reason you should make a test deposit/withdraw. So you deposited.withdrew to the same address again twice in a row and the chance of making the same mistake twice is little.
Yes, it is, but it is not financial benefit to do if you don't have plan to move significant fund. If moving minor fund, there is only one option, making deposits at once, but do remember checking deposit address carefully before click on Send.
It is important to do trial deposits if someone have plan to move significant funds, as well as withdrawals too. I agree.

3156  Other / Meta / Re: @forum-administration recovering some posts on: September 01, 2019, 04:29:45 AM
Isn't it better to just lock the thread if OP deleted his contributions?
Good idea. Locking then archiving it, but your idea is only relevant for deleted posts of OPs, and can not be applied for posts of users whom join discussions inside threads.
3157  Other / Beginners & Help / Draft page - Pros & Cons on: September 01, 2019, 04:18:51 AM
DRAFT PAGE - PROS & CONS

Announcement: Drafts (theymos)
A draft is now saved whenever you post or preview a PM or post. You can see your saved drafts here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=drafts

By the way: Even if your post fails with some error, a draft is likely to get saved. The draft is saved before most errors can occur.

Let's begin with this one. There are still some users incorrectly understand about how draft page works, me too (minutes ago). This is why I put my thread under testing for a while to see how my draft page shows.
Each time you click "Preview", a new draft is saved.
There are some incorrect understandings like above quote as I used to. After testing with the draft version of the thread, I can confirm that users don't have to click on Preview button to save draft version of their posts.
Forum automatically save your posts or (not must) preview PMs/ posts.

.
If you click "preview" once, there will be an immediate backup of the current version of you post (good as backup).
And another backup of the final version after clicking "post".

PROs
  • Getting recent deleted posts back, when you rethink that its contents are helpful
  • Getting previous version of your thread, when you wrongly edited it and clicked on save button
  • Your drafts, in draft page, will not be replaced with newest versions (you can get different versions of your posts in draft page, if they are not yet deleted)

CONs
  • Limited to only last 100 posts and drafts will be automatically deleted after 7 days
  • Unable to recover your deleted posts to where it initially posted
  • Almost unable to see where you post it (post ordinal number). Exception: You can only get which thread you post it, when you quote posts of others when reply them
  • Unable to know when you post it

I know would be useful for users, but as a moderator I hope this doesn't happen with deleting other users posts as it would be a nightmare.

ADVICE
- Using external text editors (Notepad, Microsoft Word, etc.) to save your drafts, especially you plan to reply someone else with long posts, or compose your own threads.
- Paying attention when you see a pop-up window, which ask you to confirm before deleting your posts

Older threads on drafts
Are there methods to move backwards to previous version of OPs in the forum
Request for additional confirmation window before deleting the post.
Drafts don't include where and when you initially posted

3158  Other / Meta / Re: Patrol custom URL guideline + list of active Forum boards on: September 01, 2019, 04:14:48 AM
I visit that page, look at it but still don't actually get what it means. I get it list recent posts in all boards, excluding posts in Bounties (altcoins). I guess so because that page provides recent posts in so many boards. Can you confirm this, please?
3159  Other / Meta / Re: @forum-administration recovering some posts on: September 01, 2019, 03:23:24 AM
If you're expecting the posts to be recovered into the thread - I don't think that's gonna happen. Anybody should be able to delete their posts for any reason and this kind of forced recovery (and then what - how would you prevent them from being deleted again?) would set a really bad precedent. The best you can do is maybe repost important stuff from archives and just generally poke GP in the gonads if he brings up something contradicting his deleted posts.
There is a thread on this issue: Request for additional confirmation window before deleting the post.
Users can get their deleted posts back from draft page, but it is limited to only 100 saved drafts, and they will be deleted entirely after 7 days.
In contrast, they can not recover their deleted posts to original orders in threads: Forum does not allow it, and forum staffs don't want to see that happen.
I know would be useful for users, but as a moderator I hope this doesn't happen with deleting other users posts as it would be a nightmare.
Drafts do not include links to original posts.
Yep. Drafts unfortunately don't include a link to the thread where you wanted to post your reply, unless you quote someone in your reply, (which i usually do.)

That looks something like
Code:
[quote author=Ferylero link=topic=4971628.msg45182093#msg45182093 date=1536065952]
When you click on it it'll redirect you to the topic that the draft was made for/in.

There is another way to get delete posts, from clone forums, but I doubt that the time period to get them back since deleting timepoints is not too long because clone forums will do upgrade their database. Months ago, I misedited my thread, and @iasenko help me to get right version back from clone forum.

3160  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BSV SCAM - Archive web pages on Fake bitcoin blockchain on: August 31, 2019, 02:43:59 PM
I'm not sure this is a good idea. This should be done on its own chain and not the bitcoin blockchain. Blocks are a megabyte in size atm and only ~10% of that could be given to storing this data.
This is what I believe altcoins always have their strong roles in blockchain industry. Of course, I meant good altcoins, not scam altcoin projects. Bitcoin is unreplaceable, I agree, but bitcoin itself can not do all things to build up strong blockchain industry.
We do need altcoins that play its role in daily payments and minor to major things in human cilization, bitcoin in contrast plays as a leader and backbone of crypto currency and blockchain industry.
