I did not know the Manchester United board had discussions with Conte, it might just be rumours as you said otherwise it would have made the news. Keeping that aside I think Conte will leave Tottenham at the end of the season if they do not make a top 4 finish because even though the board and players might want him to stay his position in wanting to buy and sell players will be weakened by lack of Champions League qualification.

I think they weren’t just rumors.  There could be a time when United was starting to see that Solksjaer wasn’t bringing in the results the board wanted, they were looking at all replacement possbilities.  The names that were thrown around were Zidane first and foremost, then Conte who both were out of the job.  Next was Poch and a couple of names.  Thinking more about it, United prolly had informal talks with Conte as there are some news going around that United was turned off by him because expected to be given a 250m GBP transfer budget for the next two summer transfer windows.  But then again that could be football journos writing shit again.  Cheesy

About Gane movement, I have noticed that he due to his good footwork and head moves, he likes to dive under punches and counter attack. Ngannou beloved punch is an uppercut. This might end badly if one connects another. Also, in late round, when Gane feels confident he put his hands down (check his fight against Lewis). That half a second to put fists back to chin might not be enough against Ngannou. Despite this, I see no other weak parts in Gane.

^  Yup, Gane puts his hands down and leans his head back to avoid getting hit.  It’s called the tall man defense.  That’s very dangerous vs a guy like Ngannou who hits like a truck.  But yeah I think early rounds Ngannou and if he doesn’t get a finish and he gasses, it’s gonna be all Gane til the final round.  Gane could even finish Ngannou.  Maybe...  Dunno.  But from a betting perspective, value is on Ngannou.  IMHO.  It might be one of those things when the match is done, we’d be going ‘wtf was everybody expecting?’.  Lol.

Live weigh ins is gonna be live in an hour or so.  I got my eye on Fig and Stamann.  Smiley  If they look good, I think they’re live underdogs.

New rumors with Dembele future on Barcelona and Xavi ask him keep extended new contract or leaving club before January window transfer close, I think have threat for Dembele not to beat around the bush in contract negotiations with Barcelona, even as a result of his actions in delaying a contract extension he was not included when Barcelona faced Bilbao in the Copa del Rey. Barcelona should try to find a club that is willing to accommodate Dembele and is willing to pay a high price for the transfer fee.

Yet another guy who was having a promising career and then he moved to Barcelona.  Coutinho, Neymar and the other guy from France...  Griezmann.  Just from a casual observer looking in, I think Barca is going thru something like what Liverpool went through.  Decades of drought and it would take a little bit more to get them back to their glory days again.  Meanwhile I see Real Madrid isn’t really taking advantage of this either.  Wtf happened to building this generation’s galacticos?  There were some talks about it when Hazard went to Real.

Red Bull Racing [...] Adrien Newey is a genius.  If there’s an engineer who’s going to pull of something like this it’s him.  He prolly found his own way with how the aero should be with these new cars’ specs.

[...]

Could one of those teams be Williams?  I just found out that Jenson Button is a special advisor for the team.  Button was Brawn GP’s driver who won the championship.  Hmmm...

I'd definitely agree about Adrian Newey, if someone has found a better way to do something, then it's more than likely to be him.

Not sure about Button. I think the reference to Brawn is that we could have a runaway team 'like Brawn were', not someone using the same technical approach as Brawn did, simply some team, any team, being a runaway leader in interpreting the regs. Button may be a link back to Brawn, but I don't think he'd have the same level of expertise and insight as a genuine specialist.

But here’s the thing, Jenson Button has the experience acquired from Brawn GP and from working with the man himself.  So he prolly knows a thing or two in what Brawn did differently in that championship winning year.  2009 was it?  I mean what else would Williams hire him for iin an advisory role if not for his experience.

And we should also be aware that William’s team is composed of the so called ‘super team’ at WRC who has recently just transitioned to F1.  So if there’s a team who’ll most likely think outside the box, it’s them.  But yeah, Newey is def guy no. 1.
3145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 20, 2022, 05:26:14 PM
the legacy proof of work coins did nothing this bull cycle. xmr, litecoin, bch, all terrible performance, dont go anywhere near these legacy coins if you actually care about making money.

monero is great for privacy if you wanna do some hidden transactions but never store your economic energy in xmr, its a terrible store of value!

bitcoin and ethereum did over 3x from the previous highs during the 2017-2018 peak. Accounting for usd inflation monero never even broke its previous all time high from the last cycle.

And since we have entered a bear market monero is gonna go below $50.

I will try to be polite, but like cAPSLOCK I totally disagree.
Personally Monero has been the best investment I ever made after Bitcoin and a fair amount of the Bitcoin I acquired have been from profit taking on Monero's peaks.  This may not be the case for everyone, of course - but 'storing my economic energy' in it has proved to be very rewarding.

As to a $50 Monero?  Er.. not anytime soon IMO.  It was way under that level ($26) as recently as 2020, but that only proves that today's price is hardly disappointing.  On the contrary, Monero is currently acting bullish and a 75%-plus collapse is unlikely in any near timeframe.

Since you seem very confident, may I ask within what amount of time do you expect Monero to be under $50?

But relative to the market, Monero actually is very disappointing.  If you’re an XMR maxi and everything you have is in XMR, I don’t think you’ve out performed the market that much and that’s if you’ve even out performed the market.  I mean sure ‘the market’ has new coins being listed during the bullish phases and their all pumped to bloated market shares.  Use XMR/BTC as the core basis then.  It’s really an ugly chart for the XMR holder tbh.
3146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will 2022 be the year of ETH 2.0? on: January 20, 2022, 05:18:14 PM
^  True that.  I’ve been dabbling around the new stuff lately and was interested in staking some token but was very surprised to see how high the fees are.  So I wait...  And I was again more surprised with how higher the fees are at this moment when I checked.

I mean jfc, check this out.  Lmao.

Not trying to sound negative but I honestly do not think eth 2.0 will be launched this year 2022, I say this because many anticipated the launch to be last year but still, they postponed again for no concrete reason.
I think reason for the delay in launching eth 2.0 is because miners are gaining massive wealth from the high transaction cost which anyone transacting on the Ethereum network has to pay, and launching eth 2.0 now will automatically put an end to this huge inflow of cash, I honestly feel this is why they've refused to launch eth 2.0 ever since it was announced.

If that’s the case then it’s prolly good for VB to develop their own L2 or at least have an exisiting L2 backed by his team with finances and development.  ETH L1 is getting ridiculous.

But I think ETH 2.0 is shipping this year.  Again if it doesn’t implode, 10k min easy and it could even go as high as 30k.  IMHO.

Ronaldo has started to feel uncomfortable at MU, even though he has only played with MU this season. According to the Independent, Ronaldo threatened to leave next season if Manchester United failed to enter the Champions League. Players who were expected to bring improvements to Manchester United were not able to show their best game in every match. Indeed, the strategy factor and other players are also influential, but he himself is also not so good in my opinion. He has only scored 8 goals or half of the goals that were created by Salah. So, If Ronaldo did leave Manchester United, where would he go next? Is it to Milan (which usually looks for old star players) haha..  Tongue
I don't think it's just because Manchester failed to qualify for the Champions League which caused Ronaldo want to go to another club, but his relationship with the current coach which is less harmonious makes Ronaldo feel like he regrets having returned to Manchester, after the departure of OGS, Ronaldo hopes that Manchester will bring in Zidane as a coach next but instead manchester signed rangnick and that made ronaldo quite annoyed.

I don’t think Ronaldo ‘hoped’ for any manager when he signed up to go back to Man United.  I think he was just happy to be signed.  He was like a lost puppy looking for a new club during the last days of the summer transfer window and he was also desperate enough to be talking with United’s rival, City.  Lol.  So no...  And Zidane was out of the question anyway.  He’s having his sabbatical and was never going to manage any club this year.  I think that he made very clear.

And as masulum said.  Where is he going next?  Please make it PSG.  Cheesy  I mean it’s funny now but it would make sense if Mbappe leaves...  Here’s the kicker, PSG’s new manager if Poch leaves could be Zidane.  Wink

Most teams will show their new car during February, that much is known. However we need to actually see them running, they need to be tested to see actually what happens. I mean don't get me wrong the style of the car matters a lot, an ugly car usually doesn't really impact that much but marketing is very important in this sport and without those cars getting attention, we are not going to get too much money. Remember those pink bwt cars? Most people hated them for a while, then it grew on us right? So marketing is important but not really "that" important.

We know how black and silver Mercedes will be, and how red bull colors for red bull, those are all known. The only important thing is, these cars have a brand new design and that could change a lot of things or maybe not change anything at all, we need to see that and figure out who will be what.

According to Domenicali who is now the boss of F1 under Liberty Media and who knows all the projects he said

"2 cars are not following the other cars project and we can have a BrawnGp case next year".

It means 2 cars or better 4  will be different from the pack and it will probably be a huge advantage or a disadvantage, we don't know yet who they are.

I think I know.  If it’s two teams developing their cars differently then who really owns two teams running side by side in F1 right now?  Red Bull.  It has Red Bull Racing and its sister team Alpha Tauri.  And Adrien Newey is a genius.  If there’s an engineer who’s going to pull of something like this it’s him.  He prolly found his own way with how the aero should be with these new cars’ specs.

Another team that could go about car development differently could be Williams since they have a group of people running the team who are really new to F1.  But who could the other team be?  And I’m most excited about Williams this coming season btw.

Edit:  Could one of those teams be Williams?  I just found out that Jenson Button is a special advisor for the team.  Button was Brawn GP’s driver who won the championship.  Hmmm...

I agree, I think they should have tried to hire Conte because he is a passionate manager and displays all his emotions on the pitch and he expects his teams to portray his style on the pitch. He had a successful playing career especially at Juventus where he won the Champions League and he went on to manager them with great success including 3 consecutive Serie A titles before he went on to manage Italy for two years.

Conte was also a successful manager at Chelsea and at Inter therefore the conclusion is Tottenham should do well under his stewardship but the rumour is he will leave at the end of the season because of issues relating to his vision for the club versus that of the chairman Levy.

Now that Manchester United opted to not hire Conte they have a long list of candidates but they will not have a colourful CV like Conte.

@JollyGood the board members of Manchester United can add letting Conte get away to their series of bad decisions, because each time a professional coach is available each time they failed to hire them and look what Kloop, Pep, and now Conte is doing and imagine if only one of them was coaching Manchester United.

Lastly while Manchester United won their defensive weakness was all too clear to see, so unless they buy a good central midfielder and one more defender I doubt they’ll be able to secure the fourth spot.

But Man United did try to hire Conte to take over after giving Solksjaer the sack.  But the talks broke down as according to rumors, Conte wanted more control in who goes in and who goes out during the transfer market.  It’s funny tho cos I don’t think he’ll be getting more control as Tottenham either with Daniel Levy around.

And Poch..  It is said that he wants out of PSG cos he is just a coach and not a manager because he doesn’t have any say in the transfer business.  He is next in line to be Man United ‘manager’ if the rumors are true.  Lol.  He won’t be getting more control at Old Trafford either.  Grin

Ngannou not likely to sign another contract with the UFC, unless they give him a hefty pay rise. Wonder how Dana will handle it, if he gives money to Ngannou, he'll need to give it to other fighters also, which could open a can of worms.

I'd like to see a pay restructure since most fighters on the card are criminally underpaid when you compare it with other sports, and we've had this discussion before about MMA fighters needing to pay higher fees than boxers due to learning multiple disciplines.

But where is he going to go?  The UFC is the best and the biggest MMA organization in the world.  I mean sure he can have more freedom and get sponsors and endorsements to get more money.  But then again it’s also a problem.  How tf is he going to get endorsements of his platform isn’t the UFC?  It’s like a catch 22.

I think Dana White said once that he wanted to sign Fedor back in the day but Fedor didn’t want to and so he prolly is thinking about that right now cos he was offering Fedor way more than what he’s making at Bellator and other outifits.

Quote
I guess with Ngannou and Gane, one of the reasons why was that leaked tape showing the sparring session the both had at MMA Factory, Ngannou’s former gym.   If anybody finds a YT clip feel free to post it itt.
If its the same tape I saw I'd say that put Gane in a more positive light than Ngannou, right?

Yup.  Gane was touching him.

Actually I don't what will the regulators next approach on the next generation Online Casino since most of them is moving toward Web 3.0 format which is a completely decentralized. I wonder how can they still regulate or required KYC procedure for gamblers that playing on exceeding amount of the required for the KYC.

Web 3.0 sphere.  may also be subject to regulatory restrictions.

Creators of Web 3.0.  they are living people.  They may be fined.  They can be repressed.  They can be put in jail.  web 3.0.  it is a direct competitor to the modern financial system.  Currently, online casinos can plan to work in web 3.0.  without KYC, AML, etc.  However, this may not be possible in the future.

Perhaps there will be an anonymous and confidential web 3.0.  based on Monero and Tari.  There will be no KYC and AML.

Will Tari even be launched?  Lol.  It has been like 5 years since it was first announced.  It sounded refreshing when they said they weren’t doing a public funding round through an ICO.  This was during a time when ICO’s were usually scammy, even the legit projects were scammy because the tokenomics were bad and primed the team and the private investors for selling down and leave the community holding the bag.

Anyway some suggestions in the thread look too ‘out there’.  I don’t think the books and the casinos will dabble in DeFi or NFTs.  They already have enough on their plate as far as dealing with the law goes.  Lol.  But what they could do is branch out to fantasy sports which I think is just a natural progression.  It’s not really a big move but sports betting sites and other gambling sites aren’t really going for more ‘cutting edge’ stuff to be more competitive.

Still, I'm having my doubts if ETH will upgrade to PoS this year due to the delay in ETH's difficulty bomb. How long will it take for mining on the ETH blockchain to come to an end is beyond me.

I don’t think they have the luxury to delay the fork again.  It’s this year or never imho.  There are some talks going around that the fork could happen on June but could be delayed until fall.  If Ethereum does hard fork on June and it doesn’t implode at itself, I’d say ETH could go up to more than 10k per coin.  Easy...  Maybe it could go up even more.

And a lot of folks in here don’t believe that a flippening is possible.  I have been trying to call it but I’ve been looking like an ass.  Lol.  But something tells me that won’t be the case in a couple of years.

But then again if it doesn’t happen this year, ETH could lose market share and give way to the next best smart contract platform.  What that is we can’t be sure.  Right now it’s BNB if based on market cap but I have a feeling Gavin Wood could take over the reins with Polkadot.

^  Benitez is a legend at Liverpool because he won them the UCL at a time when Liverpool were past their best days and during a decade when their biggest rival, United, was winning the league and so were Chelsea and Arsenal.  So if you were a Liverpool supporter, that UCL title win was probably one big ‘fu’ on everybody.  Maybe it could even be considered a more important UCL title win than Klopp’s...  Dunno, we have to ask LFC_Bitcoin about that.

Anyway Trofo, let’s give our little side bet a month more or so.  I think I’m losing this one again.  Lol.

Lmao.  Speak for yourself...  Racing Point’s ‘Pink Mercedes’ never grew on me.  And really it’s all just a show to pump us up before the season starts.  I really don’t mind all the marketing stuff being done, with the unveiling and stuff.  If anything, if you’re a fan of teams not Merc or RBR, you should enjoy it.  Once the season starts, all eyes are mostly on those two, especially after what happened last season.

Another thing to watch is how Russell performs with Mercedes, which again takes the spotlight away from lower tier teams to mostly their team.
3155  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: January 19, 2022, 02:09:00 PM
I shouldn't have bet on Chelsea, although I've even written the stats of the head-to-head encounters here, with 4 draws in the last 5 games! Brighton are fundamentally uncomfortable opponents for Chelsea...
It will be interesting to see how Man U play Brentford today... I think there might be another draw here...
Chelsea had many chances of scoring, but lacked a good striker. Although, it was a home match for Brighton, and they pressured Chelsea in the second half, after losing in the first half. They however succeeded in securing a goal, which probably equalized the score. Nevertheless, as a Chelsea fan, I was highly disappointed with their performance yesterday. I hope to see them recover by winning Tottenham on Sunday.

While Brentford is a tough team to deal with, and Manchester United really need a good strategy to defeat their host. The game is indeed likely to end draw.

Brentford or draw double chance is lined at 2.08 right now.  It’s ‘ok’ value but not much value.  The question here is if both teams score.  BTTS yes is at 1.64 and no is at 1.93.  So the books have it in the middle.  But what do you guys think?  Would the match most likely end with a 1 - 1 or 2 - 1 than a 0 - 0?  Betting for Brentford win or draw double chance and a BTTS combo would bump the line to 3.25.

Now I think that’s good value for what it is.  But kinda complicates things.

3156  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ English Premier League Season: 2021/2022 on: January 19, 2022, 01:55:08 PM
Brighton and Hove Albion 1-1 Chelsea
The reverse fixture was 1 - 1 but I can’t see Brighton scoring against Chelsea after seeing how they defended against City tbh.  Yeah KDB got one in but I don’t think Brighton could do the same...  This feels like a win for Chelsea to nil.  But a safer bet would be to go for Brighton team totals under 0.5 goals at 2.25 or something.
Chelsea is playing poorly at the moment, and with Kepa and Alonso in the team, you can be sure that the opponent will score. Brighton is playing far better than Chelsea at the moment, and Chelsea has played a lot of games in a short period of time.

To be honest, I think Brighton over 0.5 goals is a good bet.

Ooof you and JollyGood got it right.  And JollyGood got the exact outcome too.  Lol.  That would’ve paid what?  Around 8x your bet?  Not bad imo.

Chelsea now two points behind Liverpool and Liverpool is behind two matches.  Assuming they win those matches, they’d be ahead of Chelsea by 8 points.  Meh..  I have a side bet with Trofo that Chelsea finishes higher than Liverpool for 30 bucks.  Cheesy  I guess I’ll be giving it another month or so before I pay him.

Anyway does anybody else think Brentford could win vs Man United?  Grin

I can't believe this odds I see now on Francis N'Gannou to win against Ciryl Gane!  Shocked
I know both of them are great fighters but giving N'Gannou role of an underdog  will just make him want to win faster to prove everyone wrong.
Dana White is not in good relations with him and maybe he would want to see Ciryl Gane as new champion of heavyweight division...

Yup, it’s prolly another case of the MMA betting market being irrational again.  Just like what happened last week with Kattar vs Chikadze.  Everyone both sharps and squares were big on Chikadze.  And it’s unsurprising really, esp how Chikadze finished Barboza in under three rounds.

I guess with Ngannou and Gane, one of the reasons why was that leaked tape showing the sparring session the both had at MMA Factory, Ngannou’s former gym.   If anybody finds a YT clip feel free to post it itt.

Here are the next set of fixtures to be played on Tuesday 18th January 2022:

Burnley vs Watford
Brighton and Hove Albion vs Chelsea

Here is how I see the games playing out  Grin
Burnley 0-1 Watford
Brighton and Hove Albion 1-1 Chelsea

Too hard to say with Burnley and Watford.  They’re both inconsistent and it’s a mid week fixture.  Watford had a short break but Burnley didn’t play vs Leicester due to the fixture getting postponed.  So Burnley players are rested.  It could give them an edge in the second half of the match.  Watford also got 4 players injured a couple others out on international duty.  I think Watford could park the bus here and try to get what they can at the counter.  HT draw at 2.11 looks good here imo.

IDK at this point, seems to be holding pretty strong at $40K.

Maybe the days of 80% corrections after ATHs are over?

I'm still bearish personally, but it has been a great your for Crypto in general. We'll see.

But I’m kinda getting some 2018 feelz right now when everybody keeps yapping around telling everybody to ‘buy the dip’ but what they’re really doing is market selling right after.  Cheesy  But yeah, it’s either that or they’re holding and sweating, esp the guys who have bigs bag of coins in the red.

And here’s another thing, there’s prolly guys in here who bought their coins below 10k who are telling everybody else to buy their coins at 60k, 50k and soon to be 40k.

Messi wasn't singlehandedly carrying but he had the most impact on the pitch for Barcelona. We also cannot deny the impact players like Xavi, Iniesta or Neymar had but Messi had the most impact. Before Neymar and Suarez joined, he had the duty of scoring goals and he did that very well. Even scoring 91 goals in a calendar year.
(I dunno how he did that) After Neymar and Suarez joined, he moved to the right flank and assisted them with tons of goals also while he scored lots by himself.

In my opinion, this is a biased statement - Xavi and Iniesta made the greatest contribution to the team. If you remember Xavi and Iniesta won the 2008 European Championship, then the 2010 World Championship and then again the 2012 European Championship - the greatest achievement. They did it without Messi, and without them, Messi himself failed at the 2010 World Cup and then at the 2011 America's Cup.
At everytime Barcelona always has great players.
Players like Eto, Ronaldinho, Ibrahimovic, Ture Yaya, Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Neymar, Saurez etc.
These players have their best and played their quota in making the club great.
Yet, there impacts divers based on the time they arrived, their wings and loyalty.
Xavi and I Iniesta had great impact because they span to different generations and were doing it when it seems no one else could handle the midfield.
Messi having rose to arguably the best player in the world, still remained with Barcelona in what seems like a life contract.
So, their levels of loyalty differed according to their roles and how the club made them. I think Messi was Barca made and he gave back to Barca.

Messi was actually a La Masia ‘graduate’ and moved up the ranks from the B squad then finally moved up to the first team by none other than Pep Guardiola.  I think Barca got him when he was 13 years old.  And there were some stories about him having a growth problem and Barca helped him overcome it be giving him the best medical care at the team.  So yeah...  Who wouldn’t be loyal.  The club took care of him and made him.

If it weren’t for the whole mess behind the scenes within Barca, I don’t think he would’ve left.
