I genuinely believe its a hangover from a great manager. It's never easy to replace your manager that has basically become part of the furniture. They usually have some stubborn personalities, and usually do it a little different from the norm. Sir Alex Ferguson commanded respect, so he was able to get away with a lot of things that other managers can't. Same as Klopp when we lose Klopp I genuinely believe we'll go into another dip, unless we have another fantastic manager to back him up. There's hope in Klopp's assistant manager, and Gerrard, but we'll have to see.

I wouldn't call managers like Mourinho or Van Gaal bad, these are the best talents you can get for the money in the current market. The bigger problem is the eagerness of the fans and supporters. They want instant result. It took 3 years for Klopp to finally win a trophy at Liverpool. But Man Utd was so accustomed to win titles in Ferguson's era that anything less than that is a bad season for them. Solskjær was doing great but then Ronaldo came and he had to change his plans and it backfired. Now, Tan Hag who is one of the best European managers but already facing backlash after a single loss. Only if fans can remain supportive to him for a season or two like Barca doing with Xavi, he can turn the wheel of United's fortune.

Van Gaal was past his best days when Man United gave him the call and got him in the club.  I think the biggest mistake was hiring the genius Moyes.  It would've been different if they went straight to Mourinho.  He wasn't deteriorating yet at the time and he has always expressed his desire to manage United after Ferguson.  What could have been...

There were also some words swirling around at the time that Ferguson went to Barcelona to give Guardiola a visit during the latter's sabbatical and to ask him to be the next United manager.  He went to Bayern but I think Pep has always had his eyes set on City after Ferran Soriano and Txiki went there.

The UFC is starting to become a very interesting lightweight. Yes, you know, Islam Makhahev and Charles Oliveria were paired for the title challenge in the ufc 280 main card. Oliveria accepted this fight anyway, it would be better for Makhachev to build this match. If Oliveria beats Islam, the Khabib match may come up. Oliveria will not refuse in this fight. He has the confidence that he can fight anyone in the lightweight division right now. On the other hand, Fiziev comes to the top with his victories, Mc Gregor gets well, he will come to the ring again, it is not clear who he will go with, a lot of names are being talked about.
As much as I'd love to see Khabib back in the cage, he made a promise to his mother, and he seems like the type of guy that'll keep that promise. Losing his father was unfortunate, especially since that's the major contributing factor to why he no longer fights, and I'm a little gutted as I never really got to see his earlier fights. I believe the first fight I saw was with him, and Conor (I think). Justin was after Conor, right?

I'm going with Charles on that fight though. I can't pass up that man, too many times I've doubted him, and he ends up delivering. So, I'll be putting a cheeky little bet on him to win.

And he's kinda fat now.  So if ever he's coming back, he'll be fighting at 170.  But I think it's safe to say he's def not coming back.  He's training his cousins now, with Makhachev as his best shot to follow in his foot steps and get a title.

Anyway, lots of new faces itt...  I'm not sure if you guys really like the UFC or you're just here for your sigs but try watching a couple of events.  You'll love it.  And why not drop a little action in some of the match ups while you're at it.  You could bet for as little as 1 USD in your favorite book.  Parlays are good for fun.

So...  Who you guys got between Vera and Cruz?  I got my lottery tickets set on Vera but in my mind I'm still back and forth.  Cruz could out fox Vera here.  Dunno.
2263  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: August 11, 2022, 07:59:33 AM

Lol...  It's truuue!  How managers did Man U hire after Ferguson? How much money was spent on transfers since 2014?  A lot!
6 managers since 2013 + £600+m spent on transfer

But from De Gea's statement alone, I think that enough for the club to look at which top tier keeper is gonna be a free agent on January...  Any guesses?

...  Ter Stegen.  =]

I'd like to see him play in the EPL and Man United is perfect for him.  De Gea seems like he doesn't want to play there anymore.  He's been there for more than a decade now.
De Gea is the club's only valuable asset; he is exposed in every game more than any other keeper in the league. Keepers always need a proper DM for protections. Ter Stegen is a dreadful goalkeeper.
D

It was a question that obv didn't need an answer.  Lol.  But yeah something is deeply wrong with Man United.  They learned from Liverpool's demise and did everything they could to avoid the same fate.  But 10 years later, here they are...  Suffering the same fate.  What did they do wrong?  It's like they're cursed.

And are you kidding?  Ter Stefen dreadful?  Even if he could be acquired as a free transfer?

^  It's a shame that Grasso vs Araujo was cancelled.  That and the main event between Vera and Cruz are the only match ups worthy for a main card imho.  These other ones are good but for prelims.  This event is just like the last event.  Lots of fillers but pretty sure some of the are sleepers...  Besides the main event, Bruno Silva vs GM3 could be good and Landwehr vs Onama.

Anyway, I'm back and forth on who to pick for the main event.  Who you guys got?  Take note that San Diego is where Cruz is from.

There might be 2 fighters who are very much underestimated for this event. The Dominator Cruz and Angela Hill. Similar to what you have already mentioned, Cruz is from San Diego. Angela Hill is also from San Diego. I speculate that if they reach the decision, the judges might give questionable split decisions for the 2 of them. This is not very impossible in the UFC.

Also, another underestimated fighter also might be Iasmin Lucindo from Brazil. She is only 20 years old, however, she has more experience than her opponent.

Sure that could be a factor but if you watch Cruz's last couple of matches you'd see that he was knocked down 4 times.  Two vs Casey Kenny and another two vs Pedro Munhoz.  Vera is so durable and gets better and stronger as the fight progresses.  He's a 5 round fighter.  If the match was only three rounds I could see your argument for Cruz but it's not.  I could even see Vera getting the finish.  Cruz's chin is shot.

Here are my lottery tickets.

Onama - Osbourne at 1.85
Add:  Vera - Buday - Silva at 4.64
Add:  Quinlan - Godinez - Benitez at 10.66
Add:  Blackshear - Clark - Jauregi at 71.81
Add:  Nunes - Cachoeira 459.27

And here's the Multi Master.

UFC on ESPN 41 - Multi Master Challenge

2266  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH Sentiment Poll for August on: August 10, 2022, 02:21:00 PM
Sorry I haven't voted yet, I'm still looking at how BTC will move at least at the end of the month. We all know that everything even ETH price is somewhat correlated to BTC.

So if BTC entered and break the biggest barrier of $25k-$28k (currently we have a upsurge to $24k), then maybe at the end of the month we will see ETH breaking $2000 as well. Although I do agree that it is not hard to reach that price, still there could be some factors from BTC that will help investors to invest more again, not just for ETH but the rest of good and solid altcoins.

There's no right or wrong answer here.  And it's not about getting it right.  The poll is more like to know how you guys feel about the market for the month of August...  Your sentiment.  So yeah, just have fun with it.

Anyway I'm really surprised most of you don't think 2k is possible for ETH this month.  I guess this is the part when everybody doesn't trust the price action yet?  Kinda like when it was all at all time high and didn't think the trend down was coming.  Lol.
2267  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: August 10, 2022, 02:12:34 PM
I think they have a lot of prospect and would perform better than they did last season, there just still seem to be some missing pieces for them to put together, especially in the attack, the midfield was quite okay imo, but they need explosive attackers on the flanks.

They have a really decent squad actually. I still don't understand what is wrong with this team currently. I thought that it was related to especially Solskjaer's management style. But it turns out that the same problems are continuing for them.

They are about to complete another signing who is Adrien Rabiot. They needed to fill the place being emptied by Pogba and they have gone for Rabiot. I wonder what Ronaldo is thinking about this move as he worked with him at Juventus. I think this move is nice but they just need to focus on the source of this worrying problem above all else.
Degea claimed that the team was cursed! There is more to that statement, and I don't believe he was incorrect. Even the previous coach felt the same way, and it's starting to show: they have a very good squad and a very good squad depth, but they continue to perform below average.

Manchester United's problem is a proper DM who can cover up spaces and bring energy to the game; Rabiot can DM as well, but he's not that guy. Fred's conversion to DM isn't working because he's spent his entire life playing the attacking role before joining Manchester United. Something is wrong with the team when the goalkeeper is the best player in every game. They need Ndidi or Rice in that position..

^  Mmm after watching some tape, it's Vera's durability which makes me kinda lean on him.  And he's somewhat fast enough to evade some of Cruz's offense.  Cruz on the other hand is who I think is more well rounded between these guys.  He has a wrestling background, has good take downs, good foot work, good volume but not much power in those hands.  Vera has power and there's a possibility Vera could finish him at R4 or R5.  And watch Cruz vs Munhoz, I think Cruz's chin isn't what it used to...

Date:  Saturday, August 13
Main Card (PPV):  7:00pm EST
Preliminary Card (ESPN/ESPN+):  4:00pm EST
Venue:  Pechanga Arena, San Diego, California, United States

Main Card (ESPN/ESPN+)
Bantamweight:  Marlon Vera vs.   Dominick Cruz
Featherweight:  Nate Landwehr vs David Onama
Middleweight:  Gerald Meerschaert vs Bruno Silva

Preliminary Card (ESPN/ESPN+)
Women's Bantamweight:  Ariane Lipski vs Priscila Cachoeira

Well, it really happens and this time problem with her Visa was the cause, but I think we can still see her next event and Viviane Araújo hasn't fought another fighter aswell, so we can still see these two fight it out,

And for me the fights you see there and that I have not erased are what for me is not able to look at, 1st was the Marlon Vera VS Dominick Cruz which for me Vera will really need to be more technical here, but will look further in details, 2nd Nate Landwehr VS David Onama, 3rd was Gerald Meerschaert VS Bruno Silva, and lastly the fitting kitten last event that has been canceled, Ariane Lipski VS Priscila Cachoeira,

I could see the main event being a scenario for a live bet for Vera.  Vera usually starts slow and gets better as the fight goes.  So being a 5 rounder could be in Vera's favor.  Earlier this year or was it late last year, Stunna of Stake said they were opening the MMA market for live betting this year.  But anyway...  Yeah, I guess live bet Vera after R1 or R2.

Here's some replays of both.

2270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / ETH Sentiment Poll for August on: August 08, 2022, 12:40:35 PM
Just a simple poll to get a feeler on what this part of the forum thinks of ETH and the altcoin market right now.  I would've asked for 2.5k but I guess breaking out 2k has as much psychological effect as 2.5k.

Anyway, how do you guys feel about the market right now?  Getting bullish?  And in a good way?  There are times when you have to worry when everybody starts getting bullish.  I feel like this is not that.  But dunno...  I want to know what you guys think.

2271  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ English Premier League Season: 2022/2023 on: August 08, 2022, 12:28:32 PM
It seems Ten Hag will have to turn things around fast otherwise fans and commentators will be asking for him to be sacked but their fans will always be asking for the owners to sell up and move on as they have been making so much money out of the club and putting them in debt.

It's first time Brighton won a match vs United in all competitions, in all their match ups.  It's really quite a fear for Graham Potter for beating all odds.  I guess it's going to be one long season for Manchester United supporters?  Cheesy  They will not be calling for the head of their manager this season.  It's gonna be the owners'.

No...  That isn't the mood anymore.  The supporters are now blaming the owners.  Lmaooo.  They've already blamed the managers, some of the players and Ed Woodward.  They've had multiple changes in managers, hundreds of millions spent in transfers and Woodward minimizing his say in player acquisitions.  And we still see the same thing.  It looks like another couple of years of nothing.  :/

The last spot in the top 4 will be fought be West Ham, Chelsea, Arsenal and Man United with Arsenal getting it imho.

2 goals are very difficult for them to equalize or even reverse. But they are not completely over because there are still 45 minutes to the second.
But I didn't enjoy the games they played in pre-season. Really a difference I feel here. Apart from that, Brighton have a very impenetrable defense and their attacks are effective.

I could see United possibly getting the equalizer if they could get they're act together.  But yeah, it looks like we're all seeing the same problems as before.  Gaps in their formation when they don't have the ball, players seem all over the place, no communication between players.  They suck.

What Ten Hag do now is let the 'unwanted one' on the pitch...  Get Ronaldo in to make two goals.  Cheesy

Edit:  Trofo, any plans to restart the thread and make it self moderated?

LOOOOOL UNITED!

This is such a joke.  These guys are starting to be hopeless.  I mean losing the first league game at home?  Ten Hag looks calm but he's prolly having butterflies in his stomach right now and can't wait to give the hair dryer at half time.

Oh...  And the manager United should have hired is that guy managing the opposing side.  Graham Potter...  :/

So I guess Ronaldo is back in the menu now?  Cheesy

^  Vicente Luque is the pie shitter of my lottery ticket.  I think it's his first time getting finished in a match in a looong time.  I'd be wary betting for him in his next matches now unless his next opponent is a total can.  But you could just see a fighter's career starting to going down when he gets back to back losses against guys who are getting better.  A couple of years ago I could never imagine Luque losing to Belal Muhammad and Geoff Neal.

Anyway, I'll make a proper roster for the next event later.  Congrats to those who cashed their tickets.

^  Haaland has to perform right?  I mean City had like chances left and right per match last season.  Haaland has to get like a couple of those at least and convert them into goals.  But I gotta say, West Ham has a good squad themselves tho.

Anyway I have like a parlay with draw no bet Leicester, draw no bet Man United and draw no bet Man City at 2.05.  It should win rrignt guys?  Lol.  Cheesy  I'm down for the day in the UFC.
2278  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: August 06, 2022, 02:01:07 PM
Lezzz gooo!  Let's go for max value and bet 100 bucks each sent directly to our wallets, whoever wins.  If you win I give you 100, if I win your give me 100.  And here's the thing...  How long do we have to wait?  I'm pretty sure it won't happen this year but it could happen next year.  So bet is on until early 2024 or do you really want to wait?  Wink  I'm ok with whatever you want.
All good, Bitcoin sent to wallet of the winner.
I am OK with $100 with all the rules we agreed, but let's limit time period for the end of year 2022, so if fight happens until then our bet stands.
Next year 2023 is not so far away but in next year we should revise out rules and confirm if we agree or not, so anyone can choose to accept or refuse.

Lol then I'm pretty sure the bet isn't happening cos no way the UFC is matching those two again right away.  Nunes' next match would be at 145 to defend her belt there.  Pena on the other hand will prolly fight somebody else to make her way up into title contention again.

Here are the weigh in results.  One fighter missed weight.  And I think Quinlan vs Witt was rescheduled.

Thiago Santos (206) vs Jamahal Hill (205)
Vicente Luque (170.5) vs Geoff Neal (171)
Zac Pauga (239) vs. Mohammed Usman (236.5)
Juliana Miller (125) vs Brogan Walker (125.5)
Augusto Sakai (260) vs Serghei Spivac (249.5)
Priscila Cachoeira (125.5) vs Ariane Lipski (128.5)*
Sam Alvey (186) vs Michal Oleksiejczuk (185.5)
Erick Gonzalez (155) vs Terrance McKinney (155.5)
Bryan Battle (171) vs Takashi Sato (170.5)
Josh Quinlan (169) vs Jason Witt (170)
Miranda Granger (115.5) vs Cory McKenna (115.5)
Stephanie Egger (134.5) vs Mayra Bueno Silva (135.5)

Enjoy the event guys.

^  It was knee to knee.  I think it was a soft penalty.  But dunno..  I'm pretty sure one can also argue that it was the right call.

And this is why I hate betting on football.  You just don't know how these teams are gonna show up.  I couldn't tell if Fulham was as or more intense in most parts of the match or if Liverpool was having an off day.  It's really not like Liverpool to not be dominant esp against a newly promoted club.

Edit:  0 - 1 for Southampton...  I'm out!

Wow...  Is anybody watching the match?  I didn't expect Fullham to be well drilled enough to press Liverpool and not give Klopp's men to settle.  And I didn't know Marco Silva is managing Fullham...  First 10 mins, all Fullham then Liverpool started to have their moments.  But first blood drawn by Fullham via Mitrovic goal.

But let's see what Fullham does at the second half when some fatigue sets in...
