Only bad thing about naming them after a food type is they kind of get typecasted.  Much like BBQ Coins.  I have only seen a few BBQ restaurants and BBQ Sauce vendors take that coin.  And I don't think the coin is taken serious because of that.

325  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Netcodepool.org - LTC Pool - Best Community, Lowest Stales, Prizes! on: November 08, 2013, 04:42:51 PM
I have been mining with them for many months now.  It's a great pool.  Have never had a problem with payments, and they do alot to help everyone adjust their miners, and help out when people are having problems.  Something I have not found on any other Pool I have been in (Tried 2 other LTC pools, and a boatload of other Alt-coin pools, and a 2 BTC ones (From before the ASICS came and destroyed the network for us GPU miners)).

They also have had quite a few contests in the past, giving away LTC, Silver bars, and even a Video Card.  Something I have never seen from any other pool.

As for the Scrypt FPGA thread.  I just looked that one up.  It wasn't anything to do with the NetCode Pool.  It was a thread made by one of the members, who is no longer a member of Netcode Pool.  And you can see piles of threads even on this site where people are looking for donations to make a Scrypt ASIC.  No bank will ever touch something like this.  I personally don't want ASIC's to come to Scrypt, so I never gave him anything for the project.

They are currently working on making the Pool a Multi-coin pool, which I am looking forward to, as I occasionally mine a few other alt coins (Bottlecaps, MEC, DGC, CGB).  But I guess I will have to wait and see on that one, as that project seems a bit stalled atm.

And no I am not part of the Netcode team, just a happy user/member.

Well if an awesome name was brought up, I am sure it would persuade a few people and get the ball rolling.  But so far I haven't seen anything that makes the name stand out from the massive crowd of Alt coins, like Bottlecaps does.  Perhaps a bit more brainstorming could be done.  Just please no more precious metals followed by the name coin.  That's been done to death.

I checked and at least 3 of the stores on the first page still take Bottlecaps.  The big problem is, after we had our problems (Which now seem nicely resolved), we haven't had any cheerleaders pushing to get Bottlecaps back in the forefront.  We need to have someone that has an association with the Coingas/sextoy store to get our coin back up there.  I know I need to start offering more cards on my Apocalypse Pete's site so I can start moving some coins.

Who knows if we have a decent programmer in the crowd.  I have heard it is possible to Merge mine scrypt coins, just like it is possible to do it with SHA-256 coins.  Would be cool if we became the first coin to Merge mine with Litecoin.  I have been currently suggesting to my LTC pool that is going to be offering Multi-pools shortly (I hope) to add Bottlecaps to list.

Anyways, I will try to think of a few names to add to the pot.  Lol, who knows maybe POGS.  LOL, or maybe something off the wall like Beans.  Since you have bean counters, Store a hill of beans, Beans grow over time, and the are environmentally friendly, like the PoS part of Bottlecaps.  But that is the tiredness talking.  I will see if I can thing of a few more names that might work a lot better.
327  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: November 07, 2013, 03:12:11 PM
It could be your follower IXC2XIC who has stated he is going deep into your idea that IxCoin is going to be the next BTC.

Why would you have just 1 copy of your wallet?  And why would you think putting the wallet on a friends laptop would give you quicker access than putting it on 1 or multiple USB keys, you could pop it into any computer on earth and have access to your wallet.

For right now, I can't diagnose the problem, since I can't see the computer.  You state that the computer won't even go the BIOS.  This would make it look like a Systemboard in my quick diagnosis, which would be your best case scenerio.  You can pop the HDD out of a laptop usually really easily.  Then you can connect it to a different computer and taadaa you have your files.  If it's the HDD itself, which could possibly be the case if it just doesn't boot. Then you are possibly screwed.  Expecially if you hear the death beat  (spinning up and down and can hear the heads chattering, or worse flying around inside.).  If this is the case, you can send the HDD away to a company that can remove data off damaged drives, but the price for the service is usually in the $5000 - $10,000 range, so it probabaly wouldn't be worth it.

And since your only dealing with approx $6000 worth of coins, I would say take it to someplace like Best Buy.  Sure they aren't the best place in the world, and there are many mom and pop shops where the techs are more knowledgable.  But what they do have is a multi-billion dollar business, and if one of their employees was to steal your wallet, they should take care of it.
328  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: November 06, 2013, 11:23:14 PM
Vlad, you might want to re-check what LTC is doing price wise.  Even though BTC is rising very quickly, LTC has been rising at an even quicker pace percentage wise.  Scrypt isn't dead yet.
329  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: November 06, 2013, 09:33:05 PM
If nothing else Vlad, it's a good lesson on why people tend to not trust "devs" that launch a coin and premine it.  Even the really old and established coins, where the "dev" has been around for years can just sit on the premine and hope someone develops the coin for him.  Unless your an actual software programmer, and are going to put the time and effort into your coin, it's just not worth getting into.

And just looking for your economist insight here.  Either for a laugh, or to learn something.  Why do you conclude the Gov't and banks have the most to gain by a cryptocurrency taking off?  As I can't see anything aside from having more money to buy in early to sell for a profit.  I must be missing something.
330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Bottlecaps v1.5.2 Just Released Checkpoint Node New Wallet Design! Please Update on: November 06, 2013, 03:51:42 PM
Personally I think the name Bottlecaps should stay.  It's something that makes the name special, as every other alt out there is named after something expensive with the name Coin after it, or something really stupid.  I really doubt people looking to invest will say  "wow there is Plutonium coin, selling next to Emerald Coin, Gold Coin, Diamond Coin, Titanium Coin and Ruby coin, looks like a great investment.  Bottlecaps sticks out from the long line of other names, and has some following behind it.

A name change isn't going to fix the coin.  Getting on some sales promotions, or other ways of using the coin is what will drive the price up.  Right now we have fallen off a few websites becuase of the forking problem/the problem with our Block explorers compared to other coins, and the lack of people driving to get them listed again.  We also need to work at building relations with a few of those venders (like the Steam games or sextoy sales site)  and get them to take the coins again.

I myself am going to try to find a few more types of Card codes I can sell via my Apocalypse Pete's webstore, to get some Bottlecaps flowing.  Was thinking maybe Facebook cards, Karmacoin cards, Android cards, and a few others that I can find that will be accepted in the US, as my iTunes idea failed miserably, since they can only be used in Canada from what I have found out.
331  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: cryptocurrencies - soft to switch between the most preferred profitable on: November 02, 2013, 04:46:01 PM
There are already Multi-pools that do that for you, so not sure.  Personally I never use them, or this type of software as I think all it does is totally mess up the hashrate, leaving some coins with a high difficulty, that once the masses auto-flee to the next coin to pop up in value, it almost auto-kills them, since the next blocks will be almost impossible to find with 1/100th of the hash rate.

I guess unless your goal is to destroy alt coins, then by all means go ahead.
332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: litecoin pool mining w/ cgminer problems on: October 31, 2013, 02:47:16 PM
Get rid of the "C:\cgminer-3.5.1> from the batch file, and run the batch file from the same directory as your cgminer.  Hopefully that works for you.
333  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: October 30, 2013, 03:05:57 PM
Vlad, being new you should know to research alot more before dumping thousands into something you have no idea about.  Who knows maybe it will turn around and you will get your money out.

Next time instead of believing coin markets are based on merged mining, or of a certain coin type  (SHA-256 vs Scrypt), look more into what merchants are using the coin, and where the demand is.  I know you believe LTC is a dead currency, because it isn't merge mined with BTC.  It does and will take a hit for the next few years whenever BTC goes up because a majority of the current miners are ex-BTC GPU miners that are only there to sell their coins off.  But there are alot of merchants starting to take LTC.  I can't say I ever saw a merchant taking IXC.  These are the things you need to bank on when picking your next coin to buy up.  Which coin you believe will begin to be taken by a number of merchants.

I believe that possibly a bunch of IXCoin miners didn't really pay much attention to their IXCoin wallets, as they were the dust of their BTC minings.  Once the price of BTC went up, they were probably looking for some additional funds to buy more BTC, and noticed the pile of IXC they had accumulated, so they sold it off.  That's the problem with dead'ish coins like IXC.  It may seem like people are hoarding, when in reality with no place to spend the coins they just sit and accumulate.
334  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What altcoins do u hold? on: October 29, 2013, 06:58:38 PM
LTC, CAPS, CGB, MEC, Federation Credits (Just so I can tell my trekkie friends), DGC and a few others.
335  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: best LTC pool now? on: October 29, 2013, 02:18:41 PM
If you want the pool with the nicest layout for their site, that gives away prices like LTC, and even occasionally Video cards, and other things check out the pool I am in Netcode Pool.  It's at http://www.netcodepool.org/.  The only problem is the pool is pretty small, so payouts aren't as frequent, but you get a much larger payout, so it equals out.  I also occasionally mine at WemineLTC, but have noticed usually I come out with more coins mining to Netcodepool.  Not sure why though.
336  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: -- Miner's Official Coin LAUNCH - NUGGETS (NUGs) -- on: October 28, 2013, 06:40:57 PM
I personally think having no ASIC's available for Scrypt coins is what will keep them going.  But I will agree to disagree with you on that one.  Smiley  Guess time will tell.
337  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: -- Miner's Official Coin LAUNCH - NUGGETS (NUGs) -- on: October 28, 2013, 06:15:41 PM
Just wondering what your logic is in saying most alts will be killed if BTC hits $1000?  If anything, I think it would add more alts, since they would see there is money and interest in Cryptocurrencies.  Also wondering why you beleive Scrypt coins will be destroyed if BTC hits $1000.
338  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: -- The Riddle of the father and son - Who Was, is and Will Rule the World! on: October 27, 2013, 07:56:02 AM
First question, who would mine it, or why would they mine it?  The thing everyone wants with BTC, is for the masses to arrive, then start using satoshi's as the currency, and for each BTC to be worth millions.  The BTC followers aren't going to dump everything they had (and all their possible profits), and jump to a coin with all the coins already mined, and where I am guessing your conspiracy will say the US Gov't will own all the coins of this new Crypto, and sell them???  Lol, it's not going to happen.  And they would be seen not as a brave new Cryptocurrency, but as an extension of the US dollar, since the US Gov't would be backing it as your theory states.

And this "Clone" currency, would be in fact no different then any other Altcoin, aside from the parameters not being changed and 100% pre-mine.  Lol, I think you know how people react to even a 1% premine.

And lastly, BTC isn't as stable and without flaws as you seem to believe.  It did go of the rails for a short time at least once, splitting into 2 forks.  Luckily 1 fork did take over the network again, but it's not unbreakable as you indicate.
339  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: -- The Riddle of the father and son - Who Was, is and Will Rule the World! on: October 27, 2013, 03:40:53 AM
Why would someone make an exact clone of Bitcoin, just with a name change, and why would everyone jump on it, and forget BTC all together?

Lol, your predictions keep getting stranger and stranger.
340  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: -- The Riddle of the father and son - Who Was, is and Will Rule the World! on: October 25, 2013, 03:21:11 PM
Lol, I thought you just made those symbols up to throw people off the riddle.  I just made that all up when I figured, let's think like Vlad for a few minutes.  Lol, it was very scary.
