321  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: BTC REWARD FOR HELP --- BAMT boot issue, machine freezes after trying to boot on: May 25, 2012, 01:03:26 AM
Looks like BAMT .img requires the basic format that comes with the Flash media when you bought it, which I believe is FAT32.
Integrity check to see if the file you downloaded is corrupted, md5sum or sha256sum.
Since BAMT is Debian, depending on version, it may have issues with some hardware/motherboards, acting all buggy and stuff. Check the Hardware Compatability List to make sure you have supported HW. This is a Debian issue, Ubuntu or Lubuntu or Xubuntu has a much broader user base to report and take care of bugs. Debian itself is server/niche kinda, so finding buggy things takes them a little longer.
322  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: P2Pool Server List on: May 25, 2012, 12:52:34 AM
If you mine with JayCoin's P2Pmining.com add one of the pools in the OP list as a backup. Grin
That way if his server is down at all, you can still p2pool.

Looks like it's down again.  Cry
Crap how do i find an alternate. Oh yeah, P2Pool Server List in my sig. Cheesy
324  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: BTC REWARD FOR HELP --- BAMT boot issue, machine freezes after trying to boot on: May 24, 2012, 11:10:38 PM
Did you try wiping the flash drive first?

Code:
$ dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sd<USB letter> bs=4K conv=notrunk

Then you need to format depending on which is needed for the OS flashing, FAT or ext3.

2) I want to know why I have only been getting ~350mhs on my bitforce single

Its properly mining off your graphic card, not your bit force. Check MSI after burner
report the GPU mining percentage its properly topping at 99%.
It will say error, error and mine your GPU, from the wrong settings.
I tested it it does that.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My Guide

Throw the below into a bat file, double click the bat-file and run. This worked for me.

Create an account on http://mmpool.bitparking.com/pool
It currently offers 5 currencies of mining, them sell them on
https://www.vircurex.com/main/index

Every 4K i0coins sell for 1 BTC, for about 140 namecoins you get 1 BTC.
Every 4K ixcoin sell for 1 BTC.

Add all this above it has the best possible rates of any exchange online.

--scan-serial|-S
This will scan for the Device you got.

EXAMPLE MY CODE

cd %1

cgminer.exe -o http://mmpool.bitparking.com:15098 -u lightlord1233NA -p anything -I 9 --gpu-engine 1175 --gpu-memdiff 150 -w 64 -v 1 -g 2 -k poclbm

For Linux you will need to use Shell programming which is the equivalents of . bat,
And the sign for same directory, a cd %1 equivalents.

Steps
1) Create an account, use the deposit addresses off https://www.vircurex.com/main/index They never change.
2) Create an account on http://mmpool.bitparking.com/pool using despoit addresses off vircurex.com
3) Create a text file.

4). Find the serial port numbers from the Device Manager - devmgmt.msc. Should be COMxx where the xx is one or 2 numbers.
5) Batch file in the Startup folder with this: The folder for your cgminer,
mine was C:\Users\David\Desktop\Bitcoin Applications\Cgminer\cgminer-2.4.1-win32\
Create a bat file in the root folder of that in that root folder is where cgminer is located.
Code:

cd %1

cgminer.exe -S \\.\COMxx -S \\.\COMxx -o http://mmpool.bitparking.com:15098 -u username -p anything -I8

(anything is the password)

Note: *\\.\* Stays there, there isn't anything special after that.

6)Double click the bat file, it will auto Run. You can remove -G and have GPU and bit force running I believe.
WTF, How will this guide help him if he's running Linux?

There goes the efficiency.  Cry

Put the drivers on a thumb drive and install 11.12 before letting Windows connect to the internet, otherwise it will download AMD drivers from Microsoft Update and you'll be on something later than what you want.
I had a laptop with Vista using a custom ATI driver because the one Windows was installing kept screwing up the display, the latest update. After I installed the custom driver, Windows still tried to update to the latest and I had to disable the ATI driver install option in the update manager after I turned off auto updates. I did a lot of wiping and reinstalling.

Well, a quick way to check if it's a hardware or software issue is to try starting it up with BAMT or Xubuntu 12.04.  Both are pretty fast to get up and mining from a downloaded image, BAMT can be up and going in about 5 minutes if you are familiar with it, Xubuntu takes a bit longer.
12.04 or 11.04? I vote 11.04 because most of the guides around here are based on that version of Linux. I haven't seen a guide yet on 12.04. Are the Kernels different? But yeah, build a Linux based flash drive for just such emergencies, will help in diagnosing (and maybe turn you on to linux full time). Cheesy  Kano's guide is pretty fool proof for USB creation.
If you don't like Kano's guide there are more here: How To's and Guides Mega List Grin

It sounds a lot like a power issue, the draw is too much. Try keeping the memory clocks lowered but don't overclock the cards and see how that works. Windows ACPI drivers are hidden from the kernel and they monitor the hardware, and then talk to the kernel as needed. I'm not sure if you can turn off the ACPI in Windows. (ACPI driver is a Genuine Windows rootkit. Cheesy )

Updated.

You might want to put a <div> with a 1px or 2px border on that batch script instead of text quotation marks. It will make the toot a little more readable. Wink

330  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: My video cards + Linux on: May 24, 2012, 07:20:16 AM
I get :

ERROR - Get temperature failed for adapter 0 - AMD Radeon HD 7700 series
ERROR - Get temperature failed for adapter 1 - AMD Radeon HD 7700 series

Did you do:

Code:
sudo aticonfig --adapter=all --initial -f

Sometimes the error appears because the xorg.conf isn't built right or not at all.
'-f' is force, if you omit it, sometimes xorg.conf won't be built properly.

Also, did you reboot after you --initial -f the aticonfig step? Reboots are a requirement for many steps.
For instance, after you install the CCC driver, reboot, then install SDK, reboot, set aticonfig, reboot, then check --odgt. Wink
These reboots are required because changes are being made to the kernel and kernel code won't be running without a reboot.
331  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator [v0.17] on: May 24, 2012, 05:47:20 AM
I got everything running. I must have installed SDK v2.4 incorrectly, maybe skipped a step. Re-installation fixed the issue.
./oclvanitygen produced 25 Mkeys/s on the GPU. Thats like 200x more key searches than on my CPU.  Shocked  Cool
It took about 8 hours to find 1+6 '1abcdef'. How much longer would it take to find 1+7 or 1+8?
332  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: ATI Stream SDK v2.1 on: May 23, 2012, 01:11:16 PM
I went back to AMD SDK v2.4 and now I'm having trouble with this.

Code:
Error -1001: clGetPlatformIDs failed (no OpenCL SDK installed?)

In my AMD-APP-SDK-v2.4-lnx64 directory I have :

Code:
/lib/x86_64$ ls
libamdocl64.so  libGLEW.so libglut.so  libOpenCL.so  libOpenCL.so.1

The procedure I used to install 2.4 is in OP. I'll walk through the procedure again and see what happens. :shrugs:

Edit: Reinstalled and all is working goooood. whew!

Now I just have to learn to install ATI Stream v2.1 properly.

The only (<market>.scid) files available are the ones I specified in the command line above. There are no other .scid files. You are saying other markets should be available to choose, I'm not sure what's wrong?
334  Other / Politics & Society / Re: BlackLight Power announces validation of its scientific breakthrough in energy on: May 23, 2012, 09:16:01 AM
Three possibilities:
1) This is a net-gain fusion reactor, which is impossible because the described process has nothing to do with nuclear fusion, or anything else even remotely plausible (the "theory" of hydrinos has been repeatedly debunked as pseudoscientific nonsense).
2) The first law of thermodynamics has been broken, which is especially impossible.
3) This is a hoax, just like Brown's gas and similar "discoveries".

My money's on number 3. Roll Eyes

Brown's Gas a hoax? Since when?

This HHO Gas melts tungsten 13000 degrees in a very short time.

I hadn't thought of including pay-for material in the list.  Undecided
337  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator [v0.17] on: May 23, 2012, 08:25:28 AM
Attempting to run oclvanitygen I received this error:

Code:
clGetPlatformIDs(0): Unknown code -1001
clGetPlatformIDs(0): Unknown code -1001

With SDK 2.1 oclvanitygen didn't give me a problem running, but with SDK 2.4 I get the above message.

339  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Strange Network Manager on: May 23, 2012, 02:18:51 AM
My old install was comp1 with ip 192.168.1.5 and my new install is comp2 requesting ip 192.168.1.5, so the router thinks someone already is using the address and DHCP won't give me that address for access.
So I have to either use a differnet address or renew the lease in the router.

Thanks psy
