Regarding upcoming Bitcoin forks

TL;DR: YOLOdice will NOT support any other Bitcoin forks, unless announced otherwise.

In the past months we supported two Bitcoin forks, namely Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin Gold, believing that these forks might bring something new to the crypto world. Well, we actually saw they were mainly for-profit, highly speculative and unstable projects, but we decided to credit our users with tokens in forked chains. Both of these forks were challenging for us because we had to securely move the coins from the cold wallet without compromising our security, and distribute the coins among players and investors that held balance on the day of the fork. Kiritsugu knows how much time we spent on these issues.

After the (moderate) success of BCH and BTG forks, it seems that the fork-eldorado has started. There at least 10 other forks going on now or planned, most of them look like scam to us, with enormous amount of pre-mined coins. We cannot fairly look if there are any forks that would bring any significant value to the table. They mostly look like a way for fork  developers to get rich pretty much instantly.

Bitcoin Cash had quality issues with it's codebase, Bitcoin Gold started by advertizing features they did not even have. The forks I looked up now don't have much more than a website full of marketing bullshit.

Thefore me and Scott decided we will not support the upcoming forks. We will not snapshot user balances and we will not credit users with tokens in the forked coins. Honestly I think these new forks will simply fail miserably.

I am far from calling all forks a "scam" because I'd need to look closer at every single fork. But from what I see - the success of BCH and BTG inspired a lot of people looking for quick profit.

A word of warning: I advise ultra-awareness when dealing with anything related to "forks".

BTW: The fork called Segwit2x has NOTHING to do with the previously proposed Segwit2x - if you think this is the same thing and the same developers, you are deeply wrong.

Instead we keep working on YOLOdice to support well-established coins like Litecoin (coming mid-January) and probably other coins soon. If you want to suggest us a new coin, please do. I am personally considering Monero or Ethereum. YOLOdice is our top-priority project we want to devote to in 100% and we want to keep it this way, instead of fixing and finding issues with wallet codes.

Cheers,
Ethan

i want to ask why the fuck you mentioned 0 confirmations ?≤ 0.2 BTC   0 confirmations(*) its mentioned on FAQ'S also there tag line on front of the page .
so fucker admin change this slogan or change the rule .
i'm waiting from 72 hours .don't pull this shit that blockchain is full and bla bla...else i will open a scam accusation against you .
you are fooling people

We are using several metrics to determine if a deposit can be credited without being confirmed in the blockchain. As Kiritsugu said, we are doing our best, but with the current average network fees and the number of unconfirmed txes out there  only a small percentage of deposits are accepted automatically.

0-confirmation deposits were never guarenteed, but at the times when mempool is not that overloaded it works pretty well, given the transaction has decent fees and propagates well across the network.

Cheers!

It's hard for me to realize we've been online for a year now. It passed so quickly! But I am really glad we made it and what we achieved in this year is just awesome.

Running a Bitcoin dice site has been much harder than I thought, but it's been a great experience. I am really, really glad we decided to build YOLOdice and make it our full-time "job".

A big "THANK YOU" to all our players, investors, friends, supporteds, moderators, bug-hunters - it's been a pleasure.

We have great plans for the upcoming months and we definitely want to keep making YD a higly-trusted Bitcoin site!

Cheers!

Per-post rates update

Hi there,

first, thanks for sticking with our campaign! Some of you are with us for almost a year now. I think the campaign is a really succesfull one and I am happy we started it.

I've been keeping the same rated from the very beginning of the signature campaigh - despite the increasing BTC/USD price I wanted to keep the per-post rates unchanged. Recently however BTC/USD is skyrocketing and I have to adjust the rates.

User rank Paid per post
Legendary    0.0007 BTC -> 0.00035 BTC
Hero    0.0007 BTC -> 0.00035 BTC
Sr Member    0.0005 BTC -> 0.00025 BTC
Full Member    0.0003 BTC -> 0.00015 BTC
Member    0.0001 BTC -> 0.00005 BTC

All the other rules remain unchanged.

New rates will become effective next weekly cycle (Mon, 11. Dec), your upcoming payouts (for this week) will be based on old rates.

Thanks and cheers!

Agree with you there RGBKey! Grin

The fees are way to high.
When just on 0.001btc you are paying 0.00015btc in fees for batch and 0.0004btc for instant?

It is way too high to be still having these fees attached to a withdrawal.

Other sites are doing 8000 satoshi withdrawals and another site is doing no fees at all.

So something needs to be reviewed because people are not going to be wanting to do any withdrawals if the fees aren't lowered.
They will just claim the faucet and just keep it on site. Cheesy

I guess some sites are subsidizing the withdrawals. We are not. We try to pay minimum required network fee for the transaction to be included in the next block, and what we charge as a "flat withdrawal fee" is the average fee.

If any way to pay lower fees appears for BTC we'll look at this. Right now there is no Lightning Network, so it's hard to say if we'll support it or not. I guess we will, but I cannot promise that right now.

One thing for sure, we'll support other coins (likt LTC). With other coins the network fees are negligible so I guess it would somehow solve the problem for at least some players.

Cheers,
Ethan

Hi everyone!

There are some important changes coming to the leveling system that will hopefully make the sistem independent of the crazy BTC/USD price.

Anyway, I pushed a few important changes today which may (or might not) affect your accounts:

1. You can get XP (eXperience Points) from the people that follow you. This is still true, but from now on followers that wagered 0.0001 BTC or less do not pass any XP. Earlier even players with nothing wagered passed minimal amounts of XP and we found users that were creating thousands of user accounts to take advantage of this fact.

2. I have reduced faucet amounts for the low-level accounts. The amounts were set when BTC/USD was way lower than it is now and we had to make these amounts a bit more reasonable again.

Cheers,
Ethan

I do like yolodice and how they operate and treat their customers.
But I am wondering about the announcement of letting players bet using a different currency other than bitcoin on the site.
This was mentioned a couple of months ago and said it would be implemented soon.
Any update on this admin/moderators of yolodice?

Thanks.

Love the site by the way. Alot of things have changed over the course of the past year it has been in operation.

Any celebration in the works for the one year old birthday?  Undecided

AFAIK the LTC integration is still being worked on, if I were to guess I would say that things like BCH and BTG distribution have caused it to be pushed back. I wouldn't worry about it not being implemented, it's being worked on still. And I'm sure somebody will do something about the birthday, if nobody else will, maybe I'll do a giveaway or two in chat.
^This is accurate.  Due to the BCH and BTG forks, Ethan spent a lot of time trying to get things organized so people could collect their forked coins hassle-free, which resulted in some delays with the LTC integration, but it is definitely still being worked on.

I can't give you any specifics yet, as we're still working out some things, but we do have something special planned for a YD anniversary / LTC integration complete event. Smiley

^^ This. Plus, the responsibility to keep ~700 BTC safe makes me go through each line of code I write several times to avoid errors.

Adding LTC is on it's way, it's true I thought it would take less time, but it became a mid-term project within YD. I've been working on several other improvements for YOLOdice, so we keep moving forward!

On the other hand I am glad we distributed BCH and BTG to our users, the amount of positive feedback is tremendous!

Cheers!

Two more things:

1. If you claim your BTG, please use a BTG address when talking to HAL. These addresses start with G or A letter. Some people entered their BTC addresses and I cannot make the withdrawal. If this happened to you, talk to HAL again and simply type:
Code:
btg YOUR_BTG_ADDRESS

2. The list of completed withdrawals is available at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18CKVk3Z237avleDfBSzbVYyxyNrUeE1Q3CF9nsZhxfQ/edit#gid=0. HAL will also give you this link, but if you forget it, this is where you can check if your transaction has been sent already and its TXID.

Wahou... I mean 99% of websites letting you online coins don't let you get the coins from forks when there is one, that's impressively honest from you!

Are you planning on doing the same thing every time a fork appears?
Cause that would be a new argument for investing in yolodice!!!

There have been 2 forks recently and we distributed coins from these 2 forks. I guess if anything serious happens in the future and there are no technical issues - yes, we'll be sending out coins. But we'll announce this ahead each time.

Thank you for all warm comments! We try to do our best here and it's really nice you appreciate the work we do! Thanks!

Cheers,
Ethan

thanks, got my bitcoin gold quick and easy Smiley

much appreciated

Thanks for trusting us!

Bittrex lets you withdraw cryptocurrency up to 0.4 bitcoins worth a day after basic verification
basic verification is your name, surname and phone number, you will have to enter a code from the SMS they send
after that you can withdraw cryptocurrencies without any problem
if you want to enable margin trading or fiat withdrawals, you will be asked to send them docs copies and a selfie
BTG is being traded at 0.03 now, with HUGE amounts being sold and the price going down as we speak

Last time I sold most of my BCH at HitBTC - they did not require any kind of account verification and everything worked fine. At HitBTC the price was significantly lower at the beging (both when BCH launched and when BTG launched) because HitBTC was one of the first exchanches that allowed deposits of the new coin.

This time I will probably hold BTG hoping it will gain some (purely speculative) value. I also believe this is the expectation of most traders after seing how BCH behaved, so BTG might be pumped even more.

Ethan

Ultimate guide to claiming your Bitcoin Gold from YOLOdice
Yep, we are sending BTG to our users

Every user that held any BTC balance over 0.0001 BTC on 24 Sep 2017 (when the BTG split occured) has been given extra BTG coins (1 BTC = 1 BTG). By "balance" I mean the Bitcoin balance and the value of investments.

We don't support BTG in YOLOdice (you cannot play with it), but to be fair we can send them back to you.

1. Go to our chat: https://yolodice.com/#chat.

2. Type this to start a conversation with our bot HAL:
Code:
/pm 9
3. In a private conversation with HAL type this to check your BTG balance.
Code:
btg

If you have balance larger than the threshold of 0.0001 BTG, HAL will tell you what to do next.

We send BTG manually (once a day) and HAL will give you a link where you can check if your withdrawal has been processed.

As always, beware of scam sites that can steal your money - always be careful. Before you deposit your coins to a 3rd party, check it the service is credible.

Deadline for claiming your BTG is 31 December 2017! It's a lot of time, but don't postpone it!

That's all! Cheers and good luck!
Ethan

So glad that you're handling this for us Ethan, very much appreciated by me and I'm sure many others.

I have sent the first batch of BTG to those that claimed it already. I will try to email everyone that had balances on YD at the time of the fork.

Good thing is that BTG/BTC exchange rate increased a bit since yesterday, I was tempted to sell all my BTG at once, I am glad I did not do it :-)

Bitcoin Gold distribution

We are almost ready to distribut BTG coins to people that held Bitcoin blanace on 24 October. This time our bot, HAL, will handle some of the work.

I think we'll be ready to start distributing coins later this week, but you can already tell us to which address you want us to send your coins. To do this simply:

1. Go to our chat: https://yolodice.com/#chat
2. Type this to start a conversation with our bot HAL:
Code:
/pm 9
3. In a private conversation with HAL type this to check your BTG balance. HAL will tell you what to do next:
Code:
btg

That's all. I will post more details about the distribution once we are ready to actually send the coins.

Cheers!
Ethan

That is great.

However users should be warned that the wallet listed on BTGGPU website MyBTGWallet is a scam and has stolen millions of dollars worth of BTC, ETH,BCC and BTG due to asking users for their private key and seeds.

The wallet might be removed now from the main website but people can still find links to it from various places.

Cryptocurrency users should ALWAYS be careful when using ANY software. You are definitely right. Do you think we should add a warning of some sort to what HAL says?

UPDATE: We are almost ready to start sending BTG coins. I have succesfully moved coins out of cold wallet. Wait for more info tomorrow. Cheers!

The fees went crazy for a while - some miners moved their hashpower to Bitcoin Cash. Hopefully this will not happen often. We had tons of unconfirmed deposits and withdrawals during the weekend.

The situation is back to normal now, almost all withdrawals have been processed. We still have larger-than-usual number of unconfirmed deposits, but hopefully the mempool is being cleaned up.

I've added a command to AM to report Bitcoin Core's estimated fee on transactions. Use it like !fee [numblocks]

For example, to see what fee you should use for confirmation within the hour:
Code:
!fee 6
Estimated fee to be confirmed in 6 blocks is 281 sat/byte

Hi,

well, it's probably not the place to discuss fee evaluation methods, but actually simpler methods work much better for reliable fee estimation. Check this out, this is IMHO how the fees should be calculated in the reference wallet: https://btc.com/stats/unconfirmed-tx

Cheers,
Ethan
