Just got an e-mail back, quote :
"Because the hack occurred neraly 2 weeks ago and the public announcement was only made now?"

This makes no sense, why did TF let people use a COMPROMISED wallet for two more weeks?

Why its now public and not before 2 weeks?Huh  Angry

Since Boelens have decided to only selectively pick responses, after the 4K btc compromise I cloned the disk image as soon as I could (after disbelieving and in horrendous shock), investigated the scope of the breach, regenerated all credentials, and have been exploring any options that allows Inputs users to not lose any money.

You never told me this. All you said was that it was re secured and thus you announced it now.

If 4100 BTC were stolen, which address were they sent to?

Publish the blockchain info for the stolen coins, otherwise it's safe to assume there were no stolen coins.

Here you go.

http://blockchain.info/tx/9536feebe3a50b94f85ca27d56e669a7209bd4188385d55c5b97227c95cf7f74

The stolen coins are still unspent in https://blockchain.info/address/1EMztWbGCBBrUAHquVeNjWpJKcB8gBzAFx

Wait, that transaction was made two weeks ago, 23 November, so they were stolen long before.

Uh, bro, we can buy block erupters for what, 0.025-0.03 BTC now?

Not quite. I think if you have one of those coupons their 0.1-0.15 BTC, and the regular price is 0.3 BTC. However, because the price basically doubled+ 0.03 could be accurate, thinking about it.

Ok well I won't borrow it to pay off the Giveaway but I could really use the 0.25 Bitcoin loan still as I'd like to do some trading at the nice price increases we've been seeing  Cheesy

I can pay %50 interest on or before November 20th 2013 and I understand the risk and will repay in full regardless if I lose or not  Cheesy

Hello,
we were having some doubtful thoughts on your loan request, and I made the final call to deny it due to it being fairly high risk in my opinion. Good luck!
329  Economy / Lending / Re: Boelens and Bitcoininformation's micro-(ish)loans. on: November 06, 2013, 11:29:12 AM
Why start a thread that most likely primarily is attracting scammers? There are plenty of people on this site looking for a loan. And I'm not talking new members. Seek them out instead of being a magnet for scammers, cause I just looked through this thread and its literally a who's who of em (scammers).

Because we do get legitemate loans, and it's easier for people to apply somewhere for people who are ready to loan usually within 24 hours, than having to make a new topic.

I would like to please borrow 0.25 Bitcoin to help pay down 1/3rd of the entries in my Giveaway

I can pay %50 interest on or before November 20th 2013

Will discuss this with bitcoininformation when I'm back. (~2-3hours)

A full update will be posted soon, don't panic. Only people with the API key enabled was compromised (and will be reimbursed), passwords are securely stored one way in the database.

Security is obviously the most important thing to a Bitcoin wallet, and it's unfortunate that a compromise occurred, and we're learning a lot from it (things that pentests won't catch).

There will be a full update soon, but this compromise was not through a fault of the code but rather like a 'side channel' attack.

Glad to hear you're resolving it so quickly. Can you check if anything was lost my faucet account? (admin@domesticpineapple.com), and I think it might but I get so many cashouts it's a pain to go through.

I think a deposit I made to admin@domesticpineapple.com didn't go through -- it never showed up and never showed up in unconfirmed either, I think. Is there a way to check all the amounts that went to the wallet?

What country are your servers hosted on?
What is the general loading time of a page? Is it still fast if there are say, hundreds of visitors on at the same time?

Does this mean you're giving 0.05 BTC to every fastest coin on every race, or do you have to be fastest on all races?

OK, have him send me (signed) the email address I should use for the account. He can then use the forgotten password feature.

Theymos, I believe you own this website.

As new users, do we have to worry about account security? Why are individual accounts being hacked?

What purpose would it serve to hack user accounts of an online forum?

Thank you.

- Safvan Malik

The forum database wasn't compromised. There was a site he owned and that database got compromised, his password probably got compromised too, maybe from the database, a virus, etc. But none of it was due to a security leak in the forums.
