I get it. I get it. "Who are you, who are so wise in the ways of science?"

Anyways... Halong is obviously not the best in the art of product pre-launch marketing and PR. You've definitely got that part right. It's difficult to orchestrate all the moving parts and people involved.

Well, on a side note ..the whole argument on existence is now moot...it is NOT worth getting at the prices I suspect they will ask for this product ..even it if is not a scam

too little, too late .....especially with Bitmain

so, they waited too long and likely will only find profit if such equipment exists mining it themselves....no frigging way does it make sense to market it out to folk like us

at this point IMHO view, even if they only are selling them in lots of 5 or so

so again, we are arguing about a duck that has already been cooked/eaten and discarded....

the boat has sailed on this getting off the ground at a price as a consumer product at this point in my view...even if all my concerns were met today

so even if they announce this week...the whole thing will get a big ho hum......at the prices I'd expect

3282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [$XVG] VERGE [POW][MultiAlgo][BLACKHOLE][Entire Line of TOR/i2P Resources] on: December 27, 2017, 04:42:52 AM

well I found out that the .dat file from electrum xvg 2.41 or whatever ...is not compatible with windows verge wallet version (non-electrum) 3.0

so back to the drawing board and watch electrum 2.41 xvg or whatever ...NOT synch for days at a time

solutions anyone...or is my coin just gonna stay in limbo because these old wallets will never synch up

i have the date unverified on my coin there...and thou it seems to synch some to get the coins to show..mostly the network is in off mode

solutions? or is this my lot in life wander the forums for years while my old electrum wallet for verge updates and synchs to noplace?

Try to connect here: 46.163.118.201
It works for me

I've used yours before and have a bunch....it synchs for awhile then lags out...i have a date unverified by all my coins which I assume means the wallet is not synched

been up continuous for 3 days...goes no place.....but again used yours above and the following.. settings and got no place

Electrum 2.41-Verge

autoconnect box unchecked

Active Servers

45.163.118.201
83.169.38.218
electrum-xvg.party
electrum-xvg.stream
gozwhpes24mi2bk7.onion
gz6phufyqjexudq6.onion
t4c6rftkx673mlqv.onion

unchecked SSL box

SOCKS5         127.0.0.1        9150

so I'm utterly flummoxed

unless there is an electrum 3.0 wallet I can move my wallet dat file to...the windows desktop NON electrum wallet won't take my dat backup files

again screwed

thanks for the help...at least I am providing some amusement on this thread

Ok I have the old electrum 2.41 wallet that won't synch after 3 days..it does show my meager coin in the wallet there (which I have made backups)

I have just installed the new windows version (not electrum) wallet 3.0

how/where do I swap my backup wallet that shows coin electrum 2.41 (old) to this new windows verge version 3.0 (not electrum) wallet to

what dir and do I change the name?

I see only an export function on the verge 3.0 wallet ..no way to import a wallet dat file

thanks

I will refrain from name calling and cursing. But, you dudes will be really embarrassed with all your naysaying.

Well, you sir, if such a product exists, should be ashamed of all your attempts to make it look like a scam.....I mean, talk about a lame way to launch a product!

tough to have 'duck like' qualities and not be called a 'duck' Smiley

3287  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: December 27, 2017, 01:13:51 AM
Please just wait a couple more weeks. I promise very exciting news for the mining industry. Although the hashrate is only a few TH higher than the best on market offered by competitors  right now, there is a great surprise that hasn’t yet been revealed that will make all the waiting and angst worth the while. I know I’m just a noob here in this forum, but mark my words... you’ll shit your pants. An official announcement is coming soon. All your FUD will be but a distant memory and likewise, the biggest, most loved and hated manufacturer of miners currently on the market. All your FUD are belong to us! I’m not even telling you to go out and try to preorder right now. If you don’t believe, you won’t be first in line. And that’s ok.

LOL..such a Newbie shrill account post....classic

(Also looked at newbie poster profile of posts, he ONLY posts on stuff here in this manner.....seems obsessed, ya think?)

Below in the order of appearance from above quote.

1) please wait a couple more weeks

2) exciting news

3) best on market

4) great surprise

5) hasn't been revealed yet

6) coming soon!

7) first in line!

The above 7 were taken from the quoted posting above in the order in which they appeared above....notice how scammy it looks in my format?

NOW IF THIS DOES NOT JUST SCREAM SCAM...well nothing can convince you, and I will stop trying, because I too desire to live in your universe of tiny fairies and unicorn rainbows

and busting you bubble would be like kicking a kitten....so I will refrain.....(but for the rest of us...really?)

this is as you say likely a 'failed fork'

but supposedly, a buddy of mine said it was 'mineable' (yes it has NO relationship to bitcoin in any manner as an x11 coin..but still....)

so anyway, my failed D3 can mine this 'scam coin' for a bit I guess

weird as that may be ..being called Segwit/2 fork (x11 mineable)

maybe, I'm completely off on this.but what a buddy told me....

(am I really that desperate, for my D3 to mine something x11 of note...am I that shallow....er guess it is true.......) Sad

i feel you...
let's hope it will ease the dash network

Remember, I don't know what the f*ck I'm talking about...it is all supposition....but hey...with the D3's all I have is hope..at 1200 watts (at the wall)
..not gonna be a lot of slack come sometime in January of 2018 to keep these 'space heaters' up in the data hall

(then again, they probably could come home here and actually BE space heaters in the basement....hmm...)

frack..my life was frigging NORMAL before 2013 and I got into BTC and crypto....sh*t got weird...

edit: going by this...

At this time, I am out.

It has been to long since the "test" was announced and as everyone else already stated, this smells fishy to say the least

I thought someone on this thread says they got one of these (or tried to..if it is a scam) anyone? have a BTC address we can check/lurk/snoop?

My expectation of what happens to any money sent to these guys, well see below

sorry for your loss, hopefully, I am incorrect and no one sent any BTC to these clowns....

time to get out

Someday, this MAY be true...if so the experiment has failed....

Since, Oct 18th of 2013, when I got into crypto....this has NOT been the case...

flip a coin....that's the bet, works or it doesn't work....BTC or crypto in general..

myself, I mined my hoard....all ROI'd ...thus letting it ride is not a tough choice

$1 BTC to $100,000 BTC ....its all PROFIT ....at least from an 'ego' point of view...

besides, any sale the IRS and the state here gets 1/2 in the USA....on any sale of any note at my income

but whatever, its all a great sled ride...no one will know what is what until the end of that sled run.... good/bad

but, hey.... it has been a lot of fun, no matter the outcome ..be it boom or bust!

But, ducks in a row, it helps if you have your original investment out already, much easier to do this kind of

sledding up/down and around Smiley

3292  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: segwit2X soon? on: December 26, 2017, 03:01:36 PM
Hey! I missed it too and finally found that another team introduced Segwit2X 2.0 with new great features.
Yes, now it looks like it will happen. With the new team and new additional features.

Stop calling your worthless shitcoin SegWit2x.  It isn't SegWit2x.  You just stole the name.

SegWit2x was called that because it had a 2MB base and 6MB witness, total 8MB blockweight.  Your shitcoin has a 4MB base, so presumably 12MB witness and 16MB total blockweight?  Or do you not even know because there's nothing about that whatsoever on the website?  Then on top of the egregious increases to the size of blocks, you're also targetting a block speed of 2.5 minutes, meaning the total size of the entire blockchain could expand at never seen before speeds if people actually used this shitcoin.

And then, as the icing on the turd, the part where you think it's okay stealing coins from private keys that don't belong to you to encourage adoption of your shitcoin:

In addition, we will distribute a proportional number of "Bitcoins of Satoshi Nakamoto" to all those who support hardfork!

By “Bitcoin of Satoshi Nakamoto” we mean what the founder and chief developer of Bitcoin BTC mined at the time of zero network activity. They will be credited to the crypto-exchanges and wallets of our partners gradually. The list of partners will be constantly updated on our website! Even if Satoshi Nakamoto wants to get B2X for his pre-mining, he is not able to do this, as we blocked the initial blocks for conversion to Bitcoin Segwit2X.

It is worth noting that this present to users who supported us will be credited some time after the basic conversion 1:1

Go away with your wet-dream of a fork.  Anyone with an actual brain will be staying far, far away from it.

I agree with you completely! However, it is $560 on futures....I mean really, my BTC addresses are now virtual real estate land for FORKs piling on?

I'd sell the forked coin....but see bitcoin core doing NOTHING of note, on the transaction fees and lighting mods.....

the choice is getting stark.....pick bitcoin core and get no relief as they fiddle while Rome burns...(let them eat cake we only move at a snails pace)

no hard forks here ..the network can grind to a halt first ...but we have principles!

or listen to the Bitcoin Cash fork guys, who have some scaling with blockchain increase..but if the coding was a boat, I would not put my cat in it

all the while claiming it is better than anything ever invented!

FML...they are both gonna conspire, due to idiocy, and sink my frigging BTC of many forks.....

Why are u USING AN OLD VERSION OF THE WALLET?
I am using version 3.0 Windows Wallet Wraith protocol, it finally synced up, now I have to wait for Prohashing to pay me....

the only version 3.0 I see is the web wallet version and that shows zip in regards to if it is working as well...

thus why I'm sitting here

the main site only shows 2.41 for a desktop version....or I'm missing something obvious (likely)

3294  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will rise during the Christmas holidays on: December 26, 2017, 10:29:35 AM
Bitcoin will rise during the Christmas holidays, just like it did during Black Friday/ thanksgiving holiday. So hold your positions.
And I do not think so, people on holidays need money for gifts and a table to cover, so they will withdraw and hence the price will start to fall. So I think that everything will be the other way around.

I posted what you did previous in the thread...I could be wrong though..in 20/20 hindsight 15k btc rising...maybe folk are telling more folk about crypto at xmas
and it is like the thanksgiving pump

my relatives know about my crypto for 4 years now...thus I had a lot of folk say they were gonna check out coinbase...

we will see, but looking better then I thought I was expecting drama between 10k and 13k sideways for months

damn, I'd like to be dead wrong on this and have it at least go sideways for a few months at over 15k ...just to show the world it need not rise all the time to have 'legs'

3295  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are your plans with your Bitcoin? on: December 26, 2017, 10:23:27 AM
I have a revised short-term 4-year plan with the current ups/downs

I plan to retire in a month..have the means w/o crypto with crypto as a backstop even thou I plan to use little of it ..made no sense to wait..in that will still have lovely
the low-end lifestyle I have become accustomed to.....thus why the heck not?.....

1) get enough $$ to cover health insurance next 2.5 years until Medicare kicks in (assuming it still exists under trump)..just set it aside as combo/crypto/cash to pay out

2) mine enough this year to live off of yet...then bleed some small modest amount at the 'lovely low-end lifestyle I have become accustomed to' until full 66 retire age
then take soc security (again if it exists under trump) have enough outside investments to pull this off w/o touching much crypto hoard...the full soc sec will be the cherry
    on top

3) take out enough to fix the house up in the meantime and make a catastrophic fund of a combo of crypto/gold/cash...again in case of (likely) recession and trump..getting
my house together (I'm retiring as soon as I can..hopefully within the next month at 62 years) and just knocking around with stuff I need to do.....so can let the crypto
grow w/o too much of an issue on spending it down

seems prudent, trying to live within my means and have this crypto grow in the future yet...keep it all modest for a bit Smiley

So, best to keep with above modest expectations then watch the price/fud and the rest.....so going with the 'just in case it all goes tulips' play above...besides....I'm kinda

boring....best folk don't know what pulled the trigger for me to retire is crypto, even thou I don't need to use it on my above 'lowly lifestyle' best folk just think my 'backstop"

not to be used crypto funds...that got me off the fence to retire in the above manner ...are non-existent (thus keep driving the 2005 Taurus..that will act as a distraction

of any sense I have any extra $$$ at all from any source!...damn, that car is ugly!)

anyway my play, then again with Trump in office...money might be the least of my worries.....

how I'm keeping my head on straight...best to still think of this crypto as unicorn/tulip/fairy dust/magic/internet/geek/money......with all the ups/downs/sideways going on
and BCH and BTC and ALT and Gov't FUD etc

anyway, my play....I suppose they ever get an ETF I'll crack like a walnut..but till then...

I have the desktop wallet 2.41 for verge from the main site

I've had all my Verge show as unverified since Dec 25th (thou it does show on the wallet for proper amounts)

they all still show up unverifid under date...

so I think I have a sych issue

it will sync once in a while...even while showing green icon on tor etc....but never any real progress

here are the settings...that worked long enough to get the coin to show up in the wallet at least

Electrum-2.41-Verge Desktop Wallet

Tor Version (I assume)

I am using TOR Browser as front end for this to work

History Icon is greyed out....under date for coin it says unverified....then name of wallet address ..then amount of coin

obviously can't send any to test

I assume unverified means the wallet has not synced yet

thus befuddled

Wallet (supposedly) is backed up

asking on here.

thanks, you can post here for others or PM me...appreciate it

(damn, hard to tip someone or send coin back they sent me to test with ...if it never verifies)

Total coin is like 264...mined a bit ...then got cautious and stopped due to this never date verified issue

thanks for your help

lol @op. Don't go chasing his tweets. Chances are you'll be too slow and the exchange too laggy thus you'll lose.

Yep, what happened to Verge...locked up after he announced his enthusiasm.....but you killed if  you had some and a wallet and

moved guick

he is pumping the humaniq token now thru ETH network...that is up like 70% now...

sheesh, Trump as President and John McCaffe as Guru...we are all frigging doomed! (little green men, need a ride off this planet!)

3298  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Turning $50,000 into 1M in 365 days- Buy and Hold possible? on: December 25, 2017, 03:50:31 PM

As an aside, I have a buddy that did this with Verge coin, he was mining as a lark since this last summer. (helped he was a big miner).

He cashed out 1/2 for a cool million to BTC....the other half will get moved eventually for taxes ...)

I, of course, forgot about any such conversation on Verge...alas....another missed boat. (It's a frigging fleet I have of missed boats!)

Rare it is, but possible, usually with an alt pump.

Is tax that much high? This is crazy, if yes. Why should we pay one second of the money to the government? This is not fair, also. For the topic, if you really can find something like ADA, IOTA, VERGE, getting million dollars is easy.

40% fed tax at that level I think....also in a 10% income tax state...at least 50% ...if self-employed and mined he also may have (i think) soc sec taxes of 15%

fun times....( i need to meet a nice girl, in a country w/o capital gains and renounce citizenship and run for the border) I'd make a dandy 'house hubby' Smiley

3299  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I have 12 Bitcoin. What should I do??? on: December 25, 2017, 03:42:43 PM
Quote
Edit: I have changed almost all of my Bitcoin into Bitcoin Cash (scalability issues are becoming an increasing problem in Bitcoin and bigger block sizes seems like the way to go). Since making this post I have also increased my portfolio. Time to hodl. I think I will invest 20% of the rest of the Bitcoin that I have into altcoins.

I have 12 Bitcoins. I am not a whale. I started about 6 months ago with 0.01 Bitcoins and $1000. I turned it into 12 Bitcoins so far and am pretty proud to say the least.

My question is, what do I do now?

As far as I can see, I have 4 options;

1) Hold the Bitcoin

2) Invest in altcoins and leave a little in Bitcoin

3) Fund a project and start my own cryptocurrency that solves a problem that current currencies face (scalability, Tx fees etc.). With the funds, I would be able to assemble a team, start a marketing campaign, get listed on exchanges etc. I am also a programmer which helps.

4) Convert it to fiat (probably the dumbest idea)

Edit: I should also add, I dropped out of school and have all the time in the world so can fully commit to any idea. I will earn my living of cryptocurrencies.

A few people have asked how I made my money so, if you are interested, here is a short summary:

Initially, I put it all into Bitcoin during the massive FUD of the fork around June when Bitcoin dipped to $1,900. Then I put half my money into NEO before all of the hype at around $12 and cashed out at $40. Then I invested in a couple ICO's and turned a pretty good profit of off the hype. After that, I got back in on NEO as soon as China announced the regulations regarding ICO's and rode the wave back from around $20 to $40 (I can't quite remember). Then, I rode the hype of Ethereum Dark, eBitcoin and a few other airdrop scams. Finally, I got in on Wincoin before it got to coinmarketcap and turned a 20x profit.

Well, if it is not LIFE changing money...I"d HODL.

Imagine if you sold it say around July 2016 for $478 bucks or some such...you'd be a crying now....yeah you could lose the works..but which would make you feel worse?

(or my convoluted logic on all this) Smiley

3300  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: John McAfee Pump & Dump Group on: December 25, 2017, 03:37:32 PM
have a buddy that was mining Verge on a whim..and in the last month made a cool million bucks move to BTC on it

at the height ..good move in that it is down like 20% plus today (xmas day)

he still has a mess of it..HAS to pay tax on such but still 1/2 million in BTC after taxes is not too shabby...

.anyway, sometimes it is just luck (or John McCafee pumping a coin you hold on a whim) and money drops from the sky!

(somehow I missed out on him mentioning this long shot coin....Verge....alas..another boat missed) Smiley (I got a fleet of missed boats) Sad
