I use them. Never had a problem. If you think about the list of disallowed items, they do make sense as these are all atypical transactions.

Look around at the world we have created. None of this is sustainable.

I like your utopia OP, but where to put it? You say no taxes, but who owns the land and under what jurisdiction? Places without government are some of the scariest places I have ever been. No government would mean anyone who wanted to could just come and take it all. There is always authority and power. It may not be a government but someone is in control of every inch of this planet. Makes me wish I was a caveman.

Bitcoin is doomed and Satochi is cashing out. Be quick.
I concur! Add your obituary for Bitcoin here: http://bitcoinobituaries.com/Anyone have Satoshi's wallet address? Gots to trace that 1mill BTC dumping on the exchanges... Sayonara BTC, you've had a good 6 year ride! Just be the devils advocate for a moment. A lot is made of Satoshi's supposed millions, but no one really knows if he has any. It makes sense to me that he does have at least some. But the early wallet addresses have never moved and may have even been discarded during testing. For example here we see block #2 https://blockchain.info/block/000000006a625f06636b8bb6ac7b960a8d03705d1ace08b1a19da3fdcc99ddbdIt was likely mined by Satoshi, but has never been touched. So, Who knows?

I like how the price predictions years from now are down to the dollar.

I hope so. This is what it is best at, IMO.

I have some news about April 15th. The IRS is overloaded. They have lost another 5000 investigators and have their hands beyond full dealing with bad returns. Many of the problematic returns are from people who did not buy insurance and who did not understand that they must pay a penalty. They calculate that they can't get to them all. I have read that something like 50% of employees at the IRS are nearing retirement. Does this sound like they are about to crack down on bitcoin? Or does it sound like they have no time for that right now.

All this makes sense once you realize that there is no actual God. It's just people being people.
Yes. Not people but criminals. This. They are not human or people, they are only incivil criminals. +1 This is not ok in Islamic law either. It's just the cold blooded rape of a child. No religion or society would accept it. I'm sure these guys have rationalized it somehow. By invoking, oh... I dunno.. GOD! And let me guess. Anyone who disagrees should be killed in the name of God.

Of course none of us knows the future, but the fundamentals are still sound, adoption is up, lots of projects have been recently started. All good news. However supply is also way high right now. The market is awash with stolen coins, government auctions, mega-super mines. It has kept the price reasonable. As the extra coins work through the market and the supply is halved next year we should see increases. Assuming the demand remains the same or higher.

Talk to the nearest coworker about Bitcoin! Ahahaha! She will love it.

Crowdfunding usually means project is funded by many small investors. You cannot crowdfund the Bitcoin foundation, they have no product to pay us back for our investment. He should say donations. Yeah, I think he was thinking of a model more like kickstarter. As you mention, it's not really an investment. It would be a nightmare to manage, and only qualified investors can put up money like that. There may be a loophole if the BF structured itself as a kind of co-op, but it would be far more trouble than it's worth.

A few interesting ideas here. And thank you Bruce for opening it up to the larger community.

I would also be skeptical of unusually cheap coins. It could be a good deal, but it could also be a scam.

Let's try it with gold next. Start destroying all your gold (I don't even know how). If we each destroy one ounce of gold I will be richer in no time.
P.S. You have a lot of work ahead if you hope to change the price of bitcoin. You have done 10 Satoshi so far that = USD $0.0000217660. Not even close to one single penny.
Compare that to like 3600 BTC produced per day. You are going to have to convince people to destroy about $7,000 dollars worth of BTC per day to have any impact. Good luck.

Did you make a backup? Use that if you have it. But I'm not sure what you encrypted. Was it a public key?

what if bitcoin price crashed...due to any serious mistake or problem...can it still be recovered?
That would get my attention. When the price moves around due to fluctuations in supply and demand I don't think its a big deal. But if SHA encryption was broken, or something like that, it could really hurt.

One should be able to donate Small amounts with anonymity. For example I could drop a few bucks in the Salvation army bucket without providing any information. All you need is their address and they can't stop you from donating.

Weird and funny. Although all the Muslim Turks I have dealt with use toilet paper. I think of this as more of a difference between city dwellers and those who live in rural villages. Kinda like here in the U.S. I don't think paper was used much here until the twenties.

Life has never been found anywhere except Earth. That is the central fact and in no way implies that life will soon be found elsewhere. There is wanting to believe, and believing what you want. P.S. I saved $2500 a year with the new healthcare. Couldn't be happier.
