3321  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BPIP] Bitcointalk Public Information Project [Back in Action] on: November 15, 2020, 08:03:21 AM
I just found a weird behavior of the site, which seems to not parse "50 merits bombs".

At first, since Thursday the 12th I noticed a delay of updating my merits on the website. MoparMiningLLC sent me a merit and the site updated it to my profile on Friday evening (if I remember correctly; it could have been though Saturday morning). This may not look unusual, but so far I could see my new earned merits within a few minutes on the site.

After that, also during Thursday, I earned some more merits, including a 50 merits transaction from theymos (this being the last merits transaction on my account on Thursday). The other merits were received on Friday and Saturday: 1 from philipma, 2 from nullius, 4 from Ddmr and 1 from Pacimaker.

Again with delay, these last merits were updated on my BPIP profile, but the ones from theymos still don't appear, although they were earned before. I'm thinking if there is an issue with counting 50 merits transaction by the website Huh
3322  Other / Meta / Re: Merit source unapplication - Vlad2Vlad on: November 14, 2020, 10:24:56 AM
I should address some other issues in this case; but first things first:  Vlad2Vlad just made some extraordinary claims in another thread, which are quite relevant to this merit source unapplication.

I Don’t Steal.  And When the merit system atarted They had a formula where some legendariess got thousabds of merits.  Now go change your tampon cause soon I’m Gonna elevate to legendary extraordinaire.

Uhm... Without remembering his exact words, as I don't use to keep old PMs (unless they are really important to me), I recall that he used a similar explanation to me when I asked him how comes that he has so many sMerits if he is not a Merit Source. He told me back then that he received an enormous amount of sMerits when the Merit system was launched.

It smells like bullshit to me.  Vlad2Vlad is a habituated liar.  Moreover, I have spoken on cordial terms with several Legendaries about the merit system; and I never heard of anybody receiving more than the well-known quota of grandfathered sMerits:
So the most you could get is if you were a Legendary who maxed out your activity points in the last year, in which case you would get 1 * 0.4 * 1000 = 400 sMerit.

Yes, this is also what I know about the "bonus" sMerits received by various ranks after the Merit system was implemented. What I believe though is the following: maybe back then theymos created some merit sources which had no written application. Maybe he created them as he considered they were needed. If that was the case, it would make sense to believe that he could have chosen some merit sources for the local boards. And from here, maybe he made Vlad2Vlad the merit source for Romanian board. However, his interference with the Romanian board was (and still is) low. But if he was made a merit source in a first batch created by theymos, maybe this is why he doesn't have a written application.

But again, as I wrote in my previous post, when I talked to him he sounded like he has absolutely no idea about what a merit source is, nor about other forum facts well-known even by Newbie members. For example, I remember I told him that if it's real that he received such a huge amount of sMerits after the implementation of the system, considering for a second that he is not a merit source (which now appears to be impossible), how comes that he never run out of sMerits after more than 2 years? And I showed him a topic from Meta where merit sources complain about remaining without sMerits and ask for receiving more: {LIST}of the Merit Sources asking for more smerit. New Round..

Somehow, his reaction was like he understood from that topic and from my question that some users buy (respectively sell) merits. I had to explain him that this is not what I meant. Indeed, there were (and still are?) cases of trading merits but that was not what I meant. I wanted to prove him that if a merit source (which constantly receives sMerits) complains for running out of sMerits, how is possible for a regular user to not run out, like him, which stated that he is not a merit source?! The whole conversation was weird, as I was writing him in Romanian and he was answering in English... But he seemed that he has no idea what I'm talking about -- or he acted this way in order to look naïve.

Another example of pure lack of knowledge about very well known forum rules can be found in this topic: [1] and [2]. As you can see, he seemed to not know that multiple posts in a row are breaking a rule of the forum...

With that being said, of course, I cannot be absolutely certain that this is false.  Only staff at some level (or perhaps, only the administration) could be so certain.

Yes, indeed... However, I am almost sure he did not grandfather 3295 sMerits, according to BPIP.

Vlad2Vlad also claims a past direct acquaintance, and even friendship with Faketoshi himself [...]

What’s next, hiring Craig Wright on staff?

MemoryDealers is another option lol. Or Bitcoin SV = )))

For anyone who is even minimally familiar with my post history, I need not remark on the irony of my being randomly accused of being a Communist.  Roll Eyes

Looooooooool! That accusation reminded me of wolwoo which accused Lauda for genocide.

Now being serious, the user Apocalipsa (and Apocollapse) can be arguably believed to be an alt of Vlad, or a huge fan. Vlad has this "commie" word used frequently and I observed that these members talk somehow in his style when they are defending him. Look also at all their replies from the topic mentioned earlier by me (from post #36 forward).

Now such behavior I remember I used to have in my youth, together with other children, when we were adulating various popular characters, such as music stars: we tried to dress like them, to talk like them, to use their gestures and so on.

These two users may be such huge fans, cosidering the way they write. For example, when I read their posts they look like they were written by Vlad himself. Another option, of course, is they are alt accounts.
3323  Other / Meta / Re: [LOG] The ranked up members - Congratulations! on: November 14, 2020, 07:15:11 AM
By a simple count across my three active periods since the introduction of the merit system, it took a total of not more than 310 days’ worth of real activity to achieve this:

Wow! This is first word that crossed my mind. Nullius, your merit-magnet skill is outstanding. But it is great ro see that your contributions to the forum and to spread Satoshi's words are well appreciated. I am happy to see myself as your top merit fan! Congratulations for reaching this rare milestons and congrats again for reaching it in such a small amount of time!

Your bragging is not unfounded. I remember in early 2018 you earned hundreds of merit in a couple of months

Actually, he earned the merits for being hero in just 1 month Smiley This is a performance unseen so far and I am almost sure that we'll never see again:

Starting with 17 merits awarded to some of my old Jr. Member posts by people who remember them, I reached the Hero threshold of 500 merits within 27 days, 8 hours, 16 minutes, 22 seconds of active posting.  All in all, from the moment that theymos announced the merit system, it took me 32 days, 9 hours, 14 minutes, 51 seconds to go from zero to Hero
3324  Economy / Collectibles / Re: What would you pay for an unredeemed 1k BTC Casascius coin? on: November 13, 2020, 11:59:41 PM
1000 BTC unredeemed Casascius coin? Does something like this really exist?!

Just curious how many Bitcoins people would pay for an unredeemed 1k BTC Casascius Coin.
3325  Other / Meta / Re: Merit source unapplication - Vlad2Vlad on: November 13, 2020, 04:39:49 PM
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know of any evidence as to whether or not the account has always been under control of the same individual?  It seems to have suffered lost password problems unusually often, all starting after the introduction of the merit system.  FWIW—I do NOT like the forum culture of rampant speculation about this kind of thing; but this is sufficiently odd to warrant a closer look.

[...]

If it is not evidence of something fishy with the account, then it nonetheless is evidence that he’s an idiot.  (But we already know that, with conclusive proofs.)

Hello nullius, without thinking that I'm defending him - which I'm not - I don't think the account changed hands and I'll explain why. As far as I saw in the Romanian board, where he occasionally posts, he has a bad grammar. From what I understood from his posts he is living in US for many years and he forgot his own language. Despite this sound ridiculous, sometimes it happens. Nevertheless, I've seen people (Romanians) which after spending a month in Italy, when they came back home there were saying "come si dice [...]? lol. So some try to look smart (without realizing they look like imbeciles) and some really forget their own language (which is also a bad thing).

But this guy always wrote in the same bad Romanian when he posted on the Romanian board. If he would suddenly write correctly after a password change, I could have noticed that. I could have noticed also if his grammar became even worst than usual, after a password change. So thinking just from the point of view of his grammar (in Romanian) it doesn't seems that the account changed hands.

I talked to him just once, after the discussion scandal from this topic: Merit abuse by a Legendary. And I asked him out of curiosity if he is a merit source. The guy seemed to have no idea what this means. Actually I posted this inside this topic:

Are you sure that Vlad is a merit source? I asked him once, out of curiosity, and he seemed that he didn't even know what a merit source is. I had to explain him. He told me that when the merit system was implemented he woke up with a considerable amount of sMerits and that was it. Although he didn't explain very clear (as he seemed somehow unfamiliar with the subject), I understood that he is still using the sMerits from his initial airdrop from 2018 Huh Maybe he meant something else but this is what I understood.

And I asked him after seeing this topic: Merit abuse by a Legendary. But even there, nutildah stated at some point that he isn't a merit source, that's why I asked about that.

Indeed, considering the sMerits he sent, he is obviously a merit source. But it seems weird, as the guy is unaware of that (or playing that he doesn't know?). Back then when I exchanged a few PMs with him he told me that he doesn't visit any other forum section excepting the IX Coin thread and the Romanian board.

Therefore I am sure he didn't even read this topic...

Anyway, the idea is that I don't think the account changed hands. In rest, everything is clear: he merited an impostor, his attitude is anti-Bitcoin and he became (miraculously) a merit source without an application.
3326  Other / Meta / Re: Report flagged as bad by mistake? on: November 13, 2020, 04:25:52 PM
If the post was deleted it won't change the report if it's already been handled. Only admins can change the status of the report but I wouldn't bother them with it as nobody is going to care about one report. In fact, you could even argue that the report was correctly marked bad as if the local rules of the thread aren't stated with the creation of the thread then they shouldn't be enforced. Either way I wouldn't care about it.

OK, I understand, thank you for explaining. Indeed, 1 report won't make the difference. What was important here was if the mod allegedly marked it as bad or if it was by mistake. If it was allegedly, it would have created a precedent for other reports inside that topic. But since Rikafip reported the same post and it was deleted, it seems it was just a mistake, so no worries Smiley

I only have 7 bad reports, - but that doesn't worry me as much as the number of unhandled reports that are many times higher. I can come to terms with the fact that something is good or bad, but when something stays in the air forever then it leaves doubt as to why such a report was never processed.

I share the same feeling. I have by now an accuracy of 95% accuracy (7929 good and 469 bad). But also 1838 unhandled, which is an enormous amount.

@ op I feel you about this topic.

Hehe, thanks Smiley
3327  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ★LIST★ BitcoinTalk's ESCROW Providers: Ranking & Blacklist ☠ Avoid Scam ☠ on: November 12, 2020, 07:37:32 PM
This topic needs some more updates. Some of the users mentioned in OP should be removed, while others should be added.

Lutpin should be removed as I didn't see any topic where he announced that he is offering escrow services. The same applies for the other users with no ANN threads - Seccour, starsoccer9 and silent17. How do you know they offer escrow if they have no related threads?

bittawm's ANN thread is missing from OP; here it is: Bittawms Legendary Escrow Service - 0.9% BTC. However, the user was banned in the past, according to LoyceV:

He's banned:
    27. Legendary bittawm (Trust: 118: -0 / +13) (45 Merit earned (history)) (BPIP)

He was later unbanned, but I don't know if an ex-banned user can be considered reliable for acting as escrow.

Hhampuz should be added: Hhampuz Campaign Management & Escrow Service | Available!.

yogg should also be added: [ESCROW] 🌠 yogg's escrow service ⭐ BTC & Alts ⭐ Fast ⭐ Reliable ⭐ Secure 🌠.

Other users from OP should be asked if they are willing to offer escrow services anymore. One example is John K., which is mostly inactive for months. But the other users should be also asked if their services are still operational. Maybe some retired...
3328  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Recommended bitcointalk escrow services on: November 12, 2020, 07:20:09 PM
there is another thread about escrow providers. There are several - some updated, some not.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=276897.0

That topic mentioned by you is very old (2013) and I had the impression that it is not updated. Now I see it was updated this month. I'll write there my suggestions as well, thanks for the heads-up!

Not sure what his ban was about though.

As far as I see, he was baned for plagiarism, according to Cyrus: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5145454.msg51144345#msg51144345.
3329  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Recommended bitcointalk escrow services on: November 12, 2020, 05:55:08 PM
thank you for the reccomendation!

No worries Smiley But I think it's more important to see if OP will come back online to update the topic, as he is away for more than 1 month... In case he won't come back, maybe another topic should be created, a properly updated one.
3330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WEBD][CPU][POW&POS] 🌍 WebDollar - Currency of the Internet | in browser on: November 12, 2020, 05:49:08 PM
Let me tell you about the benefits of WebDollar cryptocurrency [...]

Thank you, but I knew all those benefits from the beginning of 2018. On the paper they look great. The problem is that there is no real team to develop in a coherent manner all those things. At the beginning I thought this project may have a future. It is created by Romanians and I am a Romanian as well. But in time they made mistakes after mistakes and started to act like they don't care anymore about their own work. They stopped talking to the users here on the forum, they did not offer visibility anymore. They had a wise evanhelist - Adrian Stratulat - which left the project at some point. I don't know if he left or they fired him, but that was a huge mistake. That guy was constantly talking to users, answering their questions and raising awareness about the project. So they let the evangelist go and brought a barber instead. Smart move, right?

Look also when OP of this topic was last seen online.

From a promising project they turned it into a joke ruled by ninja barbers. And this is something I say, as a Romanian. Can't imagine what foreigners may believe about this project anymore.

ElRond, on another side, is another Romanian project. It launched later than WebDollar and look where it got. It is in Top 100 CoinMarketCap, it is listed on Binance and it has value. WebDollar lost all its promising value due to the incompetence of the developers which fired an evangelist and placed a barber instead.

And about Pandora Pay:

As I wrote in the above post,

It's OK, I just found out everything I needed to know.

3331  Other / Meta / Re: Report flagged as bad by mistake? on: November 12, 2020, 08:38:10 AM
Report is marked as "Good" so that means mods deleted it, from the 2nd try, but at least post is gone now.

Thank you for the help, Rikafip.

However, my report appears now as deleted (having the strikethrough font), but it's still flagged as Bad. Why?

Can it be changed to Good by the mod who handled it? Or by hilariousandco, given the fact that he is Global Moderator...? Maybe a mod can't change the status of a handled report though... but maybe hilarious is able to do that...

Yeah I understand it has sentimental value for you since thread has been going on for some time and you are active there, but these things will keep happening, people not following the rules then you have to hassle with reports  and as we can see occasionally it will be marked as bad. But I guess you will have to live with it you wanna keep the thread.

I'll try to talk again with OP's author and see what to do... I'd prefer though to keep this topic...

With or without your doubts, we have bought and re-sell many machines like that for less.

Lol, now everything makes sense. You are a reseller looking to buy PCs as cheap as possible for you to build profit and you are trying to convince any seller that his price is too expensive. OK, that being cleared out, we can stop the discussion here.

These pcs are over priced for USA but for europe there is vat tax.

do your research if you sell or buy.

Yep, it's correct what you said about the VAT, philipma, thank you for joining the conversation and for clearing thing out. Not for the reseller quoted above, as he isn't interested about that anyway and he is looking just to buy as cheap as possible for reselling as expensive as possible. But your input may be useful for other forum users which may not know this difference.
3333  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Recommended bitcointalk escrow services on: November 12, 2020, 07:29:02 AM
This topic needs a serious revamp. Some of the users mentioned in OP should be removed, while others should be added.

DarkStar_ should be removed from OP as he is not offering escrow services anymore:

My service is no longer active.

Lutpin should also be removed as I didn't see any topic where he announced that he is offering escrow services.

bittawm's ANN thread is missing from OP; here it is: Bittawms Legendary Escrow Service - 0.9% BTC.

Other users from OP should be asked if they are willing to offer escrow services anymore. One example is John K., which is mostly inactive for months.

Besides, other reliabe users are offering escrow services and they should be added to OP. Such examples are yogg ([ESCROW] 🌠 yogg's escrow service ⭐ BTC & Alts ⭐ Fast ⭐ Reliable ⭐ Secure 🌠) or MoparMiningLLC (offering escrow services).

The disruption of space-time continuum spreads more and more and other users are affected. Excepting my example from above, it seems that another user had no clue about being on a different timeline of the metaverse:

Username: akirasendo17
Post Count: 983
BTC Address (must be SegWit):33c8E1hsdxe2LBRm2r1KY6KLYkz5QyaiVR

as a senior member you should already know the rules of a signature campaign, when you can submit an application...
sorry for this post I have an issue with the internet connection refreshing the page showing open
that is why I posted

Similar to Restamand, akirasendo posted in ChipMixer campaign while DS opened the campaign, on October 11th, but his application was posted on November 8th. As you can see, he thought his Internet connection is too slow, which is the same thing stated by Restmand. But they were both not knowing the truth.

Cygan thought that akirasendo didn't read that ChipMixer was CNFP when akirasendo posted, but he is not aware as well about the space-time continuum disruption. Akirasendo really posted when the campaign was open, but in his alternate reality the application appeared a month later, when the campaign was closed again.

May fate Foxpup have mercy of our souls...

When in doubt, you can try reporting it again.

Thx for the suggestion! I was wondering if this report can be changed from Bad to Good though, without making another report... and risking having that one flagged as bad also.

On second thought:
I reported this post as it does not the rule stated in OP:
I don't think not following the exact format makes it off-topic. If OP wanted that, he could have made the thread self-moderated.

Uhm... But I didn't report the post for being off-topic. I reported it for "Breaking rule stated in OP. (meaning not respecting the posting format rule from the OP; and this is the same reference I wrote for all other good reports on this topic).

If OP wanted that, he could have made the thread self-moderated.

I discussed with topic's author prior stating the new rule in the OP if we should create a new topic from scratch, self-moderated, or if we should keep this one and report all posts not respecting the rule. And we decided to keep this topic, as it has already a history, it contains many suggested movies and many users know the topic already... That's why we kept this topic instead of creating a new, self-moderated one.

I'd let it go, then again, I barely visit the Off-topic board anyway.

Most likely I'll do the same... But if a mod would be kind enough to pop in the conversation and explain the situation, it would be great. I'm just curious, that's all...

The only thing I see missing from the local rule is the genre; so maybe the mod handling the report deemed it not to be such a big thing. Even if the link is embedded in the text instead of in a separate space

Well, this is why rules exist: to be respected... Now if this post remains there and my report remains bad, this would create a precedent for others which would avoid posting in the stated rule, right?

Thing is, @GazetaBitcoin stated  that he previously reported similar posts that were not following the format, and all those posts were deleted so far. That's why he assumed this was a mistake, not deleting it even though it obviously doesn't follow the format.

Yes, this is what I meant.

I reported the post too, lets see what happens.

Thx, Rikafip!

Imho, since Movie thread is in Off-Topic board which attracts  spammers, more elegant solution would be to open new self-moderated thread

Indeed... But, as I explained above, the topic has some history already and we thought it would be nice to keep it, if we report the posts not following the format and, of course, if the mods collaborate with us, as they did until now...

Why are you making a joke out of this?

I'm not the one making jokes. The developers are making jokes about their own project.

The Volume is peaking around 10k after the Vindax Listing in early October, just to mention.

Before being listed there (which is not a top exchange: it barely meets in Top 100 CoinMarketCap), this WEBD was traded in amount of 0$ - 100$ per day, for the past 12 months (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/webdollar). Do I also need to post screenshots or you can browse by your own to convince yourself? Also, in your opinion, do 10.000$ in 24h seem like a reasonable volume trading amount for a respectable cryptocurrency? Let's see - for example, the trading volume of the last coin from CMC Top 100: at this hour, the respective coin is Avalanche (AVAX). Oh, what a surprise: I see a trading volume of 23.713.162$.

If you don't know about pandorapay you don't know a lot about this project.

It's OK, I just found out everything I needed to know.

We believe PandoraPay will be a game changer for WebDollar💪💪💪

Yep, it definitely looks so 💪💪💪

And this barber thing, come on  Roll Eyes

What? You should have told them "come on", not to me. Am I the one who hired ninja barbers? Lol.

Hello,

I think I have a post flagged as bad by mistake by a moderator. The post was made by user DrWho42 inside the Share Good Movies Please? topic.

I reported this post as it does not the rule stated in OP:

Edit: since October 6th, 2020, please mention the movies only in the following format:

Movie title - year - genre - imdb link

Example:

Seven Pounds - 2008 - Drama - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0814314

I discussed with topic's author (peter0425) for this rule a while ago and we both agreed it was necessary such a rule for avoiding spam and also for having more information about the movies other users suggest. After the rule was implemented, I reported all the posts which did not respect the rule and all reports have been flagged as good, excepting this one. All the reports had this reference text: "Breaking rule stated in OP.".
