3321  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Accepting bitcoins in everyday transactions on: April 13, 2015, 03:27:29 PM
For a food truck there is little reason to wait for confirmation. It would be cost prohibitive to launch a double spend attack to get a sandwich. It's the same as McDonald's accepting a credit card. It would cost to much money to verify your identity for a Big Mac so they just take the risk, knowing that it would not be worth the effort of credit card fraud.
If you were selling a car it would be worth waiting for some confirmations, but not for a small sale.
3322  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2016 Halving: Could It Actually Kill BTC? on: April 10, 2015, 08:28:49 PM
It's halved before and did not die. Although a lot of people said it would. But then again some always say that.
3323  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is regulation really coming to Bitcoin ? on: April 10, 2015, 05:58:54 PM
Well obviously it is subject to regulation now. The question is what other laws will banking lobbyists think up. They spend lots of money to shape the law, how much have you spent? There is your answer.

The funny thing is that, any country specific law can not stop bitcoin. It requires all countries to agree upon this. But, that is going to happen. USA will never handshake with Russia/China. India will never handshake with Pakistan. Israel will never handshake with Palestine. So Bitcoin will remain Smiley
That is a good point and a ray of light. If they fear missing out on the money because of businesses going elsewhere, countries may temper their impulse to regulate BTC to death.
3324  Economy / Economics / Re: About Bitcoin Foundation: Who is Lindsay Holland w/ $160k salary - $13k/month on: April 10, 2015, 05:28:31 PM
Does anyone read before posting? She was paid in BTC and the price went up. Good for her!
3325  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-04-09] Bloomberg: Orange Seeks to Invest in Bitcoin Startups ... on: April 10, 2015, 04:29:24 PM
How does one contact this company?
I had an interesting meeting in the mid-east with some execs from Orange. They were London based but Orange operates in Jordan also. They had heard of BTC but did not know what all the fuss was about. As they listened they became excited about using bitcoin and both said they were going to give it a try when they got home. I wonder how little interaction like these impact big decisions?
3326  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is just to complicated for the average person to use.. on: April 09, 2015, 07:14:59 PM
I guess this means we are all above average.  Wink
3327  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We just hit a new record of average monthly transactions per day on: April 09, 2015, 07:13:37 PM
I can't wait to see how some h8er will explain why this means bitcoin is dead.  Grin
3328  Other / Politics & Society / Re: NEW JERSEY WANTS TO TAX BITCOIN TRANSACTIONS on: April 09, 2015, 07:09:06 PM
7% !!! To live in New Jersey  Huh
Surely you mean that one receives 7% as a consolation.  Cheesy

Without an effective lobby we are going to have to get used to this. There will be dozens of bills coming in the next two years.

3330  Other / Politics & Society / Re: cop shoots man in the back on: April 09, 2015, 05:44:34 PM
Suddenly I am feeling lucky that I'm living a country where guns have been banned, there are many reason that U.S can't ban the guns, but the truth is guns do bring harm.

Really? It makes me feel happy that the cops are not the only ones with guns.
That video shows a clear case of murder. There is no situation where it is legal to shoot a fleeing unarmed person. In fact, if someone with a CCW had been there, he/she would have been justified to shoot the cop dead as he shot at the suspect. The cops here are not our superiors, I see them as back-up for when I can't handle a criminal by myself.
3331  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: My wallet on the computer was robbed on: April 09, 2015, 05:38:06 PM
You may want to consider your computer compromised.  Undecided

Is it a windows PC? Then you may also want to consider installing Linux in a partition. That way you can boot up Linux when you need better security. (Not that it's fool proof).  It may be hard to determine where you picked up some mal-ware, but avoid downloading programs related to BTC unless they are open source. Anyway, sorry to hear about your loss.
3332  Economy / Securities / Re: Anything sustainable worth of investing? on: April 09, 2015, 05:29:43 PM
So you are telling me this entire industry consist of mining, exchanges and hoarding???

No. There are all sorts of businesses and even some opportunities to "invest". But you will find that doing your homework is everything. Don't look at some amateur online investing portal, go and meet people. Find out who has a good idea then scheduled a meeting and have them demonstrate their business model and check out their books. Ask yourself if they are capable of following their plan and look at what factors will challenge their plans. Investing is a lot of work if your doing it right.
3333  Economy / Economics / Re: Investment Banker - Bitcoin is not a "real" currency ;-> on: April 09, 2015, 04:31:53 PM
I love it when an expert tells me bitcoin is not a currency because no one uses it. Even though I use it all the time.

Kodak is a good example of institutional blindness. As is Blockbuster video or any bookstore. These people build their whole world around an idea, then can't imagine the world moving on to a better idea. I think the banking business is poised for an even greater fall with bitcoin. They have NEVER had to face competition like this before and seem totally unprepared for it. Instead choosing to ignore reality and say stupid things like its not "real".
3334  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] "Rabbit ears" lithops Pseudotruncatella seeds on: April 09, 2015, 04:23:24 PM
Woah, are those truffula tree seeds?

3335  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: how much would it take to : on: April 09, 2015, 04:17:53 PM
None of this is that hard since Satoshi has done almost all the work. You could learn a lot with this project, but don't be too sad when the value of your coin is far less than the effort of creating it. There are a lot of alts out there.

3338  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin halving on: April 08, 2015, 08:06:38 PM
It's OK that bitcoin is halving. There are websites that can double it back to normal!  Smiley
3339  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Yemeni fighters attack Houthis as aid flights delayed on: April 08, 2015, 07:52:31 PM
If you think there are a lot of conspiracies here, it's epic in the Mid-East. According to Houthi (the founder) 9/11 was Al-Qaeda and the CIA trying to persecute him specifically.

Yeah, that makes sense.  Roll Eyes

I don't think there are a lot of conspiracies here, everyone have his own mind to judge the history event and the contemporaneous events. I think a few years and it will start a new worldwide war.
You must be reasonable then. There are reasonable people also.  Smiley

But if your living there you must see some of the crazy ideas that get thrown around. I hope your wrong about a new world war, but I fear your correct. Ousting Saddam pulled the pin on the hand grenade in the region. I think we will be at war for decades still.

Anyway, where are you in the mid-east? I love the Islamic world and try to get there every year. Despite the news, the people there are some of the kindest I have met abroad.
3340  Other / Off-topic / Re: IS UFO or ALIENS are real ? on: April 08, 2015, 07:44:47 PM
Not a single finding in all of science shows life anywhere but Earth. There are some clues that are consistent with life, but no evidence. People are very confused about this issue. Its especially hard because there is no reason to think Earth is special. Life could be common or unique. As unsatisfying as it is, there are no data to determine an answer yet.
