After I checked electrum wallet online and there you go again. A lot of phishing sites saying electrum when you check the site it has slight difference that if you are not keen observing then might fall to phishing site which means your financial assets are in danger.
Don't trust, verify! It is the famous mantra in crypto.

Google ads about wallets are not filtered may it be legit or not as long aa it pays to them and they earn money they keep it pinned on google search results.
Google are bad and they rely on reports from community to detect and remove fake applications on their store or phishing sites from top of Google search results. It sucks.
3343  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beware of "Pay original fine" - a scam method on: July 05, 2021, 06:03:48 AM
Why do people go to such a crypto exchange?
Newbies naively think their capital will be always protected when they store it on any crypto exchange. By default, they believe if an exchange operates for a while, it should be a good and secured one. No risks of scam exit, no vulnerability to hack, etc.

They are wrong NotYourKeys.org that is a good website to learn about such risk.

Quote
There are so many reputed ones still you will read every day a new name of an unknown exchange. What kind of lucrative offers drags them there? Just because of their own greed they lose what they have and then they cry for help.
They want to gamble with strange and tiny altcoins and hope that their bets will help them becoming $ millionaires.

Scammers are getting smarter every day and this is the first time I am reading about such a scam. Thanks for the heads-up OP.
Scammers are stupid and they reuse their method in many aspect of our lives and in cryptocurrency as well.

3345  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin transaction fees (in sats/kb). Sunday, Saturday are best to move BTC on: July 04, 2021, 03:11:26 PM
It's Sunday, around 15 UTC and you have chances to enjoy very low fees.

As of writing, you can get a confirmation in next 1 block if you use a fee rate at 2 to 3 satoshi/ (v)byte for your transaction. Total size of mempool from the tip to 2 sat/ (v)byte is less than 0.77 vMB.

Check the mempool at https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#1,24h
3346  Other / Archival / Re: How does the system work for getting Legendary Rank? on: July 04, 2021, 12:32:30 PM
No, those users always wrote more than 14 posts per period, so their counters, like mine, always changed strictly by 14. Although I saw those users whose activity counter changed with each post written, because they wrote very little in 14 -day period, but it's not about them at all.

My question is when is the Legendary rank given? Strictly on the days of recalculation of activity or on any day between periods of recalculation of activity?
If their posts and activities are always capped at 14 for each 14 days, when their lucky numbers knock their doors, they will rank up at the activity-recounting day.

  • User A: has abundant posts previously
    • User A will rank up after they make at least 1 post and that post is counted into 1 new activity. Activity will be counted every one hour, perhaps.
    • Because all previously abundant posts will be counted all into 14 activity for the new period, even that user only makes 1 post in a new period.
  • User B: does not have abundant posts previously
    • the one will have to make enough 14 posts in a new period, get it all counted to rank up.
    • It means user B will be ranked up either in the day 1 or day 14 of a new period. Depends on how fast or slow he reaches the 14 new posts.

You can call the first post in each 14-day period is a mark for potential 14 activity point.
If you have 13+ uncounted posts before the new period, they will be all counted as 13 activity points, so totally you have 14 new activity points and rank up.

I believe it is the answer for your question.  Wink
Can I get more than 14 activity in two week period?

No. However, you can technically get more than 14 activity in a fortnight if you sign up in between periods, but you can't get more than 14 activity in a fortnightly period. For instance, if the period starts on a Wednesday and you sign up on Tuesday you can get 14 points on Tuesday and another 14 on Wednesday providing the period has started. You will then have 28 activity points but won't be able to get any more until two weeks' time when the new period starts.
3347  Other / Archival / Re: How does the system work for getting Legendary Rank? on: July 04, 2021, 12:15:54 PM
It turns out that the Legendary rank can be obtained on any day between Activity recounts, and not necessarily on the day the Activity is recalculated? For example, my Activity on July 14 will become 784 and I can already apply for a new rank. If I am not given a new rank exactly on July 14, the day of receiving 784 Activity, then I should wait for the next possible promotion on July 28, on the day of receiving the 798 Activity, or there is a possibility that my rank may be raised on any day between July 14 and 28. July, for example?
I could not totally understand your discussion.

In my understanding, I feel as follows
  • Legendary member rank will be given with a random number of activity, from to
  • Activity points will be recounted after each 14 days. It is only true for members who always reach the cap of 14 activities within each 14 days
  • Assume if I make only 4 posts from 30 June to 14 July, and my lucky number to rank up to Legendary will be in the next recount. However, I only make 4 posts for the next 14 days. It means, I will be able to rank up any day in the third 14-days period, if I make enough 20 posts, even within an hour.
  • Is this what you feel weird about some ranked-up members in your local boards?

3349  Other / Meta / Re: Lamentations of a newbie [ Activity increase spam and shit post] on: July 03, 2021, 05:00:10 PM
Normally, if a newbie start posting, the activity will be counting along until after 14 successful posts, that is exactly what you meant, but after 14 posts, you will notice it is no more counting like what you are thinking, you still have 13 posts, that is the reason you do not know yet. After 14th post, it will only count every 14 days, even if newbie is posting often, when the activity is no more counting, he will have to stop if you think it can result to spamming.
I am not actually understand what you write.

Simply said, activity is capped at 14 for each 14-days period. You post more than 14 posts within 14 days, a max activity point you have is only 14, not more.

The exception is you post 1 post in each 14-days period to mark that period, then another one for a next period and be inactive for a while. Few months later, you are active again, make 26 posts within a day. When the 1hour-counting is completed, you will get 26 more activity points in 1 hour.

Activity point is counted and updated every hour (perhaps). It seems what you misunderstood.

3350  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it worth buying other cryptocurrencies other than bitcoin? on: July 03, 2021, 04:45:54 PM
I heard about Bitcoin and ethereum around the same time. Bitcoin was I believe around $15k and ETH was below $200. I couldn't afford to buy 1btc so I didn't buy any and I didn't buy ethereum because I believed Bitcoin was the only genuine crypto currency to buy. But since my discovery of this forum I have found members who believe different. Looking back I see I have lost on both fronts and wasted an opportunity. So my question is this which is more important factor to consider before buying a coin, do you buy because of the technology of the project and what it has to offer, the utility of the token or the news?
The answer is Bitcoin is the best ever.
  • Messari.io screener
  • Click on Customize, remove check from unused indicators. It's better when you narrow down the list of indicators, to see % Down from ATH (All time high)
  • Even Bitcoin set its new all time high in May, many altcoins have yet reclaimed their 2017 or 2018 all time highs.
  • Even so, Bitcoin still has less % Down from ATH compares to many other cryptocurrencies

You can use Dollar cost averaging or Satoshi cost averaging tables
3351  Other / Meta / Re: Lamentations of a newbie [ Activity increase spam and shit post] on: July 03, 2021, 03:54:10 PM
The activity period however promotes spamming at beginner level because of the need to rank up. I humbly suggest that the activity system should be reviewed, instead of counting the number of post per activity period it should be the amount of time invested in the forum.
Brand new to newbie members can not spam because they are limited and theymos does not want to have more newbie jail. Newbies have PM limit too.
  • Brandnew - newbie: 6 minutes between 2 consecutive posts, from post #1 to post #15
  • After having 15 posts, and it is counted to activity point (15 activity), the waiting time will be reduced to 1.5 minutes.

Sources
Code:
waittime = 360;
if(activity >= 15)
        waittime = (int)(90 - activity);
if(activity >= 60)
        waittime=(int)(34.7586 - (0.0793103 * activity));
if(activity >= 100)
        waittime = max((int)(14-(activity/50)), 4);

One reason that I was hesitant to do this before is that there are an awful lot of newbie restrictions, and I don't want the forum to be unwelcoming to good newbies. I'll think about tying some of those to activity instead of rank in the future.
3352  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EMC] Eloncoin - Mars, here we come!! 🚀 - POS Energy Efficient. on: July 03, 2021, 11:01:42 AM
I have 12 connections to the network, and my wallet is open for the last five hours and had 52,500 Eloncoin but I'm not earning anything and I've been doing this for the last five days I have read this article
You can get this basic tutorial in ElonCoin wallet.
  • Wallet > Settings > Help > FAQ
  • Or you can simply click on the icon for FAQ, question mark, at the top right corner
  • See details in How do I stake EMC?
To stake, you need to unlock your wallet and matured coins that have at least 600 confirmations.

Quote
Does this mean 52500 Eloncoin is not enough to get a block? how many more Eloncoins to add so I can earn from staking.
With different amount of coin, you will have different weight on the network to stake. The higher number of coin, the bigger weight. Remember with same coin, your weight is not constant and will change when the network conditions. Imagine it as same as mining. Nowadays, you can not mine a single Bitcoin with one ASIC.
3353  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Prices and Transaction Volumes After Difficulty Change on: July 03, 2021, 06:04:50 AM
I don't know and as I said months ago, difficulty adjustment has lag effects (if there are) on price movements.
  • Newest update on difficulty adjustment
  • Price spread is the difference between highest and lowest daily price
  • Lag effects: Possibly, significant increase of difficulty (relates to hashrate) results in price topping days later. Horrific drop of difficulty causes price dumping days later
  • It's neither financial advice nor prediction
3354  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: The history of Bitcoin difficulty adjustment (in percent) on: July 03, 2021, 05:26:42 AM
Update

  • Current difficulty: 19932791027263
  • According to diff.cryptothis.com, the next difficulty adjustment would be -28%. If the difficulty adjusts like the estimation, it would be the biggest negative adjustment in history.

  • The biggest (-) adjustment happens 10 years ago, on 31 Oct 2011: -18%
  • In 2020 and 2021, there are a few big negative adjustments from -12% to -16%, two in 2020 and two in 2021 (see details below)

Code:

It is my story and matches with your rank, your current difficulties. So spend some time to read it.  Wink

I think I have found the key to the picture not showing, I did not use BBcode.
This information is really helpful to me, thank you again.
You are welcome.

In fact, I don't think it is necessary to use images just to present your tutorials in this case because of some reasons
  • Images require more bandwidth to load them, and it brings trouble to people who have low bandwidth to use.
  • Sometimes you have to resize images (with website, apps, etc.) or adjust their width/ height. It is a waste of time.
  • If you need to edit anything, you have to make a screenshot, resize and upload it again. It is another waste of time.
  • My advice: present it directly with code block
bitcointalk Bold the middle font

As same as above, I can use as same as how @xtraelv made that tutorial Instructions on how to use BBCode
Code:
[b]bitcointalk[/b]

No offense, just my sincere advice.
3357  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How ethereum gas fee work?? on: July 02, 2021, 04:49:21 PM
I am confused because I not get the reason that why ethereum fee become high and high automatically and become low and low automatically without any reason and especially ethereum gas fee become too high in claiming of any ido token .
It is not automatically high or low. Nothing is automated like that.  Smiley

What the reason behind it what kind of mechanism behind it which control ethereum gas fee.
There are reasons such as DeFi and DEXs, high demand on Ethereum and so on.

There are some tips to make plans and broadcast your transactions with as cheapest transaction fees as possible.

Above are general stats for gas price. Please use Gas Now to know calendar days and hours intra-day that usually give discounting gas price

Customize the filter (Rapid, Fast) and scroll the gas price (at bottom) left to right and vice versa..

I have written at the very first of the article that your wallet has to be connected to the internet to stake EMC. Isn't it enough?
When you unlock your wallet, it still connect to the Internet and nodes in order to sync your wallet.

You can check active connections at the top of wallet as well as network traffic. Double click on the network icon to get it.

I have written a simple guideline for staking eloncoin for the beginners who are new to PoS and have no idea how it works. This is a very simple guideline. I will write some more guidelines in the future if I get enough appreciation  Grin from the community.
https://link.medium.com/wx01XMp7yhb
It is your contribution but I think such things should be done officially by the team. Especially if it is written by Eloncoin account like that.

Community can make contribution but with personal accounts. You are fast to register that account. Congratulations!  Tongue

You missed a point
  • Staking requires wallet to be opened.
  • It means if wallet is encrypted with passphrase, you will need to type a passphrase to unlock it
