3341  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoin for everyone on: May 10, 2021, 10:15:06 AM
This sounds very interesting, but we are living in a capitalist system. Goods and money are not being spread equally around. So far there are only a small number of political parties who want to transfer wealth between the rich and the poor. The same thing would need to happen with bitcoins. Everybody who has more than 120 USD of bitcoins would need to give their coins away.  How could we force people to do so? If one country would start to enforce such rules that the citizens who have bitcoins would probably leave and relocate to another country. Who here would be willing to give up all his coins?
3342  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: At $7.5 Dogecoin will be more valuable than BTC on: May 10, 2021, 10:03:18 AM
It's coming quick, Doge will go to $3 easily in the coming weeks, then to $7 is no problem, after that it will be BIGGER than BTC,

Which means that the most valuable crypto on earth, actually admits it a no-value scam, and doesn't even hide, while all along BTC has lied about its utility

Funny the JOKE crypto is more valuable than the 'holy crypto', but the fact is the holy crypto is a worthless dinosaur propped up by a few geriatric whales; dogecoin of course is also owned in majority by just a few people, but at least they're not lying to their buyers

Oh boy! Imagine the hype we will see if doge coin surpasses bitcoins. I am a fan of both coins, but if I had to choose I would probably take bitcoins over doge. But if doge will be more valuable than a lot of people would likely lose trust in bitcoins. I think we would see another huge hype and people would start selling their bitcoins just to jump into doge coin.
3343  Other / Off-topic / Re: Electric car - do you like it? on: May 10, 2021, 09:54:33 AM
Better question would be:
How to make electric car work without batteries?

We already have that, it's called metro. It's big cars that run on tracks with electricity without batteries. The problem is that you can't go wherever you like, only to fixed stations. The metro is much more friendly for the environment than fuel based cars. Even some cities rely on busses with electricity. The problem here is that you need some power source above the bus or below it,  like with trams. Having our own car without batteries seems impossible right now.
3344  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online gambling risks during coronavirus pandemic on: May 10, 2021, 09:49:31 AM
As we stay at home more it is inevitable that we will spend more time online, on social media, and online games. Several research studies have demonstrated that online gambling companies have benefited greatly as a consequence of this.

I recently read an article in which Lazaros Gonidis, lecturer in Psychological Methods and Statistics at University of Kent, commented about the risks that gambling addicts might face during the COVID-19 lockdown, as well as the responsibility of operators to protect vulnerable individuals.[1]

Whether you have a history of pathological gambling addiction or just considering gambling for fun, Gonidis has shared some valuable tips for all of us:

  • When you are tempted to gamble online, use that to motivate you to go for a walk or exercise instead.
  • If you decide to gamble, you should keep a record of how much money and time you spend on gambling daily. Studies show that gamblers lose track of how much time and money they spend on gambling.
  • Social distancing should not lead to social isolation, so talk to your friends and peers and discuss your gambling problem with them. Having support can make a big difference.
  • Finding other mental stimulation to keep your mind busy can be very helpful in suppressing thoughts of gambling. If you need to be online then seek out online activities that help you to overcome the urge to gamble.
  • Seek expert advice if you feel your gambling activities are getting out of hand. BeGambleAware.org is a very good place to start.

Does any of these methods work for you? How do you keep a rein on your gambling habits?

[1] - Olivia Miller, "Online Gambling Risks During COVID-19 Lockdown", News Centre - University Of Kent

Fitness and exercise are very important through this pandemic. This will help us with gambling and without it. We shouldn't forget how positive the impact of just going for a walk is for us. When fighting an addiction it is even more important. For many of us here gambling is just a way to relax in the evening. If I wouldn't be gambling I would probably drink alcohol and watch TV. I am already happy that I can get rid of my bad habits and some alternatives to do at home. Making money is not a priority for me when gambling. I understand that it is more likely to lose than to win. But I don't mind losing a little money if I have the chance to win big one day.
3345  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do not trust everything you see in the internet on: May 10, 2021, 09:36:16 AM

No matter how real it looks, don't trust everything you see, seek for further validations in different sources for clarifications and proofs.

We have this topic proposal held last month and some of my mates topic is based on what they find in the internet, and our professor quickly dismissed the topics that is THEORETICALLY IMPOSSIBLE. Like PERPETUAL MOTION Machine (Unlimited Energy) that is not possible because of the 1st and 2nd law of thermodynamics and many more.

This applies to other courses and other topics so beware.

Internet seeks views, and they can do anything for views.

Yes perpetual motion is impossible, we can't create unlimited energy out of nothing. If someone offers such a machine it's obviously a scam. Unfortunately the Internet is full of scams. For me the Internet is like advertising, everything sounds and looks awesome at first. But once you actually have it and look it at it closely it's a lot of smoke and hot air. We need to protect each other from the scammers.
3346  Economy / Economics / Re: If we have crypto Why people still buy stocks? on: May 10, 2021, 08:35:16 AM
Why people still buy stocks?
If with crypto much bigger profits *
3% daily gain is nothing If you can get 100% profit with Good coins pump.
How the Hell people Even get rich with stocks with so small profits?

Sure we can earn 100 % with buying cytpo currencies, but we also have the risk to lose 80%. The risks of buying alt coins is higher than buying blue chips. When we buy stocks of an top rated company than we are a partial owner of the company, we are entitled to earn dividends each year which is already making a nice return on its own. When a crypto coin goes bankrupt we lose it all, but with a company we still get a small percentage back after the bankruptcy.
3347  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: it's hard to sleep because of thinking about something on: May 10, 2021, 08:30:01 AM
Worried about missing out on valuable moments to profit from short-term trades in easily-pumped altcoins.
Many people say short-term trading is too time-consuming, and it turns out to be true
How to deal with a situation like this, can you guys give me suggestions and input?

I had the exact same problems like you, when I first started out with trading I only traded stock and became so anxious that price would drop while I am not watching. So I couldn't sleep at all anymore because I kept constantly checking the market on my phone. My first idea was just to stay invested overnight. I bought and sold only intra day and closed my positions after everyday of trading. Unfortunately transaction costs are just too high to keep doing it. Now the best approach for me is to just invest long term and accept the fluctuations.
3348  Other / Off-topic / Re: 12 Secret About Men on: May 10, 2021, 08:18:24 AM
In the psychological aspect of Men. Do you believe that the attributes that Men possesses are  actually wierd if not well understood? Which side of Men do you find more wierd?
Weird nature about Men
1.Men let go faster
2.Men need time for themselves
3.Men learn from their Father
4.Men share bond with their partner(their hobbies)
5.Men talks about feeling
6.Men Act to say I love you not by saying
7.Men take commitment serious
8.Men really are good listener even if they are speechless
9.Men like pleasing their partner
10.Men love when woman initiate Sex
11.Men get performance anxiety
12.Men stray when need are not met
 and more.....
 Let's discuss

I don't know if it is just me, but reading these points it feels more like female attributes than male ones. For example learning from our father, while this is true I read that the bond between daughters and fathers are much stronger. Because as a kid daughters want to marry their fathers and boy wants to marry their mother. Then also straying men. I thought that woman tend to cheat more than men, and are just better with hiding it.
3349  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers - How do you use your signature campaign earnings? on: May 09, 2021, 07:05:00 AM
It's been a while since I looked at the thread and I am quite surprised how the poll turned out in the end. At the start the number of people who sold their signature earnings into fiat currency again was a very small. But now it is more than 60% of the people here who sell at least some of their signature earnings again. This might be related due to the high bitcoin price lately, but still there is so much room for bitcoins to improve. I would not sell any coins tight now. Gambling with our coins is fine because we can grow our crypto portfolio. But once we  sell our coins we won't profit from any future appreciation.
3350  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manga Betting on: May 09, 2021, 06:54:45 AM
Spoilers and leaks will be your biggest enemy when it comes to betting on premade stuff like manga and comics. This has also happened in the past with voting polls for which character would the audience readers want to kill off in a comic chapter, like what happened in DC Comics in the 80s. Sometimes the outcome is already in front of the viewers faces that it is almost for certain that you'd win, so I don't think these type of betting, although novel, will flourish.

Spoilers are definitely a risk but this should mostly concern the bookmaker. He needs to make the odds for which the fans can gamble. The best would be to just cancel one bet if there is some material information being leaked. It is hard to proof who has access to such kind of information and who doesn't. So as long as we make sure that no one profits and no one loses from it we would be fine. Still making odds on those kind events seems very difficult but the demand is definitely there.
3351  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where to seek help if you need; concerned with gambling addiction. on: May 09, 2021, 06:50:35 AM
I think the first step with any addiction is to realise you have a problem. This can come either through friends and family who are concerned or from your own realisation. Once we identify a problem with gambling than we try and get better. In my opinion it is best to talk to people who have had the same experience. It is much easier for them to understand your problems and fear. I came across this forum https://www.gamblingtherapy.org/forum/ where people recovering from addiction can help each other. This is a good way to go.
3352  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin wasn’t created to make you rich. It was created to Enslave U & Track U on: May 09, 2021, 06:43:28 AM
Bitcoin wasn't created for either of the purposed that the title of the thread mentions. And while over the years KYC becomes more common, it's been rightly mentioned that Bitcoin isn't the one to blame for this because it's actually various companies that introduce it. Moreover, transparency and decentralization always seemed to come before anonymity for Bitcoin, and I'm personally okay with this. After all, most of us use bank accounts and have social media profile anyway, so a lot of info about us is available to various people and companies. Bitcoin is just a drop in the ocean, but it does other things pretty well.

It's probably just a thread against bitcoins on an attempt to lower the price. It can become very frustrating when we want to hold bitcoins but can't afford to buy at the current price level. I think we all l or that bitcoins are here to track it enslave us. It's exactly the opposite, we have more freedom and anonymity with bitcoins compared to fiat money.
3353  Economy / Economics / Re: COVID advanced the world into the future on: May 08, 2021, 04:44:33 PM
Well, it forced people into going online for education, work and everything else. Which is a good thing, because there were many conservative countries in the world including mine which believed internet and phones are distractions and that memorizing from a book is the only true solution which is not. Now, we are forced to take online classes which will surely impact the future covid free country too when we won't view it with the same perception!

I am very surprised how well my parents adapted to the new normal. Both my mum and dad are very bad with PCs and cell phones, but still video calls is no problem for them anymore. They won't even stop since meeting them is allowed anymore. As for online education I think that it's no problem on a university level. Students are more prepared to study by themselves than school kids. At a high school level it seems to be more difficult. I noticed from my nephew that the amount of text book they are covering now online is much lower than it was before when they still went to school. It becomes also much harder to discuss homework.
3354  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do I need to pay Tax on my Crypto Gambling Winnings? A guide on: May 08, 2021, 04:38:53 PM
@OP, I didn't get a hold of a few things that I'd like to openly ask here:

What if a gambler cheats the tax system by saying that he lost more and his tax amount doesn't come in the slab provided so he won't pay anything?

What to do when the price of the crypto we play with (let's say dogecoin) rises over 500-1000% during that one year itself and you've also made more than 100x your bankroll by gambling? How will you deal with it?

What if a gambler decides to keep his crypto or just sell it and keep USDT with him or sell some stake and keep both, but doesn't disclose anything to their tax man? Because online casinos which are crypto based, hardly ask for SSN numbers even at the time of verification I guess. So how will these organisations be able to catch the gambler here?

This might depend on the country but I don't think we get a tax credit for losing in a casino. Gambling is different from investing. If we sell assets with a loss than we can make this loss counted against future winnings and don't have to pay taxes. But we need to show statements that we actually bought and sold at lower prices for us.

I think profits are only taxable once we convert them back into fiat. So as long as we just hold doge coin or another coin we don't need to pay taxes. This is because we don't gain any fiat money until we sell the coins again to pay the tax balance.

Wow that is a long time now, I hope you still have all our coins from back in the day. I am not even close with 2016 and even took a 2 year break. I would count myself to the youngsters.
3356  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: You won today, but then you will lose often on: May 08, 2021, 04:23:08 PM
You have to control your emotions when it comes to gambling don't be discouraged. The result does not directly depend on the player's strategy or skill although bets are not controllable the player realizes that they are it is a fact that can lead to their misuse it is better to stop gambling if the amount of damage is high if the trader the participating gambler is respectful of the rules he can legally run a profitable casino business. Going forward with your own experience will not always be profitable even if it is a loss we have try to overcome it with alternative steps.

All the casino games have an negative expected value for the gambler. This so called House edge is what makes casino profitable. But this doesn't mean that we are always going to lose money. It only means that if we gamble long enough we will lose more games than we win. We as gamblers can't change that, but what we can change is how much money we lose and how much money we win. Our goal should be to win more that we lose by changing our bet size.
3357  Other / Politics & Society / Re: SpaceX and the prospects of Mars colonization. on: May 07, 2021, 11:44:37 AM

There won't be fuel to accelerate/decelerate to create gravity.

What has been proposed are rotating starships. But that has not been adopted yet by SpaceX.

And there will remain the problem of the low (about 1/3) gravity on Mars, the radiation, the perchlorate on the martian soil, the need to import most of the goods, etc.

It's obvious that Space X and Musk deserves respect. My posts couldn't be clearer about it. He is going to Mars and there will be small bases there. Major achievement.

These might be big problems at first but I think that the human body can adapt to the new environment over time. It might take a few hundred tears but our body could get used to lower gravity. The only problem would be if Uhr people from Mars would like to come back to earth. So far it seems that the travel and living in a mars colony is going to be a one way travel. Better take out family with us. Or make a new family over there.
3358  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An alternative to Poker on: May 07, 2021, 11:39:41 AM
Maybe you can try Chinese Poker, Tong its or Indian Poker, they all need players and they require some luck and skill. Indian Poker is especially skill based because there is only have two cards and you don't know your other card so it basically is a mind games.

I heard that short deck poker is the biggest new trend of poker variant in Asia. It is quite similar to usual no limit holdem but the strategies are different. In Western casino not many people play it. It is probably just a matter of time until it comes to all casinos around the world. If we start to get familiar with such new variants directly at the start of the hype we should be able to get an edge on other players and make decent profit.
3359  Economy / Economics / Re: Warren Buffett says he's sees ‘very substantial inflation’ and rising prices on: May 07, 2021, 11:32:42 AM
Consumer inflation in the US will increase, but it won't become hyperinflation.
Going from 1,8% to 2,3% is not a big deal. The real inflation will happen in the US financial markets.
Economists and businessmen in the US were expecting growing inflation over the last 10 years.Such big inflation never happened, but the people keep talking about the US dollar doing down,in terms of value.
Another interesting question is will the USA "export inflation" like they did back in 2011,when the increased levels of inflation in the middle east, combined with increased poverty and unemployment caused the revolutions in Egypt,Libya,Tunisia,Syria and other countries.

The problem with these inflation number are they are just an average across many products. We consumer might feel it much differently than it is being reported. Especially rising food prices are already a big problem in today's time. On top of that we still don't get any interest on our savings account. The jump from 1.8 to 2.3 will hurt a lot the fiat savers. That is why owning crypto becomes so important.
3360  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is Elon Musk's goal with Dogecoin? on: May 07, 2021, 11:19:04 AM
Do you think he does it because he wants to make money? Do you think he speculates with Dogecoin?

I am wondering if he will keep tweeting about after the bull market is over.

I don't think he wants to make money, he is already filthy rich and has other things in mind. I think he is very interested in the Internet and crypto currencies, so buying them is just natural for him. On top of that I heard him say that he doesn't want to own many things like houses or cars. So somewhere he needs to put all his money, so spreading it crypto currencies is fine.
