2621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When and how did you discover Bitcoin? on: December 23, 2021, 02:28:59 PM

So how about you, when and how did you discover bitcoin? What were your initial thoughts?  Did you think negatively of it at first discovery and change your mind, or did you always think it was a great idea?

I also don't exactly remember when I first heard about bitcoins. It might have been online in an article or from a friend. But I do remember when I decided I want to get involved with bitcoins. It was in 2016, I made a few lucky bets with my CSGO skins and got scared that I have too much money on my steam account. When I looked for sites to sell my skins I noticed that the withdrawal options included bitcoins, which was faster and without any real fees compared to credit card transactions. After seeing that I really wanted to learn more about BTC and crypto currencies. This was also when I first found out about this forum.
2622  Economy / Economics / Re: The Danger of Local Economy. on: December 21, 2021, 09:44:04 AM

Can Bitcoin really weaken the Local Currencies in the Developing Nations?

I am sure that bitcoins can influence the local currencies of developing nations. But if this is actually weaking or more a strengthening remains to be seen. Of course the IMF is against crypto currencies because he can't go to national governments and ask for crypto money to lend out to troubled countries. For developing countries with weak local currencies I think they will get positive effects from crypto investments. For example if a country struggles with inflation their currency will fall, but their investment in crypto currencies will not be affected. Its a good way to reduce the dependency on the local economy.
2623  Economy / Speculation / Re: Supercycle or Halving cycle still? on: December 21, 2021, 09:37:25 AM
Not sure if the halving cycle is going to continue like that. The biggest drops came from the first three hangings, but now the majority of Bitcoin's are already mined. The amount of btc miners get is very small now, which means that the price can't drop too low, otherwise mining won't be profitable anymore. All the large mining farms have a certain minium price for electricity, hardware and Internet. So if BTC ever drops too low we wouldn't see any new coins coming to the market. That is why the halving cycle should be not so dominant anymore.
2624  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [BOXING] Logan Paul vs Mike Tyson on: December 21, 2021, 09:23:06 AM
These publicity matches are always hard to analyse beforehand, but looking at the results here most of us seem to go with Mike Tyson. Not sure if this match is going to be gigged. Logan Paul is in it for publicity and fame. Even if he loses he will have achieved that. Mike Tyson is more in it for the money and with all his experience he will not give up easily.  Honestly I wish we could have seen Mike Tyson to fight these YouTubers during his prime time. All the fights would have ended in a knockout, would have been hilarious.

2626  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Dont get sad over what could have been on: December 20, 2021, 12:09:18 PM

If you had cryptos in the past and could have made lots, to kick yourself over it. If you get caught up over what could have been, you will go insane. So focus on the current time. Good luck!

That is probably one of the most trading recommendation we can try and follow. Together with not trade based on your emotions thess are the two tips I try and keep in mind every time I check my coins.
It's hard to control my thoughts and drift into the what could have been scenarios. When looking at very successful alt coins my brain always asks why didn't I invest in them. Unfortunately we can't turn back time and there will always be better decision we could have done. But we need to look to the future and should learn from our mistakes, not wishing we never had done them in the first place.
2627  Economy / Gambling / Re: Very immoral marketing strategy. on: December 20, 2021, 11:50:26 AM

The argument they provide is as follow, ''we are entertainers/performers''. This need to be stopped. I am creating this thread to discuss such issues and to warn other new comers about the potential loss. If you have found such streamers please post here so that it can be helpful for new players to make realistic decisions.

Unfortunaley this is still very common today. Streamers seem to abuse the fact that they seem much more approachable than the average TV program. During breaks we instantly know when advertisings are running and when they stop. During streams it's not so easy to see, there might be a small symbol appearing in the corner of the stream, but it's not always clear. Streamers don't really need to state when they are paid to show casino games. That's why we as gamblers should be very careful on believing what we see online. Most of the big winnings are rigged and not really fair. When it comes to Youtube and streaming we should have the same critical thinking as when watching ads on TV.
2628  Economy / Economics / Re: I think most people still trust the USD more than Bitcoin on: December 20, 2021, 09:20:47 AM

On the other hand, most people think that Bitcoin reaching one million dollars is ludicrous.

Combining these two ideas, I get the impression that most people still believe more in the USD than Bitcoin.

I think it comes down to who do we ask. If we ask crypto investors in what they believe more, the majority will say BTC. But if we ask the average person on the street it might be an older person who believes more into USD. For the old generations when it comes to money they need to feel it, have a physical wallet in their pockets with cash. Over the time this will change. I like the 1 million comparison. It might seem like a big stretch right now. But who would have thought when bitcoins were at 100 or 1,000 USD that it would go above 60,000? I am sure we will see much higher levels. Its just a matter of time.
2629  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Btc hodlers vs short time traders on: December 20, 2021, 09:10:55 AM
Sorry but hodlers who buy with dca method are the winners in this game.
Dollar cost average is by far one of the best methods many dont like it as they dont have patience.
We the people want to see results always too fast if not we not interested only few the handful can really do the buy the dips combined mixed with dca style buying.

I fully agree with you, the investors who bought over the last few years regularly bitcoins and held them made the most return. Sure when you see the price chart and you would have always bought below 35,000 USD and sold above 60,000  would have made a much higher return. But how do you know the levels before hand? We can't. After the rally at the start of the year I told myself if BTC ever drops below 20,000 USD again I would sell all my stocks and investment funds and would buy bitcoins. Unfortunately it didn't drop so low. Just holding is the best approach in my opinion.
2630  Economy / Economics / Re: Sharing and helping others on: December 19, 2021, 08:47:02 AM
For me this forum is the best about crypto currencies. Almost all of the things I know about cryptos comes from here. There are so many different people here, from all around the world with so many different backgrounds. This forum is great way for beginners, intermediate and experts in cryptos to share their problems and solution. I am grateful to be part of such a nice community.
As for Christmas it's hard for me to find good presents. My cousin asked me a lot about bitcoins this year, for him I will setup a small walket with some BTC as gift. Maybe I can convince him to join this forum as well.
2631  Economy / Economics / Re: Indonesia's 0% Tax on foreigners and digital nomads on: December 19, 2021, 08:30:17 AM
Seems like Indonesia just found a way to attract "the money" into their country. Not yet sure what this entails but I suspect Crypto users may still get taxed. What Indonesia needs to do now is upgrade their Internet infrastructure so that digital nomads and crypto traders can settle there.

Great news, I love Indonesia and going with the flow of innovation is remarkable. This could mean a lot of tourism and expat increase in their nice areas. Who wouldn't want to live in a house directly at the beach and finance it all with crypto currencies. Or imagine creating some crypto flat sharing on Bali. Renting out individual rooms with a full crypto trader setup for a vacation plus good aceess to the market. All it would take is some decent house with modern PCs and high speed Internet access. Especially for the next look down this would be perfect.
2632  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Slots 101: Basics, Strategies, and Discussion (with poll) on: December 19, 2021, 08:23:54 AM

Do you mean not even single scatter in 150 spins? Frankly I cant believe it, but it is possible although the the chance to not hit even a single scatter in 150 spins is so low. What slot you are referring to? I have never experienced such bad streak without a scatter, a scatter should be easy to come but scatters (3-5) as a requirement to get the free spins is harder.

Not even one scatter Symbole in 150 spins seems very unlucky. Not sure what the chances are up get a scatter but it's definitely higher than than in his last session. It seems that chances for getting 5 scatters is  0.000016, so very low. But the chances to get 3 scatters is much higher. Pretty sure if he would play another 150 spins he would get all the scatters he missed out previously. I  not really playing so much spots lately but I tend to always get a some bonuses. Free spins are usually programmed into the games and come after a certain number of spins. For a casino having free spins for slots is a good way to keep players engaged and interested for more.

2634  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the fundamental goal of bitcoin on: December 18, 2021, 02:12:15 PM
Unfortunately you can only pick one point out of your list. I wanted to choose "To provide alternative to traditional currencies" and "To provide freedom". In my opinion bitcoins were not created to replace traditional currencies, but rather to provide an alternative and reduce the pressure on fiat money.
With bitcoins and other crypto currencies we have a lot of freedom compared to highly regulated fiat currencies. When bitcoins first came out most of us wouldn't have believed how far bitcoins will come in such a short period of time. The only problem that I see is that governments are still trying to figure out ways on to deal with bitcoins. The freedom we have now could be limited in the future through thougher oversight and regulations.
2635  Economy / Economics / Re: Did you realize in real life how Bitcoin gave us financial freedom? on: December 18, 2021, 02:02:49 PM
So far I didn't full realise my financial freedom yet. Crypto currencies are a big part of my investments, the rise in crypto prices shows the power of a decentralised financial system. But to reach freedom I need to buy physical things again. The most important one is probably owning a house. Only after living in my own 4 walls without paying back a bank loan I could fully feel financial freedom. Even if we make decent money with cryptos, as long as we need to pay large monthly bills in fiat money are we stuck in the rat race. Escaping the rat race from Robert Kyiosaki would mean freedom for me.
2636  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Playing with dices on: December 18, 2021, 01:43:08 PM
Sounds like a decent trading strategy. You are right that a martingale strategy can fail over time and is not a guarantee for winning. I just wondering did you actually start betting with your strategy or is it just paper simulations?
Saving your earnings seperate from your bankroll is a good approach to avoid going bankrupt and losing all money to start again. I just wonder how much money you made on average per day and how many times did you actually lose your 150 doge coin? Both pattern analysis and martingale are no winning strategy. In the long run the casinos has its house edge. So the longer we play and the more games we have the higher the chances to go bust. Its important to keep the potential winnings in mind compared to the total bankroll. Having a chance to win 20% with the risk of losing it all is not great.
2637  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Fast place/cancel trades question on: December 17, 2021, 10:13:10 AM
Hello Gurus of trading Smiley

I am curious about the following:
Sometimes, I notice that a trade is placed in the orderbook and then the next second is canceled, then placed again etc and the process repeats.

Obviously this is a bot, but what is the point of this?  Is this a trading strategy?

Yes this is a trading strategy by bots that try to influence the market price and trade against it. I am not an expert on this, but I remember the story of the flash crash in 2010 where a single trader from the suburbs of London managed to destroy trading in 30 minutes. Very interesting story I can recommend watching a documentary about it. He basically created millions of buy and sell orders through his bot but cancelled them before they get executed. This is very risky if you don't have the best equipment and technology. Also the exchange might block you if they find your actions harmful.
2638  Economy / Economics / Re: Robert Kiyosaki expects a market crash and economic crisis - do you believe it? on: December 17, 2021, 10:05:33 AM

Do you think that a market crash similar to 2008 is indeed coming? If yes, then why? What are the indicators your follow to predict the market in general? Let's assume the crash is indeed coming then how would you like to prepare against it?

Let's discuss!

Predicting the next financial crisis is very hard, because we not only need to identify the area where the crash is coming from but also the timing. We could be right about the crash but be 2 years too early with our prediction, if we position our whole portfolio for a crash might lose money until the crash actually happens.
I don't believe that there is crash coming any time soon. We have been in this covid mess for 2 years now and the crash didn't happen. The covid recovery should have a positive impact on the economy. However I could be wrong, so having assets like gold, silver and crypto currencies would be good to protect us from a crash. Another investment that makes sense is real estate. If we own the apartment we live in than a crash will hurt us not as bad. Saving the monthly rent payments is helping a lot on difficult times.
2639  Local / Trading und Spekulation / Re: Bitcoin vs. Alts 2021 on: December 17, 2021, 09:38:56 AM
2640  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If I had bought bitcoin 10 years ago, I would have been a millionaire: Not true on: December 17, 2021, 09:18:35 AM
The reality is that they would not have been able to hold for so long even if they bought 10 years ago. Very few have the patience to wait till 100x or more. Most of the investors will be sold at the idea of 2x or 3x itself. Some of the people that were able to hold for so long were those who had invested and then completely forgot about it. There is one more category of people who had complete trust on BTC and thus they stick with it for years.

Exactly my problem when I first started out with bitcoins. That was 5 and not 10 years ago but unfortunately I also got blindsided by the short term profits of Bitcoin's. Back in the days I used bitcoins a lot to buy and sell CSGO skins, but when I had enough of trading skins and I wanted to collect all my profits I did the same with bitcoins. This was my biggest investment mistake I ever made selling all my coins. At the time it was a nice profit and I felt very happy, but comparing it to today's prices it was a big mistake.
