If I were PayPal I would be trying to crush bitcoin. Sure they could start using them at a loss of revenue, but why? They have not figured out a way to game the market like they do with grandpa's money.
What I would do is pay people to set up phoney accounts at bitcointalk.org and post disparaging threads about how bitcoin will fail and how only official bank sanctioned money can save you.

Shouldn't make a difference assuming you are paying your taxes. If not then, well... Maybe you'll get lucky or maybe you will go to prison?

I don't know how you can arrive at this conclusion? It flies in the face of basic math and the history anyone can see. I began using bitcoin when they were $0.70 or so. Since then they have gone up thousands and thousands of % points and have been adopted by millions. Clearly and mathematically provably..., greater demand leads to higher prices. 

Cash is already dead. Consider that most of the spending, receiving, and storing you currently do is electronic. Very little is transacted in cash anymore.  The choice is not whether your future money will be electronic, it's about which money you will use.

My advice is don't screw around with faucets or signature campaigns or loans or alt coins. Just set up an account like a grown up, fund it with $200 or so then buy some bitcoin. You are now in a better position to shop online. You have a safer, faster and cheaper option than your credit card has ever been. 

That's an interesting idea. Maybe an insurance company would fund something like this? My wife and I each get $100 per year because we are in a CSA that delivers organic farm products.

It would be great if supply chain adoption happens also, but merchant adoption is the measure of success. If it's accepted broadly then we have money, literally.

Sure, that will work too. Because you have a new account I was unsure about what you know. I personally do not give negative feedback for asking. That seems wrong to me, but since 95% of loan requests from new accounts are scams some people have just become fed up with it.

You might want to consider setting up an exchange account anyway. Loans are a risky and expensive way to get BTC. That is especially true if paying back in BTC. Suppose the price rises 30%?

Na. I go there all the time. I just got back about two months ago from Jordan. I was there when they caught that pilot who was burned alive. But when you are in the mid east you realize how local many of these events are. It's a little like Japanese tourists in the USA. They are often very frightened of gang violence. Convinced that motorcycle gangs will attack the tour bus Mad Max style. When you live in the US you can see how silly that is, even though there are violent gangs here. 

Very few people support DASCH. They are often the butt of jokes and the subject of scorn. People say things like "maybe if we pray for DASCH they'll convert to Islam." Or the guy I met who, upon seeing my beard, asked if I was here to join the Jihad. I told him I tried, but they kicked me out for being "too radical".  You would think that joke is too dark to be funny, but there are a lot of dark Jihadi jokes.

Centralized exchanges and ponzis will stop when people stop giving them money.

I am with you more than you know. I was in the anti-war protests before the Afghan invasion. The war had 80%+ support in America and only about 200 people showed up to protest. When I would say that this might take 20 years people would laugh and say "more like 6 months." That was 14 years ago and we are now further behind than ever.

However the real cost is yet to be counted. In the mid-east your friends and enemies are for life. Because most casualties of war are civilians we have made a lot of enemies. Even when the enemy is the one hurting people many will blame us because we came from halfway around the world to get into their business. We might think it's acceptable to kill a civilian to get to 10 bad dudes, but what if it was your brother? You might just decide that the Americans must pay and join the enemy. What have we gained then?
I would like to see us cut our military in half and start extricating ourselves from being the world police. We aren't any good at it anymore and it is harder than ever to find someone to even side with.
As for taxes... It has been calculated that if 5% of Americans choose to not file it would be impossible for the IRS to process them before the next tax season. What if as a protest we all file 1 month late? Our only real power anymore is that congress and the senate need our money to enrich themselves. It's the only pain they seem to respond to.

One need look no further than "DOUBLE YOUR COINS" to see it's a scam. Why does he need coins if he can "DOUBLE" them? 

I can respect someone objecting to taxes, I don't like how the money gets wasted either. But make no mistake, you are sacrificing yourself for your cause. The court is highly unlikely to grant you the only exception ever made. You will have your clear conscience at the cost of your money and your freedom. For some it may be a better result than involving themselves in something they morally object too. 

I find it difficult to calculate because we don't know how bitcoin will be used in the future. Perhaps in 10 years there will still be at 1.5M users, but 500M machines that use bitcoin every day. Or perhaps a loss of net neutrality will drive BTC underground and lead to only a few hundred black market users.
My best guess is mass adoption and a billion or more users. That seems like a lot, however spread out over the planet it's only like 15%.

An important thing to keep in mind is that bitcoin has never been beyond regulation. Capitol gains is, and has always been, required when you trade something for a value that has appreciated. It does not matter if it's beanie babies or stocks or real estate. There is no tax free money. Of course it may be hard to impossible for the IRS to determine your bitcoin tax liability, but is it worth it to avoid taxes? If you are caught you will owe taxes, penalties, and maybe have some jail time to do. It would be a sad story if you got rich then lost it because you wanted a little more.
