341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 2 new coins in almost 1 day? on: May 10, 2013, 01:33:46 AM
Quick, someone create a pure clone of litecoin with 300 coin block rewards, starting diff of 0, and retarget every 10080 blocks. You'll get rich with your pump and dump!

screw that make a litecoin clone with a 50,000 block reward with a milisecond block generation.

Otherwise known as the US Federal Reserve and the dollar.
342  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitBar network breaks 1GH/sec! on: May 09, 2013, 09:08:22 PM
There is a huge difference in the difficulty calculation. Obviously this hashrate is a spike only - where it settles in the long run is a big question.
At least now we will see which difficulty retarget mechanism is more efficient.

Yup. The bid will have to keep up with the difficulty (if it doesn't, miners jump off, and with bitbar the difficulty should retarget pretty quickly, which should hopefully keep it in the game to some extent).

Also, getting on an additional exchange at some point would help out as well no doubt. Beyond that, it's just whether folks take to BitBar...slow and steady should win the race there....not crashing and burning like FC.
343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / BitBar network breaks 1GH/sec! on: May 09, 2013, 08:50:21 PM
For those who care:

According to http://bitbar.info/stats/index.php

Network hash rate (Gh/s): 1.052 (estimated)

Can you please add BitBar (BTB) as well (traded on Bter.com)?
345  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [TESTING] BitBar PushPool btb.binarycoins.eu [solved] on: May 09, 2013, 05:49:41 PM
hash rate going up quickly..

Jesus! Almost 20BTB a day as well from that crazy hash rate.
346  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ★★ ▀▄▀▄▀ BITBAR on BTER now LIVE ▀▄▀▄▀ ★★ on: May 09, 2013, 05:47:33 PM
I will be holding the ones I have for awhile. No need to sell. I believe bitbar can turn into something decent, especially once it runs through the psychological (and price) barrier at 1BTB:1BTC on the exchanges. I made enough decent money on Feathercoin and Chinacoin, hah!

YAC is another one to watch, especially if it keeps its CPU-only advantage (or if it goes to GPU and the GPUs aren't very much more efficient, as the author claims will be the case).

Speaking of psychological barriers...the word "bar" is shear genius.  People knocking this because it doesn't have infrastructure...I just laugh...Bitcoin's had 4 years...this has had what...4 days...and the roads have been paved by bitcoin...this is a hit waiting to happen...and the press coverage...oh the media...this will build hype for the whole community.

I'm going to pop some tags people...only 20 bars in my pocket...thanks for selling so cheap yesterday...mining only got me like 0.7, and I've been at it for four days before the network rate tripled!

I agree this could be a hit in the media once we get bitbar up to a certain adoption (i.e. on a few exchanges, stable/rising price that is higher per unit than BTC, etc). Journalists love a novel thing like that .... "Bitcoins expands into bars"

From MinCoin to BitBar, and now the logical conclusion: OneCoin. Hah!

351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [YAC]: YaCoin Information Thread on: May 09, 2013, 03:21:30 PM
I wanted to put together this info thread on YaCoin to help others learn about it and centralize all info on it in one place. Please feel free to reply to it and suggest anything that could be added or modified. I've modeled this page after the LiteCoin information thread here.

If this list if helpful to you, please consider sending a donation to Y2e1VP9ZpwYCbVMk7RRhGDLwRKyuQwjzGQ. Thanks!

The [YAC] YaCoin Information Thread

What Makes YaCoin different than other AltCoins?

* Currently the only CPUMined coin (with all other altcoins, CPUMining has become unprofitable as GPUs, FPGAs and/or ASICs can do it much more efficiently.
  * Means that anyone can get involved with mining YAcoins. You don't need a fancy AMD video card, and a complex miner program with a lot of technical know-how
  * This may also mean that the YaCoin coin distribution is and/or will be more widespread, and thus more democratic (this is speculation at this point)
  * Also means that YaCoin could see a larger, more sustainable network hashrate, as miners can co-mine it along with GPU-based coins
* PoS and PoW (long-term power efficiency)
* Ultra-fast confirmations
* A reasonably good developer (pacopaco) and an enthusiastic community

The creator of yacoin (pocopoco) states the following about any potential move of GPUs over to mine YaCoin:
"it is possible to develop OpenCl or cuda miner for scrypt(N, 1, 1). But the CPU / GPU hashrate difference will be less than 10 times and will decrease over time. So GPU's contribution into miner's total hashrate (even in case somebody will implement this) will be like one or two additional CPU cores. This is because scrypt will need more and more fast random access memory with N increased." (Source)

Bter is the dirty slut of exchanges, she'll open her legs soon enough.

That's why I love her...always down for a fun time for a few dorah.

Getting over 1BTC per 1BTB will be a major psychological milestone for this currency. I think it will be the first altcoin to cross it.
357  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BTB] The BitBar Information Thread on: May 09, 2013, 11:30:23 AM
BitBar is now the highest rated coin on coinchoose.com! Network hash speed is currently around 843MH!
358  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ★★ ▀▄▀▄▀ BITBAR on BTER now LIVE ▀▄▀▄▀ ★★ on: May 09, 2013, 11:25:54 AM
It's at the top of coinchoose. Hash rate has shot up to 843MH.
359  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN]: YaCoin [YAC] Giveaway! on: May 09, 2013, 04:10:09 AM
wait so nu being one if the first we get less?

I've given 200 more YAC so that hopefully everyone that posted before this point can get 3 YAC more. Would like it to be as fair as possible....if it isn't too much of a pain since limitless is being so kind with his time on this.
