341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][ICOIN] iCoin - Next generation coin for online payment on: January 02, 2014, 08:03:44 AM
Wanted to point out that I noticed a typo in the iCoin wallet app. I'm a Mac user, so I'm emulating Windows. When I resume Windows from a saved state, a message will pop up in the iCoin wallet stating that the date and time need to be correct. I forget the exact phrasing but it mentions "LinkCoin" instead of "iCoin" in the error message. I can capture the exact error the next time it comes up.

Thanks I will make sure Captainhook and the dev team are made aware of it.
342  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.3 Released MANDATORY UPDATE on: January 02, 2014, 07:38:57 AM
Difficulty adjusting algo can be changed to counter multi pools. Its called "anti multi pool patch" or "anti flash mining patch". Some scrypt coins already have, DOGE will get it sooner or later.

With multi pools stopped, DOGE value will raise.

Exactly this.

By 2015 the price could be 1000 a coin because no new coins will be produced, the multipool miners are in control of the price now, meaning it will keep going on a downward trend until
the block rewards are finally halved. This occurs around April sometime.
343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ♥♥♥ [ICOIN] MEGA REWARD for ICOIN MINERS ♥♥♥ on: January 02, 2014, 04:58:13 AM
Well I just found one blocK... which turned to be orphaned.
The fist one I got so far and it has to be the only orphan I've seen since I'm mining Icoin...
Of course...

So I guess it does not qualify for the reward?

Jiyome if it contributed towards the block count you will get rewarded.

Only 155 blocks to go before the promotion is over, not too late to get in and earn some really generous rewards.
344  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [ICOIN] iCoin Buy/Sell Spreadsheet on: January 02, 2014, 04:48:36 AM
I am willing to sell some of my IC but to investors that are going to keep it for long term as 2014 is going to be a big year for the coin.
Please PM me if interested.

Unfortunately I won't be selling any of my iCoins but there are more then enough willing sellers in here, Please be careful when doing trades we haven't had a incident yet
with iCoin but the more scammers see value in the coin the more I expect some attempts before it hits the live exchanges.

345  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Overstock the 1st US retailer for BTC payment. What retailer do you want next? on: January 02, 2014, 04:38:47 AM
Newegg.

346  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [ICOIN] iCoin Buy/Sell Spreadsheet on: January 02, 2014, 04:27:24 AM
Will it be on btc-e anytime soon?

Not at this stage dorom, btc-e requires big volumes because there is just so much funds available on that exchange. We are targetting the smaller exchanges for a release
within 2-3 months or so. As you can see it takes time to mine these coins and we want some liquidity in the market before in hits the exchanges.

More importantly we want to get iCoins name out there and to have value for it besides the normal "insert coin name here to dump" .

One of the mistakes new alt coins make is rushing to get on the exchanges only makes it a instant dump coin leaving investors with a sour taste in there mouths.

Everything from name to block rewards and time has been thought out with a balance between miner and investor which will benefit both creating a less volatile coin which
the industry seriously needs at this stage.

I really like what I am seeing regarding the memes coming through, also lololol3 input.
348  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most Promising Altcoins for 2014 on: January 01, 2014, 08:23:22 PM
The coins with a dedicated community

Got to agree. All the crapcoins that get buried under pages after just a day or two aren't even worth talking about.

I find it interesting that more people are thinking that more centralized form of virtual currency is the next big thing. Not saying it's a good or bad thing but these coins where distribution is totally in the hands of the developers/founders resembles more like our fiat banking system...

The advantage is more effort will go into the coin because the people involved in NXT,Skycoin,Ripple etc have so much more personal gain to have from it's success.

The disadvantage is you have to trust them totally with how they handle said coin...

Those coins seem to have a lot more PR buzz around them. Lots of nice sounding terminologies.

The power is really in there hands... the whole purpose of bitcoin was freedom from centralization. I can see 3rd Gen being a copy and paste of our current fiat banking system if 2nd Gen
currencies are anything to go by.

why only promote for 'big' miners. Useless for me with my 700k Sad

Incase you missed Captainhooks post above

"Will have event for smaller miners.

We will calculate and give out reward at 11:00:00 AM everyday!"

@boxuser, if you look at the main iCoin thread, everyone received there giveaways so far. The last thing we want to do is give anyone the impression it's another scam coin.
If this was the case we would of had it on the exchanges already dumping out Smiley
351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.3 Released MANDATORY UPDATE on: January 01, 2014, 07:50:27 PM

Too much dump for a moon landing atm. Miners market = buyers market. Sellers market 2015.

352  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ♥♥♥ [ICOIN] MEGA REWARD for ICOIN MINERS ♥♥♥ on: January 01, 2014, 07:43:08 PM
Your MH x 500 ICOIN for 24 hours mining continously at least 16/24 hours.

Thank you. Joined with 1.4MH/s, and it shows my speed anywhere between 1.1 and 1.9.

The Vardiff on the pool keeps changing to try get more out of your hashing power.

Just over 200 blocks to go before promotion is over, you still have time to switch for 24 hours to get bonus IC, you won't regret it when the coin goes on live exchanges.
353  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][ICOIN] iCoin - Next generation coin for online payment on: January 01, 2014, 07:35:15 PM
nobody interested in buying icoins?
i sell my 104 icoins for 0,01BTC; pm me.

Hey Matey,

Please go to the exchange thread to try sell your iCoins.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=390996.0

We will be looking to put the coin on the online exchanges when the time is right.
354  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][ICOIN] iCoin - Next generation coin for online payment on: January 01, 2014, 03:22:40 PM
Is this coin a crazy design? the block time and diff retarget?

Hey Crypto,

Good question...

The idea behind the block time and diff retarget was to find a balance between miner and investor value and to also have a large supply incoming well into the future with the 500 million total
coin production.

We believe this will hold the coins value up by not flooding the market with them before value added services come into play.

You have seen the effect this has had on Dogecoins value where miners are dumping the coin because 90% of the time it's the most profitable to mine.

With iCoin we don't the value to come from it's use rather then a coin to dump into btc, in the long run this will be beneficial to both miner and investor.

355  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][ICOIN] iCoin - Next generation coin for online payment on: January 01, 2014, 02:56:24 PM
We do have a final date set for logo entries, Captainhook will announce this later but it will most likely end sometime this week.
356  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][ICOIN] iCoin - Next generation coin for online payment on: January 01, 2014, 02:44:21 PM

This logo looks absolutely incredible. I'd vote for this one.

Excellent job Cointopic!

Remember it's not too late to get your logos in for nominations.
357  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ♥♥♥ [ICOIN] MEGA REWARD for ICOIN MINERS ♥♥♥ on: January 01, 2014, 12:56:24 PM
Nice one Captain, this is a great promotion... logo poll will be going up soon aswell, so we invite the community to vote for a logo that will be as good as the coins name.
358  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Why Doesn't Anyone See The Obvious Here? on: January 01, 2014, 11:43:32 AM
Why is nobody contesting the obvious...?

Endless 2% inflation?  And who gets that wealth?  Developers?  For the "public good" of course.

"- All coins are created in genesis block." (Effectively a 100% premine.)

"- The coins will be distributed in a fair, open process."  (Fair and open according to who?)

Did we easily forget Google's "Don't be evil".

It took less then a decade for any semblance of that motto to die.

A coin should not rely on us to trust anyone.  The algorithm should ensure that.

If we are trusting these guys to "fairly distribute" the coins, and fairly allocate the 2% inflation (robbery) of those holding the coins, then how is this any different then trusting a central banker?

Skycoin as it stands is violating very basic tenants fundamental to what cryto currencies are all about.

Skycoin guys... go back to the drawing board.  Get rid of the endless inflation.  Get rid of what amounts to a 100% premine.  Get rid of any need for us to trust you.  Then you might have something.

So yeah these self proclaiming 2nd generation coins sound more like Centralized Virtual Currencies, the opposite ideals as to why bitcoin was created in the 1st place.

359  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SKY] Skycoin Launch Announcement on: January 01, 2014, 06:38:02 AM
Hey Devs, how about you answer the friggin question so we know whether or not we want to waste our time on your coin.

How are the coins generated?

Thats a pretty simple question and should be explained from the start.
It seems like you are purposely not explaining this concept for some reason.
Sounds fishy.
Could possibly be some centralized coin distribution like Ripple.

Also, to everyone saying "oh this is new! this is different! this could work!", adding a fifth wheel to a car is new and different. It's also not better. New does not always equal better. You know what is better? Better is better.
These devs have a lot of explaining to do and they shouldn't be waiting until the minute of the launch to do so.

Bump this shit! How are coins generated??

If this works out these guys are gonna be extremely rich. Like central bankers.
360  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin Investment questions answered! on: January 01, 2014, 03:11:50 AM
i'm not mad.

it's just funny that seeing people thinking that dogecoin might have a chance and increase its value 1000x or more.

i said this before, but dogecoin is like the fisher price toys....well, "fisher price my first cryptocurrency"

shopdoge.com

Look the more people that have access to something the more value in services for that particular product.
