Once again, these cards are only two weeks old and have been mining for less than a week so they are practically new.
Used is used doesn't matter if you opened it but never used it or if its been running for 2 months. Any item you purchase will always lose value the moment it is used. Plus buying through a company will allow you to return if something is wrong. If you buy on here sales are final. I believe 185 is an acceptable but not optimal price for new. If you can sell these for 185 all the power to you but expect them to sit for awhile at that price. Care to link us where you picked these up for 145?
The deal has long since expired but here is the link. http://www.ncixus.com/products/60714/11162-15-20G/SAPPHIRE/It was all over the mining forums when it was available though.

No need to get so defensive I was just giving my opinion. A week ago I picked up 5 5850's for 145 each brand new so deals are out there. I just don't think there would be interest for 200. The people who are looking to buy mining equipment now are trying to find good deals. There isn't a mad dash to get started as soon as possible like there use to be.

Going from 11.6 to 11.7 stopped my freezing when I lowered my 5850's mem to below 500

200 is a bit much for a used 5850. These normally go for 145-175 retail and its not like theres a high demand for cards atm the difficulty is already set to drop for the first time since before june.

You'll probably have to update your prices bitcoins went up like 2 dollars in the last 6 hours.
So what's your guess now? I'm 100% certain it wont be 2.38 mill next difficulty change.

I'll offer 1 dollar for a year contract

Right now OC'd at 900/600/1.125 with TRIX. My 5850 is a XFX. I was trying out this new OC setup and my card crashed while I was typing this. Idk what's wrong with my card but it seems that it just can't stand having a 900mhz clock at 1.125 voltage, I need to pump it up to 1.150 so my card won't crash. Also, it hashes around 350mh/s @ 900. Yeah, I think I just got a god damn crappy batch.
Lowering the mem clock to around 300 should help. If it becomes unstable below 600 try a different version of its drivers. I switch from 11.6 to 11.7 and from afterburner to trixx and that fixed all my problems.

Nice logic... I'm sure people are running to add capacity to the network now that it's going to drop 8%... Who cares that the price of bitcoins has fallen like 30% since the last difficulty. You can get more coins now!!! They aren't worth as much as before the difficulty started dropping, but still... More coins!!!
I'm not going to add any more miners for awhile but If you think bitcoins is going to be successful in the long run there's nothing wrong with this thinking. Just don't expect good profits short term.
I'm curious what would cause afterburner to not work but trixx to work perfectly fine?
The hash rate has barely risen over the past few weeks so it seems we're well past the moment where GPU mining is attractive.
I'm sure if we ever have another spike where bitcoins surges to 30 dollars we will see a huge difficulty increase where people run to buy every ati card possible.

Yea that doesn't look like the greatest psu. It's also possible the extra fans are draining a lot. I'm using the aluminum case that is stickied in the hardware section and it doesn't require extra fans.

i had issues like this as well and ended up going to a 900w psu. those 5830s are power hungry especially when over clocked. i know lots og people say 600 or 700 is enough for two or the rule of thumb for btc mining is 200w per card plus 150 for mobo, memory... but for my 6 systems i needed about 250 or more per 5830. just my 2 cents
I'm not sure if your 5830's are just power hungry or what but I have a rig of 4 5830's that pull a little over 900 watts and they are all overclocked to go 330 megahash a sec. I know it pulls a little over 900 because I have a kilowatt meter.
It could be drivers crashing? Try running it while not overclocked and see if it still does that. Also you might want to adjust your settings 900/300 gives me at least 370 megahash and I have the same card as you. I cant remember the specific number though.

In case anyone was wondering going from 11.6 to 11.7 fixed things. I guess I'll just have to deal with the extra heat.
I tried trixx again since I changed to 11.7 yesterday and haven't tried trixx since the change. That fixed everything. I still cant use afterburner though it makes the cards extremely unstable. I'm running at 940/325 and I get 390

Yea I just got the sapphire extremes from ncixus for 145. Anything below 500 tends to freeze the entire computer You say the new bios for the 5850 may be more restrictive? How hard would it be to flash to an older version and would I risk bricking them?
Do you guys have to change the voltage to get the memory so low? On stock voltages I have a really hard time with anything less then 500.

Mining is a job for some people (the big players) - basically anyone that's not just doing for kicks. It takes time and it takes money, and they're doing it for the sole purpose of earning $$$.
I have to agree with you this last rig I built has been very temperamental and I've spent quite a few hours working on it. I wouldn't even call myself a big player I only have about 3ghash. Once everything is up though it should be smooth sailing and very little maintenance required.

i remember a post somewhere on ocnet. Basically, the 24 pin provides enough power for 2 PCIE slots. Basically, if you want to use more cards with stability, you need additional power (such as a molex) whether it be on the mobo or on a extender.
I run 4 5830's and they are completely stable. These 5850's though freak out at just about everything so you have to walk around delicately.
