Since the thread seems to be moving a bit, I suggest everyone to join https://altsino.com/ and gamble a bit with your PRT Smiley

It is enough of a gamble just mining them!
Ok, you done now? I believe you expressed your point of view in many ways already.

Welcome to crypto investing.

Mined this 24 hours and got over 1 million coins. It's definitely shades of DOGE from December. Tongue

I like it, but a 1 billion premine means that this won't go anywhere unless a significant portion of that is distributed fairly. The 666 million premine from SaturnCoin and lack of distribution caused it to pretty much go DOA. That's now worth 5 satoshi on a 3rd rate exchange with no volume (aka worthless).

The easiest way to distribute imo would be to have one giant lottery for all miners. Distribute it so that everyone wins something, with the highest getting maybe 10M coins? And the lowest 1000? Keep 100-250M of that original 1B stash for yourselves (making it effectively a much more reasonable 0.1-0.25% premine, but I'd lean towards 0.1% for a 100B total coin) and if this coin goes places you'll have a solid 10... 20... 30 BTC worth and etc. Otherwise you'll run into the same problem that SaturnCoin dev found - can't dump even "2 BTC worth" without it going to or even below 1 satoshi.
Actually the best way to use that premine is through marketing.

This is how coins with good potential are dying. Dev spent a lot of time to make perfect wallet, but miners left it already. It's sad.

Not dead yet, but it isn't healthy either.

It is still being mined, the difficulty is much lower than it was so that means miners are leaving. (varies from about 800 to 1500 many times throughout the day.)  In a few weeks the block awards will be cut from 180 to 90 and probably more will give up on trying to mine this dog.   It is out of balance.   If there were lots of transactions then there could be transaction fees that make up the difference but so far there isn't really anything that can be done with the coin.  That is why you need lots of miners that want to see the coin succeed.   Once all the miners are gone, there won't be any new blocks or transactions.

I don't think this was the intent.   I also don't believe the line about miners having too much control, that is complete and utter nonsense.   If anything is to be learned it is that this pseudo-instamine that was used here with the first 10,000 blocks getting 1/2 of all the coins, isn't a healthy approach.
In your opinion.

Like many cryptos a couple weeks ago Particle had an unhealthy boom out of nowhere for no reason other than DOGE, MOON and TIPS were being pumped.  We went from 40 to 500 in a couple days and have been pretty steady now ~200+/-.  If it wasn't for the bump skewing things 150-200 is still a pretty decent climb in a few weeks.  Even 100 would be nice.

Most interesting is the lack of trade volume the last week or so.  With most alt coins I have seen a continued volume of trading all the way down down down.  With PRT we climbed and then just silence.  There are a LOT of Particle already out in the wild so it's not like it isn't available for trading.  I think people that mined or purchased PRT see much potential in it and have very little desire to dump unlike most coins where miners dump as fast as they mine.  I have not noticed any dumping of significant volume.  The yang to the ying is that there is also a lack of buyers right now so I think people that have not heard of PRT just are not getting the message.  This is where I think it is clear we need to make some more noise and toot some horns.

We need new investor blood, not new miners...same boat as Quark...mining is pretty much in maintenance mode and now its time to move to the next level and get this going as a currency that is used.  It seems like the mining reward wind down is even faster than Quark so there is really no time to waste in getting people interested in using PRT.

The new wallet is going to be great but it also sounds like developing the '3rd party app' layer will take some time.  Would a possible idea to get some interim publicity be to release the wallet in 2 stages.  The first could be the graphical updates plus some of the hardwired new features like ticker and link to CoinedUp etc etc.  That way we get some buzz and get people interested in the wallet and used to the layout and maybe some of those people will get interested in building apps etc etc.  Then once the 'particle accelerator' (or whatever the app store gets called) is finished release the second stage of the wallet.

Go PRT!

What good is a wallet if no one is mining to support transactions?   Without mining crypto coins don't work.    When everyone stops mining there won't be any transactions.

It isn't so much a problem that there was so much mined so quickly, the problem is that soon even the meager awards that exist today for mining will be gone.   What are the plans to fix that?
adoption and distribution. So slow and steady.

Not really going for the hashrate arms race as you can see from the distribution.

I think PRT price and trading amount will going UP when our Chinese friends go out from holiday.
lol huh?
Chinese exchange used to have 100 million daily volume until it was shut down. Just need to Chinese to pick up again on a decent exchange and that won't happen during holidays

Let's dream a little bit Grin:
What are your predictions about PRT price (PRT/BTC) by 2 weeks, month, 3 months, 6 months, year?

Well there is so few people willing to sell despite having 700 million in circulation that I believe it will go easily to 0.03$ within a month or so.

What about so called multipools? I've been reading about that and it seems like a big possible threat for any perspective coin...
some see it as a threat but if you have a coin that has proper re targeting like particle, it doesn't matter at all. If anything it might shed some light on some coins (take MEOW for example. Volume soared when multipools picked it up)

Well, I hope I'll have my yacht by the end of this year. Or atleast a little boat. You know, the one you can play with in the bathtub... Other than that, I have no idea.
I want a bathtub that my yacht will fit in

i have 40000PRT...

Hold or sell? and why?
There is no reason for prt to not reach 0.02-0.03$. So at 0.003$ it's either a bargain or dumb to sell. And you know it's the common belief when there is almost 700 million in circulation and not even 3 million on sell orders at this price. People don't wanna sell this cheap.

Bittick, do you have any plans already for the donation / marketing fund? I believe I'm the only one who contributed but I guess it should be enough for some stuff to go forward.

So just out of curiosity, how many people are actively mining solo with CPU's?

How many people are actively mining with GPU's?

What are your average hash rates (doesn't need to be exact, an average is fine with me)?
Well I am pool mining but with 12 fx 8350 at about 900 khs each

No need for anyone to fix anything, just have to understand the rules.

For 'stuck sent transactions' just run your wallet from the command line with the --salvagewallet command.  It takes a while but it recovers all the sent transaction that failed because they are made up of too big...and by big I mean made up of too many incoming transactions not the actual amount of PRT sent.  Next time send less in a single transaction.  This is a common issue with Quark for miners that were on the P2Pool since they got many many many micro incoming amounts so I would expect the same with Particle.

Maybe a button for this thing or stuff like that in some "Maintenance" or "Control panel" tab of a wallet?

If this is going to be widely spread, remember how many non geek people stare at you when you mention "Command line"
It's like: "WHAAAT???"
Need to be careful with this though.  Some of these functions can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.  If its built into wallet some people will have tendency to just click on everything without understanding what they are doing...

Usually the issue when you have lots of micro transactions is that there is a limit to the number of inputs to a transaction, so you may get told you are trying to send too large a sum, and have to break it up into smaller sends...this is unavoidable with blockchain, but there is UI feedback for this situation and while an inconvenience it is generally easy to work with.

But as far as control panel...maybe we build UI but require a special command line argument to enable or something.  Make it not too easy to force people to think...
Maybe just include a warning prompt to ONLY use if that issue happened. Usually those warnings are enough to deter people from using blindly. Especially when dealing with their money.

I will keep my coins at least for year. Smiley

with how little people are willing to sell at this price, you are not the only one lol

Why do you expect me to pay miners fee ? I do not mine. I deposited my own money to its exchange. So, I am struggling to understand why it is taking so long to confirm the deposit. Can somebody clarify it a bit for me ? I would appreciate your help in this matter.

It might be obvious for you but it is not for me so do not get frustrated but just explain to me please.

paying the miners fee decreases time taken to confirm as puts a priority on your transaction, it basicly helps secure the blockchain

Thank you for help. What does Request Payment button do ?

How I can pay miners fee ?
request payment does just that. Send a request for a payment to someone.

When you send bitcoin, after clicking send, you get a prompt, you click yes.

miners fee (ie transaction fee) is what sustains the network. You pay a transaction fee, your transaction gets priority over those who dont pay. Since you didnt pay the fee, your transaction may take longer. The fee is so small you might as well pay it and get your transaction processed promptly.
