341  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Monero was almost Free on: January 22, 2017, 12:53:34 PM
Monero could still be a good investment at $12.
You probably won't get rich, but there is still the possibility of being worth double or triple in a year or two.
My prediction is $15 by the middle of this year, which is a 25% increase.
342  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: My 2017 predictions on: January 22, 2017, 12:45:58 PM
This is a great post and I appreciate the update!

My investments right now are
Factom FCT 45%
Monero XMR 35%
Siacoin SC 10%
Burst BURST 10%

I've managed to make a few dollars selling Factom/ Monero when they peak and re-buying when they dip.
Siacoin and Burst are mainly there as long-shot investments. I'm trying to get 1 million of each coin in the event they become worth something in the $0.10 to $1 range,
because that would be a huge return on my investment.

I feel like all of these are good projects that have long-term potential.
Sometimes I'm not able to do any trading for a couple days at a time so I'm looking to buy, HODL and hope that it pays off a year or two from now.

I also use my signature campaign earnings to buy random cheap coins on Yobit.
Usually I end up holding some coin worth 1 satoshi but every once in a while I hit the lotto and some coin has huge gains.
I made a few dollars selling PUTIN coin this week, for example. Literally picked because I loved the name.  Cool
343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [SC] Siacoin Speculation Thread on: January 22, 2017, 01:00:23 AM
The general idea for this coin is very interesting and I'm glad its getting some support
(115+ BTC volume on Poloniex today)

I may invest a few dollars in case it hits,
but I want to do a little more research into the technical aspects before i put any serious amount of money up.
If anyone knows of good technical posts not on this forum I would appreciate a link to them. Thanks!
344  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ross William Ulbricht not Pardoned! on: January 21, 2017, 11:48:42 PM
Free Ross, Free El Chapo.
I mean, all they did was sell drugs and murder people right? If you are pardoning the Moreno brothers these guys did nothing worse.

I want a Mad Max world now, not it twenty years. Lets get this party started!
Free all the criminals, give guns to everyone and lets shoot it out.

345  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Looking for USB hobby miner, efficiency doesn't matter on: January 21, 2017, 11:44:08 PM
There are probably some users who have a Gekko Science (Sidehack made USB) for sale if you ask in one of the threads.
They are definitely well-made little USB miners. Worth paying a few dollars more for them IMO.
You can definitely find cheaper USB miners to practice with as well if you are just trying to learn how mining works.
346  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Insurance companies accepting Bitcoin? on: January 21, 2017, 03:21:21 PM
Its actually not a terrible idea.
Online bill payment via Bitcoin would be a perfect fit. You don't need instant confirmation, an hour or two would be totally acceptable for this purpose.
Taking BTC may save both users and the company on transaction fees associated with credit card payments etc.
347  Economy / Speculation / Re: Time to buy? on: January 21, 2017, 03:18:55 PM
50/50 chance that price drops back to $750 or goes up to $1000 again.
Investing right now is like flipping a coin. Anyone feel like gambling?
348  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 21, 2017, 03:15:37 PM
Dash is a centralised, self-serving scam.  It's just propped up by pretty good marketing and coordinated moves to further the interests of the Masternode cabal.

It has no real quality, it is not competition. It's just not been unmasked yet.

Dash is not the worry, it helps people who make proper research to realise just how good Monero actually is.

The cream always rises.

Yes the more I read about Dash the more I'm amazed people are putting money into this project.
Poorly implemented crypto, centralized nodes that collect tons of information, shady premine tactics to enrich the developers...

As for Monero, I still feel comfortable putting in a few more dollars.
Price is kind of sideways right now but its only going to being added to another exchange or service like Coinbase,
or a little more interest from China to push the price higher. I'm predicting $15 by the middle of the year.
349  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: TrumpCoin is rising ~ Bought 327.173 coins @ $0.27 on: January 21, 2017, 01:23:39 AM
Price dropped 64% today. Bagholders getting wrecked.
Hope you all cashed out a couple days ago because the party is over. Another shitcoin in the toilet.
350  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin break $2000? because of Trump? on: January 21, 2017, 01:21:49 AM
Well, Trump is officially president and the price of Bitcoin hasn't moved.
Lets give it a few days to see if he says anything to wake the sleeping Dragon, but my prediction is that the price remains unaffected.
351  Other / Off-topic / Re: Whats Your Current Balance In Bitcoins ? on: January 21, 2017, 01:17:23 AM
You might get more answers by making some sort of google document or online survey.
Many members are not going to reveal how many coins they have or the method they use to store them.
Personally I would never actually discuss my holdings because its far too easy to link this account to my actual identity.
352  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So how can anybody trust ZEC again? on: January 20, 2017, 01:06:39 AM
Most people don't care about the coins privacy or the technology behind it.
They are just looking to make a quick buck buying coins on an exchange.
Thats why its so easy for shady developers to put some shitcoin out to the public, generate some hype and make fast cash.

I don't trust Zcash at all, but thats my personal opinion.
353  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How is trading *not* gambling? on: January 19, 2017, 11:51:33 PM
Its similar to some forms of wagering like betting on horse racing or poker.
You are taking an educated guess. Doing research may give you a slight advantage which, over time, may allow you to make more money than other players.
But its still definitely a form of gambling.
354  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 19, 2017, 11:49:29 PM
OneCoin is the most anonymous cryptocurrency. Nobody has seen its blockchain, yet I have been told it will be a huge thing.  Huh

So anonymous that the blockchain doesn't even exist! How can you audit what isn't there?!?!?!

In all seriousness, I've heard a couple rumors about this coin but haven't seen any technical info.
If anyone has some links feel free to PM me so we don't have to spam a bunch of off-topic posts in this thread.
355  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1000$ rally tomorrow on: January 19, 2017, 11:47:26 PM
Maybe slightly above $900 but Trump coming into office shouldn't really have that much of a change on the price.
Then again maybe he says one thing about China in a speech and traders go crazy. It will be an interesting couple of weeks for sure.
356  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nifty way to put your coin to work. on: January 19, 2017, 11:46:03 PM
Where are you trading $50 worth of Bitcoin for $100 worth of Amazon gift cards?
I would be suspicious of anyone offering me that deal. There is always the possibility that it was purchased with a stolen credit card, etc.
You have a source to make these trades that is 100% legitimate?
357  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitmark $btm (Poloniex) Scam Or Not Poll - Selfish Mining Issue on: January 19, 2017, 09:50:26 AM
Interesting. I've never heard anything about this before.
I did know Bitmark was used for the Poloniex marking system and would be surprised if they would risk their reputation with a coin with such serious issues.

What is the problem with the mining exactly?
There some kind of attack preventing other users from mining? Would like some more technical details if possible.

Anyways it looks like the price is riding a huge bubble with obvious signs of pumping.
Huge increase in price followed by big drop-offs and very little buy support.
358  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Trolling on: January 19, 2017, 09:45:04 AM
There is a HUGE amount of manipulation of the price of Bitcoin, and anyone who thinks there isn't is fooling themselves.
Whales are making millions of dollars every time the price moves a few percent so they have a big incentive to change the price.
There are fake news stories and any number of other tactics used to change the price.
Even a change of a few percent means a lot of money when you are investing tens or hundreds of millions of dollars.
359  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is anyone actually turning a profit with BURST mining? on: January 19, 2017, 12:37:14 AM
Yes...if your just looking to mine and dump  BUSRT the price is not that high today.  But I happen to think it's a project with great potential and the price may rise significantly in the future.  Just my opinion.

Yes Burst is way more developed and (IMO) a better project than lots of other coins that currently have a higher price.
My goal is to get 1 million Burst for the (small) chance that it one day becomes worth something. Even at ten cents that would be a big return on the investment.
And if the price ever hit $1 I would look like a genius!
360  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Bitcoin price may not crash like 2013 on: January 18, 2017, 11:36:25 PM
Price is only going up.
There may be some small losses, but overall the price will continue to grow.
Buy when the price drops and HODL.
Its only going to take one big app or website to start accepting payments in Bitcoin for the price to reach an new ATH and stay there.
