3441  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Advice on trends on: February 17, 2022, 07:20:22 PM
I think when we invest of course this is different from trading because their duration is longer than trades and I don't think there is a need to check every day when we talk about Investments because indeed we have targeted how long we will invest and checking every day this will only make our hearts happy you get shaky.
It's a different story if we trade because we do it for the short term so it's very natural to check every day so that we don't lose momentum
You can still check the prices if you are in long term holding mode. I do not think that I would see myself selling in the next decade, probably going to be in 203x years before I want to sell, obviously if something horrible happens and I need to cash out then I will cash out but until that moment I will probably keep it this way. In that situation, I am still checking every day, why? Because I like crypto, I like to be in the know and I want to know what happens when prices crash or when prices soar.

It didn't really make me super happy when it reached 68k+ levels, it didn't scare me when it went to under 35k levels neither, I just felt nothing at all. I mean sure a bit happy and a bit sad, but no more than like 2 seconds. So at the end of the day, it is not to make decisions, it is just to make sure that I am aware of what is going on in the market.
3442  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When to know Bitcoin has reset? on: February 17, 2022, 06:54:19 PM
From a technical standpoint, it could be tied to a serious security hole that compromises bitcoin's integrity, causing users to lose faith in bitcoin as a secure alternative payment mechanism. Or perhaps it has something to do with more improved science/mathematics, rendering cryptography skewed which I think is very unlikely because many of bitcoin developer are constantly improving it.

It could also be a huge global war that has a detrimental impact on the economy and so much more. The point is that it's still a multibillion-dollar question that none of us can answer, especially now that bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general are so vast that they have significant applications in today's world. Not only that, many institutions have adopted bitcoin to the point where they are now purchasing it in large quantities.
Considering that we are in a blockchain world and we could always trust the blockchain that we are using or another blockchain to continue, the person who hacks into blockchain due to some flaw could continue down with that blockchain that everyone will ignore and we would move to another one.

You think it is impossible? Look at simply just bitcoin, we have legacy, we have segwit, we have bech32 type thing now, we have lightning network and these are all in bitcoin. Do not even get me started on altcoins, they have so much more. Obviously there will be small caps that get some hackers attention and eventually will not even be defender, but that is for small cap alts, not for bitcoin.
3443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Why people keep "investing" money in shit/memecoins? Genuine question. on: February 17, 2022, 09:29:49 AM
shitcoin promises a higher ROI than bitcoin and that is what traps many people into being tempted to buy it Cheesy. I have some friends who keep telling me that meme coins will make him rich quick but so far he has never experienced that (he always loses), Bitcoin is always the best and most rational asset, unlike shitcoins or meme coins
Most of them promise nothing.

It is the mindsetting of every investor that have been chasing meme coins that they'll have a faster and higher ROI.

Those who got in early in these meme coins, they're the only ones that can make a lot of money from it. But the rest, who just invested newly, they should accept the fact that it's quite hard for them to recover.
Unfortunately there were a few of them that did exactly this and that is why people are chasing after it. Like they see shiba, which is a useless shitcoin end up making people 10000x profits and all, so they want to do the same thing with others now.

There were few other smaller caps that turned people into millionaires instead of billionaires, and that is why people are chasing after finding the next one. We all know there will always be a few that make it and thousands that won't, so people throw money at thousands to hit just a few that will happen.

There may not be another memecoin that succeeds, but people will still throw money at all the new ones. The sad thing is, if you want to start, you could spend like 50k on creating and marketing a new project and probably get a few million dollars if you know what you are doing thanks to this hype.
3444  Economy / Speculation / Re: Prediction: Low was $34K or will be ~$25K on: February 16, 2022, 06:03:25 PM
there is no guarantee this price drop will be a big profit in the next week as the bear market is not showing any signs of ending. the possibility of bitcoin price reaching a lower point in the next few weeks is still very wide open.
Indeed, there is no guarantee to what extent the bitcoin price will fall but, if we look at the current bitcoin price movement, it is in an uptrend even though the buying and selling pressures are both strong, however, the bitcoin price is still able to stay in the $44k range. Therefore, I think Bitcoin will continue to advance in upward momentum towards its target price of $52k.
There is a "bit" of understanding where it will fall. I mean we all know it won't be 10 bucks right? I know it is a big example and that is not what we are talking about but if we all think that it won't be ten bucks then we all agree that there is a price where it won't fall. To me that is 20-25k range, I do not think that we will see anything under 25k dollars.

It means that you could make predictions based on that. Like when it was close to 30k recently, I calculated that it wouldn't be under 25k, it may have fallen to that but that is it. So, I bought as much as I could again and now I am in a bigger profit already. So it is easily predictable to think how much it will fall or won't fall.
3445  Economy / Speculation / Re: Btc and future value on: February 16, 2022, 05:02:53 PM
The amount will be the same but the value will be changing any time , the volatility will tell you this so better to be ready? or forget what you are aiming.

having 1 bitcoin is more than enough investment for long term specially if you are looking for the next generation meaning to be granted to your love ones.

like what I am doing now, investing bitcoin for my children that they will treasure when time comes.
I would argue that if you have 1 bitcoin and you do nothing with them then it could be a bit of wrong as well. Even if you do not do anything big, just putting it on interest could be more than enough. That way you could turn your 1 bitcoin into 2 bitcoin for real, even while the price is going up.

I know that people do not trust everywhere, but you could check binance and see what coins and tokens they are promoting in the calculation and you could see how much you could make from their interest. I personally believe that we should not be really just simply holding if we have a lot of money, I mean sure if it is under 1k then you do not have to worry too much but if you have 1 bitcoin then you could make so much more with that in 20-30 years before you leave it to your children.
3446  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: February 16, 2022, 03:48:08 PM
The loss to PSG is definitely going to bring doubts on moral to the Madrid team, and maybe if care is not taken, they may loose their next league game.
Consistency is all they need now in the league, and every game they play needs to be taken seriously bacause there is no hope in the champions league tittle.

I believe the league tittle is there own this season if they remain consistent.
If they lost in a regular fashion then I would totally understand. However, it was a dominating performance by PSG, they managed to win with a single goal on overtime which looks like Real played great but if you look at the possessions you will see that PSG actually had so many goal chances, I am not even talking about the missed penalty which happens time to time but all the other chances as well, they had so many chances but failed.

Real got lucky on this game, it could have easily been 3-0 type of game if PSG managed to score some of those chances. Real should have kept their wide spread system, if they did that then they would have at least tire PSG out by the end, but instead Ancelotti changed the system and tried something new in such an important game and of course it failed. It failed better than expected at least, could have been even worse.
3447  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I’m planning to surprise my soon-to-be-bride sister some BTC on her wedding day on: February 16, 2022, 12:51:42 PM
I wonder why you started with Ethereum and are now moving to Bitcoin (why Bitcoin wasn't the first one), but, in any case, I think it's a lovely gift. If she kept the ETH and believes it can grow, it means she's at least open to cryptos and somewhat positive about their future, so gifting Bitcoin seems like a good choice to me. The only thing I wanted to add is that if it's a wedding gift, it probably should be for both of them, not just your sister...? People have different financial arrangements when they're married, but wedding gifts are usually for both, no? If you only focus on her, her husband might feel left out.
Not bad if he should gift her Ethereum. Both bitcoin and ethereum are good cryptocurrencies and whatever he chooses to give her wouldn’t be a bad choice since the two would still have a better value in future. We all know how good Ethereum is and being the first smart contract gives it a lot of advantages. But then bitcoin as well is also on top the list as it is the first cryptocurrency to be created. So the both of them doesn’t make a bad choice. He can choose any.

You are right that the gift should be meant for both of them, because the gift that you give on a wedding day is meant for the couple and not just one of them since they are now one bonded together. So, maybe he can just present the gift to the both of them instead of just saying that it is meant for his sister alone.
3448  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Inflation is a big problem for a country? on: February 16, 2022, 06:49:36 AM
Inflation can devalue any debt including personals? Really? Idk but this sounds good to me, this means it is the best time to take a loan during the inflation period because people can pay lesser but loans in times of inflation are unavoidable because its a tough time for everyone. Prices are getting high and people only have a limited money to afford it.

If inflation makes it hard for someone to plan long term then why not plan early or plan before inflation occurs? In that way they can combat the effects of it and they can survive until the inflation rate gets lowered or totally subsided. Inflation is a big problem but only for those live's who have no direction.
It is true, inflation makes people pay their loans back easier, it makes earning money harder because there is usually a higher unemployment rate but if your job is stable and you are earning accordingly, then you will make more. So, let's assume that you make 10k per month, you live the USA and you just had around 7% or so inflation right?

You tell your boss you want a bigger raise than inflation and get 10% raise for this year, not really possible since bosses would want to pay even less, but assuming you are a vital employee (which you could be with 10k per month) you manage to get it. Now you are making 11k per year.

Assuming you got mortgage payment of 5k per month, you used to have 5k left after you paid it, now you have 6k left to pay it. Next year, same thing happens, now 10% would mean 1.1k more, so you make 12.1k dollars instead, and you still pay 5k, left with 7.1k instead. Year after that same thing and you get 13.31k per month, and still pay 5k. You can calculate it for 10 years.

By the end, you the debt would be nothing to you and you would be making a lot more and you would pay your mortgage very easily. Now imagine living in a nation with 20%+ inflation, your debt would be nothing in a few years.
3449  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: February 15, 2022, 11:55:29 PM
Espanyol wasn't really a difficult opponent for Barcelona. They are 13th in the league even after the draw, Barcelona had to win this game. It is a clear thing that their defence is doing terrible at the moment and they need to do a lot better in the long run if they want to get better. They got some players which is nice, but they need to get a lot better defence as well, mainly centre backs.

Pique is good and all but he is not enough anymore, Araujo was a player I never liked as well and he is given a lot of responsibilities. If they could get 2 more great centre backs for next season, they could fight as much as a title from this position, all they need is 2 transfers, even if one amazing defender instead of pique could change so much for them.
3450  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: February 15, 2022, 11:22:49 PM
the two teams are giant teams in the Italian league, it can be said that the strength of the two clubs is equally strong. Although yesterday's result Roma was very good playing at the hosts resulting in a draw, it's a good thing for me for Roma. and I think mourinho has done his best to coach Roma. produce results roma position is still safe in the standings
Mourinho is doing all he can but the reality is that "all he can" is not that great anymore. He used to be a great manager but he hasn't been great for a long time now. Look at his biggest rival Pep, he moved from Barcelona to Bayern, which he didn't stay there for too long but got a lot of success, then moved to City and they are dominating the greatest league in the world (for now). Mourinho on the other hand fought against Pep, and right now fighting to stay relevant, that is a terrible fall from him.

I believe that as long as he could manage to get some success, he is young enough to make a comeback and manage a team to UCL but he needs to first overachieve with a team and he has failed to do that for a long time now.
3451  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lies and critics about bitcoins on: February 15, 2022, 06:30:25 PM
I like this thread because a few days ago I was trying to explain to a group of people what BTC is, and what it represents and why it turns out to be the best long-term investment and why it is the best savings against the decline of an economy. inflationary 1000% that we are living where I live, and it caught my attention that a lady said that she did not like that digital currency because it represented the currency of the antichrist and a stamp, that that is something diabolical and that it represents being one of the things for which the apocalypse is already here, and I with all due respect told him, that any antichrist could come with or without BTC, that BTC is just an invention that does not seem from this world so that we can all achieve financial freedom quickly because there is more opportunities than the traditional economy.
I just don’t know who came up with this theory of Antichrist, and how it is going to happen. Some people, whenever they see new inventions that are helpful to we humans, they start to assume that it has something to do with Antichrist. Every little thing they see always has something to do with Antichrist, and it can be really annoying.

But, I wouldn’t really blame all these people, most of us don't have the same level of knowledge. So, that you can easily understand something, doesn’t mean that other people will as well understand that same way. Our height of understanding differs each and every person. Bitcoin is simply a technology for transactions and nothing more, it is just here to make it easier for us to make transactions and have more flexibility.
3452  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what is difference between HODL and staking? on: February 15, 2022, 03:23:43 PM
Definitely not old school. Great point. The nomenclature staking evolved within crypto from the PoS coin staking itself.

I am sure you individually know about it but just to add to the conversation, the second definition of staking evolved from the trend of yield farming on DeFi. There too, two terms have mainly evolved. Liquidity mining and Staking. There are pools and there are farms. The pools are generally for pooling liquidity where you put half of each asset (a stablecoin and an Alt) and get a share of trading fees. This is where Impermanent loss comes in.

If you are just Hodling, there is no IL. I think OP may even be researching IL because that is where the difference between Hodling and yield farming (staking) is most prominent.
There are two different styles though, you have to remember that as well. I do not know if they are really different or not that much, but staking ETH and staking Cake are different for example. You have to remember that.

So, if you are supporting proof of stake coins, then Cake or Uni or anything like that is not involved in that case. I love to "stake" stablecoins for example, usually that is not called staking but you get some returns from Binance for example (and other places) like yearly 5% to 10% for staking them. With that type of return, you could arrange your life accordingly and live on passive income.

You could also do staking with coins that could earn you while gain value and that is great too. Both your income and your coins value would go up in that case, what you stake as 100k today and gives you 10k a year, could worth 200k if the coin does x2 and earn you 20k because the % is still the same.
3453  Economy / Economics / Re: Your opinion on side jobs on: February 15, 2022, 05:02:50 AM
General opinion is that a side job is one that supports the main income of an individual, often times perceived as something that brings little money to add to what you make from your day job. If Mr X earns better from a side job when compared to the income from his career option, does the side job still qualify to be called a side job?
Haha, good one op! The main job will always be the main job if you want it to be. It depends entirely on the person or on the perspective of another. Some may see main jobs as main income provider while others may think main jobs are jobs that consume the most time and effort from a person. Whatever the case, as long as it keeps a roof over your head and food on the table, it doesn't really matter that much what it is called.
That is the type of thing that my friends are all doing and I do not understand. They have their main job that makes them money, and they see that as their job. I would say that have your own job that you want to do in the world, you could have a "main job" that gives you money, but then for the rest of your hours, focus on doing what you want to do. Let that consume every single hour of your life.

I work nearly 12-13 hours a day, all for the "main" job that I have because I found the job that I love the most, it is the most magnificent job for me, it is content writing and many people may not like it and hate it but the reality is that I still love it and it is perfect for me.

If you can't let your favourite thing in the world consume every single minute you have, then you are not going to turn that into your main job and will hate your whatever main job you have that brings only income and no fun for the rest of your life.
3454  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What altcoin will go 10x this year? on: February 15, 2022, 04:23:21 AM
If the market hits bull run I'm pretty sure the altcoins that you mentioned will go x10 but we don't know if the bull run will occur this year. My altcoins that will go x10 in the future are Matic, BNB, Solana and Cake these are good altcoins investments for me.
The coin that you mention is already passed there exponential growth phase. Maybe around X2 or x3 is a realistic target but x10 is already over hyped because most them is already on top 10 to 50 market cap right now. Investors will not gonna buy continuously just to push the price on that level because there's a lot of new coin that can be easily hit that.
Bitcoin was around 3.5k during march 2020, and it was around 64k during April 2021. That should tell you how every single coin could reach to x10 in a great market in one year. I am not saying that these coins will do x10, all I am defending here is that "exponential growth phase is over" is a lie told by the people who do not want you to get into bigger cryptos.

Even bitcoin did x10 and then some in a year if you look at the right period, so to think that Cake or SOL or others could not make x10 because they are already at a certain level makes no sense. Obviously the whole market would have to do something closer, not like SOL could make x10 while all others stay the same, but they could all do it together except a few coins. Once again, I have to remind everyone that I am not saying these coins will do, all I am saying is that it is also not impossible.
3455  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: February 14, 2022, 11:58:32 AM
Lyon managed to win 2-0 from Nice and the Ligue 1 competition can be said that PSG easily won this season, Nice the team in 2nd place had to lose to Lyon who is currently in 6th place. Nice's defeat made the difference in points with PSG quite far and currently Marseille has moved up to second place even though there is still one game left but the points gap with PSG is still 13 points adrift, very far and PSG will end the competition early to ensure the Ligue 1 title this season.
Honestly, even if Marsielle and Nice end up winning every single remainder of the games, I would still see PSG becoming champions. Why? Because, the difference is 15+ points and that means losing 5 games or more (or having ties according to that). This is something that is very unlikely, I do not see that happening at all.

Obviously, those teams are fighting for the second and third spot just so they could get paid accordingly and be at a higher level during UCL as well, going directly to the groups or going to play elimination games and so forth are things that matter a lot. Which is why I believe that these clubs do not play for championship anymore, haven't in a long time.
3456  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: February 14, 2022, 11:11:54 AM
Warriors - Lakers game was very enjoyable last night as I expected. I was waiting for Warriors to defeat Lakers easier but Lakers resisted them really well and it ended 117-115. The thing that made me happy the most was that Klay Thompson scored 33 points in this game and finally started performing like himself. Curry played really good too by scoring 24 points. I want to see this duo performing like this mostly and the team can be more successful like this too.
He was the hero in that game, 4th quarter is all his, I mean his 3 point shooting was very accurate and that's what you called a clutch player. Thompson is definitely very dangerous in the court, he can shoot without hesitation and his 3 point shooting is even improving IMO.
The scary part is, Warriors were great before Klay came back, and now that he is back and playing these type of games, it is even more insane. I can't believe that they were second ranked in the league without Klay and now got him as well, they are going to be a dominating force in the playoffs as well.

I do not see them as great as they used to be a few years ago when they dominated the league, but they are still quite big name in the league and could beat anyone on their best day. Lakers on the other hand reached 5 game behind the 50% mark as well, that is as bad as you could imagine for a team that is spending that much money on 3 superstar level players.
3457  Economy / Speculation / Re: Either rise or dip no more stability at this zone on: February 13, 2022, 08:14:01 PM
I feel like the market is going to make a significant move in either direction soon. Bitcoin as we know is not a stablecoin, it’s still a young asset so volatility is still very much present. I don’t know if it’ll be a bullish or bearish move but something significant is going to happen soon. I don’t think we will stay in the current price range for long.
On contrary I believe that it will be boring for the next period, but even if a significant one happens, I am guessing that it would be upside since we already lived the downside already. At the end of the day, bitcoin is not only young (only 11-12 years old) but it is also not regulated like the other markets.

I mean Elon could phone up Jeff and warren and bill to get together 50 billion dollars and buy that OTC and wait for the market to react to this news and increase like insanely, do 2x and then he could call them up and all would sell on OTC and the price could go down because of that bad news and they could buy even cheaper and would both have their money and their bitcoin at the same time. If they did that on stock market they would be punished like crazy but if they do that on bitcoin nothing happens to them and that is the main reason for volatility.
3458  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: February 12, 2022, 06:51:54 PM
Ben Simmons will be on a new number (10) this season in the Brooklyn,  Ben Simmons had been on number 25  all through the beginning  of his career, i think the reason he will be on a new in the Brooklyn is because 25 is not available for him. This also the number is fathe wore all through as a  basketball.  Can Ben Simmons be able to cope with this number that seems new to him at this point of his career?.
I don't think the jersey numbers is significant though, even the GOAT himself hs two jersey numbers the famous 23 and then 45.

Still boils down as how he is going to perform in Nets uniform. We haven't see him this season because of the obvious drama with the Sixers, but since the trade is official already, he can start with a new left with the Nets although not sure what will be their chances this playoff since Durant is still recovering.
I think it was because he came back to the game after doing some baseball experiment and his number was taken and that is why he went with number 45 for a while. As soon as it was available, he switched back to 23.

However, if we were to talk about greats of the game having 2 numbers, Kobe never even switched teams and still changed his number from 8 to 24 so it should not be really a big deal for anyone else, we all know Lebron has 23 and 6 as well which was used in multiple places in multiple times. So, I would guess that changing your numbers is not a big deal for many players, and it should be fine in this case as well and not a big deal.
3459  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How will Coinmarketcap look in 2025? on: February 12, 2022, 05:00:49 PM
I would guess that logic is, if there is a better tech then there is a better tech, if there are more people interested then it is just simply better. So all in all the resources are divided right now, mainly going to bitcoin of course but that doesn't change the fact that there are so many developers, designers, marketers, money and other stuff going into other coins as well.

This means maybe one day bitcoin will get so much lesser than what it is getting today that eventually it will not be yielding to any proper rank and could drop. Doesn't mean it will be 78th, just means it may become second, obviously after that is unknown since it never happened before.
Even in that case, if market decides that one day there is a better coin in the tech part (which already is) then it means something totally different for bitcoin to be lower than first. Anything under first would be scary because it means something like "crypto is moving to a different direction" and that would be scary. Not 100% bad, but definitely scary. We have so many people doing so many things these days and I do not think that most of them have worse tech than bitcoin.

Bitcoin could be the worst blockchain tech in all of major cryptocurrencies but it is still high. "True" decentralization where there are nobody at the top could be one of the main reasons because almost all the other big ones have someone at the top pulling the strings.
3460  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Inflation is a big problem for a country? on: February 11, 2022, 10:56:41 AM
We all know that Inflation in the US economy is at an alarming rate. Not the only USA, but Inflation is also a big problem for many countries globally, and it seems there is no way to stop it. Is it impossible to stop inflation in fiat currency or govt don't want to take any action it stop it? Do you think people can do anything to stop inflation in their economy or its inevitable?
I believe that we had many years when the world economy did alright, between around 2011 to 2016 it was as stable as it gets as far as I can remember, also between 2001/2002 to 2008 crisis it was still relatively ok as well. These are things that I am making out of my mind right now, I do not clearly remember or even checked the data for it but it wasn't THIS bad for sure.

Between nations handling covid horribly and energy crisis and pandemic causing productions to halt and many other things, profits are not too low for major companies but people are not seeing most of it hence why the world is doing worse. All in all, inflation could be fine as long as it is under %2 but we have been over that for a while now.
