There's been a discussion of late regarding post counts, spam, and newbies flooding the forums.

The idea is to weigh the number of posts against how long the user has been on the forums.

That's a logic decision. I only have 18 days of this forum but, as I'm on holidays, I'm very active in several threads. It's why I already was a Full Member... not anymore...  Cry

Now we have to see what the new rules are...  Shocked

This thread is sort of a testament on why a change needed to happen. Focus on the content and character of a poster, not how many gold coins are under their name, how many posts they have, or what member title they have.

Ok, I don't even deserve to be a Junior Member, as I don't know how to add numbers... eheheh... From First May till today are 48 days and not 18...  Shocked

But regarding titles and gold coins... That would not be a problem if I had many BTC (10 or even 50) as I could buy whatever title and gold coins I would like... with the donation system of this Forum.
But you would still have a low activity

Wait so why did you wanted to get rid of the activity ranking?
100 posts in 5 hours time. Geez.
So that's why the guy is mad
He spent its day on the forum to get the hero status Grin
3463  Other / Meta / Re: Activity on: June 18, 2013, 09:02:44 PM
I miss post counts. Activity is fine and all, but I still want to see post counts without having to click on the user's name.

Make a greasemonkey script.
That will load 20 new urls per forum page?
3464  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Activity fail?? on: June 18, 2013, 08:58:46 PM
Not sure of the benefits, or the drawbacks. It's a wash.
Active users for a long time have higher activity

Wow Theymos is just ruining this forum. Many people have been bumped down in rank thanks to this new "activity" system. No body wants this, he should have made a poll on what WE want. Theymos has not posted anything about this and hasnt even told anybody what the "activity meter" takes into account. *sigh* time to find a new forum..

I respect theymos a lot, but comon man this isnt cool!
What's the problem?
Do you value such a useless feature? Why?

Thank you
So now you need to be active for:
 - more than a year to be hero
 - more than six months to be senior
 - more than one month to be full member

I really like that

People already start complaining and asking how to have a better activity.
Better make all the answers in one thread.

Will the activity formula ever be released?
Is it susceptible to change?

Time for someone to make another bitcoin forum... Theymos and is ban crazy admins are ruining this one.

The problem is how do we increase our activity score.  Some people have been booted from Heroes to Juniors I've heard!
And how is it a problem?
3473  Other / Meta / Re: Activity, Time Spent on Forum, and Post Quality on: June 18, 2013, 08:21:14 PM
My theory about activity is that the quality of your posts, as well as the number of replies you give to the same topic, and the time spent on the forum determines it.
If you reply more to a thread with quality posts, in theory, you are more "active."

How would it be able to check the quality of your posts? I kinda like the idea tho.
Me too
Auto-deletes, auto-bans, that would be much cleaner here!

Interesting: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=27827
Post count = Activity for him, but 2 of his posts are separated by 2 minutes so its not the number of days during which you posted

I'm going to guess that it's a formula that theymos will tell us about later.

Edit:
I'm winning so far with 532

Is there a way to see the ranking by activity?
Looks like it's the same bounds than post count: 5, 100, 250, 500

No, I mean a list of all the forum members in the order of decreasing activity?
Oh ok, I'd like that too

That affects ranks too
Sr Member again  Sad

How is activity determined? I just went from senior to junior member. How about a little advance warning?
Why? How is your rank any useful?
3477  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: June 18, 2013, 08:02:17 PM
Why did my rank go from Senior to Junior member today?
The change from post count to activity?

3480  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What exactly is the reason bitcoin processes transactions so slowly? on: June 18, 2013, 07:11:20 PM
Litecoin generates blocks 4x as fast as bitcoin. If you want faster confirmations, just use litecoin.

Oatmo
Are you kidding or do you have no idea how bitcoin and copycats work?
