[I don't monitor this thread so you'll have to play fetch to get me back but...] for anyone struggling with the newer firmware, roll back in the meantime. Engineers are looking at the problem.

Just did a quick calc and a rig in the style like the bfsb 48card bitfury rigs could pack 3.5TH into ~1Kw

Excited

We'll likely see retail products sold closer to .4.

I'll be overclocking it with two CX750's as long as it's not too noisy. Judging from the snowfall out there, the holiday season should be perfect for some mining to heat up everything. Smiley

My old friend, I am sorry in advance Tongue A minor underclock and you should be okay to lower the 80% fan down though.

10Gh USB miner? Cheesy Maybe?

Maybe this could be a return of the super cheap USB miners.
The component overhead of USB miners is still a problem.

1 MCU, 1 DCDC, 1 USB-to-UART chip, for each 2 chips, is so much cost to take.

If we make a 8 to 9 chip USB miner (about 40G), DCDC cost can be saved. But USB2.0 does
not have enough watt capability to power it.
One could drop the MCU and use a USB-to-GPIO (or similar, depending on chip interface) to offload work onto the host....

As long as someone remembers to program a manufacturer and model identifier!
3525  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Syscooling SC-BC2 Watercooling Kit:Cool your multiple C1 antminers down on: December 11, 2014, 11:55:57 AM
yes, many users bitching about cables and 20 $ pumps not working (I got few and they are working fine since day 1) and seem to forget that only one year ago there were "legit" asic companies scamming people around for 100 or more bitcoins.

Both the pump and cable issues are concentrated in the very early batches (of which I had both), so it seems a bit unfair to keep heckling them for it.

What happened to no preorders?

This is in stock, shipping from hand?

I've received 2 of these courtesy of Canaan creative, thanks. I've yet to get them going but of course this means full support in mainline cgminer in the future.

Is there a way to work out the requirement for each account's Legendary? I thought I remembered you could calculate it based off something, but looked through the last 10 pages and can't see it.

It's between 775 Activity and 1030+. The individual account's numbers are not known, although I'm sure it's based on something on the account, maybe the number, or the hash of it, or something.

use something like the hash of UID + a salt to determine the point?

That's what I did. It just takes the first byte of the SHA-1 hash of UID+salt and adds it to 775. There aren't many users with more than 775 activity, so checking people for upgrades every 10 minutes doesn't cause any problems. I was able to do it with just one SQL statement because MySQL has a built-in SHA-1 function.

That's what I was looking for, thanks. Guess its not something I can calculate myself then.
3530  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Closed] Legendaries review party of Spondoolies-Tech's SP20 on: December 11, 2014, 10:42:33 AM
question.
these reviews will be on their own separate threads right?

if they all go on one thread, it'll be a tad cluttered and I hope they are on separate threads so that they can remain independent.

I'm not sure separate threads would be a good idea - there's already about 5 SP20 threads and another 10 is going to annoy the admins. Heck, even 5 is more than other products are usually allowed before things start getting merged.
3531  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [ANN] HashCoins - Cryptocurrency Mining Hardware Manufacturer on: December 11, 2014, 10:41:30 AM
btcguild - scrypt mining? Didnt know they offered it.

Of course not. In this version of the interface are displayed pools for SHA-256 only. For scrypt we are using Ghash and Clevermining - those will be displayed in next version.

Thanks for clarifying.

Scyrptguild was a thing from Jan - Sept 2014.

Reseat SD card, then reflash it. Its stuck in limbo at the moment.
Dogie, I took your advice and and have the same result.  No joy.  Everything appears to be OK except it does not hash.  I haven't heard anything from Bitmain yet so I'm pretty much stuck...

Hmm. Are you able to SSH in and look what error the cgminer window is throwing up?

Dogie, I got in via SSH (thanks) and got the following:  I'm not entirely sure what error I'm looking for and there's been no further word from Bitmain.  Any thoughts?

It looks exactly as it would if it hit temp cap - it freezes mining but everything else looks right. What is different is that all your temps read 0 - they'd typically freeze at 80, 75, 70 60 etc. Can you feel the pump working okay? No obvious over temp?

If not, disconnect 3 boards [make sure you leave the one powering the pump] and see if there is any difference once you've restarted. If not, email info@bitmaintech.com for a controller RMA. It would be too much of a coincidence for 4 hashing boards to instantly die, versus a single controller board failing.
3533  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER C1 Discussion and Support Thread on: December 11, 2014, 10:24:40 AM
guys I need some help...

I have 4x C1 miners, first run is all good, I can login to 192.168.1.99 the moment I change the network settings to my 10.0.10.X network after it reboots it just shutsdown by itself?

My PSU is 850W Enermax 850W platinum 80 plus standard worth $300 AUD, I used the 2x PCI-E coming from the PSU and 2x supplied molex adapter to PCIE.

I did the same process above to a 2nd C1 miner and I had the same experience.

Any tips please?

What I have done so far?
PSU running on its own and not connected to the miner, to make sure the paper clip mod work- done, eliminate the PSU mod issue
PSU to a fresh boot up C1 miner, running smoothly, not shutting down - done

but the moment I give it a static IP address it just shuts down or just coincidence? this happened to miner1 and miner2...

Any hints or tips please? thanks guys!!!

That's not a great PSU, it only just has the wattage AND its 5 rail. Turn DHCP on if you're having issues giving it a static IP in your home range.
3534  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Black Friday Deals 0.409USD/GH/s, FREE International Shipping on: December 11, 2014, 10:21:06 AM
Ok so Bitmain has stopped single sales of S4's , only pallets of 16 left. And the current coupons expire on the 15th.  Maybe they are going to start sales of the S5 on Monday? 1Th  $375-400 750PSU needed is my guess. Any takers?

Single B2 sales of S4 available on Bitmain site again. Could they be dumping remaining S4 stock for S5 release since FC announced their new chip today?

Still likely 50 days away from chips in hand and longer for miners. Its a bit premature to post that stage of chip testing, unless he went on the chip orders without seeing test results which is really unlikely.
3535  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER C1 Discussion and Support Thread on: December 10, 2014, 09:12:02 PM
Maybe somebody from Bitmain is reading the forum - they obviously don't read the mails... One of the pumps I got with the C1 is leaking... I informed them in time before I ordered three S4s, however, no response, so chances are slim that they just put the pump into one of the packages. The non-reaction is somewhat disappointing...

You can't expect an email to get read and physically actioned in a warehouse at the same time as the sending of your order. And there is no way a pump is going to fit into an S4 box.

RMAs for cooling are with syscooling.
3536  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [BLACK FRIDAY SALE] HashCoins - Cryptocurrency Mining Hardware Manufacturer on: December 10, 2014, 09:03:03 PM
Your picture looks almost fake  Shocked

This company almost looks fake.

Why are they selling "Apollo v3" which is 550 gh/s per chip at 0.9 w/gh

And "Zues v3" which is 900 gh/s per chip at 0.65 w/gh. Seems like BS if you ask me.

Apollo v3 redesigned rev 2.3 to rev 2.4 (650-700Mhz)
Zeus v3 redesigned Yoli. (850-975Mhz)

Please stop trolling us!
No one's trolling you, but your numbers don't make sense. You can't get 900GH/s of out of a GN chip at 975MHz. The theoretic maximum with no inefficiencies is 768 hashes per clock cycle. You most certainly can't do so at 0.65J/GH, even at the chip level. If you were running 15 ASICs you might be able to get reasonably close to 4500GH/s and 2800W,  but the listed specs are extremely hard to believe. In the absence of some sort of evidence I'm sure you can understand why people are skeptical.

I think I'll be seeing a Yoli board of theirs soon, so we'll know either way.

Has hashcoins sent you one of their magical Yoli boards yet that gets 900GH/s from a single chip at 0.65J/GH at the wall? It would be nice to mark that offering down as a straight up scam so no one buys it.

Not yet, no.
3537  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S3 Setup [HD] on: December 10, 2014, 04:34:22 PM
Does anyone else have S3's that show four (4) fans in "Miner Status?"

Yes it is entirely normal, all miners forever have shown 4 fan boxes. Please be more patient in the future, you posted 4x here and in the S4 threads as well overnight. Not everyone works on US time.
3538  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Closed] Legendaries review party of Spondoolies-Tech's SP20 on: December 10, 2014, 04:31:24 PM
Using two 750W's Corsair PSU on this baby when it comes. Hopefully that'll be enough for some testing (i.e. overclocking Wink

2x Cx750m?  I ask b/c it seems the flat power cables they ship with seem larger gauge and better able to handle higher currents than the sleeved ones

Welp, I skimped and got the sleeved ones. I think it shouldn't be that much of a difference, would it?

No difference, they're both 18AWG on 750Ms. Only the CX1000s and nearby are 16AWG. I use 2x 750Ms without problem on an SP20, cable temps will not be a problem.
3539  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Black Friday Deals 0.409USD/GH/s, FREE International Shipping on: December 10, 2014, 04:26:38 PM
I KNOW THIS IS AN S4 THREAD.  However, not much going on at the S3 thread.  So, I'm bringing this question over here:

Has anyone bought an S3 lately and noticed in "miner status" that you have four (4) fans listed when in fact your S3 only has two (2) fans?

Look at mine:

>clip image<

Also, my S3 will allow me to adjust the voltage like an S4 does.  My S3 will not RESET properly either.  So, I was wondering if BITMAIN installed S4 software on my S3?

Has anyone else noticed this on a new S3 they have purchased?

He he, 4 fans-a first glimpse of S5 (flat or double decker)?  Grin
Predictions: 3 times more chips (underclocked), 2-2.5 times higher GH (hopefully, 1TH), 0.6w/Gh with voltage control for further underclocking to 0.4w/Gh

You forgot the unicorns. Many GH of unicorns.
3540  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Black Friday Deals 0.409USD/GH/s, FREE International Shipping on: December 10, 2014, 04:26:21 PM
Bitmain do not offer FREE Shipping.

IF miner will be returned to Bitmain customer not receive refund.
Bitmain ask customer to pay for shipping cost.

This is NOT "FREE" Shipping.

Its free shipping on the black friday S4 pack.

No, free shipping means that cost of shipping for customer is zero.

But Bitmain can ask customer for shipping cost compensation.
This option should not be called "free shipping".

"Shipping included" may be.

... you pay for shipping either way, Santa Claus doesn't deliver miners.

No, incorrect.

the diffrence between buying miners on bitmaintech.com "free shipping" and aliexpress.com "free shipping" in that if the miners returns to sender due to some delivery problems (like customs) I do not pay for "free shipping" on aliexpress and pay on bitmain

So every miner cost 500$ + 320$  shipping cost that I have to pay if customs make spot check.

They're fulfilling their obligation to send the goods, its up to you to know if customs would block your products (if they're not allowed in your country).
