Hello Dogie,

Have you completed the section about connecting to other pools that require a proxy?

I'll put it on my to do list to revise this section.

Does anyone have a suggestion for less noisy fans that could be used to replace the sunon fans? And my fans came without a grill Angry so it sliced off a peice of my finger whilst instaling it, 3 weeks ago now and it still hurts...

Quite honestly I think these are quite overcooled, so any mid range high pressure fans (Corsair I'm looking at you). Might need a small underclock if hash rate goes unstable.

Could you post me a link to a correct model that i could use 'cause I'm a bit new to the miner modding thing... and the miner is not currently at this location so I can't measure anything

It would be these. Its a significant step down in cooling power though so be careful.
3543  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER C1 Discussion and Support Thread on: December 10, 2014, 04:15:39 PM
Hmm. Are you able to SSH in and look what error the cgminer window is throwing up?

Actually I can't get into the C1 via SSH.  The unit won't accept the password for root.  I haven't changed it and am able to login via the web interface.  I'm not sure what the problem is...

I got an email from Bitmain support as follows:

   Hi,
Please refresh the web page to see if there any help. the miner needs some time to finish the initial settings.
If no use, please try to mine in other pools, you may try our Antpool as well:)
   stratum.antpool.com:3333, or solo.antpool.com:3333, solo.antpool.com:25
   https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=855548.0;all

   Best Regards

   BITMAIN

Needless to say I tried refreshing and leaving the miner on for an hour to see if some magic fairy's could get it to work - but still no luck.  I can see the difficulty changing and the "getworks" are increasing as well so it appears to be talking to the various pools and receiving work.  It's just not doing any work!

Oh and I tried the freq change just to see...and no it didn't work either.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Password is admin, I've changed everywhere its listed.
3544  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer U3: Decentralization continued. Order now, Ship on Nov. 5th on: December 10, 2014, 03:54:50 PM
What would everyone suggest as a good backup power supply to replace the crap one that the Antminer U3 came with? Amazon links if they carry it preferred...

6A one from my rockminer guide.

I really think we are all going to have to switch to ATX computer PSU's with breakout boards for these U3's.
Dogie I bought one of the ones you suggested after my first stock PSU melted. The replacement one you suggested lasted 4 days (at least it didn't melt or catch fire, it just died completely).
I had previously had 3 of those also die while using them for my R-boxes (the 5A version) but I just replaced them as they lasted 2 months before dying on me and I got them cheap ($6 each).

They're the same ones I'm using, and none of mine are even warm... Send it back and get another one.

Hey Dogie,

Just an FYI I  have two (2) Antminer U3's and I bought some replacement bricks with your referral (12v6a ones).  After running for about 20 minutes on stock settings they died and my office reeks like burning electronics. Not in any way, shape, or form saying this is your fault in any way just wanted to give you a heads up.

Well thats.... stupid. Leave a negative review on Amazon so more people are made aware. Unfortunately with some of these generic lines they can use excellent parts, then swap to worse ones without changing the page.
3545  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S4 Setup [HD] on: December 10, 2014, 03:52:21 PM
I want to get one of these but with the fans spinning twice as fast and more noisy (people in my unit block already complain about the noise from the s3's)
Has something being sorted to bring the noise down or alternatively can we just get better quieter fans & install them ourselves to bring the noise down.
Someone also said something about fan profiles, can u explain what this is & how it works to reduce the noise without comprising on speed?

yes please i want to know options aswell

If your ambient is low you can alter the firmware to quieten down the fans. With any modification, do not let your chips sit about 65C as they've likely not been tested much hotter for long periods. And, you'll 'officially' lose your warranty.
3546  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiner BE300S Samples Arrived, <0.2W/G Achieved at Board Level on: December 10, 2014, 03:48:26 PM
And so it begins! It will be interesting to see the formfactor devices take as GH / chip [at these speeds] is much lower than BE200 which was ~7GH. Power per chip is also down so the hashing and power density of BE300 will be quite significantly lower. This is of course that AM doesn't throw out W/GH for $/GH.
3547  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Legendaries review party of Spondoolies-Tech's SP20 on: December 10, 2014, 06:47:27 AM
PS: Any estimates on the arrival time, btw? Just to confirm the arrival time to plan ahead for the holiday season. Smiley

2-3 days, although I usually get my gear from them overnighted Israel to UK. Literally, 14 clock hours or so.
3548  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER C1 Discussion and Support Thread on: December 10, 2014, 06:45:25 AM
How are we managing cleaning up of C1 miners regularly. Just opening it up and vaccum cleaning suffices or more needs to be done.
I am yet to do mine for the first time so any ideas are welcome.

Just brush the radiators a bit if you can see lots of dust accumulating.

Pssh, send some my way so I can take real 24MP goodness.
3550  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER C1 Discussion and Support Thread on: December 10, 2014, 03:19:10 AM
hello

i have just recieved 4 C1 's, i installed them and 3 of them work perfectly and are mining as i write this, but i have one machine that did not connect with 192.168.1.99 and so i proceeded to reset , once i reset it connected for seconds yet it had no values, and disconected again  Huh Huh can you please advise me  as soon as possible?Huh what are your recommendations on this???. Cry Cry Cry

Thanks a lot.

Have you tried using the image in 2nd post on card?  If you are not able to connect to it the image should set it back it default IP.

Assuming you looked at router to see if it is under different IP, and ping it to make sure it's not there that is what i would try.  Please correct me Dogie if you have better idea.

Yeah start with SD card image.

Not Legendary and already have an SP20, but I love this picture way too much not to post it.

3552  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Black Friday Deals 0.409USD/GH/s, FREE International Shipping on: December 09, 2014, 11:09:30 PM
apparently, Bitmain does not offer sending directly to Umisoo for hosting anymore. does anyone know why oe if there is a decent alternative? I'd like to order some more S4s, but it's impossible for me to host them.

Did bitmain or one of it's employees ever comment on this? Speculation was they were too dangerous to host.

Whose speculation? Do you have a link?

Haven't heard that one either, I was thinking (pure speculation) maybe saving room for the S5's? did email them but haven't heard back yet.

I'll let you know.

I'd like to know as well because I have 2 S4's (latest batch) on Umisoo hosting. In the first week i've already had issues with both. The first s4 PSU completely went out, then for some reason the 2nd s4 was only running 3 out of 4 boards. I had to catch both of these issues and alert them to the problems. I wonder if its just coincidence or if these are running hot, because I have no way to check the miner status on these. My s4 that I'm running at home hasn't had an issue yet. I'm tempted to just eat the shipping cost after the first month and ship them into the US to the Toomim Bros hosting http://toom.im/.

We're not continuing the relationship with Umisoo is the tldr.
3553  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S4 Setup [HD] on: December 09, 2014, 06:38:28 PM
I have one question sorry if someone think im stupid

im order 16 units of antminer how I connect all the antminers to the same router??

i need a switch  true ? and switch to the router.

Im a normal 10gb connection at home

Yes just a network switch will do.
3554  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER C1 Discussion and Support Thread on: December 09, 2014, 05:10:16 PM
Reseat SD card, then reflash it. Its stuck in limbo at the moment.

Dogie, I took your advice and and have the same result.  No joy.  Everything appears to be OK except it does not hash.  I haven't heard anything from Bitmain yet so I'm pretty much stuck...

Hmm. Are you able to SSH in and look what error the cgminer window is throwing up?
3555  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Black Friday Deals 0.409USD/GH/s, FREE International Shipping on: December 09, 2014, 03:06:05 PM
Bitmain do not offer FREE Shipping.

IF miner will be returned to Bitmain customer not receive refund.
Bitmain ask customer to pay for shipping cost.

This is NOT "FREE" Shipping.

Its free shipping on the black friday S4 pack.

No, free shipping means that cost of shipping for customer is zero.

But Bitmain can ask customer for shipping cost compensation.
This option should not be called "free shipping".

"Shipping included" may be.

... you pay for shipping either way, Santa Claus doesn't deliver miners.
3556  Other / Meta / Re: Whitelist major photosharing sites past the image proxy? on: December 09, 2014, 02:31:35 PM
I whitelisted imgur. I probably won't whitelist others because I trust them less and they tend to have less consistent URL formats.

Thanks. My guides use flickr, although as you say the urls are come in different formats. AFAIK there are only 10 servers for the pictures, as below. They're also owned by Yahoo so unlikely to do anything devious,

Hmmm...I've had this C1 running for a few weeks now and had no problems until last night.  When I look at the status page I get this...

I've emailed support but thought I would post here as well.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Reseat SD card, then reflash it. Its stuck in limbo at the moment.
3559  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ROCKMINER ASIC miner official thread on: December 09, 2014, 11:49:54 AM
So i did a little modification to the miner to see if it pull more heat...

so far the top sink gets quite hot, due to copper on the chips, path of least resistance?
now the chipsets are claiming 38 Degrees Celsius at about 80~GHs at this moment, it hasn't been running for that long yet..

lets just see what happens

BE200s will get 80-90C topside so I wouldn't be surprised if that little plate is hot. Its not drastically increasing your cooling though without any surface area [fins].

are you saying throw away the topside heatsink and get one with more fins?

you think doing the same mod on the bottom side (adding heat spreaders) would help a little more too?

since it had time to settle though, at 270 (seems to be the best for this unit, the light is a constant flash, not a random short/long mix) its doing 80-85Ghs at 36 degrees C

oh this reminds me, this whole thing is like this:

I'm saying don't bother, BE200s are designed to run hot.
