The way a person (ab)uses language ...
I had no idea I was abusing the language ...
You're living in a self-indulgent paranoid fantasy ...

Ok, I'm delusional. So says the guy who thinks he can win a gunfight without a gun.  Roll Eyes

Maybe YOU don't need a gun where you live. When I lived in St. Louis my neighbor across the street was killed when shot through the neck at his front door. Another neighbor I didn't really know killed two car jackers and took one bullet in the process. My GF at the time faced 3 violent home invasions. They came to my house also but fled when they saw my gun. Another friend who ran a bike program was shot in the stomach by a 13yo.(On a dare!) In the 90's I heard gunshots all the time and there were places you could not even go. Fortunately where I live now I have less to worry about. Although people here are still killed all the time by armed criminals.

I'm guessing you think the police should handle things. Cops are great at carefully analyzing a crime scene. They will photograph and tag your body, odds are they will even catch your killer. Luckily you will not be alive and don't have to worry about  your concern of accidentally being shot. The police have a much worse record than CCW holders. About 11% of police shootings are wrongful and kill an innocent person. By comparison about 2% of shootings by citizens kill an innocent person.

So 76%? of the population votes to legalize and a few old guys decide they aren't going to allow it? How bout fuck you. Then blow a bowl in their face.  Cheesy
3563  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin is a solution without a problem? on: February 27, 2015, 09:23:14 PM
Problems bitcoin has solved for me:

1. Price. I should not have to give up a bunch of my money to move my money. Now I don't!

2. Security. I could give you my login credentials for overstock.com and you would not be able to steal anything. If I gave you my Amazon login, my credit would be toast. With bitcoin I can buy without revealing my identity because the seller does not need it.

3. Geography. With dinosaur fiat currencies I was forever trading one money for another as I travel. (I travel a lot). I could not shop craigslist Madrid or buy a recipe from a cook in Indonesia. These things are easy now.

4. Economic freedom. Because no one has control over bitcoin I can compete in a fair market now. No one can manipulate the market via production or restrict my ability to use BTC. Unlike dollars, these are mine alone and I can use them as I wish.

I could go on, but I gota get back to work.
3564  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Facebook will Accept bitcoins in future? on: February 27, 2015, 08:21:22 PM
I wonder if at first they will try FBCoins or something. It seems like the newb thing to do.
3565  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NYC residents are being robbed of their Bitcoin! on: February 27, 2015, 08:16:23 PM
The way a person (ab)uses language reveals a great deal about the way they think. That's my point.
I had no idea I was abusing the language by correctly structuring a sentence. But anyway, what would you do then? You see someone shooting up a mall or whatever, what response do you have? I suppose you could show them some statistics or tell them how you think America is mentally ill.  Me, I will be in a position to end this. I hope I never have to put a bullet in some deranged psychopath but I would not hesitate to do so if needed. If you were there at the mall also you would give me anything and everything to save you. The only thing in the world that would matter to you is my gun.
3566  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NYC residents are being robbed of their Bitcoin! on: February 27, 2015, 07:03:12 PM
So I wear a seat-belt and a gun just in case.
He wears, not carries, his gun, just like his seatbelt ladies and gentlemen. Just to be safe. Because they are both safety instruments that protect you. That's why it's the same. Get it?

Just as bullets and and kevlar vests are the same. Just as shields and swords are the same. Just as a wall and a battering ram are the same.  Ignorance is strength.
I also sometimes carry a flashlight and always carry a first aid kit in my car. Oh and I very rarely wear my kevlar vest. I'm not sure what your arguing now? Equivocation on the word wear? I hope you get into a debate and not a gunfight.
3567  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dramatically Faster Bitcoin Confirmations! (without any negatives) on: February 27, 2015, 06:46:03 PM
1. Transactions are not faster. Confirmations are.

2. We wait for confirmations as a measure of security. 1 Block is the agreement of the average Hashingpower of 1 minutes. If you would reduce the blocktime to 2 minutes you would also reduce the security of a block to 1/5th. Therefore for the same level of security you now gain with 6 confirmations you would need to wait for 30 confirmations. Nothing would be gained.
...

Gosh guys why all the hate on bit-happy?

I do think this is the answer however. And for many transactions it is not necessary to even wait for one confirmation. It would require a difficult and somewhat sophisticated attack to fake a bitcoin. It's not likely that it would be worth it to scam someone out of a $10 purchase.
3568  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why make a large sale on a weekend? on: February 27, 2015, 06:30:29 PM
I could the simple fact that people have more time on their hands on the weekends and end-up making more trades.
That would be my guess also. I think i move more BTC on weekends too.
3569  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NYC residents are being robbed of their Bitcoin! on: February 27, 2015, 06:19:24 PM
Hell, my guns are better than their low bid firearms.
You could have the best, fanciest gun in the world and you'd be just as dead if a bullet from the shittiest, cheapest gun struck one of your vital organs.

I totally agree. It's more about practice. That is why I shoot at least 200 round per week.
I do not feel oppressed by capitalism
Great for you, check your privilege.
Quote
I'm just not fearful. I make things happen instead of letting things happen. Capitalism does demand your effort. It's not for ass sitters.
It's [capitalism] far from utopia, but never in human history have people had it as good as we do.
You sure about that? Anxiety disorders affect 40 million adults in the United States (18% of U.S. population). 1 in 10 Americans is clinically depressed. 1 in 4 college students are depressed.
The United States is today almost certainly the most mentally ill society in the history of the world.
Quote
Never have people lived so long. Never has there been such peace. (yes, this is one of the most peaceful times in history.) and never have people had this much freedom. Heck, I could decide to live as a woman and society would play along. Unheard of historically.

Anyone who thinks you don't need a gun has been watching to many movies.
You must be joking. Hollywood glorifies gun culture like mad!
Quote
I must have been unclear, because that is certainly true and not what I'm saying. Our society should be ashamed of our glorification of violence. But we also love the underdog who who throws an impossible left hook and knocks out the armed bad guy. But that is not gun culture. Gun culture in based on safe handling. We are talking about the culture of violence.
So again, I'll stick to what I know works. That is not how a real gunfight unfolds.
You'll stick to what you believe works while ignoring overwhelming evidence to the contrary. I'll stick to an evidence-based existence.
Quote
I have seen fighting on three continents now and had more than enough experience being shot at. Never have I thought that if I threw away my weapon I would be safer. It never crossed my mind that we should stop returning fire because someone might accidentally get hurt.
So I wear a seat-belt and a gun just in case. You won't see it unless you are trying to kill me. But if someone does try to kill me then i will try to make it the last thing they ever see. I consider this to be a pragmatic decision.
3570  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Fear with US based online wallet on: February 27, 2015, 03:34:39 PM
Depends? Are you laundering money, cheating on your taxes, funding a terror group?

If you are just using bitcoin in a legal way then you SHOULD be using an above board operation. You could find some "dark" exchange that avoids legal compliance. But all you will ever know about the people who run it is that they are criminals. Would you feel safer leaving your money with criminals who could take it at any time and leave you with absolutely no legal recourse?
3571  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Alaska allows recreational marijuana as campaign spreads on: February 26, 2015, 09:27:08 PM
I think Washington D.C. also legalized today. Surely it's going to get harder and harder to arrest people for pot in other places when it's legal 100 miles away. Besides, who cares about people smoking pot anymore? What a silly law to say you can't.
3572  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is OS really important on: February 26, 2015, 08:15:30 PM
I would ask the NSA.

Just kidding, you should only be using open source software.

Interesting. The ABA is no joke. This does have implications for us all. While we argue about aliens and anarchy the big boys have been meeting. lets hope they are as incompetent.
3575  Economy / Speculation / Re: We are headed to $50 on: February 26, 2015, 06:50:49 PM
Too bad that men in white coats haven´t picked this fruitcake up YET.

Not even Warren Buffet sees it comming, it's kinda funny being a pioneer, all these "old respectable people" being objectively wrong as fuck.
lol. Then again why would he know? When I have a software question I generally don't look for a senior citizen.
3576  Other / Politics & Society / Re: CAN MICROBES PASS DNA TO THEIR HOST’S BABIES? on: February 26, 2015, 06:37:05 PM
Wow, that's it. I think I'm going to start loading my own DNA rounds for my carry weapon. Screw with me and I'll make sure your kids get Huntington's disease!
3577  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Safe way to convert BTC to USD in Paypal? on: February 26, 2015, 05:34:18 PM
I would worry about how much I have to give up using the "dog's leg" route you described. You may want to try an add on craigslist or the like. A lot of people want bitcoin and if you can find a steady face to face buyer it is a lot simpler. But the problem you have is a common one.
3578  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Safe way to convert BTC to USD in Paypal? on: February 26, 2015, 05:25:29 PM
No is the short answer. But a better question is why not just spend the BTC? It's money.

In my case, I got crypto to help fund gamedev.  Whilst I may be persuaded to use the crypto directly, my fellow devs have absolutely no interest in doing so and just want USD (weirdly we all deal mainly in USD as a common denominator despite the fact that the dev team are based in the UK, Greece and Italy!!).

Ahh, Got ya. Hopefully some day they will evolve also. lol.

Ozone or 03

That's the smell electrical equipment gives off.  Cheesy

Super cool. I was just in Jordan and I'm sure this would sell for more in a shop in Amman.
