3561  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: September 08, 2020, 03:14:28 AM
Why is Raina targeted like this, i thought he was just a cricket player, are these political attacks or regional discrimination, why would anyone attack someone from Kashmir. Srinivasan is the owner of a team and if he is spending money on a player he has the rights to comment on his investment and during a pandemic phase they will find it hard to find a player to replace them.

Some of the media sources are claiming that the motive was robbery. It is highly suspect, given that the village was located in a high-security zone. Also, even the relatives of the victims were kept in the dark by the cops, who refused to divulge much details about the attack. And talking about Srinivasan, he has the right to criticize the players. But not at a time when they are mourning the death of their loved ones. I would regard that as inhuman behaviour.
3562  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why lots of people got scam easily on: September 07, 2020, 06:56:36 AM
The Trust is the most important reason that some people get scammed in my view, When you see something on binance you never know if that could be spam!
Who would think that suchiswap get rugged ?! Huh
I think research is very important and never trust anything even if you see that on binance!

Binance usually charge a huge listing fees (upto $3 million) and they do a careful screening of the token/coin before it is allowed on the Binance platform. So obviously the risks are far lower, when compared to the other exchanges. But then, there is no guarantee that a particular project will be a success, even if it is listed on major exchanges such as Binance and Huobi. That depends on a number of additional factors.
3563  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does bounty still kind of worth on 2020? on: September 07, 2020, 06:46:12 AM
So many bounty hunters do not want to explore and that is why they remain in one position. The certainty of bounty d the assurance of getting paid is now very low. It has become more like gambling. You gamble to work and you gamble to get paid. Those Devs. No longer take bounty hunters serious, because they feel.they are hungry set of people.

Yes. Very few of the bounties are paying. But instead of complaining about it, the bounty hunters need to take steps to protect themselves from scamming. For example, stay away from those bounties, where the terms and conditions are very vague. A lot of them mention that the campaign manager has the right to change the terms of payment at a later point. This is very unfair towards the bounty hunters and I would request everyone to boycott such campaigns no matter how much attractive they may sound.
3564  Economy / Economics / Re: COVID-19 Impact on the Indian Economy on: September 07, 2020, 06:36:21 AM
Yes, I agree with this. Most of the country that faces huge problem when it comes to economy are those third world countries. They become poorer because of the pandemic.
It should be true but in Africans showed different response to this disease, though we may not trust the data from there but the health facilities has not shown such pressure even the little facilities at their disposal. Activities has resumed in almost every part of the sector of the African continent with lower response to all health precaution laid down to contain the disease. If compared with Ebola casualties we can consider this to lesser. The economy there isnt that good and the pandemic wont be blamed there

The mortality rate was very low in most of the African nations. The same can't be said about the European and American countries. I am not sure about the exact reason, but I guess having a younger population and previous exposure to various flu pandemics helped to reduce the mortality in Africa. The same can be said about Pakistan, where the infection rates have fallen by almost 90%.
3565  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: It is not easy to make money in cryptocurrency on: September 07, 2020, 06:26:28 AM
For those who invest in new projects, the most important thing to remember is not to put all of your eggs in one basket. From what I have seen, the success rate for the recent projects have been quite low, in the order of 4%-5%. So if you invest in 20-25 projects, you can expect one of them to give you good returns. So diversify your investment, and don't put a disproportionate share of your capital in to any one project.
3566  Economy / Economics / Re: PornHub now accepts Bitcoin and Litecoin (News coincides with BTC decline?) on: September 07, 2020, 06:16:08 AM
It's spreading on all' sides, and I think that gambling and porn industry can spread it on all other business. These two because
most of the users value privacy and anonymity, on top on that fast and cheap transactions. It has to start somewhere, so why
not from business on the margins of society.
Don't worry Tbterryboy we will see the whole world making most of the purchases using some crypto-currency, that time is
coming.

Agreed with everything else, but not with the "fast and cheap transactions part". Let's be realistic. There are various advantages with making Bitcoin payments, but being fast and cheap are not among these qualities. A confirmation takes anywhere between 5 to 60 minutes (compared to 1-2 seconds with Visa/Paypal) and the average fee is around $5 now (credit card payments usually charge a fee of around $0.30 for small transactions).
3567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins with 1000% Plus Profits on: September 07, 2020, 06:06:07 AM
The problem with these pump and dump coins is that you need to sell them right at the peak. If you delay your decision by a few days, then you will end up with a loss. This happened to me in 2018, when I was trading with DeepOnion. At one point, the exchange rates shot up to as much as BTC0.0011. But I was greedy and waited for more. The prices crashed very heavily (by more than 99%) and I ended up with a loss. I still have some of this coin in my wallets.
3568  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: September 07, 2020, 05:55:12 AM
Exactly he was pretty different from previous Chairman Shrinivaasan who was a greedy person, but some people always feel that an Indian would always favour his own home country board but Manohar has gone against all the odds for betterment of cricket.

The less talked about Srinivasan, that much better. He was a disgrace. Fellow Indian Jagmohan Dalmiya was the one who did the most for globalizing the sport, when he was the ICC president. The global reach of cricket increased by a great deal during his time. But everything was reversed when people such as Sharad Pawar and David Morgan captured that post. All the good work that was done by Dalmiya was thwarted. People like Pawar and Srinivasan pushed cricket back by at least two decades, for their own selfish and greedy motives.
3569  Economy / Economics / Re: Will India be more progressive in the coming years? on: September 07, 2020, 05:45:09 AM
I'd agree with that 100%, and it's a general truth that any given country is probably a lot different than how most foreigners perceive it to be, unless they've been there themselves.  I hear stories about Indians shitting in the streets, but having met some who've immigrated to the US, I've found them to be very intelligent and civilized.  I don't know much about their culture, but I don't think India is in the stone ages as far as crypto goes.

I am a regular visitor to India and I have my relatives there. On average I spend 1-2 months in India every year. I don't mean to disrespect the Indians, but the government attitude towards cryptocurrency and other domains are outdated. The last time someone tried to setup a Bitcoin ATM in India, he was arrested and the ATM machine was confiscated. There are millions of cryptocurrency users in India, but doing so is not strictly legal. Cryptocurrency in India exists in the grey zone. Since there are no laws or regulations regarding cryptocurrency, it is open to interpretation by the law enforcement officials. And this can cause issues for foreigners like me.

Other things that I mentioned in my post are true. India is a country which has banned porn and gambling. Do you think that these are very progressive steps? From what I have seen, the people tend to be very hypocrite. India is one of the top consumers of porn and still they don't want to admit that. The same goes for other domains, such as prostitution, gambling and alcohol.

BTW, this topic was about the "Indian progressiveness".
3570  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Miami Dade to open Casinos and Restaurants for the third time. on: September 07, 2020, 05:35:35 AM
Basically, Covid-19 is still around us, so no matter how many entertainment venues, businesses and casinos are opened, it will still get a spike from the Covid-19 case itself. All health procedures and protocols have been implemented but still, when there is a crowd that is where the spread of the virus will occur. The opening of places like this is basically to restore the economy, and I just want to remind you to always be vigilant and aware of whatever we do in casino places and any crowded places out there, because this virus is still there and can attack anyone.

Various studies have shown that antibodies for COVID 19 are present in a large portion of the population. It can range from 20% to 80%, depending on the geography. If someone is having the antibody, the chances are that he will not get infected again from the Coronavirus. The governments should do mass testing of the general population and if someone is found to be having the antibody in his body, then he/she should be allowed to excuse himself from the lockdown regulations.
3571  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid 19 shows how weak People are in the it mind on: September 07, 2020, 05:25:23 AM
I think not all countries that is receiving this free loan for the betterment of their citizens in this pandemic, countries like Ghana, Cameron, Nigeria  nothing  like Free loan for their citizens.
Countries like USA, China, and Canada they are giving outopportunity to their citizens by giving them free loan to boost their economy.

I don't expect all the governments to do that, especially of they don't have enough reserves. However, a large number of developing nations have started giving out handouts. An example is India. Till now, the government is reported to have sanctioned almost $100 billion worth of funds to those who lost their jobs as a result of the pandemic. Obviously, the developed nations are a step ahead of the rest.
3572  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Problem Gambling in the wake of covid-19 on: September 07, 2020, 05:15:12 AM
I've seen a few people getting more desperate around this time. It's a hard time, no doubt. Disposable income has gone way down, sources of income are reduced and family matters tend to get worse. At this time losing money in gambling has more of an impact, and some people tend to try to escape with gambling. This is exactly where big problem situations can arise from.

What about those who are employed by the casinos? They are not billionaires and they need their salaries as well. If you close down all the casinos, where they would go? Gambling is just like drinking alcohol. You are expected to be responsible while gambling. If someone is unable to do that, then it is his problem and it is not right to blame the entire gambling sector for that.
3573  Economy / Economics / Re: Biggest winner during COVID? on: September 07, 2020, 05:05:34 AM
Yup, that's why there are news that Jeff Bezo got back his 150 billion dollar statue during the start of pandemic. All of us at our home, offices decided to do skeleton working and some our stay at home. Technologies are needed and online transactions and deliveries are winning.

American billionaires are getting richer during this time, and it sucks to say that we can't do anything about it cause we need there products. We are all guilty of it, try remembering how many times you just clicked the "purchase" button while at home during this time.

That is not the right way of looking at it, I am afraid. The billionaires are getting rich, and there is no doubt about it. But what about ordinary investors? Some 40% of my portfolio is made up of stocks and mutual funds (second only to cryptocurrency), and I am benefitting from the market rally. Like me, there are hundreds of millions out there, who have seen an increase in the valuation of their investments.
3574  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 07, 2020, 04:55:25 AM
What has gone wrong with the Australian team? They were in such great form before the start of this series and I don't understand what went wrong all of a sudden. Now they have additional headaches, on top of the already existing ones. The middle order is looking third class for sometime, but on top of that their bowling is also looking very ordinary. Luckily for me, I refrained from placing a bet in their favor at the last minute.
3575  Economy / Economics / Re: Economy after COVID-19 on: September 07, 2020, 04:44:25 AM
Many companies learnt and adopted new ways of working remotely. Even after this pandemic, they can still allow some employees to work from home and safe the company costs too depending upon the nature of the work. There is a lot to learn from this experience and can be utilize effectively in future.

Here in Singapore, almost everyone who works in the IT sector is working from home. It has proven to be beneficial for everyone. Daily commute was always a big headache for me, because I used to take the public transport. The employees are as productive as they were earlier and now everyone is left with additional savings. And at least in my sector, the revenues are stable and not impacted in a big way by the COVID 19 pandemic.
3576  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: September 07, 2020, 04:34:49 AM
He did not how they were dead ? Were they killed by someone or passed away due to some other reason. The investigation may come in few days by the PunjabPolice India but this is really a shocking news. Someone might have taken revenge with Suresh Raina🇮🇳  Huh

Raina's uncle and other family members were asleep at the terrace of the house, when they were attacked by an infamous criminal gang (locally known as the "kala kachha gang"). Raina's uncle Ashok Kumar (58 y.o) and his son Kaushal Kumar (30 y.o) reportedly died in the attack, while the other family members are still hospitalized. The criminals behind the attack are yet to be arrested, as they are rumored to be close to the politicians.

Earlier there were rumors of terrorists attacking the family (since Raina was the Kashmiri to represent India), but these were later proven to be false.

All that said, N Srinivasan's reaction was appalling. He should understand that cricketers are human beings and they too have families. This guy is blinded due to his greed for money.
3577  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Early members, give us an insight on: September 06, 2020, 01:34:06 PM
Hi there

I would like to ask the people who joined this community in its first years. What tip you could give new members who just got into crypto

I joined this forum about 8 years ago, and I have seen the ups and downs of cryptocurrency. Nowadays the main reason for holding cryptocurrency is to make profits out of it. When I joined in 2012, none of us expected that Bitcoin prices would go up by 1,000x. Most of us supported cryptocurrency for ideological reasons. Anyway, there are a few simple things to keep in mind if you want to get rich from cryptocurrency:

1. Hold your coins safely and securely. Just follow the basic safety precautions, such as 2FA and email confirmation
2. Never ever listen to FUD
3. Never do panic selling
4. Always remember that Bitcoin is the original cryptocurrency and give it a higher priority when compared to the other altcoins
5. Stay away from all the pyramid schemes and ponzis, no matter how attractive they sound
3578  Economy / Economics / Re: CHINA WILL CUT HOLDINGS OF U.S TREAS FROM CURRENT ABOVE $1T TO ABOUT $800B on: September 06, 2020, 01:24:51 PM
Is this news confirmed because I did not find it in the headlines?
Reducing TREASURIES by 20% in one year is considered very high, but what is the reason?
The trade war is still cold, and neither side has used the policy of maximum pressure. It will also be a tool to force the other side to make concessions that make the negotiating position better.

I don't think that they are considering this as a retaliatory measure. Perhaps they are afraid that the Americans will impose some form of sanction or embargo, which will make these bonds completely worthless. IMO, rather than retaliating against the Americans, this is the main intention for getting rid of the treasury bonds. They may be moving their reserves to gold or other safe assets (which are not impacted by the sanctions).

3580  Economy / Economics / Re: First Bitcoin ATM in Venezuela on: September 06, 2020, 12:54:08 PM
I agree it should be a celebration for the whole community of bitcoin. But even this happens I hope Venezuela regain their financial crisis. I'm happy that they adopt bitcoin, and like you said that they tend to believe in bitcoin. But unhappy on the other side that Venezuela must face the financial crisis before they grasp bitcoin to secure their economy. Smiley

I don't understand all the fuss. Bitcoin ATMs operate all around the world. What is so special about this ATM in Venezuela? To be honest, I am not very happy with the Venezuelan regime's soft stand on Bitcoin. As you may be aware of, Venezuela is currently under United States sanctions. If the US government suspect that the regime is using Bitcoin to circumvent the sanctions, then they will adopt measures which can have a negative impact for the cryptocurrency market.
