Meanwhile, the temperature situation is getting worse and worse. Is it safe at all?!?!?!?
You should be OK, I've seen mine run at up to 41 degrees intake on the odd occasion, but of course the hash rate lowers ... that's why they are on their way to Iceland for a nice cold home. I can't remember the cut-off point, but Sponds have built in an auto shutdown into the system, so you shouldn't damage the miner if it gets too warm. EDIT: Think I read somewhere that it shuts down for a specific period of time and then tries to mine again ... if it's not happy it tries again later.

what then is a good price to co-locate an SP30, with Internet access of course.
Some info available on the H/w Hosting Directory & Reputation thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=622998.0 several people have SP10s hosted by various companies. Hosting prices vary from country to country.

The final price will be adjusted after the second week of July for adapt as much as possible to the level of difficulty I await to see your outcome ... the original GB price is already ONLY just below their September sales price ...

Hope someone can shed some light on this ...
I'm shipping my SP10s to the Advania data center for hosting, and they've given me network settings to configure the miners before I dispatch.
I've been running them using DHCP, but obviously now need to fix the IP addresses. Trouble is, whenever I make the change in the GUI and 'save', the new settings don't lock in and it reverts back to DHCP.
The miners are using the latest FW 1.5.2.
When I first got them, I used the start.spondoolies-tech.com to access them, which is fine ... and obviously the data center could do the same ... but they'll need to fix the addresses.
Anybody had similar problems?
Thanks.
EDIT: Re-flashed the firmware and updated to the latest .. All OK now.

Hi folks, I'd like to introduce myself, I work with Aegir at Advania and can help with any queries you have on hosting your mining equipment in our Thor Data Centre facility. You can contact me directly on brian.rae@thordc.com or through PM on this site (or Brian_R at WHT). I'm online most of the time day and evening, so should be able to help pretty quickly in most cases. I can recommend Brian (Brian_AdvaniaThor), just arranged to host two SP10s at Advania with him. Quick replies and great service ... hope this follows through when they reach Iceland. I'll update when they are up and running.

The problem with confirmations on Bitmain site is an issue related to Blockchain and how its API interacts with their servers.
YEP! It happens all the time ... especially when they are busy ... and an S3 launch day IS A BUSY ONE. I too have an order placed which shows paid/unshipped/expired. Not stressed though, BitMain have proved over time they sort these issues out and honour the orders.

Since you are a new user, I want to make sure you are aware of how much capacity was added to the network in the last 11 days. If you are not, you should research around a bit but adding over 20,000 TH/s in that time is really unbelievable. Think of how many huge farms this must be. All in 11 days (actually less).
Too true ... (not sure all the extra hash is from farms though) hardware has been shipping as well ... and the increase in difficulty has compounded things yet again ... HEY HO ... A MINING WE DO GO!
|
|
|
Mining BTC is a continual hamster wheel ... keep investing/upgrading hardware to keep ahead of difficulty ... sell and dump your less efficient miners to pay the way. Not the best business model ... but one that does work at the moment. For how long, I'm not sure, but the several TH/s machines have flourished over the months and the SP30 is going to have quite an impact when it arrives - both in terms of hash rate on the network, and bringing returns for the miners.
Now ... Sponds will ship the 6TH SP30 starting August ... the SP10 is a has-been and is now discontinued. What? I ask myself will they have up their sleeve next in terms of power for the next mining beast they will produce?

Oh we'll I'm sure it will balance out in a few days
we are going for 90% CDF maybe its normal for you guys this is my first 90% CDF block I have had more then 50 of them. Pretty much by definition, 1 in every 10 blocks should be a 90% CDF block, so you just joined at a lucky time. Yep, we had a great little run for a few days ... and then a long block. Doesn't matter how many times that pattern plays out ... it just seems to last forever ... << NOTE TO SELF >> ... be patient! Variance and luck will smooth the waters over the coming days.

A 31 minute block .... not seen that for a few weeks!
Good luck seems to have returned over the past 10 blocks ... the red CDF will show again soon ... variance/luck will play its card ... and a big diff increase on the way.

Dr Haribo ... Happy BitDay to you and the site. I'd just like to add that Bitminter has some great stats available which I REALLY like.
(If I have one wish ... it would be that more than 5 workers could be added without extra cost).
Keep up the good work!

I was actually very frustrated with my data center search until I filled out a request at http://www.datacentermap.com. Within 24 hours, I was contacted by three different data centers in the area that I hadn't previously considered, and ended up choosing one of them. I highly recommend that site to start your search. kendog77 thanks for mentioning this site, never knew it existed ... I have two SP10s and two forthcoming SP30s I'm looking to find a home for.

The sudden drop in BTC value really top down their plans.
It won't they'll probably link the cost to the dollar price ... as they did with the S2.

Yeah! solved a block. Just had to say something.
You did ... and my first was two before you

Hi.
I would like to know which pool do you recommend:
Bitminter or Slush Pool(bitcoin.cz) ??
Just because i didnt try minining on bitminter, just to know.
thanks
Err... this is the Bitminter thread ... so I'm guessing a lot of folk (like me) are Bitminters ... Many have mined on and off various pools ... the truth is you 'should' earn the same from each .... once variance averages out - but only you can make that call after having mined on them and you get to make a decision.

I have to agree with this. The lies they told and then turning the customer into the competition. Shameless and pityful.
Mmmm .... Lurked on this one for a while ... and have respect for Dogie with his excellent teardowns ... but KNC surely lost all trust some time ago? If not ... why not?

B) I don't spend any time fiddling with my SP10 trying to "get the damn thing to work" ... I like miners that I can just plug in and they work. I have literally never opened the case on my SP10.
Too true ... Sponds made a VERY resilient and stable miner in the SP10 ... and I've been very pleased with the performance of my two, and right now summer in the UK warmed their space to intake of 42 degrees C today ... still they mine away unaffected.

Also interested, mark me down for 1, thanks.

A revision to stratum is possible, and I'm quite surprised it isn't being actively driven by pool operators.
As you say, a hard fork is not practical, however if a revision to stratum is possible that agrees with the masses, it sounds interesting. Not saying I have a huge amount of knowledge in these areas, but is this reasonably possible?
