So ... has anyone who opted for a 7.7% BTC refund received it yet?

The miners shipped on time ... the refund (for me) awaits ... still shows 'init' on the bitmain site.

and the last one beeps once in a hour.

Lol, Bitmain made a bitcoin miner clock  Cheesy

So ... what is this random beeping all about from the S3's?

Every now and then I hear a beep, not sure if it's always from the same miner ... and neither of them ever switch over to a fall-back pool, so connectivity seems OK.

It's just a single beep, so contact with the pool/internet doesn't seem to have been lost.

okay fast question How do I get the gui to show my best share?  best share is zero/blank>

Both of mine show '0' Best Share as well ... no idea ... guess they might include it in a firmware update.

Received my two S3's today, in the UK, and paid UPS £137.00, not sure what the declared value was as the usual pink UPS invoice was missing. They say they'll send it in the post.

346  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 16, 2014, 09:19:29 PM
Will there be another batch of S3's? Or better to wait for S4?

I would have thought so ... the S3 is a direct S1 replacement ... and as such they will sell thousands over the coming months. The S4 will be a level above ... in the TH/s.

That just further shows that it was shipped yesterday. Yesterday 8.32pm was when it was picked up by UPS.

Ah, yes ... silly me, today is the 16th!  Embarrassed

So were they just lazy today and decided not to ship any?

I got notification that mine have shipped today ... with delivery by UPS on Friday (In the UK).

Yours was shipped yesterday. They sent the notifications today for that. There is a one-day delay on the notifications.

Yesterday by this time, the ones that had their S3 shipped were able to see their shipments on UPS's website. I personally cannot.

Nope, today it shipped:

I can recommend Brian (Brian_AdvaniaThor), just arranged to host two SP10 at Advania with him. Quick replies and great service ... hope this follows through when they reach Iceland.

I'll update when they are up and running.

Update: After TNT took an extra day or 2 to deliver, Advania got my SP10s racked and mining within 24 hours, so very pleased.

Intake temps don't fluctuate more than 2 degrees at most (In the range of 19°C to 21°C).

As I write they are showing:

Miner 1 shows: 20 °C intake / 67,79 °C @ 1.42 Th/s
Miner 2 shows: 20 °C intake / 69,70 °C @ 1.44 Th/s

Seriously thinking of sending the SP30s on order there as well.

Just in case this works out Ok with a good price, stick me down for one.

Fingers xx'd.

Well, the IP on the pic of the S3 hashing points to BTCGuild....

And then there's the antpool: https://blockchain.info/blocks/AntPool which seems to be pretty busy :-)

LOL, 'we only have one S3' ... and it's on a test bench.

They don't say how many benches ... won't shoot them though for that. If their farm 'is' entirely populated with S2s, it will be interesting to see how the price drops when they swap them out for S4's, or S2's with upgraded boards.

I don't think you're understanding the current situation. You're basing your opinion on partial information you're getting through an internet forum.

Partial? I can only go by what you have written on this forum.

"It's quite easy to sit back and play Armchair Data Center Operator" ... now that I don't do ... I only comment on things people experience & what I have experienced myself.

"perfect storm" ... planning sorts that one.

>> Out of curiosity, have you ever been in a data center?
>> Have you ever been in a data center that has 100 or more mining machines running at the same time?

No .. but should I? How would that help? If I said yes ... would that make my any reply diffrent? No ... When I choose a hosting solution it is based on cost/reliability/feedback/TEMPS/SLA and an averaged view from others in the forum community who have used them.

If possible can you post a copy of your SLA please?

While I appreciate your opinion, you're well off base.
We've been in the data center business for years. We're not a "fly-by-night mining center".

Unfortunately, we had some units fail and in a worst case scenario, our redundant unit also failed.
As mentioned, we've been in the process of bringing a new unit online, which was a planned upgrade. These unit problems escalated the install of one of two, and had us bring in an emergency AC rental to help overall.

You may have been in the business for years ... which actually makes the current situation worse with your reply.

>> Unfortunately, we had some units fail and in a worst case scenario, our redundant unit also failed.

So, you didn't have proper pre-planning in place for worst case scenario then. Not meaning to shoot you, but if some units fail  ... and at the same time the redundant unit 'also' fails ... there is no robust plan in place.

Doesn't seem too professional to me, MichColo should have had redundancy and back-up plans.

If your dead ASICS don't come back to life after a cool down in temps ... they cost you.

Unless I missed a page ... (which is quite possible) scrolled forever through the block history ...this block is getting close to the last two very long blocks back in March 2012.

As I write we are at 2 days 15 hours and 27 mins @ 98.66% CDF.

2012-03-10     2d 18h 11m    99.0% CDF
2012-03-02     2d 16h 23m    97.8% CDF

And difficulty was only at 1,496,978  Shocked (Now at 16,818,461,371).

Dig in everyone ... all will come good in the world of averages over time.

(Still ... doesn't make you feel any better when the electricity bill keeps rolling without reward though).

By the time it does it will be time for my SP30 to start it's hashing! lol Thanks Spondoolies-Tech crew for producing such quality equipment and support!

True, quality is built in ... but I keep wondering ... and have voiced this in various threads  ... a 6 Th/s miner is fantastic ... not seen before ... and I can't wait to receive my orders.

The bar is set .. BUT what next?

Sponds ... what are you working on ? ...

A little teaser would be appreciated by all.

Out of interest I went back and looked at the block history on BitMinter ... and how things have changed ...

The oldest entry is the 3rd July 2011 and took 14 days 3hrs and 10 mins! (When Bitminter started). Difficulty was 1,379,192 and the pool speed registered at 0.0 Thps ... naturally DrHaribo made the block that day.

Three blocks were solved on 4th July 2012 (none on the third) and the pool speed was 0.2 Thps.

3rd July 2013 shows 6 blocks solved and the pool speed was 5.9 Thps and difficulty was 21,335,329.

3rd July 2014 ... 3 years on from the start... (only 12 months later than the last stats) - 'hello! and welcome to ASIC miners' - 1 block solved at a difficulty of 16,818,461,371.

As I write we are on a 1 Day 15 hour block ... and counting ... but there have been a few good days recently ... and the pool is running at 1367 Thps.

What will 3rd July 2015 show? We can't even speculate.

Hey,
I would be down for it and buy 15-20 SP30's (depending on the final pricing) for 50.000 Euros..but I dont know if I can trust all this money to 1 guy...how can I go sure that he wont scam us? he has only 55 posts and I never saw him doing any other groupbuys before...any tips for me?

use escrow

IF the group buy comes off, he should do the same as Roadstress did with his group buy ... hand all the information over to Spondoolies and let them take the orders directly ... so you deal directly with them, not him.
